Pixies can turn into mullets in the blink of an eye, so here's the deal: If you have a short pixie cut, you have two options right now with your growth, usually what a lot of people will do with a pixie cut when they go to their hairdresser and want. To give more length to the hair, they will continue to cut the back and keep the nape very, very, very tight and short while these layers start to grow out and gain some length. It is a long process. Layering around the face takes a while. to grow I know in my case these guys grow a lot slower than these guys so that may take a while and what will result is a lot of hair tucked behind your ears and flattened out until you get some length .
Here now in my case as my hair is growing the option I am using is to go for more shag, it will immediately create a longer hair look because the moment you have some length it starts to appear in the back and fluff it up, suddenly it looks like you went from having barely any hair to now having a lot more hair, so it's a quick way to give your hair a longer, fuller look, but it means you're

styling

your hair differently now. The pixies are much flatter, much closer to the face, much more up, this will now have much more volume if you are someone with longer hair and bangs, be very careful when cutting your bangs, it is very easy to mess them up.
If you've cut your bangs before and feel like you have a good skill set, keep doing it, so some bangs are easier than others, those basic types of straight bangs are much easier than the textured type of bangs. bangs If you feel like your bangs are getting longer, what I would recommend is find that layer of bangs and then you can take your scissors and all you're going to do is basically remove maybe a quarter of an inch from what you see here just to keep that healthy hair. I also have a couple of videos for you as a resource on how to style side bangs and curtain bangs, so now you have an option to maybe even change up your look. a lot of little clips and things you can use little barrettes so you can take your bangs out and then clip them away from your face if you don't want to deal with bangs in your face anymore or some of these you actually know nice big barrettes, my hair is wet, so which is a little difficult to achieve the full look but you know what I'm saying you have options to keep the hair out of your face so next is to talk about the cut and the cut will really focus on the areas where our hair is it comes back drier and more damaged and I bet you would agree that that would be here, along the face, the bangs, the longer layers and if I have some layers up here and that's just because if you heat style that's which makes the ends very dry and the moment you cut them off and I'm telling you, even if it's just a small amount, your hair will instantly look much healthier. and a lot fuller, so what I'm going to do is push in a little bit and I'm going to go through and show you with my scissors how I go through my front layers and trim them every time. a little bit to help bridge the gap between where I am now and hopefully where I'll be in the salon in about four to six weeks, maybe fingers crossed so here's my fluff that I'm growing into and when it comes to trim, I will do it.
I start by finding the part where my hair falls since I choose to wear it now and once I have that part, I'll take a look at these layers around my face and these are the places where it dries out a little bit. and up here and on these little layers, especially in the areas that have had highlight processing and all that is super easy to be able to crop them out. You never go like that. What you want to do section by section, just take a comb that can part your hair, so I'm going to start on this side of my part and I'm going to find the first little front section here and I'm going to lift it up and right here is where you can see the dryness so I'm just and I literally mean this is just a quarter of an inch I'm going in and buzzing that's it I mean you won't even notice any difference in length again you just go in and and I'll see I mean some of these are super super dry and uneven and I just start at the front and come back here, I see some of those that are a little longer and they look thin, they look a little tattered. and I just work my way over and over again, a small amount, a small amount, all you're doing here is just buying time for your hairdresser and I just lift the front to the sides, just pull it out to the side and then in microscopic quantities.
I'm just cleaning the same thing on this side again. My driest hairs are right around the front, it's where my hair is thinnest and it's usually where you do most of the color processing. If you have any color or highlights, it's usually in focus. around the face, that's why those hairs get so dry and worn out and I'm really just focusing on this top section. I'm not going down. I'm letting the length come in here on the sides and here on the back, same thing. with the back again angled and you're all you're looking for, just those little dry pieces, okay, and now that we've gone through that and taken care of that, next is the inspiration, what's your style going to be?
Inspo as you deal with your ever-changing look, as my hair grows it gives me other opportunities to style it and create different styles and as I go from pixie to shag, I decided to connect via Instagram or Pinterest. for some shag inspired ideas and of course the first person, the queen of shag, lisa rinna, and she has worn her hair up pretty much her entire career and it ranges in length from a shorter shag to a longer shag. long, so I use it as my inspiration. In terms of how to style it, that will also determine the type of product I want to use on my hair.
Now these are all from Helium Hair Care. I am a big fan of this company. They use natural ingredients. The products contain sunscreen, they are not aggressive. chemicals and made in the good old USA, so the first one is called layer one, dual purpose pre and post

styling

, enhances thermal buffer volume, you can use it for curls to crease, so it's just to give it a little more poof. You can take it in your hand and pass it. You can spray it directly on your hair from roots to ends. I'm not a big product addict. I don't like too many things in my hair, especially when it's short.
It feels like it gets dirty really quickly, so I'll moderate the amount that's okay so it stays in the hair. The next thing I'm also going to add is another helium product and this one is called quick fix leave-in treatment, strengthen. hair strengthens, hydrates, repairs and protects, so this is wonderful for our ends, but a little goes a long way, wow! It sprays everywhere, even that is too much, let me tell you something about this, like I said, I'm not a big product guy. addicted, I only like it a little bit, so now I'm not close to my roots, I'm just lifting and fixing my ends, especially in the front, I can already see my curls starting to grow too.
It's funny, what happens when hair grows well, the next step is to blow dry it, so like I said, I'm going for long hair and I'm going for a lot more volume than I used to, so I'm using a brush . by from and it's kind of a square round brush and it's really good for getting some height and some volume and I also have a smaller round brush for the back just so I can pull it out a little bit, you'll notice a lot of the dryer is just pushing it in and move it in different directions, the other thing too, instead of sliding the back down, now I'm kicking that up, so I'm running the dryer underneath to lift it up a little bit, okay? so the hair is probably about half to three quarters dry and now I'm going to use the round brush to start getting things into place.
What I do with long hair and longer bangs is and you'll see this if you go to my side swept bangs tutorial I take my front hair and I always start at the front because it's the most unruly. I never saved it for last and I pick up my front strands and I go from the bottom and I flip it back and that gives a little bit Next, I'm going to focus on my part line and now I want to get some height up here. I don't wear a flat hairstyle anymore. I'm going to lift it up, so that lift is going to be right here at the part and at the root and moving forward, now everything is going back instead of straight and underneath, here's a trick instead of flipping the hair completely out and leaving it so, that will form a big wing towards the Side, you can flip it over, but press it really close to your face and then pull it down and then just hold it and it will give it a slight curvature instead of just a massive wave, so let's talk about the back of hair.
It's going to be blown up into two different sections, this top here is going to roll back, this bottom here we're going to be able to flip up, so there's going to be a point here where I'm going to stop rolling down and I'm going to start flipping up and now the little brush to lift the back ends and then just take it and shake it well and so on... I mean, isn't it amazing how it's a different way to blow out and style your hair? It can make you look like you grew three inches overnight.
It's a little wild to finish this. The product I'm going to use for styling is a product made with helium and it's called Fiber Flex Multi-Function Styling Spray and Ideal Finishing Spray for Texturizing. to me it's like a combination of hairspray and texturizing spray, so I'm going to take this kind of tip in my hair upside down and then I'm just going to spray little drops everywhere, I'm going to run my fingers through it, I'm going to bring it back and now I'm just put it in its place and I'll use it. helium air sprays your hairspray as a final setting spray and in this case I don't spray it everywhere and leave it.
I'm just going to take my hands and move it around and then place the hair exactly where I want it to go a little bit. of a lift in the back, your fingers are your best friends with a look like this, okay, let me check the perimeter, make sure I did a decent job in the back, wait, why yes, I did okay, there you go, take a look, so there's the back. as you can see, this top part goes back, now it's getting really PC and it kind of got pushed out, there's that side and now this side and the hair looks healthier, those little split ends that I had here around my face already They're not here.
I have some healthy products that moisturize and have sunscreen to continue protectingmy hair and I feel like I've bought myself another month or six weeks until I can see my hairdresser, but I think I'm going to continue this trend of fucking it up. and let it grow and see where it goes, you know who knows, it's time for a change and sometimes things that happen in life can stimulate those changes, gosh, I hope this was helpful to you and at least is providing. a couple of really simple steps to make you feel better about what you do and don't do and don't do anything drastic.
