The comic chaos was caused by a cast of unforgettable characters meeting again. Mixwell M by Don Adams. It was the best of times and the worst of times, you'll never know the pressure of turning a successful comedy series. I think it affected a lot of feelings. He had the entire burden of setting the pace of the program and maintaining it. There, Don Adams and Get Smart set the pace for Five Seasons TV comedy, seven Emmy Awards, and Beyond Austin Powers owes some allegiance to Get Smart, these airplane movies and these Naked Gun movies really got smart 20 years later , it was the strangest thing.

What I've seen almost now is the story of a classic Cloak and Dagger comedy and the man who teamed up with Maxwell Smart within the TV Land show Get Smart, you know, China, Russia and France should ban all nuclear weapons, We should insist on it, what if Max won't do it? Then maybe we have to destroy them. It is the only way to maintain peace in the world. In the early 1960s, the United States was fighting a dark battle against the forces of communism while trying to finally avoid Moscow's reaction during World War III. we were in the middle of the Cold War there was always the omnipresent threat of a nuclear attack there was consciously or unconsciously an awareness that there was a Global Network of espionage by both the Russians and the Americans the 1960s were a time of phenomenon of espionage uh in movies and spy parodies 07 spells Bond, James Bond movies killed at the box office and Spy shows infiltrated television, including Uncle Man, I Spy and Mission: Impossible, as usual, this film will self-destruct in exactly 5 seconds and then it was obtained. smart, maybe six, 60s secret agent feel with some sort of borch belt, huh, the humor was a nice volatile combination, close the door, right?

Maxwell Smart is a kind of clumsy dreamer who honestly believes that all the silly crazy things he's doing are helping. to resolve the world's concerns and put an end to chaos. Turns out I was Maxwell Smart. He was a character. I became the character, but the character who became an icon of television comedy was not born during the Cold War. Don Adams had spent his The first 42 years gradually brought him to life. Donald James Yarmy was born in 1923, the second of three children of an Irish Catholic mother and a Hungarian Jewish father. I grew up in the cinema.
I never went to school. He was closer to my officer than I was. was for my parents, he always knew where to find me on the balcony on 42nd Street When young Don grew up in New York City, he and his friends had fun doing impressions of movie stars like Carri Grant, Humphrey Bogart and William Powell , two people planned the assassination of Archer Cole two what, but their paths then crossed on December 7, 194 1 Don's childhood was interrupted by the Japanese sneak attack on Pearl Harbor there were eight battleships in the harbor all were damaged by the bomb and torpedo attack Age 18 Don joined the Marine Corps and was sent to the Pacific.
This is Canal Guad. Don fought against the Japanese in the brutal battle for Guad Channel Island. No one who has gone through combat will remain young because they lose their innocence because people are outside, they are trying. kill each other after 6 months of bloody fighting the marines were victorious but Don was struck by malaria they thought he was going to die they put me on death watch Don spent two years in hospitals recovering from his illness when the war ended in 1945 Don He was discharged and began doing impressions and monologues in Miami nightclubs. I had a pretty bad time in the last war.
They almost recruited me. I hated every time I had to go on stage. I used to throw up because I had to go. There were drunk people out there, so thank God I was in the Marine Corps and Gu Canal, so I was able to deal with that in 1947. Don Yarmy married Dell Adams, she was a singer in a nightclub in Miami. in the corner of a nightclub where I played we went out together we got married and had four children Don and his family settled in New York and in '54 he auditioned for a talent show on Arthur Godfrey's television show why is it the end of the line, so when I went to the audition I changed my name to Adams on the spot, won the Godfrey show and became Don Adams, your honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury.
Don's act in those days had many impressions and he made an impression of William. Powell as the Thin Man, any of the seven people could have done it. The accused Mr. Irving Glick murdered her husband, yes, but that is not the important thing. That character, when you said the words, just came through and that was a comedy writer's dream. Don began. working with comedian Bill Dana in 54 Bill Dana told me you know that voice is funny I said I hate that voice Bill Dana said no no it's not funny use it now I ask you are those the legs of a homicidal media man from 1957 Don was a hit in the stage, let's give him a big welcome here is Don Adam.
I remember him as a comedian at Playboy and many other clubs. Yan, everyone can do it. Don off stage. Don Devil Mayare's lifestyle, which included gambling and a hectic workload. Their marriage of 13 years the men went out to work they were the breadwinners of the family the women stayed home with the children I did what I could 34 year old Don was not alone for long he met a 20 year old dancer named Dorothy Bracken at Summer Stock in upstate New York, we fell in love there and it was wonderful to work with him, you know, because he was fun to work with on stage and he was great.
Don and Dorothy married in 1960. He was doing the Ulvan show. was doing the show P Como and his stardom grew every year in 19 19 63. Don's friend Bill Dana got his own TV sitcom and cast Don in the series, don't worry, you're as good a detective as he gets. It's James Bond at any time. Mr. GLI James Bond, these storybook detectives are ridiculous and then I had a stroke of luck because I was in the right place at the right time when Get Smart came out in the spring of '64, the success of the James Bond spy movies had inspired a 32-year-old television producer named Daniel Melck.
I came up with the idea of doing a parody of the genre as the genre became more popular. And I had the idea "it can become intelligent." Melnick pitched his spy spoof to ABC. James Bond was very big. I thought it would be fun to have some kind of goofy spy. ABC contributed $7,500 to develop a script. Melnick hired Mel Brooks, who got his start in comedy writing for Sid Caesar and Brooks' team with former Steve Allen Show Buck Henry Danny. Milick said the two biggest hits in the movie business are James Bond and Inspector Cluzo. We fantasized about Bond and Cluzo having a child and who it would be, it would be Max, the man they wanted to play as a secret agent.
Maxwell Smart was the Emmy-winning comedic actor. Tom Poston, I thought was very funny, captured some of that silliness of the spy/anti-spy stories that were big on television at the time, but ABC didn't like the script. When I looked at the script versus the producers, I wasn't enthralled. With the idea, so we passed, I reached out and asked an old friend of mine, Leonard Stern, to come and be the producer. It was the end of October, November, the pilot season was over to save being smart. Stern met with NBC programming chief Grant Tinker, and Grant said I read it last night and I read it again this morning and I love it and I said we have to do it.
I found the money to do one more pilot and by the time we had Don Adams under contract in late '64, Don was available when the Bill Dana show was cancelled, no, they said U, we have a pilot you might be interested in. I said who. They wrote it, they said Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, I said, I'll do it. I'd like to say we always thought about Don, but we didn't, it was like Serendipity, you see, I have imagination, wit and intelligence, I wouldn't do it. I have done something like that. I saw him as a tall, handsome, charismatic man, irresistible to women.
That's what I usually interpret. I looked at the script and said, boy, this is really a wild script, but I didn't know if it was going to be a hit or not, Adams, 41, was a gambler, so he accepted the role and the biggest gamble of his life. . They said: do you want to get a big salary or do you want to take a part in the show? I said, what's his name? a big salary they said $112,500 a week I said what's it called a small salary they said $4,000 a week something in its nature said I have to bet here if it's a success and I get a piece of the show.
I'm going to have an annuity for the rest of my life, so it's the best business decision I've ever made in my life. 86 meets 99, who is Agent 99. I want to talk to all you tigers, and then the real-life spies will come sniffing around. The government intelligence agencies asked us where we were getting our ideas when we came back in, let's be smart inside TV Land you're watching 86 I have a new assignment for you, right? Boss, it's a kidnapping case. Oh well, who do you want? I Was Kidnapped In early 1965, comedian Don Adams, 41, landed the lead role in a secret agent spoof called Get Smart.
Agent 99 will meet you at the airport. Well how will I know? 99, boss for the role of Agent 99. The producers want a bomb with a brain I want to talk to all of you Tigers, Barbara Felon was just what they were looking for. I Like You, the 30-something New York model, the sensual Revlon commercial sparked the passions of men from coast to coast, it was so ironic. and Feldon wasn't just sexy, she had earned respect as an actress on the TV drama East Side West Side with George C Scott and Barbara was great, I mean, she knew exactly how to deal with George's power.
Now we had Dawn convinced that Barbara was perfect for him. She was obviously taller and Don was very aware of it, as was I. Barbara is 5'9 in socks and I'm 58 and a half. She was the only actress in Hollywood with calluses on her ankles because she would twist my foot on P, push my hip out, lower her head like that so she could be shorter than Dawn. Sometimes I wonder what it's all about because of all the destruction, killing, murdering, well, like 498, I'd say it's living, the third key character. The cast was Max's boss, the controlling boss, the producers didn't find his man until the day before filming when they called veteran actor Ed Platt, so why did you wait until the day before?
You made your number 87, oh oh, well then where was he? Before you know why, why did you wait until 87 recovered? They wouldn't believe you could do comedy. My question was: could I handle comedy? And he said, "I think so," and then he stormed into Old Man River. Now I'm tired. I'm tired of trying. I was convinced that if someone has the courage to sing uh uh uh five DB louder than you speak. I felt like I was right about the cast. It installed some of the brightest lights in television comedy. They reunited to film Getsmart. pilot in early 1965, the only episode filmed in black and white, so you're Mr Big, so you're nexwell smart face to face, but the process was not always full of laughter, there were too many cooks, it was Mel Brooks and Buck Henry and Leonard Stern and everyone and Hoy Morris from the S Caesar show were directing and everyone was arguing about what was funny and what wasn't, there was comical friction between Mel and Don, for example, there was anxiety in the air, you feel it. vibes no one knew if we were just wandering around in the dark or if we were onto something interesting I said Don, come talk to me after rehearsal I said are you aware that if this becomes a success, the character you're developing?
He will be stuck to you like glue for the rest of your life. He said. I don't mind. I told. No. You don't care. They are going to totally typify you as Get Smart, the forces of evil. once again they were frustrated in theirattempt to extinguish the torch of Liberty, sorry, wrong number. NBC picked up the series and at 8:30 on Saturday night, September 18, 1965, viewers tuned in to be smart, be smart, took on Saturday night stalwart ABC. Lawrence Welk and the O'Brien Trials on CBS and top both shows in the Neelen ratings. Sorry, Chief, very soon, General Crawford and a hundred of his powerful Troopers will crash this landing.
Would you believe Jayed G? Hoover and 10 of his men, how about Tarzen and a couple of his apes? Appealing on so many levels, iCal sophisticates and physical comedy proponents could sit side by side and enjoy the show for entirely different reasons the moment you set foot in Germany. be living in constant extreme danger D, what are you saying now 99 and loving it? You know how much I want you. A key reason audiences enjoyed the show was a relationship between Agents 86 and 99, so why don't you relax? I guess he loved her, but he treated her like you know, like a boy, you know his partner all of herEfforts to be feminine and charm him fell on barren ground, oh Max, before you go, I just want to remember the total silence , Max, how rarely do two people work so brilliantly at the game without trying to steal from each other.
I don't think about Get Smart without thinking about Dawn, he was wonderful to work with because of his tremendous energy and all you did was hang on strong and follow him, the viewers accepted him too and at the end of its first season, Get Smart was number 12 .TV show and would you believe the pilot script that ABC rejected was nominated for an Emmy award, of course that's it, it was a chemistry between Ed FL as the boss and Barbara as 99 and me as 86 and it worked thank you coming. from a coward the villain takes center stage R, don't shut up here.
Sig released came out of me wanting to release the anger inside me and then the star takes an episode of the only time Maxwell Smart wasn't the star of his own show when we go back inside be smart inside TV Land 3 2 1 Z By the time Getsmart took off for its second season in the fall of 1966 the show's popularity had reached New Heights 77 Houston Capcom how do you read when a bag of urine exploded aboard NASA's Gemini space capsule? the previous year, Ground Control offered a thoughtful apology to astronauts Frank Borman and Jim Lovel. The flight increase message regrets that.
Meanwhile, the boss understands that Smart's space-age devices had captured America's imagination. Oh, this is clever. Maxwell Smart AG in 86, it was wonderful. I mean. Still talking to my shoe I asked Mel Brooks where that was coming from a phone rang and they couldn't understand where it was coming from and Mel Brooks started walking around and picking things up saying hello hello hello and then he took off his shoe and said hello , maybe that was the invention of the shoe phone. Mel Brooks played a pivotal role in the creation of the show, but left early in the first season to focus on making his film The Producers.
His presence was always there and I. I could always call him and pick his brain on something, but basically once we were on the air, it was Leonard and back Leonard Stern had a huge role to play in the success of Get Smart and a lot of the appearance was Leonard's ideas. He invented opening and closing doors, which you know is a great invention. Mel Brook's co-creator Buck Henry came up with the cone of silence. I think I must have read somewhere that there was a device to silence the noise. I gave it a 99 for it has to do with the G formula, what I remember was that I thought it had a good idea and I wanted to see it. will be discussed under the cone of silence, well why don't we use it?
Boss because it doesn't work properly it still doesn't work it's never worked properly it fell on the wires and it wobbled and it wobbled and so on it was all over the place and it was supposed to fit on both of them, you know, and it did over time, the cone of silence gave way to other devices. Your boots are now equipped with nuclear-powered .45 caliber bullets, ready to go. The variety of devices of Agent 86. It caught the attention of those who were really fighting the Cold War. Government intelligence agencies visited us and asked us where we got our ideas.
Where is the cone of silence? Max. We rented it from the CIA. There are some similarities. between the real world of Espionage and the imaginary world of Espionage, let me princess, many of the things that we had dreamed of were actually in various stages of development in my lipstick is a transistor remote control in many ways it actually did uh parallel uh Real World what we call business applications every time we had a list of ideas we sent them to them in case one of them might be something they could develop, this is the boss, but while getsmart imitated life in the CIA, the boss will control control of the The moment he walked into his office, he would immediately get a migraine.
His hand went up to the bridge of his nose and squeezed. No, but it bothers me. Ed plat was a serious actor, he was a dramatic actor and suddenly he was surrounded by these nutcases and I mean he took it all with a big grain of salt. This pill, when ingested, will bring a painless death. Approximately 20 seconds there is a question: how can I get them to take it? the boss struggled to lead control in his ongoing battle against an international organization of evil called chaos and his vice president of public relations and Terror Conrad sigre chaos yes chaos I asked you not to tell me that Sigfried was angry Sigfried was dismissive nothing that Staka told him introduced or someone was good enough how do I know he's still alive?
I'll let you talk to him of course, the famous scene was when he calls Don and says uh, we were holding your boss hostage Max, don't negotiate with chaos. I am expendable, my life. What happened? Your boss just got silenced by a gun. B. Couldn't you have silenced them? They don't shut up here. The whole character of Sigf Freed, more than anything else, Sig Freed came from my own desire to release the anger within me, which was substantial, as I discovered after years of going to the cuckoo doctor, hence the old gun in the rabbit trick and I fell in love Max combined his wits with Bernie Capel sigfreed, but as haime the robot Lonesome dick Garder provided the show with a sense of family for who are you alone for my friends in the office what friends Shirley the intercom Sid the coffee machine Trudy the silent typewriter Rex the elevator there wasn't a lot of warmth or relationships on the show between Don and Haime there was some warmth that we used to make each other laugh a lot because it was so ridiculous to have a robot as a friend.
I always thought you liked me Max, I like your H, you're my best friend, I'm crazy about you, he felt sorry for me and uh, and I liked him because he treated me like a person, you're cute, you say it, but I don't really I'm serious, I'm serious, don't shout, a lot of people identify me with the show and think you were there every week, you're a regular, but I really wasn't. I only did six shows in 5 years. period and when I was there I really enjoyed it here I'm 86 here I'm 86 so the old double agent with the two faces in the Twin Locker gimmick in the role of agent 13 David Ketchum could appear anywhere 13 are you there garbage? can was like a normal mailbox that's easy when they put you in a washing machine this is difficult 13 hello 8866 says you're going to be on the couch and then you'd keep reading he says with a girl and you keep reading he says holding a martini, tomorrow will be a good day How are you going to find out?
Smart's colorful supporting characters helped make the show a success, but the character of Maxwell Smart transformed Don Adams's life. I became Maxwell Smart and no one ever saw me as anything. more than Maxwell Smart I thought he was the most handsome guy who ever lived. He had no idea that the rest of the country perceived him as a klutz, you know, kuty, dumb, you're successful, you're famous and you're winning. a lot of money and your life changes your life is definitely no longer yours when I wasn't working at getsmart I was working in Las Vegas or Tahoe or Reno or whatever doing stand-up comedy I had very little time with my family because I was constantly working Actors are narcissists, They have to be a little myopic in their life and what they're doing, so that doesn't make for great parenting.
I don't think I would name him father of the year, and yet he was. It wasn't there when he was there, he was too tired, maybe people like Don weren't born to have quiet personal lives. When I came to him, he already had 3 or 400 children and five or six wives, I think if they didn't. You have that job to do, imagine what a nightmare they would be at home. Don's hard work paid off when at the end of the second season, Don Adams won his first Emmy Award. You have these dreams of having your name announced and walking. and thanking everyone was fun.
I'm very happy to have won this. I had a bad day at the track on Saturday before the start of season three. The guy who had written or rewritten almost every script for 2 years quit, I think. He was devastated after 2 years of doing it. He was just tired of sitting in that office every day. Buck Henry left the show to write the screenplay for Dustin Hoffman's classic The Graduate. It was a sad day for all of us, but on its third day. The Getsmart season was still popular enough to attract some of Hollywood's biggest stars. We started getting calls from people who knew Don or knew one of us saying we'd like to be on the show and that included James KH, Bob Hope, Johnny cson here.
You, here, I put my hand between the firefighter's arms. Don's comedian friend Don Rickles made three guest appearances. What I want to know is in Harry as a firefighter, how he can put both hands under his cheeks. He had me and him at every show. he was in we went over budget we're standing here you're doing 40 minutes it's costing me $8 million $7 million in Hollywood the winner is Don Adams and be smart at the end of season three Don Adams won his second Emmy for Maxwell Smart and the show was named best comedy series. I would like to thank my wife Dorothy, who has been the inspiration for anything worthwhile she has done, thank you, but one incident at the ceremony showed that Don's Fame had become a double-edged sword. a sword figuratively and that night they literally gave me the Emmy and I went back to the table and put it down and sat down and those two Wings caught him right there and actually drew blood from him, I mean it was terrifying and Rico said that Emi is hanging from your neck doll Max gets up and 99 get married, but not everyone celebrates what conceivable sex life Max could have in 99 and then he says goodbye to the boss Ed was the boss and the boss the boss died with Ed, which we return to getting in gets smart on Inside TV Land, after that, sorry for that old man, you two at the beginning of the fourth season of Smart in the fall of 1968, the love story that Agent 99 had always dreamed of comes to life, Well, it's not easy to say.
I love you Max, yes, well why didn't you let me tell you? I love you max. The show's ratings had fallen the previous year and network executives felt the romance could draw in viewers. Max and 99 got engaged in the season opening episode which was definitely, uh, to boost the sagging ratings at the time, a wedding always gets some publicity and has a cover of TV Guide, etc., and Do you, Maxwell, take this woman to be your wet lawful wife? 86 and 99 got wet during the fall raids. Do I do it even as a child? I was so excited to see them finally get married.
As rewarding as the wedding was for the viewers. Some insiders felt it was the beginning of the end for Get Smart. Well, I thought when Barbara and I got married. married who changed the show would have fought like a tiger what conceivable sex life could Max really have in '99 there is something about marriage that tends to change the nature of relationships I just think it changes the chemistry and the potential conflict and a part of it that the characters and plot are really about. That same season, Don Adams began directing more episodes. Don loved the challenge, but the extra workload weighed on him and he crossed swords more frequently with the rest of the getsmart team, so why not?
Stand up and fight. I'm no judge of how he was going to work. It's Rashon. You can ask 12 people who worked with me and each one will tell you a different story. Don had to be much more concerned with the program than I was. he goes in and rewrites and I'm sure the writers went crazy, but he just couldn't help himself. There might be little meetings, script meetings where you might have some Don, You're Driving Me Crazy moments, but then they'd agree on it. yeah, your idea is good, he cared a lot about the show, he really did it, he cared for it, you know, and he really wanted it to be good, not only did I do my job well, you don't have to do it that well, can I help it?
If I love my job, Dawn was probablythe one who had the least fun on set because in a sense he was a perfectionist. If you define perfection, perfection is never enjoying the moment, always feeling like there is something more you can do. I think he stepped on a lot of feelings. I used to get a phone call every once in a while, Dorothy would do something, but despite Don's best efforts, Smart's ratings continued to drop and it fell out of TV's top 30 during its fourth season, NBC canceled us, suddenly, unexpectedly, and again I guess they had. projections that said the show won't work next year the bombshell is handcuffed to it NBC apologized for that to get smart after 4 years and 112 episodes, but would you believe Get Smart Rose from the garbage heat?
I called Dan Melnick in New York and he sold the show the next day to CBS. I plotted and convinced the head of CBS that this would be the solution to several of his problems in Hollywood. The winner is Don Adams, ironically Get Smart won his second Emmy for Best Comedy Series and Don Chose won his third Best Actor award after NBC dropped the show. I would like to thank NBC for giving me the opportunity to win this for the third time and I would like to thank CBS for hiring me next year for another chance. thank you very much 99 are you awake?
Yes, Max, in an effort to create a new audience for the show's fifth season. They are beautiful. Max and 99 gave birth to twins who we got rid of very quickly. They were more in the way than anything else. Otherwise, when Max in '99 got married and had kids, it became a much more normal sitcom in many ways. The Smart Creative battery was running out when that was the last time you charged your dry cells last week. Well, go recharge your batteries. I mean, I think we all knew it was our last season and I think the juices, if they didn't dry up, were harder to get flowing each time.
He didn't even appear in a final episode of the season, except briefly in the opening and closing of the show. They had taken a script we had done the year before and took it from South America and put it in Alaska and I said it's the same rpt. only this time with snow instead of palm trees I don't want to do it I'm not going to do it again just because now you have snow and not desert doesn't make it a new show I said I have to go get a checkup I signed up for a week for a checkup because I was exhausted, they called me at the last minute, so I went in.
Max is on a mission in Florida, so this is Agent Quickly at the CIA. Pleased to meet you. I did not do it. I didn't realize it would become part of Get Smart folklore. The only time Maxwell Smart wasn't the star of his own show was in 1970 at the end of its first season on CBS and the fifth season overall of Get Smart was canceled this time. there would be no reprieve the control is closing the business we don't have enough capital to continue operating we left when we should we didn't overstay our welcome like we often do in this business I thought it was okay?
It's over, I'm done, you know, that was enough. I was ready to move on and do something else. Goodbye honey, life comes after Maxwell Smart. He wanted to do a serious drama. Everyone laughed. They laughed as I sat down to act when we get back in, be smart inside TV Land, inside TV Land, be smart is encrypted with 500 top secret messages, would you believe?, 150 hand signals and 82 interpretive dances, How about 15 interviews and a cheeky promotional message telling you to watch, get smart? So that's what it was for more behind the scenes, keep watching inside TV Land and for satisfying television every week.
Night Watch, get smart at 10:30 right here on tvland, just ITS until then, after that, come on, what are you two doing right? Don't we have one of us three Chief one who photograph smiles after getsmart went off the air in 1970 Don Adams starred in several short-lived television shows a comedy called The Partners did not survive the 1971-72 season his next screen test of Don Adams from the 1974 series lasted only 12 episodes, it was difficult, if not impossible, for him to transition into another character because he nailed it with such indelible characterization that you can't just snap out of it and be something else, I so relate to that character that no one thinks of me as anything else, but you know, Max ual smart, who talks like that, you see, it turns out that I have a very distinctive and unique voice, the character becomes smart that he is not. really done, uh, the voice is not finished and the personality is not finished, it's a blessing and a curse and uh, I'm sure it's been difficult for him over the years and uh, but there are those of us who We are very grateful.
I came to play the Wisconsin skinny guy cast like Maxwell Smart Don directed and starred in Aurora's P pole commercials. It is fun. I think it has to be very, very difficult to be someone who achieves that kind of stardom, aggregation, enemies and people. running after you and I think when you start to slide a little bit off the top, it really has to take its toll. I have never been a role model as a husband. Don saw the problems in his acting career and it has already caused problems in the marriage. I think you really have to do it.
Being seriously punished to get over it and we are one of those couples that didn't make it. Don and Dorothy divorced in 1975. There were some difficult years after that, you know, very painful years because I saw my parents on many occasions. The pain when I got divorced is a kind of Siberia for me. They all liked my wife more than me and I don't blame them. She is a wonderful woman. In 1974, tragedy struck the Getsmart family when the man who played Chief Ed Platt died unexpectedly. from a heart attack at the age of 58 I think he ended his life too soon by smoking.
He was devastated. He loved Ed. He didn't even know he was sick and suddenly, out of nowhere, the good man Ed was the boss and the boss the boss died with Ed. 3 years later in 1977, Don married Judy Luciano and started a new family, forcing Don to return to the role of Maxwell Smart. My wife was pregnant and I did it for money and I hated the script based on Get. Clever movie The Naked Bomb was released in 1980. This chalet is completely surrounded by 500 Alpine troops. I find it hard to believe. Would you believe 150 Tyrolean ski soldiers?
The only movie I've ever seen at a drive-in was The Naked Bomb. just one and hating it, Get Smart was resurrected once again for a 1989 TV movie called Get Smart Again. Get Smart Again was the closest we got to revisiting the original concept. It was mostly a nostalgic thing, working with Don again and having the regular cast. of characters, it was fun, it was good to see them all again 6 years later, Fox updated Getsmart once again and they never asked me to be forgotten, they never asked Leonard Stern for advice. The Fox series was canceled after only seven episodes and I absolutely hate it.
I hated all the remakes after Get Smart. I did every variety show that existed at the time. Carol Bernett Dean Martin and others in the years since getsmart. Barbara Feldon has continued acting today; she still lives in New York City, where she does voice-over work. I never felt driven to do another series. I have found other things that I enjoyed doing. I hope I improved Barbara's life, but I think we ruined her career because I think she was on her way to becoming an important actress in other areas in 1993 Feldon appeared in Mt about you in the role of actress Dian Caldwell known for her famous character TV's Spy Girl You Know Diane has done a wonderful job since Spy Girl Shakespeare in the Park, the new drama Workshop on no that's Okay, people want to know about Spy Girl, they don't want to know about me, no matter what you do, People always remember you as Spy Girl, but the real life spy girl only has the best memories of Get Smart, she is trapped in time. a small flower is trapped in an Amberg glass and we can celebrate that it existed. do some Kyrie Grant S no, no, I don't do Impressions anymore, oh okay, Don Adams and Bill Dana have remained good friends over the last few years. half a century you'll never get your way I can't even do Carrie Gred again no you're doing well it seemed good to me uh I did it yeah well today Don likes to spend time with friends and family and he still enjoys from the racetrack, he goes to the Turf Club in Hollywood Park and plays with the horses and he loves it.
Don chose a winner by voicing the cartoon character Inspector Gadget. I've been inspecting a device for I don't know 15 20 years. I don't know how long, but to millions of fans, Don Adams will always be aging. 86 Maxwell Smart, deep in the closet, just when I thought there was room for both of us, it was unlike anything else in his time, uh, and it was genuinely. It's funny, there have been a huge handful of really special, unique, imaginative shows that can't be duplicated and I think maybe that's Get Smart's niche. I was never as happy as I was in Get Smart and I never worked as hard, but when you're doing something that you really like and you really enjoy and you really believe in, you don't care about the work and we have to shoot and kill and destroy, we represent everything.
What is good and healthy in the world now that you are smarter. Be smart, stay tuned for two great episodes of the series. Now you can enjoy them from a completely new perspective. It's 1 hour of being smart next on TV Land h.
