My tips on tension..

feed that thread. What I see people do is they want to get to this

bar right here and just loosen it. I just want you to know that every time you loosen this bar here, whether you loosen it or tighten it, now you're doing that for each one of your needles, this bar here will loosen and tighten each needle at the same time. time, then if you change to another color your

could be off, so for me we leave ours in a certain place and we don't mess with it, we mess with our tension knobs because then we know we're adjusting that one needle, we're not the whole machine, so keep that in mind when it comes to adjusting this bracket or this tension bar right here, so keep that in mind, so here's the image that we're going to embroider and when it first starts.

We're going to use gold for the inside and then we're going to do the border in black, but what I'm going to do is I'm going to adjust the tension where it's going to start and "I'm going to leave it very very loose so I can show you what it looks like when the tension isn't right, so let's move on." Let's go ahead and adjust that and get into this, so we'll use number seven and number nine, so." I'm not going to mess with number nine, we're going to do our demonstration on number seven, which is going to be the majority of the embroidery that we're doing, so I'm going to adjust number seven, bring it in. a little so that it advances the thread fairly quickly, but if I have to adjust it during the embroidery process I will do it because I don't want it to form a bird's nest, if it is a bird's nest then we will run into a lot of other problems that we don't I'm demonstrating in this video we're just going to demonstrate how to make sure the tension is right, so what I'm going to do is loosen this up and then down here on number seven.

More Interesting Facts About,

my tips on tension...

To loosen it up, I tell people to think about a spool of thread on a stick, if I grab the end and pull it, what will happen after my hand or arm stops moving? keep spinning and it will just fall to the ground. Same concept here if you have it too loose as the needle is embroidering, which happens every time you embroider, it just pulls on that thread and as you pull on that thread it feeds it into the bobbin. and if it goes too far into the coil, it will give you a bird's nest and if you don't know what a bird's nest is, avoid it, right?
my tips on tension
I have done them. I think a lot of us who have been embroidering have experience or Birdness and it's not fun, so when I started with the base, I'm going to pull this out real quick, trim it, pull it out so we can look at our thread, you can see how loose this whole thing is. thread, look how loose, look how loose. i.e. look at the hoops that are there, you want to make sure that all of this every time you start embroidering is nice and flat, see how they lift up, that's what you don't want, so let's go ahead, put this back on.
my tips on tension
Here and finish off this top piece nicely, so while I pull this out we can look at this, look at this again, you can see the rise of the thread here, it's not nice and flat, you can see you can move it, this is what I'm looking for, but first To get to this point, look at the base. If the base looks bad then you'll want to change it, so we'll move on to the next piece, we'll do it in black. This time it will be the interior again, but we will do it in black. Just because this is in the same color, I should have done it with a different one, so let's do the black one. one right now and see how it fits well this is a good example so okay here it is as you can see it's not nice and tight it's very loose look how loose it is so let's finish this black part and then I'm going to increase the tension and we'll see that the next part here is a perfect example of what we're seeing, so if you look at this, this tension is off, you can see how fluffy it is, so what we're going to do.
What we do now is fix it, we're going to fix it and finish doing this, so we're going to go ahead and tighten our top adjustment knobs and our bottom adjustment knobs and while we're embroidering, I'm going to put this in the back. to where I had it before and we're going to continue to get it ready, we're going to start with this and when it starts we're going to look at the base and we're going to see how it looks weird so one thing I want to show you. If you look at this, you can see that this stitch is nice and flat and ready to go, but what I want to show you now is that down here we haven't talked about the bobbin yet, that's something we haven't talked about. the coil I'm going to take the coil out of the coil case or this, whatever it is, and I'm going to hold it well so I can say if you hold it like this, you could tell if it's okay. um, you should be able to bounce it up and down like a yo-yo or whatever suits me personally.
I like to grab it and pull it and I can feel like I've just learned over time what my tension should be, what I'm going to do and I'm not suggesting it to you guys, loosen the screw on the spool and I'll show you when the tension on the coil is too loose, which will happen. Look at this, you will see that it comes out white. of the thread and that's the bobbin sticking out from the back so make sure you pay attention if you see this tighten the bobbin screw it's going to go all the way down here and as you can see there's a screw right there. so all you're going to do is squeeze this.
I know I feel, learn how the coil is supposed to feel or get yourself a meter if you have to give it a little tug, feel how it feels and if it feels. Good for you, there you go, there should be some resistance there, not much, but you shouldn't be able to hold it and it will fall freely to the ground. If you are seeing the target, simply turn it clockwise until you no longer see the target. so we're going to try it right there and then we're going to press start, this is where we adjusted the tension on the coil and this is where it was loose.
Look at the difference, so let's go ahead and finish this off right. Here is the image. that we went ahead and sewed and as you can see here I changed from this brown because of the sand here you couldn't see what I wanted to show you so here we can see with this um that the stitches rise, we even lost the record since it came out too far from here when I was embroidering and if you get something like this and you see your threads lifting up, go ahead and adjust the bottom tension knobs, which you're going to fine tune and while you're embroidering, watch what it's doing, you'll see right here where it lifts up when you start turning the bottom tension knob and fine tune it you'll see this stitch will be nice and flat if not Then you're going to have to go up to the top and adjust the main tension knob because it's feeding in too fast and when we turn it back you can see the difference between this and this right here is where I had a lot of tension and it wasn't working for us so again I went ahead and showed you here we loosen the coil and as you can see white comes out through this if white comes out . through it, tighten the screw on the spool, that's the only problem you're having right there, tighten the screw if you're using white thread with a white spool, you won't see it if you're doing anything. black and then you change it to the black coil, then you won't see it, but you will see any other color coil, so make sure that if you're seeing this, you can go ahead and squeeze. that tension and then at the end, if you look at this right here, you can see that this piece, this piece, this and all the way down looks really good, we go ahead and tune it up and embroider it the right way, so you can show you how it's supposed to look every time you do it, so keep that in mind every time you're embroidering, those tension knobs are going to be key, try to stay away from that bar because like I told you, if you adjust that bar they're adjusting all the tension across the board, try to do that individually by adjusting those knobs, so that's it.
I just want to walk you through my process of how I check my tension, there are many ways you can do it. okay, there's no right way, there's no wrong way, this is just my way and when I was at a Decorating Summit, like I was telling you, a lot of people were asking me how I made mine, so I thought, you know what? what I do? I'm going to make a video about this and share it with all of you so you know how I do it. If you have any questions, leave some comments below or if you have any
