Junk Journal Using Up Book Pages Ep 59 Easy Journal Pockets Tutorial! The Paper Outpost !:)
hey everybody this is Pam at the

paper

outpost

and today we are making a new

journal

page layout and today we are playing with some game cards these are Trivial Pursuit cards you can get these at almost any thrift store for about two bucks for a giant box so that will last you a very long time you can also use playing cards or just take some cardboard or cardstock and just cut it into rectangles and very

easy

here we go but a great way to use up some stuff and we're gonna be playing with
junk journal using up book pages ep 59 easy journal pockets tutorial the paper outpost
some fabric and I happen to have these 4 by 4 quilter squares but you can also use you know laundered bedding or clothing if you want to cut it up and I wouldn't worry too much about ironing it because we are going to wet this and spray it with some tea dye spray and it's gonna get all wrinkly and crinkly so it won't matter anyway it doesn't have to be perfectly ironed but you definitely want it at least bigger than your game card ok so what can we use these little guys for this
is what they look like they've got the game card on one side and their fabric dress on the other and some examples of how you can use these on a page layout could be I just want to show you a different example let's do some obvious ones here I mean you could just put them here and here and they could be to individual

pockets

one pocket here one pocket here and you've pretty much filled up an entire page or you could build a little Tower Oh

pockets

out of these wouldn't that be
cute and you could put something in each one of those that would be fun you can also use them for an upper tuck you could put something here or a side tuck you could put something here and you could use a corner tuck gluing it here and here and that way you could put something bigger in here that would fill the whole page base possibly some ephemera or something like that many many uses so let's make up some of these so you have some at the ready they're ready to grab and go anytime you
want to use them they're super

easy

to like say that a lot don't I I wonder if I can actually make anything complicated anymore I wonder if I still can I still can't I think I can but well well who wants to do that not me okay so mm-hmm first step is we're going to grab our squares and these are four by fours they just happen to be the right size for these particular cards but you want to match it up to the card size that you have and where's my little thingy here it is my
handy dandy little concentrated tea die spritzer and this is real tea I just took some black tea and tea bags and just made a very concentrated brew of it in a coffee mug and then I just put a couple of drops of alcohol in here and it has just lasted forever and honestly it smells so good I think it's red rose actually red rose tea so what you do this is this is highly technical ready ready for this okay clear the decks I did this over my garbage can earlier and maybe that would be the best
thing but I spritz them and not super heavy but it takes away that stark whiteness if you have super whiteness in your fabric maybe you want it to look a little bit more aged and here comes this is why it doesn't matter if you iron it was ironed before or not because we're doing that to it that's right and this sort of knocks down the white and now you have this aged look to it and you can leave some of the white or you can just continue and get rid of all of it whatever you want
your design yeah it's kind of fun pushing the fabric around okay now these are wet and we're gonna break all the rules today we're gonna be gluing wet stuff and you can just put these aside and wait for them to dry and that's fine but I don't want to wait so I'm just gonna go ahead and do it and I did those when they were wet and it worked so there you go all right can move that out of the way and what we are going to do next is we're gonna get and what I call an
underlayment and this is a great place to use up your scraps and I always have a ton of scraps and they're right here at the ready so let me grab some okay so now for this remember that the underlayment page has to be something that you're willing to never see again because we're going to cover it with the fabric and so I am just going to use this a piece of torn

book

page it can be anything it can be a magazine page it's not going to be seen so as long as it's a little bit
opaque that would be the best thing and let me just tear these were staggering ruler I need my big one we're tearing ruler all right so you need to be at least that wide all right see you okay all right just checking checking on y'all all right I think I'll just tear this somewhere in middle so we've got two pieces we got a piece that's bigger than each of our cards see that okay so we're good to go now what we want to do is we want to grab our Scotch create permanent
glue stick big fat chopper link below if you're interested and yeah slap it down just somewhere in the middle okay and then you do the same thing here and I am just yeah I'm just gluing the side for some reason I know it doesn't matter what side because this back thing isn't going to show anyway so it's pretty

easy

just make sure you get the edges and then flip it over okay now where those yeah here's one and here's the other one okay I'll just move you guys all
the way so I don't get confused and now will you go away all right I'm gonna turn them over and the little trick to make your world a lot easier is you do this what I call the full D the quickie fold e and this is gonna tell you the dimensions of your card underneath because you probably can't see it through the

paper

because it's opaque this just helps you know where to put the glue because you got to glue the fabric on top of the Lehman's

paper

okay so and this time because
these are wet I'm going to use fabrics glue this is a silicon water repellent fabric glue so I'm just going to cover the areas and if you can see I've got the edges you can see where the edges are and you just go around you put where it doesn't matter if you get a little over the edges either because you're gonna cut that all off let me just want to make sure you get the edges all right there are we going in can always blow it down a little more if it comes apart all right
and here we go you know where the thing he is so we're gonna try and get it so it goes to the edges of where the card underneath is and that would be good it's really fun too it's amazing to think that we're working with a wet piece of cloth on top of this and it's going to glue and everything's gonna be dandy okay are we good we might be a little shy on this side let me just pull it this way a little bit and if we're not we can just cut off the edge so it doesn't
junk journal using up book pages ep 59 easy journal pockets tutorial the paper outpost
matter because nobody knows really what's under there right shh don't tell anybody okay all right we have that I'm gonna do the same thing here I can basically see my edges if you have a hard time seeing your edges you know what you can income if it's a little bit hard so maybe I'll do this just do this for camera purposes but you'll be able to see the dimensions of your card underneath more easily so that you know exactly where to glue all right I'm doing a swirly
technique apparently tonight almost 1:00 in the mood for the swirlies okay it's probably way too much glue well I was way too much glue okay you don't need that much glue because this fabrics is strong stuff but now I can see where my edges are clearly so I know that when I'm laying this down I'm going to cover my card underneath and then just work it out from the center to the sides yeah that's good just like that and then we are going to I should have probably put a a white
page or something under here that might look better but we're this is where we are now so we're just carrying on and we turn it over and we look at the card side up and then we I'm

using

pinking shears these are very handy here right now because they give a pretty border but I'm cutting outside of the card oh my pinking shears are glued together okay there we go and cutting outside of the card the card gives this little pocket or tuck a little more stability so it can hold some
serious stuff that you're going to tuck in there in your

junk

journal

so that's why we're

using

the card okay there we go so that's what we have okay and now we're just going to do this one same thing the material is still wet but doesn't matter we're gonna go ahead and cut just a little bit off not actually cutting the card and it is okay if you cut the card but this amazing technique when you're

using

the four by four squares very amazing isn't it we are
going to have little leftover pieces of fabric that we can use to trim the top so it's an almost almost scrap free project and I'm sure if you kept going you could probably figure out a way just completely you know make it scrap free sometimes have to go back and just you might have missed a corner like I did see that okay there we go damn alright hmm so actually I have that there I could do something like that that looks kind of cute but we'll see maybe I'll put that oh maybe
put that over here because this has got the little white edge that looks kind of cute maybe I'll do an upside-down Z pocket this time yeah yeah I could do that totally okay so let me do that I'm gonna just it's there and I'm gonna use it sometimes your scraps are your best friend you just got to look at them with new eyes that's right come on over here little guy you just hop on there and do your thing there very good okay so now we have an at all pocket or a tack or what
have you and then this guy let's see I'm gonna I'm gonna look at my scraps to see what I have see okay so now on this piece I have the little leftover piece that's everything right oh and I have that piece too so maybe if I take this one because he's got some pretty flowers on so I'm just gonna remove him from his backing and I can throw that out cuz I'm learning how to throw some things out yeah Amy and now I'm just gonna put that down here so we're just
gonna glue it on with the old fabric fix and once you get about halfway down your bottle or two-thirds the way down your bottle you're gonna find it loses out the top and if you forget to put the lid on your glue is actually already ready to go it's like it's trying to help you but it's actually better if you close the lid because it doesn't dry out as fast even though it takes a long time for this fabric fix magic stuff to dry out it can happen and it just makes everything
thicker and not as fun to work with so try and remember to put the lid on I'm horrible for that I failed lid replacement class apparently I just can't okay I'm trying to actively do it it's a new year I can learn new tricks that's right okay so if you want if you like the little I call this the chimney look where it's hanging over the edges and straight you can do that or you can just go back in with your Pinker's and just continue the pinking you can line it up and
it's pretty

easy

just to get the next pink in the same little little divot okay so you're okay you're actually good so there we go so we have a couple of those that was that was pretty

easy

right um let me do a little inking just for fun I've got this burgundy color here this might just bring out the edges a little bit more know how we like our contrast and all not necessary but completely optional yeah kind of like that I think I think that looks really pretty actually I'm
gonna do it here too look at me go Dada Dada Dada Dada Dada yeah that's actually going really nice love the contrast love the contrast so pretty and I'm just

using

the ink that is actually on the dauber because the material is still wet and it's just picking it up so let's bring over these pups and let's see what we can go to town with here maybe we'll use a different table or maybe we'll use a blue how about that oh that's kind of cool look at that doesn't do
so much on the blue but maybe you're here around the pink looks like I forgot a little hang on yeah yeah just get that in there okay more glue all right good and dad it that's that dad at that all right look at that very cute huh oh yeah this is just bringing them to life it'll keep going with the blue what the hey uh maybe could use pink on this one but I think it'll show up on the top part I don't know if I like that one as much but you know sometimes you don't know
until you do it but actually it's not looking to that I do kind of like it actually now that I look at it yeah it's get really good in there very pretty huh um you know that was sort of a surprise there I wasn't expecting me the blue to look so cool uh what color do we want to do though maybe more pink we'll try pink on this one how about we do pink on the bottom and blue on top yeah let's try that see what that comes out like who are you you don't belong here back over
junk journal using up book pages ep 59 easy journal pockets tutorial the paper outpost
in your corner alright here we go and I think the oxides probably work even better in this technique the wet fabric technique mm-hmm yeah that's for the impatient crafter we are doing the wet fabric technique tonight okay there we go when you want to just get her done I need my blue it was my blue my blue blue not blue not blue not blowing up blowing up boom I don't have that many of them over here there it is okay Luke okay there we go all right what do you blue do to do there we go
very nice very nice look at look at that oh yeah just the pop factor it's like I've got my toes all wiggling yep mmm-hmm okay doesn't take much okay all right so let's put these guys out so you can see them all and kind of get a feel for what we did today this is a quickie listen I'm coming really made it's only not even 15 minutes 14 minutes um so we could just like keep making these things like they're very

easy

and very

easy

to backstock so you have a whole bunch
of them and how much fun is that you can stick all and liquid pearls and nuovo drops or you could put little let's put some fun things on them what do we got we got okay I'm looking here let me see oh I got this little cheesecloth what can I do with this that would look cute on there somehow I think that's uh you know what that red part must have been from some other craft moment I had let's tie a little bow okay no no I want to fat cuz I want it to lay flat okay you know what
I'm do I'm going to make a pseudo bow fake bow yeah just gonna fold that like that I could just twist it I have a bow that looks more like a moustache don't you think yeah let's not let's not do that let's let's oh I know I know let's uh oh that was a cool in there too let's put it here and then let's take I still have some of these fabric scraps I could use them up I could wrap that around the middle okay now we're rolling we have ideas okay get off
me okay there you go all right I don't want to be too fat so I just want okay let's use this super Daddy glue of them all let's not twist it because that makes it fatter let's just put a little glue here we're waiting for our fabrics to come down the mountain there it is okay putting it on the front and the back getting it all over my fingers and everywhere I don't want it and then I'm just gonna put that there and I want to fold it around the back do you look like a
boat you're kind of looking bow like you're trying I hear ya alright let's just cut this off where's my little scissors here they are okay angle cut there oh okay look that's red that's good thread off okay threads gun and we should have a bow if all went according to plan there okay that's kind of bow like the bow could go here that would be cute right it's a little chunky but you know it's it's doable definitely doable okay let's uh let's put
that down let's use up our stuff alright alright I got a lot of oohs they're coming out of the old sever fix a better cap that volcano all right here we go there we go down you go and you're never coming up because you have been fabrics that's right okay so we have that and what else could we do on here I'm kind of having fun with this I have this on the table what's that it's part of a leaf oh that's kind of cool isn't it yeah I could kind of put that there
wait I had a whole leaf over here where'd it go oh you know what I could do hold on hold on drop the we've just dried some flowers the other day and why don't we use some of them we'll see we got here in the old pile dried flowers oh pretty hydrangea the blue hydrangea that might be nice he's really blue isn't he yeah he's very blue all right I'm so blue out there you look really nice on there okay now how should we adhere you but we could use the Fabri fix and we
know you're not going anywhere with that so let's just do that I mean I don't want to touch glue you because you're so delicate but you know let me just get your edges because the edges are so delicate but we want those to be down okay do we get the edge there yeah just a barely hue and then we'll put a blob here yeah little mega blob there it's very it's not super thick though you don't need super thick to hold these and let's just put her down hold our
breath that everybody stays in place there how about that a real flower on there very cool huh so yeah there's a million in one way so you can use your little flowers for decoration what else do we have here we have some white hydrangeas what's what's this tiny ones oh yeah see this we go.you want to be careful not to fuse them together when you're when you're pressing them in the press it's better if they're apart then you don't have that little issue okay
that's a nice little white one oh he's cute all right we'll use you adorable help up there or there maybe down there because then you won't get manhandled as much yeah a woman handled her somebody's going to handle you okay now pick this up with a wet finger let's plop it down there that's how we did that one and she's down not going anywhere all right very good okay so what else we have in here that was abuse oh I have a green leaf do I want to put a green leaf
down maybe that's a little overwhelm overwhelm there now too much sometimes the tinier leaves work better for little decorations we have some pretty pink and yellow rose petals we could use and we also have these I know maybe these giant daisies are too big let me pull one out I've made a small one though all right let's see let's see you do you want a big daisy I could look very Dolly Parton right yeah all right let's try that alright we're going deep today all right
I'm gonna put a little no geez I'll put a little on the edges here well be to hold you do ring-around-the-rosy sort of thing I think I just glued myself into it oh well yeah but some down here nice little fan of it so I make sure I catch all my edges I can always roll this stuff off a lot after because it's it's kind of forgiving that way flip it over can you see me yeah okay okay now maybe I'm gonna hold it this way and put it there we go did I get it oh yeah gotta move with
this nope tearing it okay come on flower go down okay hand tool oh look how nice and flat that's going well look how beautiful that is that's very Dolly Parton right isn't it isn't that so cute so country bumpkin I love it oh just dropped all the flowers okay come back here alright Mariano time oh are okay 20 minutes alright so another way you can use your flowers if you were wondering and then there's these guys do you want anything we could put something different we've
already done the flowers now I need to wipe my hands okay Babur fix all over them see baby wipes come in very handy here to get the rolling the fabrics off your fingers that seems to be the best way to remove it slowly roll it off your fingers and you know flick it off into oblivion and then it's gone hmm I have another little piece do I want to put a little piece of material here I could do that that would be cute a little extra piece do I need it do I want it I could do it I could totally
do that okay but we already did that so we don't want we want to do something different all right let's go into the the glue style here let me find something okay I have some options here I tore a little piece of a leaf picture and some apples and I've got a Helen Keller stamp so I am going to ink up my little leaf picture and let's see how this goes I think I want Brown gotta find my brown number anybody see it yep there it is thanks thanks okay I'll just give it some
emphasis emphasis on the edging here okay so we do you want to go there or do you want to go there I think maybe you want to go there you seem to have extreme pop and we like that and since you're still damp I'm gonna use the Fabri fix glue if I didn't show that to you there it is and we're gonna glue it just a little bit doesn't take a lot make sure you get your edges or just a little swift holdout in the middle just a little swivel all right there we go there that's
cute how very country doing a country theme tonight didn't know that okay so now Helen Keller we could put her on the side in the middle over here we could put her a little top-heavy but I think she's gonna like to be on the side over there for some reason Helen is saying put me on the side so I'm just gonna use a little glue too because this material is still wet and this will just glue the

paper

down fine it's not super wet it's just barely damp so it's not gonna bother
Helen too much you can you can totally wait until these are dry I'm just jumping the gun here there we go how is that okay so we have six count them six examples let me just zoom in a little so you can see them better of these little fabric-covered playing game cards and they're very quick and

easy
