Apr 12, 2024
Hello, the Mercedes E-Class has been a mainstay for decades, it's always been something to aspire to and now there's a new one and the question we all have is: will it be known as one of the greats? This new version promises a lot. It is more spacious. It is full of smart technological green materials and has a range of clean engines. There's a lot to fit into its rather imposing body, let's talk design. It looks very different to the previous version and that is predominantly due to this much larger and taller grille with this silver frame and in fact you can get the grille in two different versions depending on the ride level you choose.

The AMG line has a Mercedes star in the middle surrounded by hundreds of smaller ones, while the exclusive trim is a little more professional. and it looks like the S-Class with horizontal bars and a Mercedes star protruding from the hood. Both versions come with an optional LED light strip that lights up very brightly in the dark. Then you have these new pretty nice looking LED headlights with 1.3 million pixels. They have the ability to make a cool light show on the floor. I think they look very good. They make the car look a lot more distinctive and a bit meaner in my opinion, they have a good shape and then the black frame that oozes into the black. around the grill everything looks pretty good and then around the side you have the pop up door handles like they have on the EQ cars, new wheel designs up to 21 inches in size and then at the rear , it has these lovely new tail lights that I have the three pointed Mercedes star design which I think is a really nice touch, however I'm not a fan of the plastic on the rear bumper nor am I a fan of the fake exhaust tips , they are not even connected to the real ones, what is all that?

About, let's talk technology, the Mercedes E-Class may have a 14-inch tablet-style screen, but that's a poverty spec. For a little extra money, you can pay for what Mercedes calls the Super Screen, which is a slightly smaller version of the Hyperscreen. what you see in the eqs so that the Super Screen spans the width of the car it has the driver's digital screen it has a large center screen and then an optional passenger screen where you can browse the web you can scroll on Tick Tock you can play Angry Birds but that will only work if there is a passenger sitting in the passenger seat and as long as the driver is not looking the cameras will detect if the driver is looking at the screen and if it detects it it will just turn off talking about cameras.

There is now one on the dashboard for selfies or selfie videos. I don't know why it's become a thing like this, but the BMW 5 Series did it, so maybe Mercedes didn't want to miss out. What's even cooler is that you can do a zoom meeting from the comfort of your car. Let's see what's up. doing Rory hello hello where were you upside down? you need to turn to the side am I in the right position now? yes, now you are, are you checking a car?, yes, the new E -class nice hello I mean, I'm at The Shard in London look at my view, of course you're fine.

I'm in Vienna, of course not, oh, but I have a very nice car, so wait, it actually has that Zoom thing built in, yeah, in the center console, so you're pretty big on my screen, that's amazing, cool, am I in 4k or just like normal? Yeah, okay, you're not quite 4K, I'm afraid, but you know. You're probably about to give your verdict, uh, at some point, but what is it like? It's very nice, it's like floating in luxurious air, yeah, not bad, amazing, okay, I look forward to seeing the rest of your

review

, uh, I'm afraid.
I'm a little worried with my glass of champagne, oh go away, I can't hear you, I can't hear you, I'm sorry, it's cutting out, it's cutting out, it works like a charm. I will return it. Class E, the next feature. fantastic, thanks Rory, have fun, enjoy your day at work, bye, one last thing to open and start the car, you don't even need a key, you need it, as long as you have your phone with you, your car will start the steering wheel. It looks fantastic although it has capacitive buttons which can be easy to press accidentally and the optional 21 speaker Burmester audio system with Dolby Atmos is phenomenal as for storage inside there is a central cubby with USB cup holders and wireless charging for phones and behind even more USB and even more storage space.
Meanwhile, the boot is the same size as previous E-Class models, with 540 liters of storage. Of course, most business owners will spend more time in the back and I'm happy to report that it's quite nice to come back here. You have the removable armrest that opens to reveal a phone and tablet holder and two cup holders. You have a specific rear sunroof for passengers. Then the wheelbase has been extended by two centimeters, so you have an extra 17 millimeters. legroom, it has 25 millimeters more elbow room and five millimeters more headroom, so it feels quite spacious back here and is actually more like an S-Class.
There are a variety of engines to choose from, as always, these include everything from the entry-level E200 2-liter four-cylinder engine with around 200 horsepower to an E450 with a 3-liter six-cylinder engine making 380 horsepower. There are also several plug-in hybrids, including the e300e tested here, which can run on gasoline or both, is it comfortable? Yes, just a little, so the new E-Class comes with basic springs or air suspension. This one runs on pneumatic air suspension, so it's very smooth. I mean, I actually feel like I'm floating right now as for the steering, that's very good, it responds very well, as you would expect from a new E-Class.
It has optional rear-wheel steering, which basically means that the Rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels, meaning you can turn in much smaller circles, in effect turning. The circle without it measures 12 meters, but with it it measures just under 11. The steering also helps when you drive faster. At that point, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels for better stability, but the steering has another trick. it actually tells you and sometimes forces you to stay in what it thinks is the correct lane when you are driving on the highway with the cruise control on which will monitor your speed and who is around you and decide which lane you should be in if it thinks you are.
You're in the wrong lane, it will move automatically and even signal and pass people in the process. If the sat nav is active it will also leave the motorway via the correct exit. It's not perfect and it's a little intrusive, but the technology is impressive, it's very quiet, so this is a plug-in hybrid that runs on electricity alone, but yeah, it's so quiet you can barely hear the road. It might even be the quietest E-Class ever. In terms of performance, the fastest version currently. The E450 won't hit 62 in 4.5 seconds and 155 miles per hour flat out. The e300e I drive is quite agile and covers the same sprint in 6.4 seconds.
Both will operate solely on electric power for up to 97 kilometers thanks to a power of 25 kilowatts. One hour bigger battery than what you get in the original Nissan Leaf, super comfortable, has very good lumbar support, also hugs you a little when cornering which is always nice, also has a bunch of massage functions which I have currently in activation. massage, which is always a win, everything feels so luxurious, I mean so much that I'd like to be sitting in the back relaxing Fuel economy, it's impressive there too, the hybrid is acclaimed at 353 miles per gallon at best cases, although you will need the battery to be fully charged to achieve that once it runs out it is a different story.
It's also worth saying that refinement levels change once the battery runs out and the car becomes noticeably noisier due to its reliance on the engine. a new E-Class doesn't appear that often in each version and what has been done before adding something new, it's true, a selfie camera for Zoom calls in parking lots is a bit niche, but it hasn't been done before, there is a new BMW 5. series and the new Audi A6 are coming, so the competition will be very fierce. If Mercedes has done enough, it has a lot of new Turks. Some of them are tremendously impressive and others could be somewhat intrusive depending on your point of view.
It's not the most. exciting thing in the world, but that's not what it's designed for. If you're looking for a luxurious way to travel and are a fan of gadgets for gadgets' sake, the new E-Class will be what you're looking for. you
