I Review Every NECA Godzilla Figure

Jun 04, 2021
So yes, these are Neca

figure

s, they are well sculpted, decently painted, have a great range of articulation and are a perfect budget option compared to buying a sh monster arts

figure

, but before we continue let's discuss what

neca

is o The National Entertainment Collectibles Association is a company that specializes in movie collectibles. They have figures ranging from Alien Nightmare on Elm Street, Back to the Future, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and even more, but today we'll be looking at their Godzilla line. I've acquired

every

Incarnation of Godzilla they've made figures of, so why don't we take a look at them all?
i review every neca godzilla figure
We will start in the first era of Godzilla, the Showa era and what better place to start than the original Godzilla from 1954 or shodaigoji there is not much to talk about here I like the suits and I like the figure now since this is the first figure of Godzilla that we are looking at and since it is also the base for all Godzilla designs, you could also discuss the articulation of the figure all

neca

godzilla

s have this range of articulation they have a rotation in the head at the base of the neck and can open the Jaws can move at the base of the arm They can bend at the elbow and can rotate at the chest They can rotate at the base of the leg, but the bend at the knee is extremely tight, this is an unfortunate and worrying trend that has taken place on all other Nekey Godzilla figures.

More Interesting Facts About,

i review every neca godzilla figure...

Oh and there is rotation in the foot, now the tail has a ball joint at the base followed by a few others, but towards the end of the tail there is a solid piece that has flexible wire. This is something I don't like as it limits the reach of the figure and has the potential to even break if bent too much, hopefully later on. Later, NECA released figures that had more articulated tails and this was a total game changer when I first heard about it. This allows the figure to move fluidly and gives it more possibilities.

The hands are a different story. Some of them have a curve in the part. knuckles while others just haven't been on the wrist so yeah overall a pretty good figure. Now the figure comes with an accessory that, being his atomic breath piece, is decently panned and sculpted, but I always thought it looked like a piece of candy. All you have to do is open his jaw, pop him in his mouth and voila, now there's something interesting I should mention about this accessory before they came packaged with his atomic breath piece, there were versions of the figure that were repainted that made him included.
i review every neca godzilla figure
Of course, I didn't get these figures because they don't look good on their own. Looks like something that would be good for a display piece. Instead, for me at least it only looks good in one angle or one pose, but more on that later. The figures came included with an atomic breath piece. Another thing that changed is the packaging. The packaging seemed plain and boring, but they were then repackaged into boxes that had their movie posters printed on them. It was on a flap that would reveal the figure. 54 one in particular was repackaged with an atomic breath piece, but the strange thing is that when I bought my 1954 Godzilla it was in the older packaging but it had an atomic breath piece.
Now this figure has been repainted, being the 1956 poster version, here is the poster. By comparison, the only reason I bought it at the time is because I couldn't find the actual 1954 figure and I was volunteering to work on a Fye, which allowed me to buy something on the way out and didn't want to go. with empty hands the figure itself, although not bad, suffers from a defect that I did not notice until I took it out of the box, the mouth and jaw of the figure look deformed and crushed, it is even more noticeable when you open the mouth and while I don't really like repaints, I think it's a pretty good figure.
The figure also comes with his own atomic breath piece so you can recreate the poster and although it is a retool of the other figure's atomic breath piece, it looks great and now moves on to the next

godzilla

vs king goji suit king kong this is my favorite figure of the three incarnations of the show and is also my favorite costume of the era, he is very well matched with a shade of dark green, however his hands are molded very closely. together as if they were fused together and although I know that this is a costume from an earlier era, I mean he looks like a frog, but I admit that his eyes and face are very well painted, but it is something I have to complain about. is that his lower jaw looks very thin compared to the other incarnations and this is the first Nekker figure to be included with an unrepainted atomic breath piece; however, 1954's Godzilla used the exact same mold for this breath piece.
I can't even tell them apart, wouldn't it have killed him to have a slight blue tint? Remember that this is the first Godzilla movie in which he appears in color and that's when his atomic breath turned blue. It would have been nice if he was colored the same as the 56 version, but anyway you can also pop this in his mouth and voila, overall this is my favorite mechagodzilla from the showa era and the last Godzilla figure from the era showa is maozugogi from godzilla vs mothra the The figure is decent but it's not my favorite. I have a lot of problems with this figure from the tip of the tail up to the base.
The paint on the dorsal plates looks very faded and I don't know why, but for some reason the dorsal. the plates are extremely hard and rigid, usually on the neck, a Godzilla figure, the dorsal plates are soft and malleable, thank goodness they didn't do this at kirugoji, otherwise they would have had a lawsuit, the following is for more part of the costume than the real figure. the neck looks unusually long and, although it is well painted, the face looks strange and what is strangest are its teeth, which are more noticeable when you open your mouth. He also comes with an atomic breath piece, this time a little longer than the rest. like a flute, all you have to do is open its mouth, stick it in there and that's it, and again, why couldn't they just paint it blue?
So overall despite its flaws ok not the best but ok let's move on to the heisei era our first incarnation is godzilla from 1984 or 84 goji and let me tell you I'm not a fan of this design its Dorsal plates look small compared to those of other Godzillas, which is strange considering he used to be the largest Godzilla at the time. His hands look very small and for some reason one of his hands is molded differently than the other and his feet also look very small and I don't like the design of his head either. It reminds me of a bulldog but well at least he isn't. head prototype, you know, I think I'm happy for this head sculpt, now the body was used for another Neca Godzilla figure, since it's based on NES Godzilla.
Of course, I don't have that figure because I never played the NES game, however, I will. I say this, they missed the opportunity to make Red Super Godzilla or Bagon figures just to throw them in there just in case, so overall, while he's not my favorite figure, he's a decent one, fine by me. The next incarnation is Biogoji from Godzilla vs Biollante. It leaves me a little perplexed, on the one hand, the tail on the figure is the most articulated of all, it is extremely long and allows for many poses, however, the part where you connect it is exposed and ruins it, and at the tip of the tail is sculpted downwards, this is where beniwire could have been used and the body looks a little thin for some reason, or is it just me and what puts me off the most for some reason is the head, it doesn't look bad though.
Let's just say it's not the same as what you see in the movie, it doesn't help with the fact that if you open his jaw too much it looks a little strange, the figure comes with his own atomic breath piece and of all of them, this is my favorite , I really like the swirl effect sculpted on him and just like the rest, all you have to do is push him in there and voila, a rerun of the figure was released based on him getting covered in biolante's acidic sap , but I have to ask why this figure was made.
There was no biollante figure to go with it and I can only see it working. If I had biollante, I could also cover the thing with yak. You'll get the same effect, but overall, regardless, I think it's pretty. Great in our latest era of Heisi, Godzilla is Space Goji from Godzilla vs Space Godzilla. Fun fact: this was actually my first Godzilla in Mecca figure and I have to say that after all these years he still doesn't have much to say here, the figure is really solid of course. I can't forget about the remodel. By burning Godzilla, the figure has a rather interesting feature because the orange parts are slightly transparent.
If you shine a light source through them you get a pretty interesting effect, but there is one problem I found. This figure when I first took it out of the box was extremely stiff and it still is now. I could have used a hair dryer to heat it up, but I did and the ball joint on the head broke. I couldn't find exactly the same thing. piece so that he can't move his head, that's how he would have posed his head. Another retail sale was launched. This is a St. Patrick's Day exclusive to Loot Crate, but let me ask you this, when was the last time you heard of a loot crate?
Honestly, this was the only product advertised by youtuber. I wanted one disappointing thing I must admit about these figures is that they were not re-released with atomic breath parts. This was the first Godzilla to have a new atomic breath attack. It would have been good. If Space Goji had atomic breath pieces and burned Godzilla with his red piece despite that missed opportunity, I think he's a really good figure and represents him perfectly of the Heisei era, the next era we'll see is the millennium era. The unfortunate thing is that these are the only two figures that came out of the millennium era.
It would have been nice if they had final wars goji or even zillow yes that's right I want a zilla articulated figure. I like this mutated iguana they could have. i gave him a repaint based on his anime design the first godzilla we will see from the millennium era is gmk goji from godzilla's mother and king ghidorah's giant marshmallow attack fun fact this is the only figure i got outside of the states I got this from a flea market in Thailand and of these two it is not my favorite. The way the tail is sculpted means you'll have to pose it on the ground and it doesn't look good compared to the rest of the Godzillas.
This tail is terribly short, while the head sculpt looks great, there is a bit of pain from the inside of his mouth that bleeds into his lower jaw and both feet have claws on the toes that are not painted on the bottom and the claws of one hand are painted. Slightly red, making it look like it fought another monster, but other than those issues, it's not that bad and before you say anything, just because I bought it in Thailand at a flea market doesn't mean it's bootleg. I have obtained official figures from Thailand. for example a figure I got from Thailand was the Godzilla sh monster arts from 2017, despite it being official there were pieces of the figure that fell off too easily but by the way they can be reconnected this is a good figure so overall its a good figure its not the best but its ok the latest godzilla of the millennium era is kiru goji or sos goji from godzilla vs mechagodzilla and godzilla tokyo sos and without a doubt this is my favorite incarnation of Godzilla made by Neca and is my favorite.
The Neko Godzilla figure in my collection, in fact, this is where I get the design of my dorsal plates and the tail is beautifully articulated, it's a lot of fun to play with and at the tip of the tail, while it still has flexible wire, no ruins it. but despite being my favorite figure in the collection, he has one problem: the neck and top of the shoulders are connected by a giant piece of flexible plastic. However, even though I say it is flexible, it limits the mobility of the arm and on its face I think its fangs and pupils. they're a little big but i have a question why did neko use sos goji instead of kiru goji if you haven't noticed yet that's actually a scar that's what he looked like in godzilla vs. mechagodzilla how he got the scar it's kind of interesting mechagodzilla o in this case kiru had a weapon called absolute zero cannon when they crashed into the ocean it activated and froze the water around him this not only damaged godzilla but also kiru himself in godzilla tokyo so the wound is still healing as scar so to sum it all up goji is just kiruguji but with battle damage the figure was repainted based on mechi godzilla's maser attack on him but i have to ask again why they did this no figure was released of mechagodzilla to accompany it. means it would have worked, neck also made figures for Pacific Rim, so overall, despite its flaws, this is my favorite incarnation of Godzilla they've ever produced.
Finally, let's take a look at our last era, the legendary Riva era, the first one we'll take a look at. This is a curious fact about Godzilla 2014, as far as I know, this is the last thing I bought inToys R Us. Yes, this really goes to show you how old this figure is. I really don't have much to say about it. I think it's a really good finger, although I think the paint on the figure is a little dark. During the release of the 2014 film, Neca released a giant 24-inch tall Godzilla figure, but this was just the 2014 design, sadly Neca never did.
I've made other versions of Godzilla in this style and this wasn't just an upgraded version of the six inch figure, this thing had more in store, it had a fully articulated tail and a button that allowed him to roar into the next incarnation we will be. Taking a look at Shin Godzilla, now there's a little bit of history behind it, this is actually my third Nekka Shin Godzilla figure, that's because the hand I had the first one disappeared. I then bought a second one to harvest her hand for the first one, unfortunately I used hot water instead of a hair dryer to heat up.
I lift both figures so the paint can wash off of both and you might be wondering why I didn't order a replacement part or just stick with the newer figure. It's because I'm an idiot, of course, and that's why I reluctantly bought one. The third without the path let me tell you why this figure sucks. This has nothing to do with the design of Shin Godzilla itself. I like the design of Shin Godzilla, but my goodness, this figure is a total disappointment. First of all, the paint on his dorsal plates looks very rushed. There's too much red there and that's not the only place where sloppy paint has been applied to this thing.
The paint on his face looks like a mixed mess, it doesn't look right and the teeth don't look like them. They are appropriately sculpted with paint on their claws. They look really rushed and messy, like they were put there at the last minute. What is worse is the pain at the tip of the tail. I know that while Neca figures have good paint applied, they are not. well detailed, but gosh, can you at least try to make it somewhat precise? Wouldn't I have killed them to give it a bone-like color and what the heck are these little bits of yellow paint on it as for the tail itself?
It is the worst tail of all these figures because each segment of the tail is sculpted at an angle. It looks horrible when you try to place it. It also doesn't help that the part of the tail that was separated in the package doesn't. plug it in completely even when i tried to heat it with a hair dryer it's still loose when i was filming me showing the tail it fell off and that's not the only thing it falls off too easily at the base of the leg when you try to twist it it comes off easily and the ankle joints are exposed, it is a little difficult to hide them.
The loosest part of this figure is at the base of the neck. I can't even turn it properly without it falling off and what I hate the most is the head, this is what it looked like when it was in the packaging, this is one of the many reasons why people don't like the figure of the playmates and what's worse is that the head prototype of this thing looked much better and before you say anything, this is not a pirate figure, this is a licensed figure from Touhou themselves, you have to be a real idiot to put their names on a pirate figure so overall out of all the Godzilla figures this is honestly the worst if anyone has the same problems as me please let me know because I can't be the only one and the last Godzilla figure we'll see is Godzilla 2019 and honestly this is my favorite figure, it's right up there with the Sos Goji paint. and the sculpting on this figure is magnificent.
I love looking at this. Now I know someone is going to point out that the eyes and mouth aren't painted correctly, but compared to the rest of the figure, I'm not too bothered by one part that is. What bothers me is a section of the tail, for some reason some sections of the tail are painted in a darker color, unfortunately this sticks out more than the face paint, so overall, along with sos goji, It is my favorite figure. come with the repaint which is the atomic breath version, I know I said I don't like the atomic breath version of these figures, but in this case here it works on its own, after all, in the movie itself, Godzilla is constantly pulsing with nuclear energy. energy, the atomic breath piece itself looks like a long blue swab and unlike the rest of the atomic breath pieces, the inside is hollow and just like the rest, you open its mouth, push it in there and that's it. however, there is another piece that comes with it and it is this impact piece and while it is decently painted and sculpted, the plastic on this thing is very thin, there is even a piece that broke off and of course you put it on the end of the atomic breath piece has no tab it doesn't plug in it just stays there what's the point of this thing it's just a plastic piece none of the other figures had this unfortunately due to how this thing is sculpted you can't recreate that one scene from the movie but this has nothing compared to the 2019 Godzilla on Fire, hell yeah this is the best figure ever and unlike the previous Godzilla on Fire this is all partially transparent so when you shine with a light.
It looks amazing and that was all the Neca Godzilla figures I have in my collection, but wait, there are more during the release of Godzilla King. Neca monsters released figures of Mothra and Rodan and the first titan we will see is Mothra. While it looks good, the figure itself is very fragile, as you can see one of the hinges on the wings is broken and I had to glue it on and if you're not careful the wings themselves can break, I really don't like it . how thin the plastic is, as stated above the wing is in a hinge joint along with the one below, however the legs just move back and forth except the ones on the chest for some reason Right, the only accessories that comes with this thing is it. the chrysalis base and the stick holding it there was a cancellation accessory which, being its larval form, would have been nice if they kept it.
The repaint he got is simply based on the appearance of him on the poster of him and that's about it overall despite how he looks I'm not really a big fan of him as he can break it easily. That work is already done for me and the final figure we will see is Rodin. This figure really confuses me, so this is the base. for a stand just kidding it's actually this exploding piece that looks like a muffin that exploded in the oven so here's the stand itself and when you plug it in it looks like it's tilted at an angle and I could also talk about the stands themselves .
This is Rodan's position and this is Mothra's position. To use Mothra's position, all you have to do is find a place on her body to hold her there. It seems simple enough, but let me ask you how the hell you use Road and stay there. There is no part of your body where you can firmly hold the stand and

every

time you think it fits, it always falls off. Now you have to be very careful when it comes to sticking the stand onto the base, the hole in the base is very deep and the stick itself is thin so if you move it too much it could break.
In fact, that's what happened to me. This is actually my second Rodan figure and even if you lift him up in the air the stand itself is not secure on Rodan so it wobbles, this is really not good for a display piece as it can easily fall over and it looks like a flying piece of jerky. Speaking of which, the paint on this figure looks very simple, I understand that his skin is supposed to look cold. lava but at least add a little more orange to it, there is a twist in the head and neck and the legs are just solid pieces that don't turn at all because of the tail and I call them solid pieces because there is no other joint besides that and there is no articulation on the main body it's just one solid piece and like Mothra's wings they are extremely thin, not even worth talking about.
All you need to know is that they are on hinges. I know what the head is worth talking about, for some reason Neca decided it was a good idea to give Rodan interchangeable heads instead of a hinged jaw, so if you want to give Rodan a different expression you have to change heads constantly to be able to do it, I mean it's very well painted and sculpted, but why do you have to go through all the trouble just to give Rodan his jaw dropping? You could have given him a jaw hinge. Heck, there's no other place to put your head on the stand.
In fact, the head is so small that while filming this scene I thought I had lost it not knowing it was right in front of me. The only place you can put her is on one of the sculpted towers on the base, so overall this figure is larger. or less it's up to you if you want to buy it I don't recommend it but like I said it's up to you but I'm glad that neca made figures of other monsters in the godzilla series unfortunately in 2020 neca lost the rights to godzilla and they have discontinued their line now you can still find these Neka Godzilla figures in stores, but their numbers are slowly decreasing so I recommend buying them online and if you are going to start a collection, I recommend getting one of these.
I really enjoyed collecting these things. and the memories I made with them made for some of the best Godzilla figures I've ever owned at an affordable price. I remember looking for both flaming Godzillas to add to my collection and I remember getting excited about the announcement of sos goji and it's a shame they don't make Godzilla figures anymore. I hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane and I'll see you in the next video. Okay, no one else is about to see my favorite Godzilla movie.
