She said it looks like her defense won't give us any of our three, which means there isn't as much help in the lane we have to drive in. She comes into action to the east. west so we can get north, south, here's stalky, thank you very much Ali stalky drives him and puts him in Edwards just committed his first foul, we have to be careful, yes, Elliot Edwards smartly released stalky and Beers leaves him out of bounds for Iowa and a very good drive by Staly Connecticut had multiple turnovers while we have another look here. Stalky gives him the ball in the high post.
He looked at Le Edward no foul, no foul, no foul, but when Yukon fumbled, at least it was a dead ball. for them has not allowed Iowa to come out in transition here is Kate Martin advancing after they sent two to Clark Marshall open at short on a three-long rebound Ashlin shaded a lead of 139 in Connecticut in this first quarter Beckers put it in the stomach Arnold searches to find an angle, the mule couldn't drive, he can't fit it and here comes Marshall Marshall turns to Martin. Martin will lead him in and Edwards will deny him and then the shadow can save him.
Here's Beckers. Marshall gets two or Clark gets back on the mule. Beckers off the Edwards screen lost the handle, the mule will shoot, can't hit and the rebound tips out of bounds toward Iowa. What have we seen in Iowa's last few possessions after hearing Holly Rose report the drive toward the basket? We've seen that since Hannah stalky, we saw Kate Martin take the cup too now Ice Brady will replace Aaliyah Edwards Connecticut will only go deep Kaden Samuels will also get some minutes From the bench they only dress eight players due to all their injuries Ice Brady a player whose confidence can be reinforced if he starts early and does good things early here is Clark leaving it to stalky stalky looking to take the braid stalky insists for the end P the foul an aggressive Hannah stoki is an impressive Hannah stoki in which she is really good This thing about receiving the ball in the free throw line, receiving it, he doesn't usually show much emotion, but he did it there knowing it was necessary and now the offensive rebound here is Clark Clark will shoot back with iron, without hesitation, another one will keep him alive. opportunity here for Iowa, but just for a moment, Arnold comes up with a steal, here's KK.
Arnold Clark tips it back, bounces and lands with Connecticut. Remember Clark played with a staff. He now he is 0 for three from Deep Beckers. Can't hit the three ice Brady Clark had to be careful there was passive on the rebound here's the shadow in the corner yes he gets the roll Paige Becker orchestrated that one the ball was up he pointed towards the corner make the pass to Ashlin shadow the left corner it's her Spots huge Second Chance points there for Connecticut Stalky bounces, makes it one last time to Iowa and the Hawkeyes turn it over for the fifth time this quarter Kylie fest to check in for Sydney miss for Iowa na mule rubbing around her yard area right I don't know if they hit her but she erased it Clark spoke the other day about that value as a shooter when you see the first one come in, you can see her practicing or hitting a moment ago 0 of three of three to start while Brady fails a lot in that attempt here it is Clark Connecticut back Clark looking for some space around the mule gets Fear to go for his three and doesn't want to go and then Fear gets close to the mule and picks up the foul Iowa is now one of eight of three in this first quarter PA Beckers is not assisted on this play, but look at her aiming KK sends the ball to the left corner in two ways you can communicate and one of them is using your hands.
I know this very well sitting next to the transmission. here's Arnold throwing it, the mule will fire and hit again and Clark with his hands down and the mule rings a three. Gino Orma thought that one of the keys to the game would be two or three triples from the mule. She already has two. Clark is going through a difficult time. get free and mula will get a foul here here once again a hand up that's not a competition that you can't play with your eyes looking at a player you have raise your hand okay aniko mule is a 39.7% three point shooter this season you can't just give him three wide open wings no Connecticut four of seven of three Iowa one of eight Marshall C about that, it won't take Clark to work as hard to try to open the crust, let him, dear boach, he'll shoot that. one is good, vitally important for the others to be able to make open threes because you saw how much attention Caitlyn Clark was getting on defense.
Bob inside wasted the opportunity to ashin Shay ice Brady too long uhh Clark the rebound throws it to the ground oh Grady then throws it Iowa very careless in this first quarter six turnovers that started with Arnold and Connecticut returns it immediately hey, the show by buron terasi presented by 18 is back for his third year currently airing on ESPN 2 the championship game will be on ESPN three East on Sunday for bur and terasi have a couple of elite guards here on the court. A couple of elite guards in the bur and terasi show that they know a thing or two about the quarterfinals.
Yes, they only make a slight difference in the game on the shot clock. Here Clark looks. The mule defending everywhere the mule has committed a foul, so Clark, here is Clark. Clark is being shadowed. He tried to force the back door. Wasn't there another mule that turned around? He throws it over Beckers at the buzzer and that will be enough for the first Iowa to turn it over. eight times in the quarter Gino orma's team leads by five after one Holly chats with Gino next Connecticut a 1914 lead over Iowa is we're getting ready to start the second quarter moments ago Holly Ro met with Gino orama's coach Ori , have you been able to congestion Caitlyn Clark mom mule is right on top of her, how does that slow her down and impact her?
Well, you know, we're trying to take her to places where she might not feel comfortable and give her as much help as we can, um, but you. I know that at the same time it is a long game and we are going to have to add some points on the board. You know we have to capitalize more on all these stops because we won't be able to maintain it forever. I have three different players making threes, none of them named Paige. How does that help your offense? She kills our offense because she has to get involved and make a couple of them.
You just yelled at someone at the bank who she was and why I told Paige.she you know we need more, we need better movement on her part, it's like she cuts and then she doesn't understand it and stops cutting, so we have to involve her more thanks Co, well what a tremendous interview with Gina Orama, here's a glance. To boost the run Wendy's gives you, it's not often that we only show defense, but how about the elite defense so far in this NA Mule game? She's following Caitlyn Clark everywhere, whether it's 94 feet from the basket or in the front court.
We are trying to keep Caitlyn out of the middle of the court where her vision can open up, she looks for her teammates, now that's important, that was Naik Mule's first foul, she needs to be on the court for Yukon and because Because Connecticut is so thin, there is always foul trouble. It weighs heavily on them, you see Clark with the fewest points in an NCAA tournament quarter in her career and Iowa lost it seven times in that first one. I guess if you're Iowa you'd say well, the good news is that Clark had the worst time of it. fourth maybe ever in a tournament and you're down five yes four passes from Clark and he's taken away another Iowa turnover just a soft Telegraph pass from Caitlyn Clark look here after Gino's interview with Holly how many screens Paige Beckers escapes of this possession there's one here with his mule eyes up looking for Beckers Beckers rebounds and Edwards can finish the sets a screen goes off the screen sets two screens receives the ball throws you're defending Paige Beckers you're working hard Connecticut for a touchdown here Clark is there with mu everywhere clark now Becker is in the change towards Marshall tends to shoot a miss finds Clark in the curl Clark to the corner Martin a queen's look misses and Edwards the rebound Iowa has not been able to play with the rhythm that normally they do it offensively Connecticut has controlled the action so far tonight here's Beckers drawing two shadow three without Edwards the offensive glass can't finish the setback, then the rebound went to Co Iowa, had three players there and none of them could scratch the scoreboard and the shot clock was incorrectly reset a couple of possessions ago immediately after the quarter break.
Paige Beckers running. off screen sets the screen, then it will be a wobble, sets, then returns from another screen before making the pass. Gabby Marshall has to work defensively against all those screen actions that EG hit by shooting 56% in this tournament. Becker's passes spin and shoot out of bounds with the shot clock fading and you, Orma, try to tell Paige that there was plenty of time for you to get yourself established. How about Niam Mule again defending 94 feet from Clark? You know how exhausting that is. Clark wants a cut needs help, Marshall comes and you can see Caitlin Clark is very frustrated right now, unable to get a break against the mule.
Edwards almost gets a steal and now stalky gives it away. Iowa completely disjointed in this first half. Edwards the Deep catches. couldn't finish it Clark finds stalky wonder

y and stalky puts him in eight points for stalky, who is four four away from the court, great pass forward from Caitlyn Clark and the speed in their passes allows them to deliver the money to help Clark, who he has more than any player in NCAA tournament history here's Arnold turning the corner and hitting it as he weaves around Martin how about KK Arnold? The freshman with eight points in this first half has not missed the third step of clar is out of bounds again and mules out of bounds so Iowa takes a break here as Clark is now 0 of four of three look at the speed on this pass Ryan reminds me of watching NBA games those guys shoot the ball through short windows and Caitlyn Clark can do the same you look at her transition assists simply sensational this season here she is lurking with the size in the shadow se throws him to Martin Martin in trouble is going to let him go out of bounds he stays with Iowa and what's also interesting about the way Yukon is defending Clark is what teams typically try to take away his left hand, Yukon he's just trying to take away the middle of the court and again Edwards gets a steal.
Clark turns it over again and Edwards sets it up. Lisa Bler needs a time out. This is as puzzling as we've seen. Caitlyn Clark at one point and the Yukon Ste defense all over the point and the big girl, Aaliyah Edwards, gets a running steal in transition, it's all going the way of Yukon, who is also a four-time Most Outstanding Player here at the last four, the only player to have done so. that Niam mule continues to face guard Clark at 94 feet here he is stalky dropping him grabbing him Iowa only two of 11 of three Clark is for four Sydney a folter couldn't finish around Arnold's defense Connecticut has been choking the winner of this game will play in South Carolina on Sunday 3 Eastern on ABC, the player Cox remains undefeated after getting rid of NC State and that will be an offensive foul and if it is a mule, it is her second and it was a real foul and that is why the first one that received was so important. because that one didn't seem like much, this one certainly does and now Naik Mule with the second foul on him, how will that affect what he does defensively?
He's sliding his hips a little bit to set that screen, that's a foul and now, are you Iowa? Do you try to put a third in Yle who has been essential to what they have done defensively? Here's Stalky Stalky looking to go to Edwards who has a Stalky, had no angle, good defense there from AI Edwards and another possession where Clark didn't. Don't touch me, Ella Clark is a ball dominant guard and just hasn't had the ball in her hands much due to Yukon's D AK. Arnold comes up short on that one has the ball in his hands here semi-transition Clark bounces Marshall just shoots That's Iowa's 11th turnover Beckers connects Beck Marshall fell on one end and no one picked up Beckers on the other.
You have to communicate and understand that your pickup point will be number one. Paige Becker's paig is wide open kayln Clark. slow to get there a run of 70 in Connecticut a 12 point lead in Connecticut keep in mind that Iowa is a team that averages 90 points per game, they have scored 16 so far in this first half, they are the highest scoring offense since 2014 Clark drives this one and places it smartly Caitlyn Clark should continue to attack the mule because she has those fouls here's Arnold, freshman, a shadow freshman won't take rebounds Clark Clark throws it forward and misses, what a grab He can't shoot although he wanted the whistle he didn't hear it now Marshall arrives at Beckers Beckers gives up Arnold can't hit the three he barks with his six rebound he hasn't hit a three yet Clark looks to work the mule in the paint Martin sees a seam and can't I left it on the floor and just didn't finish it Martin got off to a slow start here one of the five on the floor Caitlyn Clark breathing deeply, we don't usually see that from her, what she joked with us the other day said: I always find my energy again when we're on offense they've been on defense a lot here in this first half Ryan here's Edwards and that's going to be an offensive foul against KK Arnold as Connecticut turns the timeout on the court Connecticut getting everyone involved here all five Yukon Huskies starters have scored have defended have rebounded have helped they are small in number but they are Mighty Connecticut has been besieged by injuries for the second straight season a nonsense Caroline du Janna Al Ali Ayanna Patterson Aubrey Griffin finished the season Paige Beckers talked about how she really They had to cry in the locker room after Griffin fell to Kraton when we sent stuff to Holly Row, well Ryan, that was the turning point in the season. in many ways because that last injury was so devastating that they lamented, it was around January 3rd and they went and had a meeting with three of the best players with their coach the next day and they said how are we going to get through this and he said there's to do it. decide right now how you want to handle this you can regret it you can get angry or you can turn the page and move on of course we're sad because they're gone of course we don't have them but if you focus on that I can't get where we're going, All the players told us that that meeting was the moment they decided to move on instead of focusing on what they didn't have, focus on what they do, let's take a look at our follow-up of the game brought to you by Invesco QQQ thanks Holly, How's Connecticut's defense tonight?
They forced 10 steals and got 13 points off 11 Iowa turnovers. Here's Clark again, she goes to drive, she stops, she puts it too hard, but I like the decision to continue driving Naik. Mule with those two fouls Nik Mule is so good defensively that he had a tough task against Syracuse's D Asia Fair in the second round and he played similar defense to what we're seeing here tonight. Beer Boach fouls. Beckers, well, Mula, twice as big. Eastern defensive player of the year, all-time assists leader in Connecticut, yes, even in that number 10 he had more assists than the other number 10, our friend and fellow backup, here's Nika, towards Beckers in the midrange, he can't get Martin to fall. rebound Clark looks up Clark thinks about shooting, can't hit Caitlyn Clark now 0 of five from three fouls here she goes against Aaliyah Edwards and that will be her second 13 in Dove da Staley's halftime report will join the set and will how are you?
Caitlyn Clark Yukon's defense has done an exceptional job in this first half, so two fouls on the mule, two on Edwards as a hesitant, will draw the foul and who will be called. I think it will be KK Arnold, so that will be his second. and Yukon's Elite eight-game game against Southern Cal had several players in foul trouble here the drive comes in, I mean, did anyone touch it? No, that's a complete mistake, he misses the free kick, let's see, was there a hand on his back at this angle? Maybe Arnold's left arm didn't look like much, a miss hits the second free throw.
Gabby Marshall will come and be scared. Boach. You can see Marshall also still favoring that left leg a little after she took a screen from Niik Mule, but yeah. you're Iowa, you have to feel pretty good about tagging several Yukon players with multiple fouls and if they win that may be one of the main reasons Beckers can't connect with Edwards, here's Clark Clark coming in quickly. the paint feeds the corner a hesitant Martin steps back at a hesitant pace three is good three huge for Iowa had been two of 11 from Deep Arnold on the drive flips it KK Arnold Freshman Fearless with 10 in the first half a hesitant bounces in Martin Clark seeks to free himself, can't he?
Iowa turns it over again just as he feels like they're getting something small on a 12th delivery and Clark shakes his head toward the shadow corner, not a three. Here comes Clark being watched all the time. path by mule who has two fouls Clark on the drive Banks on mule had to be careful there are six points in this first half for Clark who has scored at least 20 in 47 consecutive games Hawkeye faithful here asking for a stop Edwards unable to finish little momentum for Iowa Clark misses, misses, puts it in a 10-2 Hawkeyes response, great final 50 seconds in this first half, Marshall almost gets a steal, Beckers can't finish it, here's Clark Clark thought push and says let's slow it down there's no two for one here a game 12 seconds difference and shot clock Clark lining it up misses again and it's Springs Connecticut barks 0 for six from three point range Beckers turning into the lane Beckers not going to miss it and this is how the first half will end Connecticut's defense the story that holds Caitlyn Clark to six points on three of 11 shooting and 0 of six from three KK Arnold the freshman delivering she is with Holly KK the defense has handed Iowa over Hawking Caitlyn Clark everywhere she goes, how has that changed this first half for you?
Definitely just communication on the defensive end, making sure it doesn't get to our spots as easily. We know that once she gets into the paint, she is a good scout at finding her teammates. for the shot, so if we keep doing a good job and bouncing the ball further away from the box, then we'll be fine. You're a freshman here in your first final four. You're leading your team in scoring at the half. As? Are you that comfortable right now? Just the confidence that my teammates give me and you know it's a big stage, so I have to show up and give everything I have.
Thank you KK, thank you. Connecticut had a 12-point lead. Iowa was able to cut. We made it to six at the half, but Connecticut's defense was simply fantastic in those first two frames, time to go to the folded halftime report. Duncan and team welcome back the NCAA Women's Championship presented by Capital One, preparing to begin this second half in Cleveland, Ohio. Connecticut has a third advantage3226 over Iowa as we welcome courtside once again Ryan Ruko alongside Hall of Famer Rebecca Lobo what a job by Connecticut defensively in that first half against Caitlyn Clark and so many people involved on both ends of the court during the Huskies as we take a look at our most reliable team presented by xinity, yes, very good balance on offense.
Yukon Huskies final, they made 5 triples in that first half, four different players came into action sharing the basketball. attended three exactly the kind of balance Gina Oro was looking for and then how about Na Mule's defensive game just finding Caitlyn Clark early keeping her out of midcourt, frustrating her lifting her 94 feet doing her best to keep the basket ball? out of Clark's hands and again that was the foul, the first foul on Mule and Caitlyn Clark has had a frustrating first 20 minutes. Her success came when she gained dribble penetration to that right side. I hope she continues to attack Mule and see if she can get that third here early in the second half in 15 career tournament games, the first time Caitlyn Clark didn't hit a three in the first half as we send things to Holly R Catching up with Iowa coach Lisa Bler, she said we're just not playing Iowa basketball 12 turnovers and five assists that's not us, she said Yukon is doing a really good job in defensive transition, they're not going up the boards, they're just running and coming back, so Iowa can't get that offensive rhythm that they're used to, but as far as Caitlyn Clark's frustration during that warmup coming out of halftime, she hit everything and was smiling, joking , laughing, told us that I have to smile, so trick my brain into relaxing, I should look a little more. relaxed here in the second half, yes, she has also talked about having the weight of the world on her shoulders, but what got her through it is the joy she feels playing B basketball in March, where the games are more fun.
Marshall, you could use that. They have it to start Gabby Marshall's third ring in three Connecticut starts in the third quarter like they started the first and that was with a broken back door Arnold puts in the mule delivery how about KK Arnold? Freshman Martin catches deep Waits and misses the layup, but Kate Martin strangely misses some good looks inside, now he's one of seven from the floor in this game. Good hands from Marshall and a steal from Iowa, what are we seeing here in the third quarter? Players not named Caitlyn Clark bringing the ball up the court on the first possession Marshall here Martin, a hesitant rebound, he has size in the shadow and he buries it, you can see.
Iowa uses Clark as a blocker there off the ball in that possession without touching him within the shadow of possession goes through the back door Beckers reverses it at home Beckers only three of nine in that first half Connecticut knowing that iow would come out with a little more defensive intensity so twice now he's been able to make the cut back now Clark gets back to the basketball Clark looks to get away from traffic the double screen opens up and scores the first three of the night for Caitlyn Clark and the first time we've seen that offensive action heel back behind two screens father Brent a small sigh of relief here is Edwards no Clark wants him quickly up the floor Clark separates the back iron no Marshall the board in a lurking cross court Martin attacking the shadow Martin turns and the ata beers responds from Deep Beers Clark seeks to get Clark receives a foul that he almost commits and the foul is on Paig Beckers, which will be her first.
The offense has come alive here in the third quarter. The double screen zooms in on her left side, where she feels so comfortable that she can finally make one. three and Paige Beckers comes down the other side. Gabby Marshall gets stuck behind Aaliyah Edwards' screenshot, making Happening Now Ryan ruko, well, they don't give free throws to Clark, that's interesting. It looks like he was fouled after the start of the attempt and then Hannah. stalky is hit by Ice Brady after an early hook on Aaliyah Edwards that will be the second foul on Brady, making two on Brady, two on Edwards, two on Arnold and two on Mule for Connecticut, the only Iowa player with two It's Kylie Feierbach, so it hits the First let's say the final four of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship starts Saturday 6 Eastern 3 Pacific on TBS for more information, check out

.com, which I'm interested in as well.
Ryan how fast gin orama took out Aaliyah Edwards here in the third quarter, he told us this morning if she doesn't play well we could get lost here, here's Beckers around Brady's screen Beckers holds up and a foul is called, what? Is it about Marshall or Clark? It's about Clark and that will be his second look as if it had been a retained ball. Caitlyn Clark doing a good job of not showing her frustration here, perhaps initially with her left arm on the arm, but it seemed like the whistle came after that, when she had her hand on the ball, Beckers didn't try it from distance Clark and leans out of bounds toward Iowa and advances forever in the women's college game if someone makes a deep three, it will be Clark's distance, that's right, her average was three this season over 26 feet, the line of three points is 22t 1 and 3/4 here it is Marshall falls short on a corner three and Brady secures the glass for Connecticut, but Iowa appreciates Clark's chance to go right and then finds his teammates outside over there.
The mule misses the beer below surrounded, squeezes it to provide shade, the shadow stops, no and Martin bounces it. Iowa Trail. by 12 in the second quarter tied a few moments ago here is Marshall Clark looking to get back to the basketball and Clark protected by Beckers shoots underneath Marshall misses the reverse in two-point position The winner of the Connecticut advantage will play against South Carolina on Sunday on ABC as Beckers scores We've seen Yukon post Paige Beckers several times and it pays off because Gabby Marshall is giving up a lot of inches on Paige Beckers. Beckers was the player of the year as a freshman and she dealt with injuries during her sophomore and junior seasons.
Here's Clark. surrounded finds stalky stalky missed the layup Here comes Connecticut with numbers in transition beers up and off the rebound Marshall was taken away then, but it's a foul, it's KK Arnold will commit his third third foul on KK Arnold less than five to enter Ford built Ford proud of Caitlyn Clark and Paige Beckers, these decorated stars are on display tonight as we take a look at our Star Stories presented by Honda. Beckers has already scored seven points in this third quarter. Clark finally scored three in this third quarter. Clark has scored at least 20 in 47 consecutive games and Iowa has had a slightly better offensive rhythm here, but Connecticut has been able to stabilize things.
After Iowa tied it, it's Yukon up four. Kon Clark with only four assists so far in this game, he could have close to 10 if his teammates were able to meet some of the dimes from him. Another good look though is that they can't finish a miss later and the possession arrow belongs to Iowa. Good effort by the player Lisa Bler says is Chicago. Tough, by the way, for those wondering KK Arnold's third foul, we got a look at halftime and it was clearly a foul, she clearly slapped him on the arm, so three fouls on Arnold, the hesitant one has than to do it with stalky, here's a hesitant looking to drive, find Martin stalky working, Brady Clark hasn't touched this possession yet. stalky trying to force it and a foul is called on Brady, which will be his third, so three on Ice Brady you have two on Aaliyah Edwards Ryan, this is where you say a player insists on getting to the basket and her arm goes down.
The arm comes and you could see Roy Gob doing the arm movement of him coming down through stalky. There haven't been many free throws in this game. Iowa, two of five from the line, now three of six and Connecticut just one of one and Stoki is 63%. The free throw shooter of the season makes the first and puts them both two points ahead of Connecticut 420 by the end of the third quarter of this semifinal. The winner faces undefeated South Carolina on Sunday the 3rd Eastern on ABC, they throw him out. Brady can finish the foul more. a huge bucket there for ice Brady ice Brady, a Yukon player who likes to look toward the basket, but says she's been working on her back to the basket game and showing some physicality coming in at the end, showing excitement and also the first foul on stalky. who was in a lot of foul trouble in that Elite 8 matchup with LSU that hasn't been a problem for her tonight Aaliyah Edwards back So Connecticut goes with the big two here as Brady completes the three-point play Great response from Ice Brady Ayah Edwards is a great defensive all-around, so she'll protect Kate Martin, here's Marshall Clark, can't shake the mule, stalking, trying to get it to Clark, his three is good, what's the foul and Clark makes a grimace after receiving contact from the shadow.
Clark is working very hard. to get your hands on the niik basketball mule denying denying all over the court this is a good defense and Caitlyn Clark doesn't have much space and then she lands at the foot of the shadow Clark completes the four point play one point game The crowd of Iowa alive they fall apart it's Edwards' turn to mule back to Edwards eight to shoot Edwards receives a foul from Martin and two shots come for Leah Edwards the leg It Be The Reckless closes and here Ashlin Shade gets right under Clark's foot, the You see there, the ankle turns, so Clark with seven points in the quarter after having had six in the first half Edwards misses the first free throw the foul on Kate Martin was her first Caitlyn Clark already passed the gum NECA and Brianna Stewart both in the building tonight for third-most career points NCAA tournament Edwards scores second here's Clark driving and finds Stokey hit able to finish without a whistle Iowa bench apoplectic that there was no foul but this game is tied here is Beckers rounded Marshall on a hesitation and is out of bounds against Connecticut and Gino orama is very upset with Paige Beckers and wants a timeout.
It looks like Paige Beckers might have a clean look at a three. Instead, here invaded by defensive possession. Iowa. Get more brought to you by Geico. The stars will come out tonight in Cleveland. Asia Wilson. WNBA champion, South Carolina champion, how about Brianna Stewart, four-time Yukon champion over Kelsey Plum, the 2017 wood star AC, award winner loving her popcorn tonight? MGK taking selfies with fans Darius Rucker, a huge South Carolina fan and a three-time Grammy Award winner Jason Sedis, who has really launched himself into the world of women's basketball over the last few years after Iowa here to Cleveland Connecticut, got 14 points from Paige Beckers Caitlyn Clark much better in this third quarter after a really quiet game. first half Iowa hasn't led from two at all, they have the ball here tied at 45 here's Marshall, a three iron back no, he had a good clean look there quickly coming out of the starter Iowa was down 12 at one point in the second two three Zone here for Iowa deflected Brady was able to grab it Arnold's three don't go Marshall was able to grab the rebound three three bodies on the ground it's a four on three for Iowa Stalky receives a foul from Arnold and that will be his fourth fourth foul on Arnold and for the The other end, the mule is shaken.
AR guy KK Arnold has been essential offensively and defensively tonight for Connecticut. Han Stoi commits this foul because he is running down the court with force and at the other end you can see the bodies fall to the ground and that is where the mule. gets hurt, maybe Edwards' weight falls on his left leg there and the mule is going to limp back to the locker room, well that's obviously significant since niik mule now says no, I don't want to go back, stalky gives Iowa its first advantage since It was two nothings and a mule, even first having a few minutes off the court could just change the game because of their Elite defense so far in this game and Connecticut would have taken Arnold out of the game with four fouls, but now they have to do it . leave her inside because the mule returns to the locker room, here's Arnold driving, he finds Edwards who drops him off at home and Ed Edwards punches Kate Martin in the eye and immediately falls into a pile, oh and Kate Martin will return to the Iowa locker room she is the glue of this Iowa team Lisa Bler has talked about how there is no doubt that she is destined to be a coach when her playing days are over and now the mule is returning to the Connecticut bench now that they are going to take a look at whether or not there is an unobserved act here against Edwards, you see his left elbow make contact, is it the eightMartin?
I think it might be the nose, okay, let's bring in Denny Mayer, our officiating expert official for 20 different NCAA tournaments. Denny, what is he doing? Do you think this will be the basketball play here? You will be the ball running down the line. The thoughts are correct. Alright. Denny, what do you think about backing off? I agree it was just a basketball play. There was nothing excessive on the part of the defensive player. Okay, Den agrees, we appreciate it, so we didn't make it better in any way, so right now they're trying to do some control by cleaning the floor.
It seemed to me that Kate Martin got hit right on the nose and you know when you do it. There's going to be a lot of blood and now here comes Kate Martin running out of the tunnel. We've seen too much tunnel running these past two games and Kate Martin comes out to a cheer from the Iowa fans here in Cleveland. For the fourth consecutive year, all NCAA Women's Championship games are broadcast on ESPN networks. For more information, visit

.com, your home for all 90 NCAA Championships. On Sunday the 3rd Eastern, the national championship game, South Carolina will face Connect or Iowa and Martin getting something. encouraging words da Staley was able to explore this game On the court, his Gamecock put together a splendid second half to pull away from NC State in tonight's opener, so Martin on the bench for the time being, how does Iowa handle that well despite What oika mu is on the court? he looks a little limp still Ryan playing with whatever he just faced somewhere in his legs Arnold now goes to the bench with that fourth foul here he is Clark look he's going to break free he has shadow on her Clark in the lane bounces hard able to finish six assist for Clark, who also has six rebounds to go along with his 13-point Iowa lead is two points up to 19 points tonight, the sophomore flourishing on the biggest stage, Edwards Center, the lane that left just hits it and that's the area of the court against Iowa.
Area that will be open, that's the sweep spot right around the free throw line Clark behind the screen Clark goes cross court here stalky Brady is working stalky can't finish she recovers it before thinking about shooting now she will take it to the lane then she puts it in Good Touch there from Sydney after before Brady's help she knew to attack the big Edwards close here is Edwards again Center that area Clark who has two fouls harassing Edwards shadow who is left alone cannot hit the three Clark the rebound Clark bounces beautifully after not being able to finish Iowa has never led by more than two at any time tonight Connecticut has led until by 12 around a game of 5 seconds difference on the shot clock as this third quarter nears an icy finish as Brady throws down and an easy pass to Edwards to tie the game's shot clock shut down Clark with 5 seconds left in the frame Clark on Beckers Clark with two seconds of shooting, Marshall can't score and that's how the third quarter ends Game high at 51 Holly Talks on the road with Lisa babble when we get back, Coach Lutter, you told me at halftime, this It doesn't look like Iowa basketball, what seemed more familiar in that third quarter and how you changed it, yeah, I thought we had some defense to offense, which got us.
It's like going in the fourth obviously Caitlyn hit one that gets us going a little bit but I feel like Hannah Stalky is playing a great game inside as well we've got them in a little foul trouble we need to keep chasing it yeah , I was just going to say they're in foul trouble, so how do you take advantage of that? What does that look like? We have to keep pushing, we have to keep driving, we have back-to-back drives because they You're pretty good at recovering in the first one. Does Caitlyn have to get going or can you win this without it?
She'd take both if she were a gambler, thanks coach. Oh, Iowa had 26 points in the first half, 25 here in the third and a lot because Caitlyn Clark was able to get going on the offensive end making shots working off the ball screen and then she continued to work and you can see how much space she covered in that third quarter on that possession just to get a look inside and also handing off the B basketball to her teammates, Fark, with six assists, but as we mentioned, she could have had a lot more if they could finish it off and Iowa didn't. lost in the third quarter after having 12 in it. first half here we go game tied in the fourth quarter a spot in the national championship game on the line as Edwards can't finish the layup scored Yukon's last seven points in that third stalky has to cross it now carries it into Martin's arms , they throw it in stalking, working to finish, you have an assertive Hanah tonight and Iowa staying in their zone, which was effective for them in the third, plus, Beckers floats it, shadow makes it difficult, passes to Edwards, how about Beckers three short rebounds to Clark Iowa still hasn't had a two possession lead tonight Clark steps back three, now they have a two possession lead Brady, yeah, great shot by Ice Brady ice Brady had some great ones moments in the Elite 8 game against USC, here's Clark turning the corner and Brady fouls him, which will be his fourth, but he's smart to attack Yukon's big lineup.
Reminder of KK Arnold on the bench with four fouls that he will come to review now, but here the step back to the left is a very good defense. verika mule and dad clark and the family cheering her on do you think she still has those snacks she was hiding in her pocket she might have been nervously eating them the first half you know what i bought you a better one she changed her hoodie must be one the superstitious man hly row wants know if he's still eating them Caitlyn C, both free throws are good, what's the story?
I can confirm that she still has the sandwich, but it changed her gratitude. Holly Clark HS both five-point free throws. Iowa leads, so Brady with four still on the court Arnold with four back on the court Edwards around and on a couple of huge mid-range jumpers these last two possessions from Brady and now Edwards The Bigs against that zone are going to be important to get the ball in the sweet spots Clark trying to work Arnold separates and finishes they make 48 games in a row with at least 20 points for Caitlyn Clark Brady again the soft ice hit Brady the first year the Yukon players in this national semifinal they've had ice in their veins Clark comes all the way to the rebound and if he's going to try to call a timeout, he'll do it so Iowa gets a timeout to retain possession with 727 left in the quarter and me leading Caitlyn Clark by three to 20 points in this game that we have seen.
She makes three attacking too, okay Scott, we're looking forward to Caitlyn Clark having a quiet first half and louder here in the second, which is why she got her 20 points, the longest streak of 48 consecutive games in the last 25 seasons. Remember Iowa's Big 10 Championship was down. 11 beat Nebraska again Caitlyn Clark had only 40 points. I had only four points in the first half of that game and then scored 30 in the second half. The serve goes to Martin. Three points ahead of Iowa. Here's Marshall Clark. Beckers now Clark looks to shake Beckers into the corner Marshall comes out with three rebounds Edwards can stay in bounds Here comes Connecticut Brady and Arnold both playing with four fouls and one hit away from Clark Here comes Clark in transition bounces hard able to finish what a dish from Caitlyn Clark and Stokey up to 23 points Brady she'll take it if you let her she can't hit the rebound Martin here's Clark behind the line lurking in a crowd he shoots Martin Martin hitting the drive fading away and taking the biggest lead of the night for Iowa it's seven mules they lost it a lot Beckers keeps it alive Beckers has played every minute in these last four games Edwards can't score the last two possessions it seemed like Iowa was in a box in one with the other player on the page Beckers here's Clark slowing things down a hesitant looking to turn the corner going towards Arnold has four a hesitant squeezes it out Marshall she got it they're going to take a look and see if it's a two or a three for now it's a three and the lead is 10 the last basket was scored a two on the court for Iowa it is under review well the important thing remains the same they are going to review it for now it is a two oh that is difficult I think she puts her toe behind that line, yes, it is confirmed with the three-point basket for Iowa, you call the ball on the line just yes, on the line, so a two points and it will be Connecticut Basketball Iowa with a nine-point lead 542 to go in this quarter To Gabby Marshall's father likes what he sees on that left wing jumper and Ryan like you Yukon is lucky they had to look at that because certainly that would have been a place where Gino would have taken some time to Stem the tide a little bit, but it wasn't necessary due to official review.
Excellent point because this building was ready to explode, so it's a 9-point Iowa lead, it's a 21-point turnaround and after this it was tied at the end. of three Iowa opened the quarter 15-6 here is the shadow finding the mule in Edwards catching deep working ogrady Edwards was able to finish and a Stokey taking a breather right now for Iowa Iowa and the mantle man but as soon as Edwards caught the ball surrounded by three good patience good strength to finish this is a tough Connecticut team they won't go away a fumble turns it around and then a fon o Grady as Aaliyah Edwards falls to the ground and that's the first turnover of the second half for Iowa after having 12 in the first half, yes, the players were just looking for the ball, but of course an undercut marked the foul, hey, remember the 28th annual WNBA draft on Monday, April 15 on ESPN Indiana Fever, first pick Caitlyn Clark Angel Reese camil cardoo aiyah Edwards all available countdown at 7 This then at 7:30 is the draft live on ESPN on the ESPN app here's the mule making his way to the corner they need him .
The shadow can't hit, but a whistle against Addison ogrady had a lot of trouble in these last few possessions with Aaliyah. Edwards, so he stays here with Connecticut. Iowa has done a very good job of picking up the defensive boards in this game. Yukon with just five on the offensive glass here. Grady with a little push trying to make sure Edwards doesn't get any of it, of course. Yukon runs back in the D transition and doesn't attack the offensive explosion? Arnold can't hit Connecticut. Now 1 of 10 from three in this second half after they shot pretty well in the first half 5 of 12 ice Brady on the bench Arnold still out there, with four fouls, Clark looks to free himself from the mule, there are 20 left to go in the last quarter of the semi-final.
Oh, the mule took it from Clark. Here are Becker's huge three on the way. It's good, it was the first time we saw it. Connecticut handles Caitlyn Clark in that way the bombardment with two that forces the turnover first points of the quarter for Beckers stalky digs inside initially refuses here is Martin directly in three short and a foul on stalky goes in the opposite direction third foul of the team on Iowa here only two come at her and nle does a good job getting her hands on the basketball and then Beckers on the other side comes in confidently on the three.
I'm telling you Ayah Edwards has played very well since they rushed her out in the third quarter and now Connecticut in a run, they've cut the deficit to four Beckers huddling in place of former shadow towards Edwards Edwards putting her in the cover shadow bounces Edwards lost out of bounds Iowa's last hit with her ball Iowa's defense has been really good, especially swarming with Aaliyah Edwards off the dribble or when she turns her back well, one of the things Kate Martin has told us about is that feels like their defense in this tournament has really improved even at times when their offensive pace hasn't been as fluid as theirs.
We are used to it, they have also done a good job changing their defenses, as Lisa Bler's teams always do. Clark draws two, there's Trap Marshall in trouble, she tells Martin 6 to shoot. Martin works with Beckers Martin to end Iowa's six-point lead 250 a we go to a date with undefeated South Carolina at the line Arnold enters the lane and finishes beautifully and now Connecticut will take a timeout 238 for the end of the quarter and we're getting the finish everyone expected to a close game down the stretch, so there's a lot of talk about Caitlyn Clark and Paige Beckers, well, how important are the others?
Kate Martin with a tough finish on Paige Beckers and then freshman KK Arnold with the twist and finish screwed up, so Iowa basketball leads by four 238 to go in this quarter. Both teams ran into timeouts Iowa trying to return to the national championship game for the second straight year have never won the National Championship Yukon is seeking its 13th appearance in theNational Championship Game they are 11 to one all-time their only loss was to South Carolina two years ago, when we sent things to Holly in 2019, Iowa was one win away from reaching the final four with that great team in Megan Gerson of that defeat.
Lisa Blun flew straight back to West from Mo Iowa and went for a home visit at Caitlyn Clark's House and she said look, we're this close to one game away from the final four, all we need is you and now years back here they're playing for a spot in the national championship that visit home changed the course of this program and put them on a stage they hadn't been on before thanks to Caitlyn Clark. Can you close this at least in Ludo? He doesn't get enough credit for allowing Caitlyn to be Caitlyn for allowing that young woman to take the three logos to play so freely. as he has throughout his career, under 23 is Clark trying to break free, instead it is Marshall 15 to shoot Iowa for four Martin off the handoff Martin putting it on deck turning inside and finishing Kate Martin wants this Martin Marshall Clark to know that they are all staring graduation in the face Beckers the midrange plate and Edwards the Beautiful Finish what a decision by Paige Beckers and Aaliyah Edwards having a great second half up 17 points four points Iowa leads Clark the catch Clark can't finish it rebound Edwards Clark wanted a whistle he didn't take advantage of the opportunity for Connecticut 125 to leave Connecticut losing by four you know orama directing traffic Beckers breaks free in the corner he misses it short he follows it and they take it away Basketball from Iowa with 10 five to go what a golden opportunity for Yukon when mule fouls Clark who will be number three on niik mule only the second team foul in Connecticut not sure why it looked like he was committing a almost intentional foul on the park there, I actually like that he gave his team a chance to regroup oh they are playing a dirty game with so much time very interesting.
I thought the mule only did that to give his team a break and a chance to snuggle and a hesitant put it in stalky stalky looking to hand it over to him. to Clark instead of waiting trying to hand it to Martin Martin then throws it here comes the mule with Beckers Arnold Nerves through the mule a three is good it's a one point game Connecticut pressure forces a turnover and now it's one point game and Connecticut can play defense if they want with a differential of 9. I mean, amazing, they push it the other way. A mule that has been calm offensively in the second half scores a huge first three points of the second half for a simply active mule.
Aaliyah Edwards hands and then losing active balance Ni mula hands coming the other way turning out wants to give Becker a touch of can no KK back to Na and it almost felt like Kate Martin was afraid of the backourt there a even though it had been tipped exactly Iowa now with one timeout left Connecticut has fouled three Iowa three 39 seconds left your Connecticut with only a 9 second difference on the shot clock you can still play straight, of course, 9 seconds it's enough time especially you can advance it on a timeout yeah here's Martin Martin trying to get it on Marshall or Clark it's Clark Clark being guarded by a mule Clark running a little time this comes down to this Iowa leading by a game 9 second difference in shot clock bark race time 10 in shot clock Clark waiting Clark on the Move finds stalked plates which Arnold takes, saves Edwards and Connecticut takes the Time Out 3 second timeout now they would have to take another timeout in order to advance the basketball so they could send two to Caitlyn Clark as time runs out.
In the high hands, great job by KK Arnold to get that correction. They cannot take consecutive timeouts, so they will have to do this from the backcourt. Paig Becker should have dribbled it. the front court to be able to enter from there because they made the pass after serving the basketball, they can no longer advance to the front court if they had called a timeout as soon as they retained possession, they would have been able to advance it right a small tribute to Doris Burke I see that it's okay here is Rebecca Connecticut there is one less timeout left 9.3 left Paige Beckers has to have the ball in her hands to make the decision shot or pass they put a little more time on the clock, so there were 10 left, 8 seconds.
Clark had it in her hands, abandoned it, and Iowa turns it around. Now Connecticut is down one trip to the title game on the line. Mule, the way, 5 seconds left.looking for bers and an offensive foul in offensive away on Edwards with 3.9 left were trying to set a screen so Paige Beckers could see here Aaliyah Edwards barely bends and the foul is called on Gabby Marshall who has made critical defensive plays in The end of games throughout the conference tournament and the NCAA tournament comes after a very difficult whistle for Yukon to swallow and it looked like Nik Mule could have turned the corner and continued P tra towards the basket and not having to search. a flare screen because of course Connecticut didn't need a three, now Iowa, after taking its last timeout, will have to come in just as cleanly.
They've had a little trouble with Connecticut's pressure on the last few possessions if you can deny and disallow. the ball goes in, try to get a steal, but you would also consider fouling before the ball goes in, to retain the full 3.9 right in the college game, as long as the player you foul is involved in the play that you can commit before. the ball goes in without additional penalty Kate Martin enters Iowa leading by 4.6 to go in the fourth Martin finds Clark Clark is fouled by Beckers 3.1 to shoot two free throws for Caitlyn Clark. It's been tough for both stars offensively tonight.
Remember. Connecticut has one timeout left, so they will be able to advance the basketball first. They have to make sure they get a rebound if Clark misses her second free throw and you can see her dad saying we need Clark, an 86% free throw shooter. it's three for three from the line on the night and drains the first box outs, the biggest vital free throw of Caitlyn's decorated career is not a good rebound to miss and what's going to be one hell of a ball and Iowa has the possession arrow Iowa has the possession arrow and controls such an overlooked part of the game boxing in the free throw you didn't overlook 1.1 to go Iowa out of timeouts Clark bounces off Beckers out of bounds with only 1 second left what a play so brilliant from Clark and there's barely any time left three has to go off the clock what was the clock on when he threw it from behind 1.1 but I think an extra jump might have been necessary within the limits let's see boom boom maybe seven will be on let's put it at 8, it's been a slog to the end here, an offensive foul called against Edwards prevented a possible Connecticut attempt to win the game, they're going to move it to 8 o. 3 Let's see, they're still arguing on the scoreboard now they're going to the point 8 Clark beats Iowa incoming by two points 8 to go and that'll do it Iowa survives Connecticut and returns to the national championship game 71 cin Clark and Iowa will meet undefeated South Carolina with a championship on the line Sunday 3 Eastern on ABC and the improbable run for Yukon that, according to Gino Orama, was its most surprising trip to the final four since its first in 1991 ends in heartbreak tonight and the team of Iowa all season long when times have changed. have gotten tough or when they've been down like in that Big 10 championship game, they've found a way to get a response and keep going and it's not just Caitlyn Clark, but her teammates here in the second half, They just had a great time. and once again to go undefeated South Carolina faces Iowa on Sunday 3 Eastern on ABC and what will be Caitlyn Clark's last collegiate game as we send things to Holly Ro, well Hannah sui I want to start with you, You were so strong inside tonight, how?
Did you take advantage of the opportunities you still had? Yeah my teammate did a great job of getting the ball in there for me and I just went to work and you know Kaylin she's a great passer so she always gets me the ball when I need it and she was tough against Alah Edwards . You guys had monster battles for positions and rebounds. How did they stand firm? Yes, I stayed strong throughout the game. She played a tremendous game. She is a great player, but two children. from Iowa Cedar Rapids West from Mo Caitlyn this was a tough finish, what did her team do to close out this victory?
Well, I thought we got her out of the fourth quarter really good. She came up with some big baskets. Hannah came up with some big baskets. great baskets Kate was tremendous and then CIA fails just does what she does and gets great rebounds when we need them the most and um just resilient our offense wasn't very good tonight we played great defense and sometimes that's what you need to win. I'm proud that our girls found a way to win. Nor mule was in your face all night. It was difficult for you. How did you avoid getting frustrated and finding your teammates like Hannah all night?
Yeah, you know, I think that's what you'll see at this point, you know they're really going to sell me. I thought my teammates stepped up and did a really good job. They made some big baskets when we needed them, so I couldn't be more proud. of them takes all five of us back to the national championship game again, what will it be like? What will it take to beat South Carolina? You will need one to five. um you know they're so skilled they played a great game today and um you know. at this point anyone can take it and you have to go and get ready you have a day to take care of yourself so we will be ready yeah what she said what she said okay see ya thank you well now it's time from a Capital One's gratifying performance on Hannah stalky was tremendous tonight, she was certainly able to score, she came in and drove to the basket, she asserted herself and was a prime target for Caitlyn Clark's passes.
Hannah sty became huge as a sophomore in one of the biggest games. of her career Lisa Bler talks about her good heart she said she needed him to have a heart of steel she went tonight for our producer ker Callahan our director Jimmy plat Holly Ro Rebecca Lobo and our entire team I'm Ryan Ruko join us on Sunday the third of This one on ABC for now has returned to SVP
