I was GIVEN a Semi Truck for FREE... Will It Start & Drive? WHO got the BETTER Deal... THEM or ME?

Mar 17, 2024
fuel that would basically plug in here from a tank, so If I try to go through this clock I get nothing. I don't think I have a ball of control there. Yes, let's try to clean it. Just try running a wire through it. There may be a ball of control. We hear that it is now

free

or unobstructed either way, that was not the case before. I think there's a control ball in there. I hear something, yes, there is definitely a small spring and some kind of glass or steel ball. Don't know. I don't know, maybe that's not the problem because if it's working the right way, it probably doesn't have enough pressure to overcome it and release it.

I can hear it in there, either way we're going to throw this away. Come back and try it because I just want to get that out of the way before we do anything. Well, place your bets. Place your bets, let's get

start

ed or

will

this be one more thing that didn't work out? Let's find out. For a second I thought we had it figured out initially on the first

start

of the day, it'll idle a little low, I'll give it a little throttle and then it'll just go to the moon, so I don't know. try again, well we didn't fix the fuel at the actual pump, this line is here, it's that line there and as the guys at a diesel service always say, run these old dogs on the diesel that's in

them

it's really really bad for the pumps so I think what I could do is try disconnecting

them

at the pump, put it in a bucket of 5G diesel and see what happens, see if I can find a fitting for that here, there's a filter down there.

More Interesting Facts About,

i was given a semi truck for free will it start drive who got the better deal them or me...

I removed the fixture, this line that goes right here essentially goes right there. I have the other end disconnected. I was trying to do it from that end to remove this hose, but I can't get the pump connector out as is. If I had done it before, when I had the pump off, that would have been it. cool and all but hindsight being 2020 and we're basically going to remove everything from the fuel system except this hose so I have this fitting that goes from this flared fitting to a pipe fitting. I brought a bunch of pipes, look.

If we can find a union that's the right size, that looks good, that one looks good, half an inch, let's see it thread, well, let's go with that one, it looks cleaner and then these are all barbed hose fittings, Let's see if we can find one. We need it to twist on this end, so we're going to need a big piece like that, but I want it to go down to a smaller hose, you know, like a thin hose like that, because that's what I have, oh, that one. that

will

probably do is that thread here, it works fine there and then there, that's how we'll adapt our own fuel line to the injection pump.

This garbage is completely dry, make it work for today. The diesel we are getting was either tinted red or very old and maybe even both but this came straight out of the injection pump when I took that little cap off when it was still on the machine but yeah it's not right so here it is. What we are going to do is 5 gallons of clean diesel. I'm going to run a line from here to the injection pump using this and then I'm going to tie the line to this to keep it straight down so it doesn't end up wanting to curve up, which is what happens when you put it on a spool like this .
Very well, the diesel can be connected to the injection pump. The only thing left of the original fuel system is the actual PT pump and a small hose. If we still have a problem, maybe it's that hose, but I don't know, let's figure it out properly. The reason it worked so weird at first is that it had to bait the line we added. It had no fuel once it was primed. it went up, it just reached the maximum, so hug. I found a loose connection on the actual motor that I loosened but didn't tighten a while ago, let's see if that fixes it.
No, I'm going to stop saying that I think I found the problem, but I found a problem, you see it right there, you can barely hear a whistle, so there's a hole in this hard line right there, so that could be it. problem. What you could do is cut it here and on the other side. and just put a piece of rubber tubing in there with hose clamps because I don't have that here, but I do have hose clamps, but that could be where it's sucking in air right here so it goes from the head down to essentially this tube. which I think is the return line, well I guess we have to fix it either way so let's do it right, that's what we have, we have a rubber line that goes from this hard line to the other port and from this line hard. here to the return block, so both lines look pretty suspect, so I just cut them off and put some rubber on for now, double hose clamp on both sides of all of them, put all the other fittings back on, reconnected activate the accelerator, okay, let's go.
Let's see if we start it now and see what happens, here we go, I aired the brakes, let's start it running and see what happens, well we had one tire spinning and the

drive

r's side rear axle was spinning. The others weren't moving at all, well this machine isn't cooperating. I'm done working on it here. I don't want to mess around working in the gravel and have to bring a

truck

full of tools, so we're going to drag it. I get on the trailer and take it back to the shop. I'm still pretty confident this is a good engine.
I have no idea about the transmission. I know, I started it up and then, you know, I tried to plug it in. I got this shaft. This side here was spinning, as you can see, you know the dirt marks are different, so it's spinning. I have both brake chambers caged, that one and that one over there, you know they're caged because there are bolts sticking out of the back. Otherwise, there is a plug that covers and keeps the water out on a

semi

like this. There are only two parking brakes. SL emergency brake chambers. This rear axle only has the brakes that when applied, activate the brakes, but release when they are not and this one here has completely run out of Wi-Fi, he has decided that he wants to join the Club dust by dust, there is practically nothing left inside there, so obviously that's not good, but it doesn't hurt us here, so maybe this one came loose, yeah, actually, I can see it now, I see this pile of dirt that would have settled right here up to the bottom, so this tire did it, or this axle also turned a little on this side, oh yeah, you can tell with the dirt there, I didn't realize that, well, long story short, let's work on this somewhere else , but let's put it on the trailer, go ahead, I got it out of its hole, I need to get it started and started. the wheels a little so it rolls up

better

on the trailer, let's see if it starts cold as easily as it was fine, so I added a ratchet strap from the steering wheel to the frame and the reason is to keep them to keep them.
These wheels turned that way because when I started pulling it before, the wheels turned that way but they came back, so I need I don't have a lot of room to work here there's a

truck

, a car, a trailer, a

semi

, there's all kinds of things. on the road so I have to try to line this up the best I can second by oh oh look so if you haven't seen them before these are heavy duty wheel chalks designed essentially for big trucks like this when you're operating a truck big wrecker or a truck with a winch like this one so you can keep the machine from rolling back or whatever you're pulling by dragging the truck into it and these are old school built like a tank there's these big serrated sections that bite and then Obviously the wedge fits under the tire so they work absolutely amazing.
I need to place a string in this one, there is a string in the other one. Some of the pulls I do with this truck would not be possible without these I tried wood I tried all kinds of other things to lock the wheels. These are the only things I found. Now we just pull the dead weight. The axles were locked. The rear wheels were dragging. The front ones weren't even there. I don't think it turned and it finally came loose, but yeah man, I can't say enough about this truck and the winch it has, it's absolutely incredible, so let's put them on, let's move forward a little bit.
Chain it up, uh, we're going back to the store, what's okay, we made a little mess here, let's clean it up good, it's not perfect, but it'll be good enough, what are you doing here? Still see come on let's go good let's rock sh we got here safely just before the rain so I really wanted to get it running, driving, trying to figure out the transmission before the end of this video but I need your help if you know anything on an L10 Cummins and can you tell me what the potential causes are for me just accelerating towards the moon, maybe I'm still sucking air somewhere, I don't know, but leave me a comment, let me know what you think.
I'm open to anything. I really think this truck, the engine transmission are in very good condition, the cab probably not, but you know, the rear end is probably worth saving, the fifth wheel is probably worth saving, the license plate is worth saving, the bump, so it all begins. Does the engine and transmission work? Because if they do, I want to put them in a different truck. If they don't, I will remove the starter and take out the alternator. We will remove pieces and it will hang. to them and then it's just a bunch of junk but the fact that it runs so well and only gets to moon revs says something's not right and we may have a very good engine here so let me know if you have any ideas for a LT. a 10 cumins engine built in 1985 I don't know anything about mechanics no computer in any way successful recovery we got it running it didn't

drive

on the trailer or drive home but it's ok thanks for your support I really appreciate it , I'm waiting excited.
For more information on this old beast and all the others we've been rescuing, guys, have a great time. I will see you soon.
