Mar 06, 2024
this is where the chaos begins welcome back to another exciting episode of Honey Bee have fun with me yeah honey in today's episode let's go ahead and give you a little background. Yesterday I received a phone call from a lady who is a little small. cabin she rents out on her property as an Airbnb. One of the tenants who had stayed there for a few days discovered that they had some

bees

in the back, under the closed back deck. Report that these

bees

haven't been there for a really long time, like a couple of days, so with that being said, let's go ahead and go over there and see what we can get, so here they are, check it out, huh, so there's gotta be some kind of space in the place where this publication goes. out there and they're trying to get in hopefully we're gonna go up here and catch some bees before they get that before they get in here and now I gotta open there's a screw there's a screw so if there's a screw there, It'll just be a little cut in the corner, we can open it up, try to get them out, we've got bees up here.

Fanning it makes me wonder, I wonder if this is Overflow getting ready to swarm, he's not being very nice. Right now it's really nice, let's get them moving again, it's pretty calm, cloudy and rainy today so not many flights, but man, to have them like this and not go crazy, what we'll do is just start collecting some bees little by little. little bit and vacuum them up and see if we have a queen here and then we can figure out what's going on in the empty space, so let me shine my light there, you see. I can get in there, so we're going to have to drop the board on the good side.

More Interesting Facts About,

massive beehive found with 7 queens and 10 lbs of bees...

I think we can cut a straight line and only get a quarter of this out, so let's go get the drill. and look what we have no one expected this that's why we tell them you only know it for a few days that doesn't mean they've only been there for a few days holy guacamole um holy there's like 10 pounds of bees in here. I'll tell you right now that if I find a queen in this mess, you better subscribe and share the stew in this video, since she has the biggest one this year overseas, so we're getting there.

We can actually see the comb well and when we get further to the front, this is where the entrance was, so this would be the first comb they built and by the color they have been here since last year, probably two years ago , this will be some of the newest ones and this is probably this pretty white comb, it's this year's comb. What I do is reduce the numbers, give them a few minutes to relax, don't pressure them, don't make them angry, they will start coming here. Covering this honeycomb and keeping it warm on top of a hive is basically an incubator to store your food and make your babies in this area, but they must maintain a certain temperature so that those little eggs can hatch into bees. going down to cover the bottom parts of the comb and between the spaces so that the eggs can incubate and maintain the temperature and not get cold.

The brood really, just after a minute or two, they all came down and are covering the areas. to where this is where the brood or the babies would be and they have come down to be able to cover that and that makes it easier for me to collect them, we have to collect these bees, start pulling this comb, uh with the nectar and the honey in him and there are still combos that can be so mom is still up there I guess she'll be way up here somewhere there's an old saying practice makes perfect well that's wrong practice becomes permanent you can practice all day how Kick a ball through the goalposts on a soccer field and if you don't kick it the right way, you'll never make it.
You can practice and practice the wrong way over and over again and it will become permanent until you get it right, it's not perfect so it's all going great. We take out one of the first pieces of comb. The comb is very firm, which makes it much easier to handle in hot weather. It's very soft and then it breaks. and problems, but isn't it cool just the next piece they were starting to build? Come on girls, you're not up there. It's a neat little comb that's as clean as you'll ever see it there, okay? gang, we have most of the food or honey stores, but as you can see, we still have a lot of bees, but now I'm going to have to start being careful because I want to find that Queen.
We would like to cage her and the reason I cage her is to keep up with her for the next few days. This will help enclose the bees we got from this job in their new hive at my house. Take them to the new box and give them time to stay and start setting up. I'll let her go after about two or three days once they've started building Comb and have everything ready and they'll just head back to Bnb, so we finally have our first box. I am very hot in my first box of bees and we are starting a second box.
There are a limited number of bees that I will put in a box when I bring them because they generate a lot of heat. so we have a second box going and we are about to get more bees, many more bees. This thing is crawling with bees and look what I

found

while we were shooting the video. These are beekeeper queen cells, you guys I know you know what that is. es, but for those who are new to the channel, that cell right here, there's actually another one behind it, those are the cells where they raise a new Queen, so the number of bees that we had here and then finding where they were The cells are locked, they were within a day or two of half of this colony completely leaving and going somewhere else, guys.
I'm about to have a big problem five minutes ago it closed. I just moved this here and it's about to open. It's about we're about to see a queen hatch, I mean really, now that was just a cup, here's another one and here's another one, but she's trying to get out of there. I think, oh wow, she's already out. No. there she is there she is look at this look at this holy shit here she comes oh snap there she is there's a newborn queen oh man wait holy cow that was easy to close right there um we just had one queen that hatched, so Yeah, we have another one running around somewhere down here.
I don't know where she went and I hope she figures out how to get back here, but now I have to worry about this one and this one talks about the time it was quiet. these are here now I wonder if they have one this is an unreal

found

er there is the first one who made hash she was there she was here cleaning and I was looking at this bean and thinking what is that what is that shit there is another one oh let's go be nice to her, I have to go get another cage, there are two of them, I have to turn her around the right way, I'll put her in this old cage here, okay, she's there and she.
I can't get out because that thing is there, but she has a wax cap, so there were two. Well, look, a big drone comes out. Hey, fat boy. Okay, see you in a minute, buddy, I hope so. this one decides to come out when I'm not looking and it's basically going to stay here on top of all this stuff so yeah let's see what happens five Queen cages a lid I still have a lot of bees to get this uh this is getting interesting okay so I have to clean that honey right there, get the bees out, clean that place and we have a lot left, there's another one, mine bad, cake, one, a little cage, go in there, one, two, three, he's still looking.
You, so I'm not waiting. I should know we've already caught three. I want to know if this one here is any good. All three were fine. We found failure. Let's see if there's a queen there. Look at this. She comes here, she comes. I'll make some space for you. Yes, she's going out. Here is number four. Can you make it big, old, fat butt? Come on, come on, come on, I'm here. I'll give you a little more space. it's there it's there we go there it's dark number four she's oh she's got dark dark for her well would you mind just walking right into this cage?
Come on, get up there, I get up there, a cap that comes off and then there's four of them all right, I'm going to open this one because I guarantee we have a good one there, yes they're already starting to remove some of that wax from the bottom, they were starting with that one, but this one is pretty advanced even more hey girl, hey girl, hang up. in I'm happy, you gotta help you there you go there you go let's go outside let's go hey little one how are you how are you get in here right here get in there we go, these are so advanced that I'm really starting to worry now that we don't actually have a Queen docked here, I mean, yeah, oh, that's cool, that was fast, little Zinger, oh shit, wait a minute, oh, she's a runner, come on, mom, I can get it. right in this one, come on, baby, very gentle, come on, she goes into that house, there you go, which was already closed at the bottom and shoots.
I'm just making sure I don't have another queen in there, but the top is closed. The bottom is closed and there you have six unmated

queens

out of that hive so far and those two were there so this is amazing absolutely amazing so we have six

queens

in the cage and I found this in my last frame now we have to preserve it. our eyes open for a little sass she won't sit still a little Queen without a partner to run around here I probably already sucked her in, it's not like I don't have six others around but now I have one running around here I have to find because it fits a queen cage here we go guys we have it in the box last night I put all the queens we had caged in that box these are Fanning but they are still quiet and this is the one I wonder if we really have a queen, another queen in there when you are 10 pounds of bees, you need something big for them and that's what we're going to do here, there, see, they're ready to come out, so I've got everything closed, but look here, they can come out, so we're going to slide partially back, let's go To start letting them out now, let's check the front. entrance and look what's going on here look at this oh Isn't it cool?
They are ready to go out and take a walk. Thank you yappy for giving us a new home. I'll give you a minute, so I'll cover. I cover them because the bees will light up okay so if I have the top open they'll just fly back up there so let's give them a little bit to settle in and start to figure out this is home okay let's see if we got them to leave us some thanks, okay, let's give this a push. This is where the chaos begins, so I'm going to take this box and fix it. over here, but now, hey girls, you have a queen in there, anywhere, let's go ahead and start giving them some room to climb and separate them from each other.
Watch out girls, come on, let's just go so you can calm down and relax. Out babies, I don't want to squish any of them, so be careful, babies, be careful, so what I'm going to do is just set it up, okay, all I want to do is start getting them into the frames that we're going to give them. A little bit of time to do that and then I could take these covers off and start checking there and see if we can't find another queen. Now we still have about three or four pounds of bees left in this one.
Now it's time to throw in the other five pounds of bees and see how things go, they took out one of our queens, they didn't take that one out, that one is still there, I tried to get that one out, she's still there. Alright, that one's still there. I'm going to check that one out and that one is still there, so we sure have a Queen on the loose. Great, let's get these others out of the way and see what happens. Worst case scenario, let's find a ball of bees hanging on a tree, let's be on the safe side, let's take and put one of those queens that I know can't escape, we'll put her in a cage so they can feed her, but she does.
It won't escape, okay, so we've got a secondary in there just in case, okay, let's go ahead and smoke it, try to put this last cover on, close them, let it start to acclimate to the main entrance, okay, this is like the Best update I can give you right there in the center you see that Queen right there that's our Queen oh she's beautiful that Queen was a born Queen we didn't find a mated Queen I would hate it I could have put everything in there was a mated Queen in that Hive which is the darkest Queen I've put up this year.
I had to make you wait until the end to see it, but hey, you should have been watching the whole video. anyway, but we just got through about 10 frames and finally got to the one that's laying eggs, so I'm really happy, thanks.
