Making a 700HP Toyota Supra With a Big Single Turbo!

Jun 03, 2021
This is the only thing you need to see at the beginning of this video to know that we have a very exciting week ahead of us in my Mark Five Supra. I pretty much have a downtube and a tune right now, but I'm working on it. With a stock

turbo

setup, the car is currently doing high 300s. I think we did a pass with 400 horsepower but it's mainly

making

between 380 and 390. This is Garrett's g30 770

turbo

which is capable of

making

over 700 horsepower and with this turbo I have the tuned turbo kit p that comes with a nice new downpipe manifold, wastegate as well as all the sensor lines, fittings, wastegates, wastegate everything, I'm not too sure how much horsepower we're going to get right off the bat because there's fuel modifications.

You need to hit 700 wheel horsepower on the

supra

, creating that much power in this car it's still a little bit on the new side, there are a lot of cars that are doing it, but as far as getting it perfect and not using meth and just pump gasoline. From what I understand, it's not very close to that, so I'm not quite sure how much this kit will make yet, but I do know that it's capable of making over 700 horsepower, but I don't know if I have the fuel mods for Support. That's still before starting the installation, we have to remove all the original components.

I'm in the car cooling down right now and while it's going down, I'll pull out the intake and start removing everything. more is necessary while it is cooling I removed the air inlet and also removed the air inlet tube. Now I'm going to remove the charge pipe that is at the bottom of the turbo inlet and goes to the intake manifold. Too easy. just a big clip down there and then it's just two bolts on the intake manifold inlet also in our mind you guys that first of December we have the winter collection, we have a million new t-shirts, long sleeve windbreakers, sweatshirts , hats, beanies, sports suits sports pants women's clothing and accessories December 1 follow the instagram right here to get all the updates so you don't get left behind the original turbo manifold is about to come out we just have to remove one bolt and our oil feed and drain line special guest danny is in the house and danny has a lot of experience with the miata on the turbo so he's going to help us out today.

He's assembling the purge valve. I'm not filming much how to upload the original collector because it's an original collector and it's boring and no one wants to see it but we're almost there danny is putting everything together here and we're not going to use it I'm trying to wait is this this is probably the fun part, This is probably the fun, no, I mean, there are a lot of pieces. I haven't shown you any of this yet. The p-tune kit comes with pretty much everything you need and is one of the very, very nice things. What I really like is that all the A-N lines are already pre-made, you don't need to do any of that.

We're running two wastegates at the bottom of this manifold. This is my first car in a two way skid setup. Honestly, I don't really know the real reason you would use two-way skates, other than to try to be a little more precise with the spring pressure. I guess I'm just being honest, I really don't know why. It would also work like you can get away with it unless you like a ton of power, which we're not doing. This can reach 700 wheels. Yes, absolutely, that's why I don't know, but still. jay-z can get there, I'm sure someone in the comments will be able to let us know, but we're going to run with two wave skates and I think the most important thing today, which is going to take a lot of time, is to just do all the vacuum lines, the blue solenoid running the lines for the wastegate, dude that thing is still peeing, yeah deep down I'm just hearing nothing, I'm shocked, oh man that's a lot.
I also forgot to mention to you guys that the hunco. Thank you very much for geology for sponsoring today's video. and now let's go back to this with the original collector out.
I went ahead and replaced all the oil and coolant line fittings with the supplied fittings, which are pretty awesome. You have the oil return and at the bottom you have a coolant line. It's not visible on the camera back here and then you have an oil feed line here, so the cool thing is that these are all these replacement caps with am fittings and you just reuse the washers that come off the original outlets to replace them all. Those use the same hardware and right now we're just trying to figure out what weight the skate springs are supposed to hold because neither of us have any idea, so I called my tech and he told me to give me about 20 minutes and he'd do it. will resolve.
We're waiting for you to tell us which springs to use. I went ahead and started swapping out the sensors that came out of the original charging tube again. It's all just reusing the original sensors, which is really easy. Let's put the turbo. I think two, three, two or three sections, the first section is the new manifold with the wastegates on and the wastegate unloaders on there as well, so Danny went ahead and already put the two wastegates on and put the am air inlet in the V bands. to fit them we are missing half of the wastegate because we are waiting for the springs, the second half will be the turbo that will be located above the manifold and only uses a V band as well and once So that we're able to fit that in, we're going to put the downspout in, we're going to connect all the an lines, which is super easy and then we just have to put in the charge pipes once everything is installed, then you get to the part where I personally hate and that's with installing the boost controller and running the aem meter i hate doing those things that are bound to be the hardest part of this install because i just don't really understand how to do it because i always have calvin and i mess around with the electronics and stuff and he's not here , but overall I know I haven't been filming much of this because we haven't gotten to the interesting part yet, so I'm really filming it, but it's very easy, pretty straight forward and there's tons of room on the side of p58 once that you take out the stock manifold so the kit came with these am lines for all the oil and coolant feeds and just to be extra safe I always like to order a fire protection sleeve for anything on the turbo. just from previous experiences so I'm teasing my fire sleeve right now and I actually got this from throttle and throttle right now they're having a black friday sale all over their website so if you're looking to get some related to auto parts definitely check them out.
I'll put the links below in the description. All the codes for sales and such are on this site, so check it out. Black Friday is going to be over soon so take advantage of it before Christmas so I just marked up the Fire Shield I'm going to cut it out and then it also comes with these heat shrinks so when you cut it out you can heat shrink it so it has a good grip on both lines, that's cool, I've never seen that before. This is what two gorillas look like trying to get an 18 pound spring into a relief valve, you ready, yeah you gotta do it quick, eat, you can do it, damn, that's got the strength you just need to lean on, you know you have to push, sit down. it's him threading it's in it it's not in anything better Dustin's hands make that thing look like a little tangerine did you put it in is it closed is it crosstalk is it what's ready to cross oh you know, it felt good, couldn't I hurt it?
Since I'm using my feet, how about you take it out first and let me do it again? Look at my palms. I'm happy as long as they do it. I'm just measuring a thermal sleeve over here, so we have some uh. coolant feed and coolant, we are left with one oil feed and one coolant feed to do it, as beautiful as this turbo manifold, we are having a lot of fun now fitting these two wastegates so they fit together, luckily I found a video. Online, a guy has the position of him. This is the same kit, but it is very difficult because this discharge tube has to be able to sit and jump very hard to explain the situation, but it has to jump the discharge gate, as you can see, we have to do it.
Tilt this up more and the V-belt you use for the wastegates which are really cool and I love the simplicity of it but there's barely any room so Danny and I keep micromanaging and they're so tight I'm really having to stress. This manifold is beautiful, but it fits perfectly to get everything working with the dual wastegates, so we're literally going back and forth in this fight, taking turns trying to time them right because well, it's just hard, but we're almost there. I think today is definitely a two-part video. I really want to try to put the manifold with the wastegates on um because then putting the turbo on is super easy because it's just a simple V band, but this is definitely the most accurate part and the hardest part and once we have this, I think that it's all downhill from there, super easy, so while Danny is just in full dan mode on this one, Danny is really the streamer these days, guys, he streams every night and you guys.
Know how I tell you all the time that Calvin is terrible at games and that I'm better than him. Very true, Danny, I hate to blow him away with him in front of me, but Danny is very, very good at video games, so if you want, call. of duty and you like to watch someone shoot beers every 30 minutes on his stream, sometimes he does a double and I'll put a clip here, he just throws himself and spills on it, follow dad on Twitch, I'm going to download it. underneath these wastegates are loose but the wastegates are timed where we think they should be so this is a little test fit right now it will be difficult to get this to fit yes the wastegates can be move, so it's weird because it doesn't It doesn't look like that, it should have the wastegates hitting the bottom of the subframe right now, you're really close here, yeah, like it has the wastegates making the wastegates stay stuck at the bottom, I almost wish we could throw a zipper. tie them both up and it will keep them exactly where they are, uh yeah, is he spinning or is he that loose?
He'll spin, you know, go around in a circle, but it won't be seen because those sun tubes are like going into the bottom of the subframe. I'm not sure it's nobody, right, yeah, it looks good, uh, this was angled downwards, oh, okay, that's how it should look, it's not hitting anything and it looks like there's room for it down here, okay damn this is going to be placed in a sick place yeah it actually looked check it out so again we have to time it yeah right what is this? It's not like that or something like that.
Yes, this will probably point downwards. Yes, yes, because the charger will work again. Is there any way we can get a V band on that hot side? Do you think thatvbam from the turbo to the exhaust manifold right now. Yeah, honestly, we could probably put the downpipe in the back. on the hot side right now we should try that oh we should try doing that off the car right now I was going to say we should probably put the downpipe on the back of the hot side so we put the turbo on we put the turbo with the downpipe when we're going to try with that, but the way the downpipes are placed right now, there are actually the discharge pipes, yeah, try the mono for the discharge valve, they seem to have more room than I thought, you know what I mean, There is a lot of room for maneuver, room for variation where they could be targeted.
I'm very happy, so yeah, yeah, filming an update clip because I haven't filmed in an hour or so, Danny and I have finished putting the manifold together. We have the hot side mounted where it needs to be, but we've been thinking about how we're supposed to route the vacuum lines for the wastegates because just adding two wastegates complicates everything, there's a reason for that, but it makes it really complicated or At least it is for us, so off we go. This diagram right now is only routing the boost solenoid vacuum lines from the turbo vacuum lines.
I think we are doing well. I'm pretty sure we're doing it right. The kit comes with a lot of accessories and stuff. we're kind of figuring out where each fitting should go it's a very slow process but I think we're getting there the manifold is bolted on actually we're going to stop for tonight we still have to put the down connect the charge pipe and then mount the actual turbo and then We have to connect all the vacuum lines to the solenoid, interrupt the purge valve and there is still a good amount of work to do, but this is actually a good bit done today. we're just tired and danny is falling asleep he's being forced to come back tomorrow danny wants to come back tomorrow can't wait he's going to go home he's going to broadcast a little yeah tomorrow will be great to charge calm down chop the grass ski a little of chicken for dinner and just some vacuums and we should be buttoned up, we're close and then we can probably start for the first time tomorrow and then hopefully get a base tune and get this dinosaur next week.
In fact, we can start copying it because we won't be able to do anything with it tomorrow once we've started it because the melody won't work right. The melody will be shit, taking home the only half of uracón, yes, sir. I really want to do a garage overhaul and redo this whole garage and do the floors and the shelving and all that, but something tells me we won't be here much longer, so I don't think it's worth it. when he's tired he climbs the stairs like a slug you got him buddy keep going keep going bad you're not going to go home i'm so exhausted my feet hurt from standing all day it's been nice it's been a long time since we worked on a car because We've been doing a lot of other things lately.
It felt good to be back in the garage, but I'm exhausted and I like to put all that brain power into figuring it out. all those things like wastegates and things that are not my forte definitely wore me out but tomorrow morning we will go back to the store first thing and finish everything, don't forget if you want to get the Christmas sweaters you have the links below so you can pre-order them so you can have them in December so you can wear them all month long and we have our winter collection available on December 1st with a billion new things, follow Instagram to stay updated. appointment with everything thank you all very much for seeing us, see you in the next peace and keep going
