I Tested Clickbait DIY Soap "Hacks"

. I feel like I've just been tarred. And at the time I didn't think that would make a difference. Feel my hand. - Ugh! (laughs) - But clearly it was. I think dish soap is much soapier, right? It's like concentrated. - Yes - Clearly that didn't help us here. I think that's why it's so sticky. Do you want a high five... - No. A hug, a handshake? - I think it passed. (upbeat music) Oh, ah. (laughs) - So, on a third attempt, we went back to the original Blossom recipe, using the measurements we had guessed on attempt number one, but using boiling water instead.

And after putting them in the refrigerator overnight, we were finally rewarded with some not-too-sticky, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-not-quite-runny gummies. He's going to turn around. - And we will glue the landing? Yes friend. - Alright. - Dude. - Not structurally sound enough to sit alone. - Well. (laughs) - He's a very devoted bear, but he doesn't stick to the cutting board and he's a little blue. So they weren't video-level gummies, but they were the best we got. - The trick really emphasizes almost a jolt when you release them, which I don't know how they do it. - A support and movement. - It was almost like night at the Roxbury. -Also, his feet kept coming off. - Yes, everyone has no feet - Oh, I'm the foot destroyer, I really don't know what's going on here now. - Pour one for the feet. -Now although our final jellies were a little messy...

More Interesting Facts About,

i tested clickbait diy soap hacks...

Okay, that one had both feet but her head is cut in half. We took them to the bathroom for a hand washing test. - Soap me up. - Very good, ready? Here we go. He is sinking. Which, to be honest, wasn't great. Oh, it's very slippery. Because the bear instantly became very slippery and slimy and didn't actually foam at all. Actually, I'm going a little hard right now. You may have a little soap on your hand, not that it's completely soap free, but it's more of a film than a foam. Then it was like rubbing on some slightly soapy phlegm.

I think I erased his features, it looks like I got snot on my hand. - Oh. - Oh Lord. It almost fell down the drain. Okay, I'll leave you. So I would say it actually wasn't a very satisfying handwashing experience. Now I think the problem here is that this type is more watery gelatin than actual soap. It looks like Mucinex mucus. But as we saw, dish soap didn't work as well in larger amounts. And it seems like there are a lot of recipes online that try to make a similar product, using liquid body wash or liquid hand soap.

So it could be that the dish soap is the problematic secondary ingredient and doesn't really work well with this type of trick. I'm not even sure why they would opt for dish soap, when liquid hand soap is just as easy to get, if not easier, especially since some of their fellow hacky guys actually used the right soap. Overall, this trick confuses me. It seems like it could be that easy to make gelatin soap, but trying to follow Blossom's recipe will make your life harder. So, with that nightmare behind us, we'll move on to our next trick.
And our third trick is a soap and cinnamon roll trick. Also from our enemy Blossom. Now, this cinnamon roll was actually one of the first soap

hacks

that caught my attention. I thought it looked cute and fun and I feel like it represents a big part of these soap

hacks

that try to emulate realistic foods, more or less. like a forbidden food. The other notable aspect of this trick is that it seems quite complex, I would call it more of a long art that requires some artistic skill and not a trick. Basically, we melted a bunch of white melt and poured in a soap base, then added a little gold soap colorant, a little cinnamon, and a little vanilla essential oil, which I don't think exists.
I have vanilla oil and vanilla fragrance oil, but I think essential oil means something specific and I don't think that happens with a vanilla bean, but I don't know, maybe I'm wrong. We mix it up and then we pour it into a kind of aluminum foil, rectangular mold, we cover it with a little bit of cinnamon, we let it harden, we cut it in half with a pizza cutter and then we roll each slice until it's basically a cinnamon roll. and then top it with a little almond oil and cinnamon glaze and then as a finishing touch, drizzle it with a little more white melt and pour soap base. - You are tired? (laughs) - Things have escalated quickly. (laughs) Don't do that at home.
But we will do our best to make it work. Now obviously a big continuing hole in this video is that they don't share any specific measurements anywhere. So what we decided to do was just assign quantities to things so that we could at least operate in some world. So what I'm going to do first is cut up all of my Melt and Pour Pour soap base. And we need some melt and pour for the paper itself. Court! - Oh yeah. - Plus a little more for the final drizzle. Dude, I'm a pro at cutting melt and pour bases, for some reason that sounded like some fishing. - It's the bass. - I'm like a bass pro shop.
We also needed to prepare our colorants for the base. Now in this video, they use gold liquid soap dye, but I couldn't find that damn dye anywhere. So what I decided to do was use a little bit of two different color blocks from brambleberry.com. (laughs) Which some of you may remember as the website of YouTube soap opera queen Ann Marie, whose tutorials I've followed and who also started getting on her feet. I pretty much buy anything Ann Marie wants to sell me, I'll buy it. And once this is done, we can reach double boiling. - What we had never done before. - What we had never done before. - But we will do it today. - But we will do it right now.
And as a side note, double boiling this Melt and Pour took forever. Oh, something just moved but I don't know if it's because I breathed on it. So I can only assume they did it for aesthetics. Should we dry it from above? I'm actually not kidding. Because microwaving Melt and Pour Soap is much faster. Right now they look like glue sticks, this is glue stew. That being said, once it was finally liquid, we added our cinnamon. OMG, I just spilled cinnamon, literally all over our color blocks and our vanilla oil. Oh yeah. - Oh, that's the right color, Saf. - That smells great. - It smells like Dunkaroos.
I don't even know if those things are street legal anymore. - Very good, I feel like it looks pretty decent, I think we are ready to serve. My face is literally wet from the steam but I also feel good. We also prepared our aluminum foil mold a little ahead of time, just randomly estimating its dimensions based on how it looks in the video. So basically. - Yes Yes Yes. - And then we pour it, it's happening - Go ahead. Distribute that evenly. - There was a lot of cinnamon in the background, but let's ignore it. And after another round of cinnamon...
Oh yes, this smells like Christmas. We let our bread semi-harden. - So the ambiguity is stressing me out a lot but yes. - Now I read online somewhere that it takes about three to four hours to melt and pour soap for it to harden completely, so I'm guessing it would take about an hour for semi. Boy, was I wrong? It's been like 12 minutes and this thing is almost hardened. So let's cut it now. There's cinnamon everywhere but we're living. Unfortunately, although we acted quickly... - Yes, that's all, that's all, that's all. Alright. - Okay, one is bigger than the other. - Okay, okay. (laughs) - We were too late.
It's too hard and too thick. It just broke. - Keep rolling, keep rolling. - And our house of cards collapsed. (laughs) There's no way that's right. That is very bad. It is broken in two places and is falling apart. It looks like our dough was too thick to make a nice muffin. - They look like Vons sandwich rolls - They look like pieces of bacon, they look like meat. And we had definitely waited too long after serving to cut and roll. - This thing is still very hot. They wanted us to go fast. - But I didn't know.
They said to wait until it is semi-hardened. - Those bastards (laughs) those bastards. - So for a second attempt at this trick, we decided to melt it in the microwave in the name of speed. You can see it well? - Yes, let's do it. - Milky? - It's Milky, let's go. - Second, make a longer mold so that our dough is thinner. Yes Yes Yes Yes. - Make sure it is the correct size. And three, wait less time before popping and rolling. Alright, let's do it. It's time to make the pizza. But unfortunately, even though we get closer with this one, roll bitch, roll. - Get out of the way. - I wouldn't say we succeeded.
Alright, that's something, maybe. - Oh Lord. (laughs) It looks like a mouth. - As our buns were still a little thick, still a little hard and didn't have that characteristic cinnamon peak in the middle. So for our latest attempt, we found a random YouTube tutorial on this trick from 2012, which while it didn't propose any exact measurements, it did use a method that looked like it might help. She does pretty much what Blossom does. Well well. - In which direction are you rolling? - Except she doesn't cut the dough before rolling it. -No.-she rolls the cinnamon roll as a unit. - Oh, that's good, that's good.
Saf is tight, like a tiger. -And she then she cuts it in half at the end after pressing it in the middle to create a little bit of that cinnamon roll top. Alright, yeah, I gotta close that seal and just generally squeeze, squeeze. So roll, squeeze and then chop. - Well. - That wasn't in the middle. (laughs) - Okay, you have a big kid and a little kid. - And this really seemed to work much better for us. Very good, I feel good about this. It may not be stellar, but I feel good about it. So we move forward with these rolls, adding the Claro. - They kind of paint in the cracks. - Do you like this kind of? - That's actually working pretty well. - Yes.
And drizzling the glaze. How does this work? - You have to make it rain. - Okay, okay, pass quickly. Oh Lord. - Just do it. - Ready, it's happening. And this happened quickly. - That was fast, man. Give me one more little superficial comment. I'm going to take a photo over my shoulder. - I can do one more. - Oh yes, they look delicious, let's be real. - I guess finally, after a few tries and some modifications to Blossom's technique, we ended up with some good looking cinnamon rolls. Alright, we let our cinnamon rolls sit for a day, so now we'll try washing our hands with them.
Very good, ready? - Okay, foam? - Now, there were some pros and cons of this soap. I don't know how to get it here, maybe I should use the butt. On the pro side, once I figured out how to hold them, I was able to get a lot of suds out of these guys and they smelled too. amazing. It smells like an airport. - Cinnabons and airports, name a more iconic duo. - However, on the downside, the additional decorations we added on top of the roles started to disintegrate very quickly. Yes, he sees that the frosting is already coming off and the frosting has disappeared.
And we also made something of an unfortunate discovery. Oh Tyler, this is exfoliating. - Oh yeah. - That apparently cinnamon should not be put in any body product. There are tons of grains left. - It may be spicy. -Katie from Royalty Soaps, who reacted to this trick in a video we unfortunately watched after she had already washed her hands of this stuff. You really shouldn't put cinnamon in soap. - Cinnamon no. (laughs) No, no. - Since it could burn your skin. - No no no no. -I think I'll be fine after just one wash, but it's not surprising that Blossom suggests people use literal cinnamon on their skin without adding any warning or substituting cinnamon when they easily could. - Use brown mica or maybe some apricot kernel powder.
If you would like to use ground coffee, you can do so but do not add cinnamon. - You heard ma'am, this trick is not a good idea, at least not without some serious modifications and based on the amount of problems we had with it... This is a failure from bass pro shop. (Laughter) This is a fish spinning around in a bucket. I think it's safe to say that Blossom has set up this trick in a way that makes it almost impossible to follow both logistically and dermatologically. So, with an impromptu cinnamon challenge narrowly avoided, I felt it was time to call it quits.
So that was our adventure with Clickbait soap packets. I must say that, overall, they were quite difficult. We spent quite a few days trying multiple attempts to master these tricks and even after all that time, we couldn't even get them to be that good. Overall, I'd say there are a number of problems with these cheats that make them a bit annoying. Beyond the lack of measures, about which we have already complained a lot. - Those bastards (laughs) those bastards. - These hackersThey have a strange lack of attention to detail across the board, saying things like partially melt or let semi-harden or use vanilla essential oil, when that doesn't even exist.
Sometimes this can also be a little unsafe when they say to use things like cinnamon or a whole aloe leaf, thorns and all. - Stems at all, huh? Ok (laughs) - And all this hassle led, at least for us, to some final products that were not very good. It looks like Mucinex mucus. To be more revealing, we tried a fourth trick that didn't appear in this video, which is this soap cupcake trick from Craft Factory. And although we were able to solve it. - How about that? Bada bing bada boom boom boom. - And to make some good looking soap cakes in about 20 to 30 minutes. - Oh, he's just relaxing. - He's chilling like a villain.
The end result of this trick was also not that good with a bit of a strange smell. The bath butter has a strange sour smell. - Well. - It's a small track. And with little structural integrity. Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no. - Oh oh oh. - Oh no. Look, it's lost. Since the frosting completely crumbled after a few seconds. That embedment does not give up. - That embedded is literally the dog in the fire. Alright? (laughs) This is fine, I guess that's all to say. As for the question we posed at the beginning of this video, I think the answer is no, I don't think you can work your way up to nice soap art.
I guess there are some of these tricks that seem to work well, but the ones we tried certainly don't. From my point of view, these hackers only want your clicks and views and really have no intention of helping you make soap opera art. They probably don't even think you're going to try. So where does that leave us? I don't know. I guess with three shitty soaps and pretty clean hands. Thank you all so much for watching.
