Mar 10, 2024
Hi, I'm K Moula and I'm here with my husband Joe Moula, head coach of the Boston Celtics and I'm Joe Missoula, assistant coach of the Missoula family, that's good, we've been married for n years and we've been training. for 12 years you've been training for 12 years you've been training me for 12 years love our first relationship with coaching

nations

together was the marriage retreat in Rome, Georgia, yes Game Changer, we drove and stopped in Gatlinburg which is my favorite, It's probably still one of my favorite trips we took at the beginning, we didn't know what to expect, I think we didn't know what to expect from the other couples or what the atmosphere was going to be.

I liked it and it ended up being a very honest, open and fun connection, mhm, and in some ways it taught us that every season, every postseason, we needed to revisit each other, yeah, so that was worth it because unfortunately we haven't been able to go to the retreat . every summer, more so now, but now we know that he taught us to revisit each other after each season, even if you don't think you need to and there was a good opportunity because I think the statistic was that more than 50% of

coaches

are. divorced and yeah, you know, when we decided to, you know, come into this marriage and train, something that we wanted to do together is something that we wanted to thrive on, so I feel like the marriage retreat gave us a foundation you know to thrive on.

More Interesting Facts About,

So I think the coaching

nations

do a great job. You know your resources and your people. You know, having a servant leadership mentality and really giving back to others, so at West Virginia, Roger was always there for us, you know, at Fairmont State and last year in Boston I thought Pete did a great job. Being there for me Being there for our assistant constantly shedding light and perspective, you know, on the different situations that we know as a married couple, during an NBA season, and it's not something that's been done before, for Pete and uh. He was a great resource for us.

Pete has literally prayed for us this season and it's been remarkable to have a close friend who witnessed this journey and then be able to be a good sounding board, so I think last year was one of the most unique years we've had in coaching and we've been through a decent amount in our 12 years, but this year it brought us closer in our marriage, you know, we had to trust each other, we had to really understand each other. In each other, we had to trust each other, we had to communicate fully and really for me this was the most vulnerable I had been in our marriage, probably last year, and what the nations and the

coaches

have done. is that they helped me not get caught up in the identity of I'm just a coach and that's why even during an NBA season, even during the NBA playoffs, I can trust p I can trust the nature of the coaches that I I can trust and in our faith to remind yourself that you are more than just a coach and even when you lose, you know, a seventh game or a playoff series or a tough game, you still have to be a father, you still have to be a Husband, you still have to be a person and you still, you know.

I have to keep an open mind to those kinds of things that I'm proud that we can do. Know? Nations of coaches have been there when we were division 2 assistants. When we didn't have some of the resources some of the opportunities to help others like we do now and it's a great pride, you know we can support the nature of the coaches and just I want to say thank you to everyone else who does it too because it gives space for coaches, families and really for marriages, so you know, we hope that with this platform there will be more well-rounded coaches, better marriages and at the same time you can still Try to win a championship or be the best coach you can.
I love it when coaches remember where it comes from, whether you start in a film room or you start as a volunteer assistant, that's just making money for camp, which is very common and people don't realize that, and one thing we said was The first year we thought one thing we would do is always give something back to the coaching nations because they were really helping the coaches and we were the recipients of that for many years, and now to be able to give that. This is something that really means a lot to us, oh.
