I was BLOWN AWAY by this innovation in REAL Hardwood Floors!

May 09, 2020
At today's construction show, we're wrapping up our last day here at the Decking and Remodeling Expo and I came across a very interesting heart of the floor product that you've never seen before. I'll let the founder and inventor tell you. about it and then Clayton and I will talk about some possible uses, let's start right guys. I want to introduce you to the inventor of

this

product. Evan has a very interesting story about how

this

came to life, so Evan gives us the background on this. Yeah, sure my job before this was a wood products consultant, so I worked with big companies helping them improve their products and what we were seeing is that in 2013 a lot of wood

floors

were performing poorly and my father is my business partner and He sat down with me one day at lunch and said, "You know, the problem is not the fact that it's wood, but the fact that they nail it because wood likes to move and if you nail it it can't do what you want." wants".

To do this, what we did was design a system where we used full thickness

hardwood

, like you would see in a normal tongue and groove, but then we used this rail system to connect the boards to each other instead of to the subfloor. In itself, this allows the boards to move as a full sheet and you don't get the gaps you typically see in a conventional wood floor installation. It's crazy, so this is a

real

3/4 oak floor, although yeah, right. Oh, 3/4 floor. lots of room to renovate it, so you can pick it up outside your house, send it to renovate outside the house, so I'll send it back, install everything done, no hassle, and the other thing I thought was interesting This is, everything is Finished on all sides, yes, so we designed a sealing system to completely surround the board.

More Interesting Facts About,

i was blown away by this innovation in real hardwood floors...

I had a board submerged for two hours and it didn't pick up any moisture, so I have to do it. A little more testing on that before publishing extensive literature, but we're seeing some

real

ly great results. Now show me what the benefits are and how easy it is to stop on this floor, yes definitely, so basically this is our floor. system here assembled, if you look at your footing there, I'll show you that it's completely floating, so it doesn't attach to the subfloor with nails or glue, so what we're seeing here is once this flooring is installed, it looks exactly just like a normal

hardwood

floor, but our big goal is to protect your investment, so if something happens, you can easily lift this bleach system up and

away

from any danger, clean up any water spills or dishwasher malfunctions you may have, and then put it all back and how.

Is it easy to put it in? To start, it was sliding this and laying this plank at home, yeah sure, I'm crossed here, so installing hardwood flooring has been plagued by the fact that it takes special labor and tools to lay it down for our installation. All you need is a simple non-marking mallet and just putting a little weight on the board next to it. Our installation speeds here actually rival carpet so weak I can do 40 square feet in four minutes. We have a YouTube video with that countdown interested in taking the 40 square feet in four minutes, yeah, I mean, you can do a kid's room in 15 minutes, 20 minutes, yeah, so basically what we're looking at is what which used to take a man a whole day and you can do it in two hours, that's what.

It's amazing how cool it is to have a couple more boards here for you, now the quick installation doesn't go unnoticed on

floors

that look like wood, like your luxury vinyl tiles, and those things would look like floors. I like it too, no one likes it, but what? What we have here is something they can't do, so yes, you can lift those floors, but you have to lift the entire floor. Our system offers the benefit of the fact that you can lower it to the floor with an industrial suction cup. like you would use it on rigid tiles, yes, yes, so you have a big suction cup there, yes, you can't attach it to the floor and take out a single board, check it, so if this thing gets damaged in construction, if something happens, take it out. a single board and replace it yeah that's crazy the other cool thing I like about this is look look this is a real hardwood and this is your ply this is your place to correct yeah so You can literally take this board if this one had some damage, say, throw it through a thickness planer, remember this through your Dewalt planer, remove 1/32 of an inch, it would be ready again or frankly it would have a hole for you that could sand and finish. your floors properly with a thickness planer and not a wood floor sander and it doesn't have to happen in your home, so there's no dust or dirt to clean up;
You can actually take it to the garage and do it there, that's crazy. Evan tell tell To me, this is not commercially available, at least not very widely, but how can we find it so they can find us on our website? Stellar

innovation

s, don't worry, okay, and what we are doing is selling a hundred apartments in 2019. and what we are seeing is a pre-order system starting November 1st. You can visit the website and place a deposit order. When your floor arrives, we will call you to let you know your floors are ready and then what we will do.
What we'll end up doing is working with you to make sure you get the flooring you want because you're actually adapting this custom to this and that, by the way, this is patented. Evan waited until Pat had two patents to patent before he made this suit, so if you're seeing this overseas somewhere you can't, you can't make this system, he has the patent on this, yeah, this is really brilliant. I'm curious to see where you'll be in five years, man, this is really interesting. system, let's bring Clayton back and talk about some possible uses for this, the showroom is closing, they're literally about to kick us out, but Clay and I thought this was a really interesting booth now, if you don't know Clayton, this is the editor of The Journal Blight Construction, this is the man we found behind all that amazing content, but Clayton, what do you think is interesting when it comes to a contractor or even a homeowner?
Well, for me, it's the contractor part. of that, the fact that it's finished on all four sides as a prefinished product, it's not just the back of the front but the back from a moisture content perspective. I'm thinking about basement floors, yes, and you would still put rosin paper or If you're worried about moisture, black paper, everything as a base, but more than that, it's the plate, you know, Evan mentioned the dishwasher leak in one Refrigerator ice maker overflowing and you and I have seen that kind of damage, you know? a flat, but I'm also thinking about this in the flooded country, you know, we've seen a lot of that, you saw a lot of Houston after Harvey, that's right, we just passed through Florence and this afternoon Michael will make landfall in Florida, so many of you are experiencing serious flooding and even flooding in the country with increased thunderstorms and things like that, and I see, boy, that you could just take these things out, dry them, dry your house, that is, and put them back down if it's okay or It's crazy. enough that even if you had a small enough house you could lift this floor up, put it on your second floor so it floats, wondering what, like I mean, they were talking about super fast installation times, I think this has a lot of applications, but still it's still a real wood floor that I like, sure, sure, this is not something you know, we'll buy it at the IKEA floor, right, this is the real deal, it's not vinyl, there's nothing gas, the other thing I like is to take notes. from you in the hidden door category, you have a big safe on your floor, you just open it and you know, hide, hide and put

away

, make sure your money is safe right there on your kitchen floor, in fact , I could draw a couple of boards, who would?
You don't access your safe, you would have no idea it would be underneath, that's great. I thought about that money video for the future of these guys. I think they are stellar

innovation

s. Calm is your website. This is an upstart, which is another thing we thought. It was interesting, in fact, everyone at their booth was either the inventor, the wife or the father, very cool guys at the company, so check them out. I think this will be available more widely in the future, but Clayton, I thought I'd give you a quick tour. Here's to hopefully seeing you next time at the Deck & Remodeling Expo here in Baltimore.
