Mr AMG on the New S63 Cabriolet! AMG’s Most Brutal Drop Top!!

Jun 06, 2021
Now you guys loved the s63 kupe as much as I did. It's been one of our best videos in terms of positive response, so even I, as a potential buyer, said I would love to have one of those cars and I started searching online and I came across, of course, the Cabriolet version. I thought it would be good to see what other reviewers thought of the British version of the Cabriolet. Unfortunately al

most

no one has done anything with this car, now I know it's a niche product and not many. They sell, but the problem is that everyone was talking about the 4matic version in Europe, which is a completely different car because it is rear-wheel drive, like the coupe we tested, so this car needs a little attention and needs some attention.

I love it and we will give it that attention and love today, so let's start by talking about this car, its design like we did last time. I'm not going to go into too much detail if you want to see the full review of the s class coupe cab look at the s63 a1 coupe but let's give this baby some love so this is of course the AMG s 63 Cabriolet. It shares the same facelift upgrades as the coupe, so of course that's always the first part we talk about. The new AMG as far as design is concerned is that Panamericana grille or the AMG specific cultivators that are starting to call it now and with this particular specification of the car in white it looks even more aggressive than on the black coupe we took a look at.

And one thing I don't like about the GTC roadster, which is pretty close in terms of price and power, and what not to this car. I don't like that front end now, I love the Pan American grille, but if we look at the GT that we reviewed the other day, which has the same front end, the air intakes to me look really very tame and it looks like something that could also be seen in terms of air intakes and front design in something like a normal class, while this car doesn't have that, it has a much more aggressive mouth under the Panamericana grille, which is really important for a car like this, it needs to look bad at least for looking different than your run-of-the-mill Mercedes, esp.

When you pay that kind of price now, the side profile is very important in convertible tops. Merc started the whole hard top convertible thing with the SL k back in the day but now they are going back to soft tops and I think a lot of the reason is that soft tops have a really good retro look even in a really boring spec. how are you doing. I'm sorry to say that this is like polar opposites to the S Coupe we had, which was black with chrome package. This one is diamond white, white with black. wheels and has a night package and what that means in Mercedes language is all the trim that was chrome on the coupe.

Check out our black tout on this at the front as well as around the air intakes and at the rear in terms of the diffuser. but the only thing left out, rather strangely of course, is the door handles that everyone complains about, but is this decorative strip that goes around the roof. It's a strange decision considering everything else has gone black. I think it would probably look better if you did. If I'm going for an overnight backpack, this should surely be black too, but it is what it is in terms of side profile. I think it's really attractive now, whether it looks better than the coupe, well this is the old one, the coupe looks better than the taxi argument, you guys tell me what you think in the comments and now I'll show you a photo of what the roof looks like when it's down from this angle, giving it a completely different look to the coupe. the rear again, night package, you can see you have the trim on the bottom it's all black, the exhausts are black too, it really looks good with a white car.
I just wish they had given him red clips of something on the outside to get it. a bad truth, the OLEDs in the taillights, we discussed them in the Escalade, are absolutely beautiful. I'll show them to you again because they are pure car porn. 33 small wafer-thin LED light strips, look absolutely amazing. they're unique to the coupe and the taxi, no other mercenary has them, no other AMG has them and that's very important now, while we're here, I'm going to lower the roof and show you what this view looks like, how you can do it. With just the key, which is cool and takes 20 seconds, the roof can be lowered at about 37 miles per hour while you're running, that's pretty cool, there you have the little Burmeister speakers as well as the speaker covers and there you have it. you have, 20 seconds later, it's a folding roof, if you hold the button one more time, it will also lower the windows, so this is the view now of the car from this angle.
I think it looks really amazing, it reminds me of the recent my back concepts where Mercedes has brought out these gorgeous retro looking long cars and this is the closest thing we have in fact the my back as 650 cab Relay , which was a limited edition model, was of course based on this. This is probably the It's better to have a car, but you didn't hear that from me. Some small things I didn't mention last time. Much of the technology of the normal S-class appears, so there is no wiper or, rather, washer. Jets in this car. The wiper fluid comes out of the wiper blades themselves, so none of that dirt is sprayed back onto the car or other road users;
It just comes out of this spray and goes over the front of the windshield and stays. All the crap here, which is great. One thing specifically about cabin relays, folding roadsters etc, especially the ones with the folding roof back and the engines in the front, is how much boot space is left afterwards and it's not that bad. this car actually, the a coupe has 400 liters, this one has 350, so there's not much in terms of what's been removed now, let's take a quick look at the engine. I have seen it before. I love it, it's my favorite engine, so we'll look at it again, it's the basic 4 liter Biturbo version of the e63, but this one beats the 604, so it's a little less than the 4matic versions, but it's an amazing engine, we'll hear it a lot in In this review I'm going to be a punk.
I haven't actually driven this car yet, so I'm going to experience it with you, which will be interesting now, a big difference in terms of the interior from this one, although it is very similar to the coupe, a route we reviewed, is which has carbon fiber and last time I talked about how amazing this front is, this front of the car is the way it goes seamlessly from the door to the front and when you have the weave of the carbon fiber it makes it look absolutely stunning, so it's definitely an option to have it instead of boring wood.
The rest of the interior. I'm so tired of cars turning black. I mean, I talked about this with you in the comments. like black interiors, I think they are boring, they work on some cars, they are on the GTO and you have the excessive yellow stitch, okay, but this is a cabin relay, when you have the roof down you want to see some color. or any interesting specification choices that have been made between roof colour, body colour, wheels, calipers, you know, is there a two tone interior? This is so mundane to me anyway, so in terms of facelift changes, let's get those out.
The first,

most

obvious one is the steering wheel. It's the new AMG steering wheel. This bottom is unique compared to other mercenaries. It has a similar structure with a very steampunk look. I love the touch buttons if you want to see a more in-depth review. Those check out the coop, a review spoiler, basically, very easy to use, very safe, keeps your eyes on the road, which is great. Obviously you have the new twelve point three inch screen. I'll show you the different driver zones you can have while we're on the road, the S classes have an actual seat button here and there's a good reason it doesn't have, for example, lumbar controls on the seats, everything is done specifically for the driver's seat or the passenger's seat and there are a There are many configurations, so this car has dynamic seats, which means that when you turn the steering wheel, this part the seats rotate with you and you can configure it in two levels, but you can also configure whether both passengers feel it or only one.
You can leave it on for the driver and leave the passenger alone, which is a very good option and shows that this is an S-Class; It's more important how the occupants feel, but it goes further, so while this one has massaging seats, you'd expect an S-Class to have it, but it's not just one or two options, you've got high intensity, heat, relaxation, back, hot, relaxing, shoulder activating massage, classic massage, mobilizing massage, active on the back, it's like having a physiotherapist with you in the car, it's like that. Mind-blowing, but that's why this is the best in terms of luxury lumbar.
Our options are wide. You have lateral shoulders that reinforce the lumbar up and down and then another interesting part of the seat is the seat heating balance that you can set. It's not just a matter of pressing the heated seat button, you can adjust the balance and this shows you that you are sitting in an S Class. It's not a simple technology, it goes further and then when people compare things like the C cabin or the ECAP with I'm thinking you guys need to try the S-Class because not only is it a notch above those it punches above its weight, but it also gives its competition bloody noses that are even more expensive than this .
Now, one thing to mention last time is something. It's called energizing comfort and it's an interesting option. What it basically does is change the environment of the car using all the available detectors. For example, the S class, as you may or may not have heard, actually has built-in perfumes. This is called. Peaceful mood and you get in here and then you come out of the air conditioning and flood the rest of the car and the energizing comfort use the perfume use the air conditioning use the seat heating with massage use even the ambient lighting and even the music and some of these options here to give you a certain atmosphere in the car or to give you driver training or just to change the way you feel while driving and you don't get this in anything else in terms of Mercedes.
Of course, you have all the ambient lighting settings, 64 colors, all these different zones and brightnesses that you can have, which are exactly the same as the S sedan. Don't expect to get out of an S sedan and have less technology in these, in everything case. I have more things now, as with all new AMGs, it has AMG track pace and what is that. Warns you right away only for race tracks. It can be configured for certain tracks around the world. All the famous ones. Gives you lap times in endurance races. time 0 to 30 0 to 60 0 to 100 and they will save all that in your driver profile and this shows you the radical change in AMG, it's not just about straight line performance, it doesn't matter if it's an s class or la or if It is the 4-door AMG GT that has the most capacity now to lower the roof you have to open this hatch and all the roof controls are here now this is what it is about with a convertible or a cabin relay now you can not only lower the roof here, there's also a separate button here to lower all the windows, which I'll show you as well, so that's a pretty nice touch and there's something else here, another button which is for an aerodynamic feature called an air cap and I'll show you what that looks like. , it's a feature that comes out of the front at the top here and basically prevents wind from entering the cabin and bothering the occupants, so it's a pretty cool feature that makes the car look like a bit ugly because out in my opinion, but you have to give something to get something.
Well, now that we have the roof down, this is the best time to be a little punk, so we put the car in Sport Plus. Now this car has a different Start and Comfort in Sport Plus, but if you want to see some more starts and what comfort sounds like, head over to the s63 review we did with the coupe. Today I'm going to be a hooligan with this car, so Sport Plus they will do it. ever the guild no, I don't know if it translates into the microphone how high the decibel noise is oh, it's just absolute evil.
Now this car of course also has an air scarf as you would expect and you need to have Caribou lace and when it had it. in the back and show you what the headroom is like with the roof closed and now closing the roof, oh that's really cool, so you still have lighting inside the roof that I wasn't expecting, so that's pretty amazing. I expect that to be negated immediately as soon as you have a soft top, but you still have lights there which is brilliant, we have plenty of headroom here, probably more than the chicken coop.
Actually I think I have at least one with my hands above my head, I'm five ten tall and the rest is exactly the same if I put this back in my seating position it's a pretty comfortable place to be you still have seats with heating too, but thethrill of having the Honestly, the change of the cabin is having the roof down, especially when you're sitting in the back, then it's a car for road trips, then it's something that when the sun comes out you want to enjoy and then, for Of course, you have all the free space in the world you need.
I might want to, but this is not the seat I want to sit in today. I want to sit in that seat and I want to go for a drive and see what this car is like, so let's get this car up now. Oh, how absolutely! Perfect day to drive an S-Class Cabriolet, much less the AMG version. The driving gods have been kind, so this is the first time I've driven this facelifted version of the car. I have driven the pre-facelift a lot with its 63 models and that. The car impressed me more than the coupe. In fact, I thought where have I seen it?
He criticized the coupe before the facelift for not having enough drama with the previous one because it had the roof done and you could hear a little more of the engine noise, which was great, but let's see , I'm going to experience this one with you, which goes However, it's quite interesting, so at the moment the car is comfortable, the exhaust is not blasphemy I know, but you still get a nice v8 Rumble, much like the sound type S 500 s 560, which is nice, actually it's both if Maybe it's not a little more than the prepaid, but what will sound a little later, so I'm driving now, we're going a little less than 60 miles per hour and, like the coupe, there is no sound, wind noise, road noise. anything and the reason is that here you have triple layer insulation on the roof, but if you look at the design of the roof, it looks just as solid and uses the same materials as the parts it is attached to in the rest of the car.
It's nice. It looks a lot like the Koopas roof, it rides beautifully, there's some Rumble if you want it, but essentially it behaves like the S sedan and that's the benchmark I put the S Cab and S Coupe against because the real S-Class is the S sedan, in whatever model it's in, it's the Big Daddy, which is the best luxury car in the world and these revamped cars and, in fact, the predecessors in terms of this refinement of the suspension and driving, they are like the sedan, so I would say to anyone who is worried about getting into one of these and thinking that they are going to lose, that even with the big 20 inch wheels on this car, now there is refinement, noise and the lack thereof, it's all great for an S-Class, but that's not why you buy this particular model, this is the AMG S 63 and it's a rear-wheel drive car with 604 brake horsepower, so We are not going to leave the exhaust off any longer, that will directly be able to do it.
Hear the exhaust flaps open now, the deeper rumble of the four-litre V8 is there immediately, you can see the difference it makes, so this is AMG's flagship engine, the full-litre Biturbo, which we often I mean like the best view in the world, so this one has 604 brake horsepower, just like the coupe. As you can see from the engine readout here, it goes up to 900 Newton meters of torque, the power curve is like the old naturally aspirated 6.2 engine, so it's a powerful and powerful engine. and it really feels like it. Also paired with this glorious v8 is the new 9 speed box.
I'm going to try it old as I said in the s63 review it's a really great Brock, it's reliable even in comfort mode it changes when you want it, in manual sport mode it's not really a mode I usually use because it's a little more Rumble, it's quite similar to comfort, so I'm going to do what you want it to do, let's put it in Sport Plus. -I'm going to put the suspension on Sport Plus now too because this is one of the few AMGs where I'm happy to use the suspension and Sport Plus, but first let's talk about what the sound is like with the roof up.
One problem I had with the c63s and the GTC roadster is that the roof just doesn't have enough sound compared to the coupe. This car is not like that, it is very close to the coupe and that is despite the triple insulation, so I don't know where the sound leaks from, but it is Jessica, a wonderful payment for such a big car too, but yes, also a sound excellent with the roof up which is really important because you can't always be driving especially in the UK we have a few months of good weather and then you have the roof up all the time so it's important for an AMG to sound good with the roof up and I found it a disappointing fact when I had the C63 S cabin.
I also found out that the GTC roadster now I know what you're thinking doesn't lower the roof because it's going to ruin your hair and you're going to look like a complete idiot but I came prepared I'll lower the roof I'm not going to look like an idiot because I brought this as a little souvenir from our mg 2018 road trip that you can check out on the channel. It's from legendary engine builder Michael Kubler. I hope you can see it in that Mike as you may or may not know the brands or builds all Pagani engines, the v12 for the Hawara hawaii Ribisi roadster Oh IRA, they also make all naturally aspirated gt3 engines for racing cars and historically It's done, the v12 is practically a living legend in the CLK GTR as far as AMG is concerned.
Mike, you're saving me from seeing myself whole. I do not like this. I don't like having control of the roof behind this huge hatch. It doesn't make any sense to me, but let's lower the roof. This, of course. It can also reach speeds of up to 37 miles per hour, which is great, so I can keep driving. I'm also going to raise the wind deflector which will help in terms of sound inside the car so right now m on Sport+ I'm going to change it back to comfort it would run out on I hope you can hear me well with the roof down that's the comfort mode with the flaps open, okay enough flirting let's take this to Sport Plus you can be A real hooligan in this car oh my god the sound of the s63 and e63 versions of this engine is just amazing.
I was making comparisons to the cabin of the c63 and the GT. I find this is stronger with the roof down and it also provides such a different experience. to drive the coupe which is exactly what you want when you buy a Cabriolet like this you want there to be more noise or excitement sunny sky you get all that in this s63 and more for me in this car the sound is the biggest factor important and this s63 is ridiculous, no way stopping should be this exciting in a car but it's in this one, as you know I'm a thug AMD driver, instead they can do both in this car. and as we talked about in the s63 coupe a, it has that duality, so if we put it back comfortable, it's completely silent again, even with the top down, you can't hear the engine, as you can see, I'm going 60 miles per hour. there is no sound from the downshifts, the gear changes are nice and quiet which is what you would want, it just behaves like an S Class but you go into race mode and suddenly you have a monkey behind you with the machine gun.
Wow, one thing. What I like is that there is now a slight difference in sound between Sport Plus and Race, where the race is a little more dramatic. Now we have to address the handling aspects because you always worry that when you enter a cabin shift you will get lost. the rigidity that the coupe that the car had was so beautiful and if you've seen a review of the s63 coupe and you saw that I was talking about how well this class drives and how good the electronic steering is in terms of giving you feedback of exactly where are the wheels is the same in the cockpit relay as you would expect it to be due to this technology that it shares with the s63 coupe, a so-called cornering lean and how the car turns and curves when a motorcyclist is Driving a motorcycle it takes an angle and leans, it gives you a lot of confidence when cornering, it's really important because some cars, when you don't have that, you can't gain speed and when you lose confidence in a heavier car like this.
It's just incredible when you drive something so heavy, it's a convertible, but you know where the wheels are, you know you have grip in the rear despite it being rear wheel drive and not 4matic, that's why you buy a car like this and I think That's the question at the end of the day, why do you spend so much more to buy a s60 3 Cabriolet? Why buy it when you can have a c63s cabin or you can go for one of similar price? GTC roadster, but for me this is coming from someone who owns a GTR and prefers harder cars.
I would take the s63 cabin every time, firstly it is louder and in almost every discernible scenario with the roof up and down the sounds, it is a much better cruiser when you put it in comfort mode. I'm going to do it again now just for the fun of it and you hear absolutely nothing it's just an s class and the magic body control suspension deals with bumpy roads like this is like nothing I've ever been on sitting, then I put it in race mode and I'm absolutely more under the car because why isn't it an AMG?
I'm trying to wrap this up by deciding what I would have instead of the a coupe and the cab. The handover is very difficult, I think the A coupe is a more attractive car, but if you can understand the cabin correctly, it has a lot more drama, it has a lot more events, since you don't lose anything compared to it. coupe, but when the weather is good it gives you a factor that the Koopa doesn't have, I have no doubt I would prefer it to the GTC roadster in the c63 s, it actually has seats, unlike the DTC roadster.
I don't think the SL is of any use anymore, it's almost become a redundant car, but the interesting new SL is undergoing a massive change, apparently the whole project is headed by AMG, it will return to the two-seater 2 plus I've been talking and talking about on Instagram, well a few years ago anyway when the SL was still around but it will be 2+2 again, probably something more similar to the DB 11, now I think it will be exciting, it's made by AMG. That's when weighing that against this will be a more interesting test, isn't it cool that a company like AMG continues to make crazy cars like this even when they don't necessarily have the sales numbers that other cars have?
They exist and I hope they continue to be made because it's a real buzz guys, thank you very much for watching this, it has been a blast to drive this s63 Cabriolet, what an incredible car, please like, subscribe and approve the videos you always make for me. I need to make more noise as always - see you soon hahaha yeah
