Jun 05, 2021
Well it finally happened guys, I'm looking for a new

laptop

because my old one, my 2018 Blade Stealth, decided to shut down, literally, I was sitting in a job interview, I was interviewing, I'm not quitting, don't worry, I was sitting. in a job interview and it just started video cancel no, it's okay, the problem is not actually that it doesn't turn on, the problem is that I can't charge it just to clarify that statement a little, I plug in my charging cable and it sounds something is shorted something is wrong with it, it's

time

to replace it, so we've put together a pack, a pack kill, whatever, a bunch of

laptop

s to determine what my new daily driver will be and there will be quite a few Considerations The screen will be a important factor.

I write fast and I write a lot. battery form factor and of course I would love to have a device that I can actually use, although it should be noted that I always carry a dongle because I just accepted that dongle life and my dongle is not on me because I am actually using it to a review I was working on, but believe me, I almost always carry a dongle, so in front of me are the five candidates, let's find out which one gets the cheap and expired chocolate pink of 2016, this was better before talking about it before My Segway thing has gotten pretty stale now, hasn't it, but I'm going to keep doing it anyway.

I think this is going to be a lot of fun and I'm really looking forward to it. Thus, of the five ultra books that I have in front of me, some of them we paid for, but others were sent by the manufacturers. The thing is, I don't know which was which, so if I choose one that we paid for, then I'll go.

I'm going to stick with it and ultimately buy a laptop for the first

time

in a long time and if I choose something the manufacturer provided we'll send the others back for a refund but we did it this way to make sure it wouldn't. I can't have any bias while I'm making a selection, another thing is that this was actually the idea of one of our new writers who was evaluating without really knowing what device I'm using, so this is the first time I'm here in front of this and I guess they apparently stuck a macbook in there so this is a macbook of some kind like what's the challenge.

I just sit down and start trying to write something. Wow, those aren't very pronounced gay nipples. Oh wait, they're fine. I really like this keyboard. I had issues with recoil, but I think part of that might have been the duvetyne in my hand, so I'm not going to tighten it too much. I'll give this keyboard an eight and a half nine. out of ten I really like this as it's a different style of keys that I don't necessarily prefer the precision on this one isn't bad but it feels a little slower it has those kind of square keys without edges um this one is like a seven and a half for Me, I think I know what I think of this one, but hey, I have the same comments I had about this before.
I feel like it's really easy to fire off quick bursts, but as soon as I try to write a longer sentence, I really struggle to keep up for some reason. Short key presses don't really work well for me. Oh, these have a long trip but with an empty feeling. Really long keystrokes make double characters a little more difficult. this one and my weaker fingers my ring finger and pinky fight a little okay seven is probably the worst so far I like this one too I think it's somewhere between uh this is an eight and a half for sure and then what was the oops oh, vi which one was whoops so the keyboard test is pretty clear to me this one and this one are above the crowd this one is a little behind this one is a little behind that and honestly it's probably somewhere in this territory for me too because I write a lot in short bursts while thinking, you know, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, now our content consumption test might end up telling me even more than I need to know about this stuff because right now I would find it difficult switch to something without a touch screen, so this one has one that's good to know.
I would describe the speakers as being okay, not as oversaturated as contestants 2 and especially 4 are, but they are. It doesn't look as good as the macbook so the ones at the end I would say are the closest to the macbook with these two behind it yeah you can see there's a lot of green in the water here. Oh, right, it's a macbook. The speakers are kind of the same across the board so far touch screen good good this is the worst offender when it comes to overdrive honestly these speakers sound like they are doing a bit of a weird tuning it sounds a bit harsh As far as content consumption goes, they are clearly the ones on the end or on the macbook, I mean you can calibrate the screen, but I want one that is as neutral and accurate as possible out of the box.
I know for a fact that Brandon wouldn't shoot anything that looked like that, so with that out of the way, the next part of the challenge is apparently figuring out exactly what all the laptops are and identifying them, so it's definitely a MacBook Air. Oh shoot, well I saw that one so I'll guess which one has the good screen. but the mediocre keyboard is a specter for HP. I don't know who to blame for this poorly calibrated screen. You know what I'm going to throw LG under the bus and I'm going to guess it's a stealth razor blade and me.
I don't think there's a Surface laptop here, let's find out what's really back here. Wow, that was a Surface laptop too. Oh, I must say that I don't think his keyboard is as good as Alex. This was an LG Gram. LG, I was hoping I was wrong about you and that's a Blade stealth, so actually what it didn't have was the x360 spectrum. I got the rest right though, so the next step is to move on and talk about the build quality. how they feel what the i o is like, you know, it makes a lot of sense that I would have liked the keyboard on the stealth blade as much as Alex might hate this keyboard.
I personally like it a lot, so this one only has two USB Type A, but that's enough for a keyboard and a USB stick, which is my typical maximum when traveling. It also has Thunderbolt 3, which means you can use just a standard Type-C dongle like the one I already have or something like an external Thunderbolt GPU. it has a quad core razer processor switched to intel networks from killer networks and im personally a fan of that move in general the only thing i really didn't like about this from the original review was its square shape but now i feel like i was able to having been a little unfair to it because it really doesn't feel that bad in the hand at all and the touchpad is nice and big like that.
I am a big fan of RGB. The backlit keyboard is obviously a nice touch. Actually, wait a minute. This does not have a double ray. It's really good to basically charge every two, three, or maybe four days, depending on how much you use it. Something to note about this one, even though we have the barrel adapter plugged in, is that it charges via the Thunderbolt Type C port, so that's a big plus for me more than I really thought before starting this because it means that I can carry a single Type-C power adapter for my Switch, my laptop, and my phone while I'm traveling, but only a single Thunderbolt port with native HDMI output. although at full size it's quite nice to look at but they still use a msata SSD, there are no discrete graphics like this and unlike most of the other contestants it uses only a 1080p display which I find a bit ironic given that LG is the only company here that actually makes LCD panels on the subject of things it has to make up for build quality just doesn't live up to the stealth of the razor blade on the issue of build quality, Apple still He does it like few others do this.
The thing is hyper thin, super rigid, I mean, even the screen, it's almost like they have a lot of experience building tablets, you know, super thin tablets, super thin phones, you know, they folded once before and they learn the lesson from something that is really difficult for me. getting this far is the i or not having it or even a single type of usb is the kind of thing that can end up being really inconvenient for me because maybe I'll go out and buy a type c USB stick, you know, or something like that. there are still things where maybe I have to like a two-factor authentication key and now I have to get it and I have to get a dongle and I usually use something like that at a time when it's really inconvenient for it to slow down The other thing that What kills the MacBook Air for me is the dual core processor.
If they upgrade this with a quad core CPU, now they caught my attention again because the keyboard is not my favorite, but the trackpad is definitely the best. of anything in front of me, so it has Touch ID built into the power button, something I really liked when I spent time with the last MacBook I reviewed, but some of the Windows machines here, including the Blade Stealth and the one below , they have Windows Hello. with face ID and I definitely prefer that I also have to get used to Mac OS again, but I mean it wouldn't be the end of the world, it's just not my preference unless this really surprises me, I wasn't going to do it.
Go ahead and move on to the Surface Laptop 2 2. Microsoft's Credit Magnetic Power Cables are cool in a sleek 2008 style, but unlike the Magsafe connector, on this one you can actually pull the laptop a considerable distance before it disconnects, depending on the angle you're using, so it's possible to take it off the table without leaving the biometric authentication, it's three by two, which is really good for productivity, that aspect ratio makes a big difference, it was far from the worst screen and it feels really good in the hand, but it's not as rigid as the others, although I understand that because they have this soft touch surface here and it's just so expensive , I just don't think it's really a candidate for me, now this one was I was a little surprised when I saw the price, so the Dell a CPU with similar specs to everything else we're looking at here, so if I was going to do it, you know. some light photo editing or very, very light video editing or playing a casual Steam game or something along the way, it would perform similarly to anything but the Blade Stealth 4k, which will outperform it by about twice as much in gaming if 3dmark is something to follow. a single Thunderbolt port, no dual Thunderbolt again with another type C on the other side microsd and not a single type, a guy already had one, but the price, the price for this type is really reasonable and if you consider the quality of construction, you know what it seems like to remember that was better?
Okay, it's not on par with Apple or Razer in terms of actual flexibility. I really like the keyboard and I really like the screen and I really like the price. the look its been a long time since i used adele i actually cant remember the last time i drove a dell daily yeah wow my old xps 12 two in one that thing was a tank tho i mean i still do it I've done. Having a Razer laptop lasted me over two years and that thing got rained on, I took it apart, dried it, put it back together and it still works to this day, honestly, when it comes to IO and external build quality and appearance , there really is no doubt that it has to be the Razer Blade Stealth.
It doesn't have a full size HDMI, which really bothers me a lot, but it's getting harder to find so I guess I carry my dongle anyway, but at least. it has a couple of types A it still has dual lightning and is just built more rigidly than the other windows machines anyway, I wish I had a little more time to do this because I'm heading out the door to go on a trip. so whatever it is I'll set it up for this trip I'm leaving and that's what will live in my backpack but it's hard so Dell's setup for a similar spec is about 300 less but when I say similar I I mean similar because the Razer Blade Stealth has discrete graphics, which means I'm not going to get as much life out of it, but they don't have Windows Hello facial recognition on this model.
Is it a touch sensitive power button that makes a big difference to me, is it a fingerprint sensor. Look, that's pretty good, but it's not quite good. You know, I've been playing a little more lately. I'm giving Razer another chance. Don't let me down this time. Razer Big Thanks to Energy for sponsoring this video.
