my new Wi-Fi is so fast its illegal.. - WiFi 6E Upgrade

Jun 02, 2024
My unlimited budget Wi-Fi setup has a few issues, the only one I've talked about so far is strange interference on the wireless speakers in the family room, but I also have disconnections on Apple devices when I move around my house. and my phone takes forever to connect to the outside access points when I pull into my driveway, which wouldn't be a big deal except I don't have cell service in my neighborhood so I can't open my garage, I mean I'm not wrong when it works, the speeds are really solid, but despite that it's like there's a voice in the back of my head, you know.

Wi-Fi 6 Wi-Fi 6 Wi-Fi 6 almost sounds like Jake. He knew it. He knew it. okay, but hear me out, Ubiquity Wi-Fi 60 equipment may not be technically enabled in Canada yet, but there is a workaround and the speeds are absolutely ridiculous. However, I've had issues with Ubiquity Wi-Fi equipment in the past and that's why it was Ruckus in the first place, but I'll give them one more chance, I mean, since it works great everywhere in my life, even in the office it should be fine and if not Jake has promised me that he will personally reinstall all my existing Ruckus hotspots just as I am going to install this transition for our sponsor it's Freshbooks thank you Freshbooks for sponsoring this video, Freshbooks simplifies accounting and bookkeeping, ensuring you're ready for tax time right now.

There's probably a way to fix some of the problems I've encountered so far. Ruckus Unleashed may not be as distinctive as its dedicated or cloud controllers, but it is. I have most of the basics, it's just that the basics haven't helped me fix my problems so far and plus they won't

upgrade

my Wi-Fi 6 access points to Wi-Fi 6E anyway, which is much of the goal of what we have. What I'm doing I wonder if part of the problem is that these access points are so excessive.

I was looking and Unleashed and my phone and laptop were grabbing the AP above and there's one right there. What is happening literally right above us? I even turned the power all the way down recently as a troubleshooting step and it was still happening, well it's still happening right now because it's off right now, let's take a look at what we have here. Actually, I haven't seen any of this. Jake surprised me. In fact, they all surprised me. I didn't even know we were making this video. I was at Disneyland. Well, within WiFi 60, this is the UniFi 6 Enterprise that each of these APS can handle.

I think it's over 600 clients, something like 10 gigabits of performance in theory. these are the pitiful 10 gigabits of performance, as well as connectivity between all clients, good sauce, we have a total of five of these for the interior, one for the garage, that's six, because we learned absolutely nothing about how to have two points Access may actually be problematic. I just turn it off. Wi-Fi 6E could help us with that. We'll talk a little more about that later and then I have two out, which doesn't explain why you have four. Well, I wasn't. I'm really unsure which would be the best option.
These look good. See, it's like a little tube and you can mount it under the S. These aren't y560s, but since they're outdoors anyway, you know 6gz isn't really ideal. It's not even necessary, you just need to open your garage, right, yes, we will probably opt for the long range one and also, because it is very long range, it has a very powerful 2.4 gig antenna. I didn't even ask, can we show this one because it's technically EA, but I'm sure it's fine haha I got them. These are Wi-Fi 6 in both 2.4 and 5. The nice thing about these is that they are sealed as if you could put them in a bucket of water before continuing.
It probably explains why WI-Fi 60 is so important. This is not just a small speed increase, but rather the fact that we are gaining access to a huge uninterrupted 1200 MHz spectrum that until now has not been used for any Wi-Fi. Fi Communications is in the 6 GHz range and it's huge, seven 1200 MHz channels and 7 160 wide. The problem with 5GHz Wi-Fi is all those little sections that are blocked so you can't have big channels and then there's the radar and the channel width is what gives you the speed, yes also since this spectrum is completely empty and none of my neighbors use it realistically, I could have each of my APS on a completely separate 160 MHz. broadband so they don't interfere with each other at all, plus because it is higher in the frequency range it is

fast

er and when I say

fast

er you can do 1 and 2 gigabits both ways for a single client if supported , if you are wondering why I am wearing gloves so as not to stain the ceiling, a sticky finger, the paint on the ceiling is not very bright and it is very difficult to clean, unfortunately the mounting holes are not the same.
Maybe yes, they look the same. Oh my goodness, okay, here we go, now we just need to adopt the AP that appeared here, it will already have to be updated and then we should start receiving Wi-Fi. Now we just have to repeat this process seven. more times, two of which are outdoors and it's raining. I can shoot from inside. Oh these drywall anchors are shit, they like to paint on them so they get stuck in most dry ball anchors when you run the screw into the anchor like they break. the back to keep it in place and prevent that from happening.
I think what happened is that they use screws that are too short so it doesn't break in the back and can be unscrewed like easy, I'll say the Ruckus. That's a big pain in the butt, I mean just look at it, you have two little key holes that you have to line up the keys perfectly for both and then it slides out, but when you can't see you're trying to get the stupid screws to align them is kind of a pain in the ass, you can even see all the scratches from when we tried to mount these things, this AP is going to be a piece of shit to change, can I help you guys, this is terribly uncomfortable, why actually Isn't it heavy? not at all, oh my god, there's a dead spider, ew, it's not dead, go away, you're doing a great job.
Keep it up and die, helped, oh yeah, woo for those wondering this isn't an ideal place to put an access point that you normally want. Place them in the center of the ceiling of the space you are trying to fill or in the center of the wall if the ceiling is not available. This particular cable was supposed to go through the wall, but I guess they didn't read the plans. okay and put it on the ceiling, so, yeah, it lives in the corner of the wall, now come on, oh, oh, that's cool, damn, those are deck screws.
Fortunately, everyone squeaks with the LTT screwdriver for this. He's got Robson, so I can take him. These are a big difference in size, huh, I like it. It has a slightly different design where the cable connects. They usually connect here and it's very difficult to get it in, but they did it at an angle with a slightly larger hole. so it's much easier to connect. I have it. Actually, it doesn't even appear here. What is wrong with your application? I don't know, it's possible that I'm just not registered for early access. Yeah, basically what? What Jake is trying to do is try to enable access to Beta firmwares for devices because those early access outside APSs can't just run production firmware on them, obviously because they're not even production devices, but we don't have the console to run them. mine does have it. maybe it's just the difference between IOS and Android app.
I think we still have to do it on a computer, really yeah, I need this to say like it should say release candidate and then Early Access and Early Access is what we want, but it's not. In the meantime, I think I'll set up the AP and he can adopt it in a few hours when he recognizes the change. Okay, our eight access points are up now, so the first thing we need to do is create. a Wi-Fi network for Wi-Fi 6E because it is a separate band. I suppose you could technically have one that's 2.45 and 6 all with the same name, but then you wouldn't really know what network you're connected to.
For now we'll call it Wi-Fi 6E, password 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 and then we'll go to manually turn off 2.4 gigs and 5 and just select 6 GHz. This will require us to use wpa3 which is the new one. The security protocol for Wi-Fi 6C is very similar to WPA2 but with stronger encryption, making it the best option. Simply add our Wi-Fi network boom. We'll give it a few seconds and we should be able to see it on this laptop here. It is Wi-Fi 6 enabled, supports 160 MHz wide channels, but only on a 2X dual stream we may not be able to go over gigabits in this case, but we should be able to get really good speeds and we can connect at 5 GHz.
Network to compare the two and see the speed difference because it should still be substantial. I went to double check to make sure Wi-Fi 60 is working and it says 6GHz radio is disabled because we are in Canada there are some weird certification things going on with Wi-Fi 6C even though it is approved just like the states, so to avoid that we go to our UniFi control center here and change our country from Canada to the United States, probably not very legal, but we are doing it anyway now that we have changed, I want to try the speakers, this won't be a definitive test because the problem I was having is a bit inter anyway, but oh yeah, never mind, it's still a problem, we probably need to do it.
Go modify the channels and maybe turn off the 5GHz on the AP right above, but I wasn't too sure this was going to fix this problem anyway, look there's our Wi-Fi 6C network, we're on the business, uh, speed. test ok let's stand under this AP 300 down not bad not amazing either to be honest I think the peak we saw was an 850 megabit upload which is pretty fast 326 780 I didn't change anything everything is configured on automatic okay let's walk around with my phone real quick before I would walk between a room and it would completely disconnect and it's not like it was offline for a moment it would stay offline until I manually went in and reconnected to the network.
I want to see it. on mine too because I know how fast it should be on mine, this is a three fold so you should have 6E. Do you see a Wi-Fi network called Wi-Fi 6E? You really called it Wi-Fi 6 just for now. there it's sick it's 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 oh it's a good thing we have WPA 3 okay come on it's only 300 just wait until it loads well why is it slow? I'm not 100% sure even on 5. concert is a bit slow why am I damned? I was getting like 600 or more before you just turned my Wi-Fi down no no it's cool trust me what do you mean cool that's not cool Jake you did it you dumb dog no it's fast you messed up a mistake?
It looks great when I walk around your house it doesn't disconnect anymore well that's an improvement so Jake you basically turned down L's network just so your iPhone wouldn't disconnect when you walked around the house so this wasn't what it was about of me at all. So do you know what it was about? Well it looks like we found the problem, there were a couple of problems, one is that we didn't have flow control enabled on the switch, that got us to 800,900 megabits per second with the old one. switch, but my old Poe switch was gigabit, which is actually a bottleneck even for a single customer, so we changed the switch to their new Enterprise 48 port which has 48 2 1/2 gig ports and then four . 10 GB SFP Plus then it should copy quickly, all I have to do is set up a network that uses 6 GHz and I may also have to get a little closer to a 700 access point, let's Let It Rip 900 wa. more than a gigabit, there it goes.
Jake has these same APS at home. In fact, you've seen speeds above 1.5gbit, as cool as all of this is, although so far I'm finding it a bit difficult to take advantage of 6GHz Wi-Fi. -Fi, the problem with this is that devices iOS and modern Android phones no longer allow you to prioritize your wireless networks; There are third party apps that do it, but not natively, as far as I know, it's ridiculous. what my phone does is it just grabs my 5GHz Wi-Fi network literally all the time, then what I tried next was to enable 6GHz on my 5GHz network and it's 6, not 6E, there's how much closer I can be, but like I'm driving down the street towards my house.
Can I connect and operate my garage door action and did we do it? Oh wait, did I? I pressed the sensor, damn it, so this wasn't about me at all, so you know what?
