Murdered Ghosted Candy Graphics

May 31, 2021
Hello everyone, we are here at the Createx Colors booth. I'm Chris Arpan and in this video we're going to show you how to make murder ghost

graphics

. I'll show you how easy it is to do this, so stick around. tuned Hey guys we're ready to spray this is actually going to be the second step of what we're going to have like a four step process um those of you who are familiar Hey guys we're back in the booth we're ready for spray and this is actually the second step of what will be a four step process.

Those of you who are familiar with the killer

candy

itself, you can watch that other video we have, maybe you'll become familiar with it if you're not. Killer

candy

is just a technique where the

graphics

or actual color is faded until it comes out in direct sunlight, so it works great on things that are curved or have sharp body lines, so this is what what are we going to do. Step two, now the first step was to apply our black primer, our black base coat, that's step number one in the whole process, but to save you some time, I already did this with two coats of Otterborne black sealer, I did a little quick.

More Interesting Facts About,

murdered ghosted candy graphics...

I removed the tape from some positive graphics so that these keep the sealant black and I'm going to go to step two, which is applying the effect coat. This particular time we're going to use our hot rod bright green, so I'm going to put two generous coats of hot rod bright green over this entire hood and I really want that metallic shine. I want that hot rod shine to show through, so I'm not going to be a redhead with it, I'm really going to wear it. nice and what that's going to do is it's going to give us that contrast with that metallic and then just the black when we degrease it, so I'm going to go ahead and do two coats, you guys can look at it and see what it is. what does it look like we're going to let it dry to see what we think and then we're going to tape it off for the second step which is going to be a set of graphic finds so I'm going to get ready to spray okay guys?
murdered ghosted candy graphics
We're back, our bright green hot rod is completely dry, you can see it has a great effect, but what we're going to do in this video is take this one step further and we're going to make another set of flames for another one. set of graphics on top of what we already have, so our first set is already done, this is the black set that we recorded positively, so I unclipped it and started re-recording another set, so this is my second set, so really this is going to be my top set that you'll see at the end because this is the last set that we're going to do and we're going to take our hot rod shine again and we're just going to mix it with a little bit of emerald green to really enrich that color so that they're more darker than the hot rod glow that we have basically on top, so it's really going to bring some depth and dimension to this piece and you guys will be able to see what you can achieve with this graphic effect killed it's like in the dark, but only when the sun is on and it's going to show up and look really cool so there's really no limitation on how they use it but we're going to go over just a few. simple proportions the way I'm going to mix it to spray, but that definitely doesn't set you guys in terms of what you can do, it's more to let your imagination see what you guys can achieve, so I'm going to go ahead and stick this with masking tape and this will be the last set we spray and I'll see you in a bit Hey guys we're back in the cockpit my hood is completely sealed and ready to spray. our second graphic color, but before we get into that, I wanted to take a moment just to touch on a few topics now that we're doing a lot of videos and we have a lot of them out there, we're getting a lot of questions and some questions.
murdered ghosted candy graphics
This will probably be good to address for everyone because you guys might have the same question, so one of those questions is that Chris always touches everything with his bare hands in these videos. We're just demos, so I'm not super. It worries me because it's not as critical in terms of fingerprints and hand prints, but yes, I always recommend wearing gloves whenever you sand parts or between coats of color, whenever you have raw paint, you know, unclear paint or even a sanded clear coat or something. that you're working on for your project, you should always have gloves on, so when it comes to gloves and we're talking about wax and grease remover, we recommend a solvent-based wax and grease remover because we're using a solvent-based paint. water. system so I use a ppg product this is sx320 it's the least aggressive solvent pre-clean they make you don't want to use a water based pre-clean because that would be like taking a reducer and spraying it on will soften it so I always use a solvent based one and use the least aggressive one, you don't need anything crazy if you're just doing it between tape or between colors, there's no reason you should use a very heavy degreaser that will soak up the paint.
You don't need that because you're not trying to get the motor oil out of it with my wax and grease remover. I have lint-free towels. These are once a project comes to this booth. These are the only towels that touch it. Don't use paper towels or anything after it's in this booth to wipe it down for the last time, so they don't leave lint, they're very durable, they don't leave any kind of mess behind this particular company, I think they're formula products um, but you have plenty that you can get at your work or your online painting supply store.
They are just a very good pre-painting towel with little lint and last but not least just before you go to paint after cleaning everything up. tack rags these are from Gerson we probably get them once a week, I think when we get videos they ask us what kind of tack rags we are using these are the ultra prep from Gerson they are specific water based tack rags that work on All across the board, they will work with solvent-based paint, but are designed specifically for water. I love them so that's my last step right before I go to paint is these tack cloths here so now that we've got that covered we're.
I'm going to talk about our graphics now, this is the last step before we make our killer candy, so what I have because we made our bright green hot rod. I'm going to color match our 2o emerald green candy, so I took a mix of emerald green. that one to one with our 40 50. Now if you've seen other videos you know that I always mix my candy like four to one or six to one, but since we're already going over something darker and we're basically spraying graphics we're not trying to get a wide area, you can focus a little bit more and I'm actually going to mix that with our bright green hot rod and our bright white heart, so it's basically one on one on one on one. and just a little bit of reducer about five percent just to get it flowing and make sure it's nice and medium moist, that's really easy and again, because we're blending colors, I don't need to have a very light caramel to build up colors because va To do two things, when I have it more concentrated, I'm going to apply fewer layers to create the color I want and that will give me a lower tape edge so I don't have this big step that I'm trying. to bury when it's time to clean this up, so I already have it mixed in my gun or my mug and I really wanted to touch this too, you see we use the pps system, these are the 3m pps 2.0.
When they spray our hot rod shiny flakes or our big pearl, you guys gotta take out this coming screen, you gotta take it out right away. This is the only paint in our line that will not pass through these screens. These are approximately 200 microns. The screens are small and sometimes they get stuck there. Any of the smaller pearl flakes that we have, like our sparkly essence or our cosmic uh or lights, will pass fine, but the hot rod sparkles will get stuck. Up here, so you guys are going to want to go ahead and get that out before you start spraying, so I'm ready to go.
I'm going to grab my gun and we'll see you in a minute. Hi guys. We are ready to spray and again I cannot stress this enough. I want to play this again real quick. It's not like a broken record, but I mixed it one by one correctly, so it's our 40 50 in our candy and it's extremely concentrated. I would never recommend spraying it that concentrated if you are trying to cover an entire panel or something large and want a nice, uniform caramel. The only reason I'm going to use this concentrate is because we have small areas and it's already darker.
It's already color matched with the green and we're just doing graphics so it's going to be a lot easier to get coverage in two coats or instead of doing six coats so keep that in mind, never spray the candies that concentrate. so anyway I'm going to start spraying this is going to be coat number one so okay guys we're back my hood is completely taped off and now I think you guys can actually see what we were doing by putting layers those graphics on top and now these. the blacks seem to be in the back and now this emerald green really stands out and will be close to the front, so we are in the last and most crucial step of this whole process, which is the application of our sweet black, so the shape The way I mixed it is four to one, so it's four parts forty and fifty to one part black caramel and just a splash of reducer, almost nothing.
I'm spraying with one two and the actual technique, as much as I always say you want. do a medium wet coat for your candy, this is the only time I'm going to tell you to actually blow dry it because what you're trying to do is essentially create a window tint over this entire panel, so we're still going to spray the same way, at the same distance, about eight inches away, we'll do a 75 percent overlap, but we're just going to try to move really fast, probably double hand speed and we'll just put it more dryer than you normally would. spray a candy because what we're trying to do is block this in to the point where it's almost solid black, but two coats will probably be enough to do exactly what we want, so the other part of this that's really critical is seeing what I'm doing it for this.
I have a color that matches the sunlight. If you guys just have a brighter LED flashlight or something color corrected, that will help or you have the luma. I have a luma but I don't have it on me, right? That works too, but if you really want to see, if you're not very familiar, you'll want to see what you're doing. This is the most critical part and you really do it when I tell you that you want to see what the paint is working because if you over apply it, you're just going to wash it out, basically it's going to look very, very black, so I'm going to go ahead and apply the first layer to show you what it looks like, okay guys.
Back coat number one is dry and you can see it was very red when you put it on, you still want to see through it and that's really what you want, you don't want to get heavy so I'm going to put on my second coat and see how it looks , I think two will be the ticket. uh we'll let it dry completely and then we'll put a clear coat on it so you can see what it looks like. Hello everyone, welcome back, we are back. In the cabin we let our canopy dry overnight. I was getting close to the end of the day so we thought we'd let it sit overnight which is always good this is nice and dry and I'm ready to go so I'm going to put my 2k Top Coat on top we'll recommend the quality 2k top coat if you have seen other videos before you know i use ppg products and this is the same one this is the ppg ec550 it is a specific water based base coat system. clear coat so it's a great product it's one of the things we recommend so I'm going to go ahead and put the first coat on you guys can see what it looks like okay guys our project is done we're in the stand, that's all. it cleared up and this is the final effect you see, it actually cleared up twice.
I put on a couple coats of our ppg ec550, let it dry and covered it with 600 and rinsed it again only to lose those tape lines. real visual impact of what we're doing here, so I just want to give a quick little review now that we're done and we're actually going to try to take this outside. We have a sunny day so you really get the full visual effect and the sunlight outside so the caramel black was the last step and again I can't stress how important it is and how it is applied. I mixed it four to one so it's four parts 40 50 to one part caramel black. a little bit of reducer if you need to, depending on the size of your spray gun, just a little bit to get it flowing and you're actually going to do it like when I applied it, it's a little bit drier because all you're doing is trying. to just remove that color that you see so the effect layer was our uh hot rod sparkle green and again that's on a black base so you start with a black base for this case we used the hot rod sparkle green effect layer and then, our graphics were done on top of that, where we mixed in a little bit of hot rod sparkle green and hot on sparkle white and a little bit of our emerald green candy.
Now you can use any color in our line between our hot rod sparkles and our candy 20 lines, so that's totally up to you, but I just want to emphasize also because of the candy black color and how easy it is to over apply, you'll want to make a test panel. I actually did this once and we had a panel that I did a test and applied four coats of candy black and it ended up being a really cool effect, but it was very dull for what we wanted so I ended up speeding it up and you can see in the video that we did two coats and that was right on the edge of letting the hot rod shine show through, but without pushing everything to a really dark tone. background, so test panel, if you've never done this, it's something you're going to want to do, it's definitely a good way to see where you are or what you want to do to get the effect you want, so it pretty much wraps everything around. up and let's take this outside and see if we can get it some sunlight so you can see it okay guys we're outside in full sun and I really think you're going to be impressed with how this looks.
It doesn't really do it justice in the cabin, so this full sun that you guys can see from my angle looks black and as I turn it, all I see is the glow of the hot rod and those graphics with the candy on. them, so again, this is going to look really cool if they make something that's really rounded and has a lot of curves or something that has a lot of sharp body lines, it's going to look like two completely different colors, so that wraps it up. For this video, this is a
