Mixing Every Beauty Guru's Eyeshadow Palette Together

Jun 03, 2021
our last final

guru

is Huda Kattan, also known as Huda Beauty, or as Tyler likes to call her... Tyler can't say "Huda Beauty." To be fair, it's hard to say. Now, Huda, like a couple of other

guru

s we have in this stack, I think he's primarily an Instagram creator. I know she has a Facebook Watch show too...I...I think. But she, of course, has a YouTube channel, so I felt like, all things considered, she should be on this list. Plus, as we touched on before, her brand is pretty good. *sung* Huda Booty, Huda Booty, rocking

every

where.

As they say. Alright, after twelve Huda

palette

s, we finally get to the last one. This is all that's standing between me and sleep right now. So let's ruin it. We finish with an orange. If I take it. Alright. Let me put this on top of this precarious pile and let's examine our mix, shall we? In the end we had seventy

palette

s, from thirty different gurus. Many dumps were made in this document. Look how bad his aim was. With a total of 759 individual

eyeshadow

s, which gives an average palette of about eleven shades. Alright, I've drilled the middle.

More Interesting Facts About,

mixing every beauty guru s eyeshadow palette together...

Oh, it's deep! So in our mix, as well as our average palettes, we had 62% neutral colors and 38% colorful colors. Oh wow, I just saw some Crusty hair there. Let me get it. --with 27% of those colors being purple, 18% pink, 14% blue, 13% orange, 13% green, 9% red and 6% yellow. So while actual red shades are not very common, it seems that variants of red, such as purple, pink, and orange, are very popular. And all of that leaves our mix looking like this and our average

beauty

guru palette looking like this. Oh, and we also discovered that 54% of the shadows were matte, 40% were shimmer shades, and 6% were shimmers.

Also represented here in our theoretical palette. So I think now that we have this mix, maybe we should get out the Fixy kit and see what happens. So with the Fixy kit, you first grind your shadows through the sifter. As it goes through the grinder, it starts to look very metallic. I'm seeing some shine up here. After that, you pour the shadow base into the pan you want to use and give it three to four drops of this type of hand sanitizer-scented product. Alright, one more just for fun. Ah! Tyler: Oh yeah. Okay, I made a little more than recommended, but I want it to be strong.

Now I have to place this lid firmly on it and press for (oh, I should be standing) press for ten seconds. After that we simply lift the lid... Eeehh? Tyler: Huh? …and we already have our eye shadow. Sooooo! Hello Franken-guru, and welcome to the world. I have created an eye shadow. It smells like alcohol. First impressions on how it looks on my hand is that it definitely looks warmer and browner than the shade we made when we mixed just my personal

eyeshadow

s last year. But similar to that, I see a lot of glitter there, as well as some multicolored flecks if you look close enough.
So the Fixy kit says you can use your freshly pressed shadow in just a few minutes, but I'm going to let it dry overnight, because we've been blending for hours and I'm about to pass. outside. So I'm going to put my Franken-guru shadow here and tomorrow, when we finally wake up, I'll come back and grab it and wear it all day. But in the meantime, we'll place it here so it can sit on the pigment throne. Alright. It's the next day and our shadow looks dry and ready to apply. I also have a pimple on my nose to join us on this journey, so welcome, pimple.
Alright, this is what it looks like this morning. I think it looks a little more purple and burgundy than last night. However, it still looks more brown than the Franken shadow I made last year. This is what the sample looks like in full sunlight. *Both Saf and Tyler*: Ooooo. It is quite shiny and has a pinkish copper tone. And then, under indoor light, the sample looks like this: less bright and more the color of a penny. Alright, let's put it on. So I'm going to put on some eye primer, just to give this eyeshadow a fighting chance.
Ooh. It is appearing very quickly. I think with the last shadow Franken I had to increase it a little and this one I would say is more pigmented. I think it works quite well as a general eyelid shade and overall, indoors without sunlight, it looks like a flattering, warm, rosy, taupe brown. I hope there weren't too many descriptors. But that's how I feel about it. So I'm going to finish my makeup real quick and cover up our friend, Sir Pimple. Lady Pimple. Judy Espinilla. And then we will register again. Alright. So this is my finished makeup look.
I think this Franken-guru on the entire lid with the rest of my makeup actually looks kind of dramatic. I feel like I'm a **dramatic pop**. But worn more sparingly and perhaps with less of a cat-eye brim, I think it would be more subtle. So now that I've got my makeup on, we're going to go out, see what the shadow looks like in different lights, and then we're going to do some different activities, including finding a duplicate at Sephora and also looking at the shadow under a microscope. Alright. Come on. Tyler: Ooooo. Oh, the sun is shining!
Tyler: Right in the eyes, sorry. Oh, it's really brilliant! I feel like a cat in the sun or like a raisin, or that's a poetic joke. I apologize for that too. I'm going to make an apology video after this. Tyler: Yeah, but this apology video will just be failed pranks. Okay, now that we've seen it in the sunlight and I've slightly damaged my retinas. Let's go to Sephora and see if we can find a similar shade. So I'm going to take a sample of the Franken-guru I have in my hand to help us in our search for dupes.
There are many candidates misled because it is just a neutral gloss. But it's also something quietly unique. Because it's between purple and brown and also between matte and like a true metallic. I assume it's some kind of satin? So, in reality, it is difficult to match it. As you can see from the numerous samples I have in hand. We also have a crusty sampler right here. Tyler: Oh yeah. Tyler: We need to cut his nails. Alright, after a good amount of swatching, I came up with four finalists, which I think are pretty close, but out of the four, the winner for me is this shade here, which is a shade from Dior Backstage.
It's called "Shimmer Purple" In a palette called "Cool Neutrals" So I guess Dior thinks this is a... Cool Neutral Purple Shimmer Which is not what I would call it. but... it's a pretty good deception. Well, we're home a few hours later and I thought it was time to do more science. So I got out my trusty microscope so we could take a closer look at what's going on here. 'Okay, so I'm going to take a swab on my arm and then we'll see what we can see. Ooohoo! Interesting! Oh wow, you can see a lot of different colors under the microscope, come look.
I can see some sort of brown particles in the crevices of my skin, but with the glitter covering my scales you can see many different colored glitters. Look, you can see like an orange, a blue and a pink. All these things cannot be seen with the naked eye, but with science they can be seen. Tyler: "Science," aka a $19 microscope from Amazon. So, as an additional comparison, I'm going to show the OG Franken shade next to it, so we can see the difference. Oh interesting! Well, this shadow is obviously much older than the Franken-guru; in fact, I think it's almost exactly a year old.
Tyler: This is kind of like the one year anniversary. Oooh! And when I look at it under the microscope, I see some different colored pigments, but I would say overall I see fewer different flecks, I think. It's a little more frosted and less multicolored, I think partly because the gurus had more different colored glitters than I did in my personal collection, and I theorize that the glitter bits are what we're seeing here. Alright. It's been quite a few hours, so I think it's time to end the day using our Franken-guru eyeshadow. I'd say overall it looked pretty good, it still looks pretty good on the eyes, and in terms of the color, I think it's a pretty color, although I will say I wasn't surprised when it turned out. be like a warm, bright brown, just because of how many neutrals and variations of red were thrown into the mix.
And I think the strong representation of those colors may simply be because neutrals and pink tones are easy for a lot of people to wear, although I'm kind of suspicious and wondering if there's some color theory to it, just because I've seen stuff about how fast food restaurants, and restaurants in general, choose red, yellow, and other warm colors for their logos, because that makes people hungry and more likely to come in. So I wonder if maybe the same thing could happen on social media: like a warm-toned look could make people, you know, feel comfortable and ready to like it.
Of course, that's just a hypothesis. I don't know much about color theory. But it sounds plausible. So, to really put a stop to our day, I thought it would be appropriate to make one more tea joke. Tyler:....Oh my god. So I bought some empty tea bags to make some Franken-guru tea. It's something like stone soup, but no. Okay, I'm going to boil the water so the tea is hot. Should I leave room for milk? Both: No. Look, this feels like one of those things where someone should have stopped me before I got to this point.
Tyler: Yeah, I think he's sitting behind the camera right now Hee hee hee. Alright, I let the tea steep for a couple of minutes, so, ah, here we go! Health! To the gurus. Ooo! It tastes like chalk. But, you know, it's actually not that bad. Kind of... a bad feeling in the back of my mouth. Like it felt a little like dust back there. But ultimately, I would take another sip. Do you think this is bad for me? Tyler: Most likely hmm. Valid. Well, that's Franken-guru's eyeshadow. Obviously, this time, I don't have many to give away, but I'd still like to hear the guys' name suggestions from him in the comments below.
Also, we just restocked our Bat Bitch hoodies on our merch site, as well as a few other items, so if you're looking for your size, it should be there, including XXL and XXXL. She made this face on the paper towel. I think I just exorcised angry Pac-Man from the
