iPhone 12 vs 12 Pro DROP Test! 4x Stronger Ceramic Shield!

Jun 09, 2021
What's up guys, all Apple Pro here for another year, another set of new iPhones and I've been waiting for these for a long time, I'm so excited that the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are now Apple's longest lasting iPhones with four times more resistance to falls? The iPhone 11 thanks to a new technology called

ceramic

shield

, these are

ceramic

nanocrystals grown on glass manufactured by Corning or in collaboration with Corning,

stronger

than the la

test

Gorilla Glass Victus. I want to put that to the

test

now the

iphone

12 has an aluminum edge so the

iphone

12 pro is surgical grade stainless steel with flat sides now a completely new design so that should help with the durability of the new glass as well let's go ahead and dig deeper, see what we have and put the claims to the test, and here it is.

That thinner packaging is about half that of the 11 pro series, it says in the new blue color. Oh wow, it actually looks very different from what you see online and I'm really nervous about the first flat-body iPhone since the iPhone 5s or the SE series. Wow, now we have some kind of new screen protector here, much thinner than it looks in the pictures, 7.4 millimeters and flat sides, omg blue not a big fan of this color, the sides look great, let's turn that on and we have the millimeter wave antenna. band right there, it's right after leaking about these bad boys for so long holding it wow, great job, apple inside no power brick this time just a greener apple sticker there and a USB-C, not twisted, as seen reported in Pacific blue, oh wow ok this is a bit reminiscent of the midnight green of the 11 pro series.

Wow, it feels solid, so this one weighs 15 grams more than the iPhone 12 and that could influence the durability, which is why I want to try both. these and there's the new overall lidar sensor camera design pretty much unchanged a much smaller microphone input oh my gosh this is going to hurt so much if it falls off and let's take a look at the gold one so the gold version it actually has a magnetic finish material or coating so This is the more scratch resistant gold version, surprisingly the back is not as gold as before but the bands are beautiful.

I want to use a slow motion one and get into the

drop

test, so the bezels are almost half a millimeter thinner and you can definitely say, oh my god, this changes the experience completely, it's so flat that the glass doesn't rise at all , believe. that will make a big difference in the

drop

test, marveling at the appearance of the flat body. I didn't know I wanted it so much until I held it, so as always, we'll go through three sets, waist height, head height, and then we'll go even further. at 10 feet and we'll start with the aluminum iphone 12 in three two one and here we go with the 12 pro three two one, not a very violent impact, both are still good here, Apple says the flat edges help, although wow, it's dented.
A big dent on the 12 series here just because of a failure at waist level on the scratched 12 pro but no deformation in the metal as it is much

stronger

. I didn't think that from waist height he would bend so much, it's crazy on his backside. Now the back only has double eyes on the glass so it's not as durable as the front, you still want to protect it, I definitely have a feeling that the back will definitely break, first three, two, one, okay , the mute switch was turned off, so it definitely registered some kind of impact. three two one okay, no cracks yet so it's held up well so far, nothing to report on that now, let's test that ceramic

shield

four times more durable than the iPhone 11, the toughest glass on a smartphone , here we go in three two one.
Looks good to me three two one flat good, all good on the 12 pro series, all good on the iPhone 12. I love how perfect it is, it's barely raised okay let's move it up to head height since they've both survived here, so iPhone. 12 head height three two one that is on its side and iphone 12 pro head height three two one a little bit tilted down, but hey, we have quite a few scratches here, you can see the natural color of the stainless steel as it is scratched Oh okay, so on the 12 series also now I see even more warping here in the aluminum, so wow, that's going to look ugly, that's a huge chunk of aluminum sticking out, otherwise the glass isn't cracked and, uh, on the dual ion rear glass. one two actually take a look at that uh oh wow it still doesn't break on the iPhone 12 Pro series into three two one another so two things happen it also went into vibrate mode and the SIM card tray just popped out on its own, but it didn't break.
Look incredible at these stresses that these phones can withstand and not break. Let's put those ceramic protective glasses to the test in three two one. Nice hit, it hasn't broken yet. OMG, on the 12 Pro series. 15 grams heavier. Three two. One. Perfectly flat. Stay still. It's not broken, that's mental, so I think the 11 pro and 11 pro max survived up to this point, now we have to go even further. The overall condition appears stable, aside from the scratched and dented bodies. Oh and omg I didn't see that so that's a line of dead pixels so the screens on these are thinner than on the 11 pro series.
I think that's partly why they were able to make the bezels thinner and that's because they incorporated the touch layer with the display layer. This may be due to that, the glass itself. It doesn't break, but the part of the screen underneath is suffering. Good time to get the ladder out and we had to go up to 10 feet because it just wasn't enough. I'm impressed with the ceramic shield more than the marketing, it's clearly working battered, bruised but not broken and falling like the closest I can get 10 feet in three two one oh ok I was face up two one and wow , there was no interruption, I stopped recording, the camera is not working, so that was the last thing this camera saw before it stopped, the glass did not break the glass.
It's still durable, but there are still other components inside the phone that can stop working. iPhone 12 Pro series with dead pixels. Intact glass. Three two. One in the face. Also these are not as aerodynamic as the 11 Pro series. They do, all good, nothing broken 10 feet. I believe these claims, this is not marketing, the glass is better even though we have broken pixels and the broken camera glass is still intact on both and straight on the back with the 12 series here in three two. one that has to be a break the mute switch went off come on and I'm going to go left here in three two one honestly these sound different when they drop compared to the series 11 and 11 pro okay so that that one broke. and this one broke so flat on the back from about 10 feet this is where the claims end on the 12 and 12 pro series and let's see what kind of break it is so yeah this sticks out its not terrible but i think Yeah.
It would still make you bleed, I mean, that took a lot of abuse. The SIM card tray also came out here. Now the phone is a little deformed, yes, yes, it is definitely a little bent, it goes like this and the series 12, yes, it is also bent. a small banana that is hard to see but is deformed like the fabric of space-time and the final ceramic test shield that is still not broken after multiple falls. The dual ion glass on the back is broken which broke the camel's back in three two one so that was a side fall I don't think it broke I have to redo that one on the series 12 pro in three two a smackdown if only gravity didn't do these things to our phone okay, there's the ceramic shield finally broken this one not like it doesn't actually stick out a little here at the bottom, it still works perfectly, the camera still working and long before we had some dead pixels on the screen, still I am very proud of the durability, are you surprised that I redo this? one yes it is bending quite a bit it could be prone to bending with extreme falls like this last face down drop three two one I don't think one broke just because of how high it jumped you can see how much force is coming back and it still works fine Okay here, so yes, Apple's ceramic shield is very durable.
It took a 10 foot drop face down for it to finally break on the series 12 Pro, not the series 12. The back is not as durable. He's using glass from last year. The frames are prone to bending. with extreme and repeated drops, so you'll still want to protect against that and while the screen may not break, other things can happen, like these broken pixels and the camera not working, so you still want to protect your phone with a suitable investment. 2 will be the most durable iPhone cases for the most durable iPhones and I think you guys will love how comfortable they are.
