Mercedes GLE vs BMW X5: Which Is The BEST Premium SUV? | 4K

May 01, 2024
This is the BMW X5, more specifically, it's my BMW Should I have bought something more specifically? I bought the Mercedes Gle from its archrival. Well today probably against my better judgment I am going to compare these two cars to see if I was wrong or not. I hope I haven't. This is auto trader uk where we drive the latest the

best

giving you the good the bad and the ugly so subscribe and if you've been watching don't stop never stop let's start with the design obviously I prefer the look of the bmw x5, so I bought what I actually used to have, a previous generation model and although I think this new one is a good evolution, I love the flared wheel arches, the big 22 inch wheels, I just don't like its appearance. miserable, I approach this car and feel like it doesn't want to be close to me, on the other hand, I think the x5 looks good from all angles, front, rear, the proportions are correct, the only thing I don't like is the color I bought this car on the internet and I wanted a black car so I took the option that said carbon black and when it arrived I was expecting black but actually if you look closely it is dark blue, very dark blue and it bothers me every day .

I see this car but obviously that's just my opinion, let me know in the comments below

which

one you think looks better while I answer the next question

which

one is better for the passengers. Well, they're both similar in size, so in theory they should both be. the same amount of space in the back seat except they don't look at the amount of legroom I have in the gle masses now compare it to the legroom I have in the x5 the difference is completely day and night night also in the gle, you have digital controls for the rear climate control on the x5, it's completely analog, not a deal breaker but I will tell you what the USB ports are on the x5, there is not a single USB port on the back later, which let me tell you it is. very annoying if you have kids it means you'll have to run a cable from one of the two USB ports on the front to the back, an inelegant solution to be fair BMW could have updated the back of the x5. since i bought my car in 2019 but you want to check that before you buy it although one area where the x5 is better than the gle is with the back seat pockets check this out you only get mesh here which means if you want to keep your devices hidden while you go shopping.

More Interesting Facts About,

mercedes gle vs bmw x5 which is the best premium suv 4k...

Virtually anyone can look at the back of your car and realize you have an iPad or phone back there in the x5. It is a suitable pocket for all your devices to be hidden. Now which one has the

best

surface trunk? It appears to be the x5, which has a 650 liter boot compared to the Mercedes' 630 liters. I also like the fact that the x5 has underfloor storage with a gas strut. Both the x5 and the gle are available. with an optional third row of seats, mine doesn't have it because it wasn't available when I bought the car, but the new x5s do have that option, this is how it works in the gle, you press a button in the back seat and it folds down front to allow you to crawl back, there is enough headroom in the third row, even for me who is five foot eleven, but the legroom is for children or people with vertical difficulties, only all the seats can be folded with Just press a button to create a flat load compartment, making both cars ideal for trips to your local.

You know where we'll call this giveaway. The next question is which is the best to drive. Let's start with the gle. It's a really nice place to sit. Honestly, I love the interior design. One of my highlights here is this center console with these huge, thick handles with integrated ambient lighting that looks sensational. I also like the dash which has leather on top, wood effect on the bottom and something classy. Fancy stitching I'm not so sure about these rectangular vents, I prefer the circular turbine vents found on some other Mercedes cars, but overall they've done a great job here, is it as good as the x5 interior?

I think it's a matter of personal taste, but in general, yes, I like it, we also have to talk about the screens. These screens look absolutely phenomenal. You have two screens, one for your infotainment system and another for your entire driver. data, the one on the left side is where you will find your sat nav, your media playback etc. and it can be controlled by using your finger by swiping left or right or by using the mouse trackpad on the center console or by using this special touch sensitive, I don't know what you actually call it a nipple on the steering wheel, so you swipe right. left and right and that will move the touchscreen here to the position that you swipe in as far as the driver's screen, which is pretty much controlled on the In the same way, there is a second nipple on the right side of the steering wheel that you allows you to customize various settings on that screen so you can have the exact look you want.
Mercedes is once again at the top of its game when it comes to its infotainment systems, the seats are nice too, this is the

premium

plus model so you get nappa leather and they are phenomenally comfortable, with plenty of adjustments on the seats and steering wheel, so it doesn't matter if you're four feet tall. At five foot five or eight foot six you will find a good driving position in this car in terms of driving, very easy, it is a big car so you may find it a little difficult to park in the city or in the parking lots, but here, outdoors.
On the road there is no problem at all the controls are nice and smooth the brakes are progressive the throttle won't surprise you it's an easy car to drive what's less impressive is the suspension it's actually quite wallowy it feels a little like you're in an En boat in the ocean, a lot of these roads here are not completely flat, so some parts go down and some parts go up and the angle seems to follow those movements on the road, so you end up feeling like you're traveling on top of jelly, it's not horrible but it's a bit disconcerting once you notice it you can't go unnoticed in the corners it's not that bad it stays flat but on a straight it's a bit comically wallowing as for the steering its reaction is quite slow it means having to do some pretty big movements on the steering wheel to get the car turning again, that's not necessarily a bad thing but it does mean that the gle doesn't feel particularly agile, something some people might wish for in terms of acceleration, well this is the gle 400d.
So in theory, it's pretty fast. According to Mercedes, it won't hit 62 in 5.7 seconds, but in the real world it doesn't feel that fast when you put the pedal to the metal, it's not that impressive, actually, this is a fast car, but it could be. The slowest and fastest car I've ever come across, it may not be a big deal to many people, but if you buy this version, the 400d, specifically because you think it's as fast as a Porsche in a straight line, then I think it's It's important for you to know that it doesn't feel fast, the BMW a lower spec car and is slower on paper.
BMW estimates it will do 62 degrees in 6.1 seconds. This doesn't feel any slower than the Gle. It actually feels faster. Acceleration just feels much more immediate, almost as if it has more torque. t, but it just feels like that, the x5 also feels faster in the corners, the

mercedes

has the 48 volt active roll stabilization technology and this is not so, so the corners are much flatter in the corners, but even though there is a bit more body roll on the on the x5 it sits very low on the chassis compared to the

mercedes

and i wouldn't be surprised if that gave it a much lower center of gravity, that's certainly what it feels like, both cars weigh almost exactly the same and although my Tires are over two years old, I would say my better plus it's as comfortable as the gle but most importantly it doesn't feel like a boat this is definitely the car for better drivers now the next question is which one has the better technology this is a tricky question because they both have Its strong points, the infotainment screen on the gle is at the top of its game, it's beautiful and well integrated, the x5 has something very similar, so there is a separate screen for your navigation and your infotainment and a Separate screen for your driving data, but I think it looks better on the GLE, one thing the X5 has going for it.
What I like is the gesture control, so you can move your finger in front of the screen to turn the volume up or down or you can skip to the next track or the next radio station or go back using your thumbs or you can swipe. Left to get rid of traffic alerts or phone calls you don't want to receive in the car, the GLE doesn't have that, but it does have its own unique features, including an augmented reality navigation system that uses the camera. on the front of the car to overlay a live feed of the images in front of you with virtual graphics to tell you exactly where to turn.
Also talking about graphics, the resolution and images on the Mercedes look better than the BMW. It's not far off, but Merck has really got it right, although it could all be irrelevant because most people will end up using Apple Carplay or Android Auto and I think that's where the x5 has the advantage because with Apple Carplay it takes up the entire screen. See, everything is full of apple goodness, whereas in the gle you only get part of it and that might be a deal breaker for me. The next question is which one is the best value for money.
Well, this one is quite complicated. Both cars are priced at around £60,000 and also have very similar running costs. The gle 400d will get 33.6 miles per gallon in the city, while the equivalent x540d will get just 35 miles per gallon, not a huge difference at all, but over many years. ownership, that 1.3 miles per gallon difference could result in substantial savings. The next question is which is best for reliability. Obviously I can't talk about the gle because I haven't had it for very long, but I can talk at length about the BMW X5. In the two years and eight months that I have owned this car, several things have gone wrong.
Let's say first that a sensor failed, causing the car to sit at too low a ride height, making it ride a bit like a low driver. It was easily fixed, they changed the sensor and the car was fine, but about a year later something else failed with the brakes and then something else with the steering, and let me tell you, your brakes and steering failed in the middle of a 60 degree trip. miles. an hour with your children in the back, well, let's say it concentrates the mind. BMW, to their credit, took the car away once I changed my underwear and they changed the ecu and then the car was fine.
I had a courtesy car and It was all good, the treatment I was given during that process was really good, but the reliability on my particular x5 I'll give it a c plus a quick update for you, although hot off the press since I recorded this review, the gle went bad, a sensor failed which caused the car to lose power meaning I couldn't accelerate faster than a bike again, although Mercedes solved the problem, they sent an engineer to replace the sensor himself day and it was ready, which brings me to the final question. Which of these two cars would you have?
I definitely prefer the look of the x5. I definitely prefer the ride and handling, but I think the Mercedes Gle is probably the better family car because it has a much more spacious interior. much classier cabin in some ways and ultimately if you don't care about driving or looks, that's probably the car to have, although I do care about driving and I care about ride quality, as does that anyone who regularly transports passengers and the x5 is by far the best machine in those two aspects, although the gle is still decent, if you're going to push me, I'll stick with the x5, peace, oh no, I know this, Alright.
