Most Important Scouting Job - Eagle Scout October Status Update
Feb 18, 2020hey guys Matt Gutman here a immaculate video and today is going to be my October Eagle Scout
status
update
in just two years this one I haven't completed much in the way of merit badges or rank but what I've been doing is focus on Leadership not only towards myself and towards the other Scouts in my troop. Now just a quick overview. There are seven Scout ranks, 16 leadership positions, and 21 merit badges he needs to Eagle Scout now, instead of just focusing on myself. I have been trying to teach. the other Scouts in my troop have different responsibilities, organizational skills, and leadership skills, so I can delegate goals to them to fill me in on all these different parts of the work I need to do now. i haven't completed anything but the ranks i got isscout
rank i actually made videos on how to get this rank so check the link is in the description Tenderfoot rank second class first class and i am currently and starscout
, so that's five of the seven ranks now leadership positions, as I said before, I was senior patrol leader, but the ones I've been before are quartermaster den senior patrol leader instructor and I was senior patrol leader , which is what this video will be based on and now I'm aiming to get another leadership position now here's a bit of a sad story now that I left my troop now this doesn't mean I stopped exploring it's that I had a very good reason why the one that was Scott didn't let him leave any more.I did not like. It completely changed when I was in charge and I'm not just saying that because it was in a different way. a new troop anyway I'm trying to get assistant senior patrol leader there so instead of having 5 out of 16 I now have a new leadership role as assistant senior patrol leader at least it's what I hope because then I can continue my months by being active in a troop th There are many more leadership positions, but I feel that being an assistant to the main patrol leader will be useful to me, since it will allow me to help.
I won't have to do all the work, but I still have experience so I can help the troop. which now I'm joining so that's five of the sixteen I hope it's six soon now when I was talking about Boylan that's what
scouting
is supposed to be led by the scouts with the adults having guidance if you' you are in a troop and you realize that maybe the adults are focusing too much on a couple of Scouts only or maybe the adults have taken over completely. I'm not saying your troop is wrong, I'm just saying that maybe something needs to be arranged. it's better to use more Scouts our leadership positions or more Scouts or plan things that's howscouting
is supposed to be that's why the term is called Scout led now when I'm joining a new troop or even when you're just joining to a new troop what are things? you should look up oh oh me I compiled a list of things I'm looking for as I join the troop of coursemost
important
ly Scouts provide leadership or a term many other people have heard Boylan but now people say Scout leadership , so I will too. want a troop to be fairly organized have schedules have future planning for events and activities people provide guidance to each other they are not just ordering each other where the upper class hierarchy is just ordering everyone else around everyone is giving mentoring each other, everyone learning from each other and everyone contributing to the troop and of course being asked to provide a fun experience because then why are you there? Now it's funny if it doesn't even belong to you, if it's not subject to everyone as a whole. Said about events, a troop should have at least one activity per month, preferably a campout, but it doesn't have to be a campout, some examples are biking or biking as shown here, swimming, walking, fishing , basi Any event that could be considered a troop activity may be outside of the scheduled meeting time, so once again, make sure the troop has an annual calendar of some kind or at least some outstanding event plans for you may have activities for the ranks or just for the experience. with just a little bit of planning in the background you can create a really good experience if you communicate it to everyone and also if you have a plan to start with if you show up to an event with nothing to do then you're literally just stuck there like it's to a camp with no goal, however if you plan ahead for this event here during summer camp you can really have fun.
This was an Indian event where there was drum music dancing and they even fired a cannonball at the end which was very nice to see and there was also a fireworks display that went on for a while and just a little extra planning and putting in some real effort in scanning can really make a world of difference to you and others in the truth so keep that in mind that you can, it's not just being in the scan oh it's boring you can do it however you want as long as you're putting the effort needed to make it like this, now just a couple more things to do Sure the Scouts are actually moving forward and not stuck in first place There was a boy in my troop or my previous troop who literally stayed in the same rank for longer than two years because the adults took over and we're not focusing on everyone that was focusing on a couple of Scouts we also want to grow personally to learn new skills If you are not learning if you are not integrated into the scouting program then you are not really gaining anything from it the troop is upholding the outdoor faith and code of the Scout Oath law and there is adequate communication between the troop.
I can't tell you how many times my troop has been in a rush due to a miscommunication, maybe an email didn't get sent or maybe the times got mixed up so just make sure it's not a nominee just not organized but let it be broadcast to everyone, communicate between the truth now i've been talking about more troops but that also influences an SPL so it needs to be that way to be an SPL because as I mentioned in other previous videos , the SPO is the top of the hierarchy or as you can say the PLC which is the patrol leaders committee, the SPO which is the senior patrol leader is at the top now before we get into that , let's talk more about my

first and then I'll talk more about the senior patrol leader, so like I said before I became a Star Scout, I completed this over the summer and that was actually a pretty big milestone for my career as a Star Scout. explorer, so for an exp life speaker i'm 46 percent of the way there because i'm still waiting to get service hours which i need six of them but that's in progress i also need a couple other things but service hours is when i'm mainly focusing on you I need to be active for at least six months as a Star Scout, which I'm not too worried about since I'll be joining another troop very soon Demonstrate the Scout spirit Earn five more merit badges so you have eleven in all, that includes one person A Star Scout needs to participate in six hours of service, three of which must be conservation related and be active for six months in a position of responsibility or in leadership positions, so I mentioned to the assistant senior patrol leader that I wanted being in my new troop and also using the edge method to teach another Scout and that's really all I need.I already have the Scout spirit demonstrated. I have the five plus merit badges. I only need the six month waiting period and the six hours of service for Eagle Scout. I'm 61 percent of the way in progress that's the whole goal of my channel and my overall goal for exploring the Eagle Scout merit badge is that I'm not going to list them all because they're the same as my the first status update so I'm not going to name them all again I'll just say that technically I have 20 of the 21 required but that's just technical because it's 20 total not 20 which is required for Eagle if that makes sense based on how many badges i have with silver rings around them which requires an
eagle
i actually only have 17 out of 21 which means i still need four more now the above i need our family life community citizenship communication and personal fitness that I haven't started yet but will be doing some non-eagle
very soon that I'm working on just to get more experience is archeology merit badge reading and ar so i hope in the next few months i will have eight more mayor badges and also if i get the four on top that's all enough for the 21 i need for eagle scout so i made a video on camping last week so check the jailbreak link will be in the description.I think it's very helpful because I cover very
important
tips and tricks for earning the camping merit badge another merit badge I got is cooking this one was really long but I finally completed it last month and emergency preparedness as well when i started back in summer camp and then finished mayor badges in my spare time i am working on now is communications. I'm ninety-two percent of the way there, so that's in progress. family life. I need to finish a few more things but not just a few but I'm almost
done with a few more things so it says 44 but once I finish these last things I'll have the mayor badge so that's in progress citizenship in the community twenty nine per percent is in progress salesmanship I'm ten percent and archeology six percent railway three percent reading zero percent I haven't started it yet but I'm planning to and the last mayor badge I'm trying to get is personal fitness which is one of the Eagle requirements and that's zero because I haven't started I haven't started Speaking of starting why do I start explaining what SPL is and maybe my time as SPO?Now there are common misconceptions. SPO is not in charge of everyone. SPO is in charge of POC and they are in charge of doing all the background planning like they don't really like to say what exactly happens at each event they are just doing the background planning on what can be where they are going what is the price maybe contact people and the SPO is in charge and they supervise all the other people in the troop and the PLC now don't do all the work they delegate from the PLC they can delegate to the senior patrol leader assistant they can delegate to patrol leaders and when it does it works efficiently as a troop together so the SPL is literally the backbone of the troop without a fully functioning SPL you can't have a fully functioning troop now in my time as an SPL , I was able to rebuild a dead troop but eventually got it up to 12 and was able to function and that's why I wanted to provide leadership not swords to myself but to others in the troop because as soon as I finished e SPO that means someone needs to take my shoes and do everything I've been doing, so I've been trying to teach the other Scouts about different leadership positions.
I've been trying to make them more organized. I've been delegating more targets to the squad leader to see if they can handle it without me doing everything and so far. It's worked and now that I'm literally not in the troop, I hope they can stick with it. My favorite time in Petrolia is probably during summer camp because everything worked so well that there were essentially no problems and summer camp was probably my favorite time. because we had a schedule everything went well we've been planning it for a month and when we got there we just set our stuff up and start planning more things and what we're going to do what time what days are c certain events happened and it was probably one of the best times my troop has ever been able to work together thanks for watching my eagle scout
