Let's not waste any more time, let's get into it and let me show you

what

I have in mind for these square

glass

trivets

that you can get at Dollar Tree all year round. That's the great thing about this, it's a DIY you can do. All year round is not a seasonal item, so you can get it any time of the year. I hope so anyway, because some tell me that their

dollar

tree

s don't have the same item. I hope this is one of those items that all the Dollar Trees carry let's jump to it on the back of these glass trivets, whether it's the square one or the round one that the Dollar Tree carries, they carry both, so both would be perfect for this, you will see these silicone pieces that are to be preserved.

This trivet slides on the counter. I'm going to remove them. I initially tried using a plastic spatula, this didn't work at all because it was too thick and couldn't get under the silicone, so using my razor, which I feel comfortable doing once you get under the silicone , there it rises. I'm going to remove all four. I'll set them aside because I'll be replacing them later once you remove the silicone pieces from there. There's a little bit of that glue residue left, so I thought this was the perfect excuse to use my new Crafter Square glue and residue eraser.

Perfect, this is a new product that Crafter Square launched at Dollar Tree with all their new craft products. and I was very excited to see it at Dollar Tree. I took it out of its packaging and started rubbing it on that residual glue that was left and while I rub it it doesn't erase it, it doesn't really do much else. Instead of spreading the glue further, making it a darker color, it wasn't doing anything, so I thought maybe I was doing it wrong. I

look

ed at the packaging to see if there were any instructions on how to use it, maybe I'm using it wrong.
There are no instructions, so when you can't find instructions, what do you do? You go to YouTube, you search for it and, sure enough, there is someone who is using one. I don't know if it's Crafter Square brand or not. I see that I am using it. true, it seems to be working for the girl in the video, so I'm not sure why it's not working for me. To be fair I decided to give it another try after watching this video and it didn't do much else it did was even worse and since this wasn't working and I was so disappointed I decided to just take out my old gu gun, put them on a paper towel and appeared, not sure what I was doing wrong, if everyone sees that.
I'm doing something wrong, leave me a comment in the comments below and let me know because it seems pretty clear and pretty

easy

to me and it just didn't work for the next step. I will use these cotton fusible fabrics. Taylor sheets come 10 sheets in a package. I bought them at Joanne's using my 50% off coupon. I think I paid about five

dollar

s for them. They measure eight and a half inches by 11 inches and you can make them in three easy steps. Print design and iron on is that simple. I like to make the most of my sheet, so I print two four-by-six images on each sheet, black and white or color, it doesn't matter just your preference, taking this black and white. plaid fabric that I have been using all Christmas because I love it.
I cut a piece a little larger than the glass trivet. I turn on the iron. I'm going to turn the iron on to the highest temperature, but you're going to want to make sure and turn off the steam. I will simply place my image face up in the center of the fabric and run the iron over it for about 30 seconds and it should blend into the fabric. something new that I haven't been using this holiday season, some Mod Podge. I'm going to take this matte Mod Podge and give the back of this glass trivet a nice even coat of Mod Podge when you apply this.
You really want to make this as even as possible because it will make a difference when it dries. You want to keep all your lines the same and be as uniform as possible. I can't stress that enough right now. I'm going to take and place the trivet with the Mod Podge face down on the fabric and image. Now when you place this, you only get one shot, so you want to hover over the image until you center it where you want it. You'll press it down, turn it inside out, and rub the fabric to remove any air bubbles that may be there once you've gotten all those air bubbles out and the fabric is good. and adhered to the Trib ik, you're going to put a second layer of Mod Podge on the back and you're going to want to be very generous with this because you really want the fabric to be saturated because this is what's going to seal your image and your fabric and make it so it's kind of sturdy. to the water once you have the Mod Podge nice and applied.
I'm going to pop this in my oven for about 20 minutes to speed up the drawing process because it really does that when I'm working with Mod Podge, typically Mod Podge. It can take anywhere from an hour to three hours to dry and now that it's winter it could take even longer, so I like to set my oven to the lowest possible temperature, which is about 135 degrees, and you can go as high as 150 and be safe. and when I say safe I just mean you don't want to damage or discolor your DIY and if it goes up too much you run the risk of doing it after 20 minutes, this is nice and dry, the color is even, you can see that. there are no moisture marks.
I'm going to place my razor on a cutting mat and you, using the edge of the trivet as a guide, I'm going to trim off the excess fabric using this East 6000 that I found at Michaels. extremely sticky glue and I love the tip of this one, it's so easy to work with and doesn't come out too much. I'm going to use this to glue the silicone pieces back onto the back of the trivet, the non slip pieces I'm using glue instead of hot glue because if you put something hot on this trivet I'm worried that the hot glue will melt and lose these silicone pieces, that's why I'm using this and there you go, honestly, I know I say this a lot. but this is such a

quick

and easy piece the more you make the more you get for your money because you are buying those fabric sheets.
I keep it next to my stove, I put my dirty spoons on top and the best part is that you don't have to worry about it ruining the image because the image is adhered to the bottom and sealed with Mod Podge, so this is a great gift to give to your mom, dad and grandparents because they will love it and think about it while they are in the kitchen cooking. I love the result of this DIY and I must tell you that I already wrapped all the ones I made with other fabrics and when I was preparing to film this intro I noticed that my image is not centered with the fabric that there are more gingham checks on this side than On this side, it's a shame for me, but I'm human and I make mistakes and that one passed me by.
I know many of you will ask me how. it has held up over time, this is a DIY that I did, I would say about four months ago because I do my Christmas DIYs and some gift ideas pretty early before I upload them to you and I use it in my kitchen because I wanted to see how it would have held up and it has held up very well. This is not a piece that you can dip and soak in water, but if you put your spoons in when you are cooking, you can wipe and clean it very easily.
You can put it under water if the back gets a little wet, it doesn't hurt because we sealed it with Mod Podge, the fabric is not peeling away from the edges here of the trivet and I attribute that to probably using a generous amount of Mod Podge and I am very happy with this. There are so many different things you can do with this. You can get really creative and it's one of those DIYs that can be made to fit any decor style. simply changing the fabric. I hope you all enjoyed today's quick, easy, and most importantly inexpensive DIY using these glass trivets.
