I listened to nothing but Taylor Swift for a week

Apr 13, 2024
For the next seven days, I won't be listening to anything but Taylor Swift. And my biggest question is: will I become a speedster? I have two rules. A first rule is that I should listen to her entire discography before listening to a song twice. That means I'm reviewing her ten albums, which are just her studio album. And don't worry about all the quickies out there for whatever album she re-recorded. I'm listening to Taylor's version because my friends explain the whole situation. My second rule is that I must listen to her whenever she can. So if I'm going for a run from work, I'm in the car or I'm just relaxing at the house.

I'm listening. Taylor Swift. But either way, I'm going to try to figure out why some people love it and others hate it. But if for some reason you don't know who Taylor Swift is, you don't know who she is or much about her. Let me explain. This will be a quick explanation. Well. That was bad. I'm sorry. Alright. Obviously, Taylor Swift is a highly successful American singer-songwriter who has made significant contributions to the music industry. She was born in 1989 in Pennsylvania. She began her career at a young age, showcasing her talents. Yes, blah, blah, blah. She quickly gained recognition for her catchy songs, relatable lyrics, and vulnerable storytelling.

Her self-titled debut album was released in 2006, and from then on, it was like listening to a personal diary of hers every two years. She continued to fall, blow after blow. But in 2014, Your Girl shifted her style toward pop with the release of 1989, which had songs like Shake It Off, Blank Space, and Bad Blood. Now you know how someone gets big enough and her fan base gets a name. Beyoncé has the beehive. Justin Bieber had Beliebers and your girl, Taylor Swift, has Swifties. And four years ago. no no no. But let me tell you, Tim McGraw, that's wonderful. At the end of my likes, favorite albums, and favorite songs, I'm worried about tomorrow because I'm going to run and I have to do about nine miles because I'm training for a marathon. So, not just because it's Taylor Swift, but before you really get to know someone, if you don't have an upbeat song to listen to, sometimes it's a little hard to read. So I'm a little worried about that. But we'll see what happens, what she does. Day number two. You know, today started was good.

I did some chores around the house and finally moved on and got out of the way because I didn't know how I was going to feel about it. I went ahead and started running and I will say, spoiler alert, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was strange, but it was bad. I mean, it wasn't that bad. I'm mentally preparing for this first run, and I skip the music because I don't take risks when you write things down. But that song, that's when with things. Keith Urban I mean, I'm glad I started, but in my head a little bit, I will say that if a song like that comes on while I'm running, it's going to be a struggle.
When I got the car, the song Don't You from their album Fearless was playing. Taylor's version, of course. According to my running app, this run should take me between an hour and 10 minutes and an hour and 25 minutes. So I should finish a good part, at least an album. I think I've reached the end of it for this one. I can't really remember what's on my mind, but come on. I wasn't as bad as I thought I was going to be. I heard all these songs. I'm on the song Electric Touch, so I know she did a song with our guy.
So I'm learning things. However, there were some songs that were perfect for running around, at least in my house right now. Then they could be on my own playlist. Like. And then I made it after all that. Yes that's fine. Well, that was yesterday, but it's still pretty difficult. So after running I tried to play a few rounds of Call of Duty while listening to Red, but then life hit me so I didn't get a chance to listen to anything until later when I fell asleep and called it a night. listening to all this Ronin. Yesterday was the last day before my Big 20 run and I was determined to finish all of our albums.
And you will understand why I said yesterday, right now. So I ended up with Red, which was solid, along with these top three options. Yes very good. Ten minute version 22 and I bet you think of me with holy land and message in a bottle as honorable mentions. 1989 started while I was doing things around the house, and this album was probably the album I already knew the most songs about. I guess I just realized that all of these songs were specifically on this album, although 1989 was what people call her transition to the pop album, although I would say that on Red, she was like, testing the waters a little bit with songs like I Knew You Were Trouble 22 and We are never, ever get back together.
She just wants to see how that would work. And then after seeing the results, she was like, okay, I like that. Boom. 1989. I think it's one of the best things I'm learning so far, and it probably happens to any artist. But you take the hits out of it and listen to the songs that most people don't know, or die-hard fans only know that kind of stuff, and they're actually good. My top three in reputation were ready for it, so get into the game and then I added something bad as an honorable mention. The next one was lover and I'm like a lie.
It was later that day and I didn't know if I was going to finish that album. Evermore and Midnight folklore, all before the next morning. No, I was just accepting defeat, but I didn't manage to go from lover to reputation to lover. I felt like she was saying, Oh, I'm a little shivering. I gave everyone so much intensity that now I'm bringing back a little bit. My top three lovers were CRU Summer Lovers and you need to calm down. And then she had me in the newspaper as an honorable mention. So if I knew it wasn't going to finish before the next day.
Well. Today. And on top of that, arriving late at night and being tired, listening to a record like folklore. And that's the worst half of the music I can listen to if I'm going to try to stay away. I literally made it through the wine and fell asleep. That's why I'm filming this. After my big race, because I went out for a run at like 6:00 in the morning. I finished what folklore I could get my hands on on the way to where I was going to run and the rest of the folklore I

listened

to during my run along with evermore and midnight.

to during my run along with evermore and midnight. Now, I will say that before I ran, I made sure to make a Taylor Swift playlist because I knew she was going to finish all of those albums and I needed something to play right after that. I did it. I feel like I'm training myself to not necessarily pay attention to the beat of the music when I run. And it's actually helping me, which is nice, to have my running playlists triggered by my custom running playlist pedals.
It gave me a boost in my life. Let's be honest, most of the songs come from the Reputation album because they were mostly upbeat in 1989. I'm not going to lie. Here are my top three of those three albums. Folklore, We have exile. I love that song. Number two, we have the one. And then number three is Man Woman in Cardigan, as an honorable mention was repeated over and over again. We have Willow as my number one song, Evermore. So no, no one. No crime. And then the honorable mentions are the champagne and the long history. And last but not least, Midnight's.
We'll start with lavender haze, maroon and then snow on the beach with midnight rain and antihero as honorable mentions. But after that, it was like a relief. I went through all of her albums. It's funny because Abigail and I went out to lunch and someone in this apartment that was above where we were, they were playing I don't know what song it was. I looked at Abigail and thought, That's Taylor Swift. Now that I'm at the point where I can listen to any of her songs as many times as I want, I actually ask some of my friends what her best albums and her best songs were, just so I can be prepared to this moment.
Obviously it's what I like, but I just want to see what they like. I found myself going back to reputation a lot and being lied to. But let's talk about the NFL. As you know, Taylor Swift has been dating Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs. Hopefully at this age too. The NFL noticed and started paying close attention. I'm talking about the point where, like, the Chiefs scored a touchdown and they'd show it to you, especially if Travis Kelce made a catch. So of course fans took notice. In other words, the common consensus was that people were just saying, who cares? or 9 seconds for Mahomes to throw his starter.
Today is the day. Good for Taylor Swift running playlists on trial. Now, I just want to remind you that A, if you want to access this playlist for yourself, is the description of this video. And B, these running songs are for me, even if they are slow songs. Like Slow as in, like a folk song, for example, the rhythm of the song works for me. So if it works for you, that's fine. But that's what works for me. And on Spotify, for example, well, that's weird. There are many other Taylor Swift playlists. So mine is not the best.
It may not be the best. Here we are a

week

and some changes later. And it's funny because I got in my car the day after I finished the seven days and Taylor Swift was playing from my phone. I don't even think about that. And I think it's because I'm so used to hearing it. But my first thought was: Why do people hate her so much? I mean, maybe it's her voice, maybe it's her music, maybe it's her success, maybe it's her looks or a combination of all of that. I don't know. But that also makes you think, why do people love her so much?
And I know every artist has fans who are just obsessed with them, but it makes you think, why do people love Taylor Swift so much? The second thing I thought was that my Spotify algorithm is probably like: Boy, you, while you're not here, what are you doing? They probably thought someone had hacked my account or something. Now I will say that my rankings for the albums and each song on the album, so, for example, in 1989, it had blanks, number one, but it's not that anymore. It would definitely be the style of the song. So you have to remember that I only listened to all of her songs once and based it on that.
Overall, I feel like Taylor Swift started out as good Taylor Swift, good country singer Taylor Swift, and obviously she changed like most people change as they grow in her career or whatever, she changed. Like I don't know who she is and you're showing me off as fearless Taylor Swift versus Reputation. Taylor Swift, I would have initially thought they were two different people. For me it just doesn't match. But I will say that when you get to midnight, her Midnight album, I feel like it's a mix of all of her albums together. You may not agree with that, but that's just my opinion.
After listening to everything from start to finish. Well, speaking of her albums, this brings me to my final ranking of all of her albums. My Top You are in the top three songs and the top three albums. So it's actually hard to choose between one and two, but my best albums are 1989 Reputation and then Midnights, while my three best songs are Style Exile. And then that's how it is. but I don't know if I would like him to get in the car, I just don't do it randomly. Goes. Now, that may change in the future, but that also raises other questions I need to ask, like, will you listen to Taylor Swift regularly?
I mean, I added her songs to my running playlist, but I don't know if I'd like it if I randomly got in the car and didn't do it. I probably won't just turn to Taylor Swift, but now I have this random knowledge of all of her songs. So I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. Will you listen to her next album? I honestly say I'll listen to it now. I won't be like waiting for it to fall or anything. Like I could see myself forgetting what's being released and then eventually listening to it.
But I'm not going to be waiting for him or anything like that. Would you go to one of her concerts? Look, I have a mixed review on this because I would base it on I know that she and her production team have historically put on a good show, like you just want a good show, a good production, I've heard. which is great. Regardless of whether you think she can sing or not, regardless of whether you really like her or not, the show itself is good. Then I would go. But being around all those people, all those die-hard speedsters, I don't know if I would do that.
That's just me. What are your honest opinions about Taylor Swift? So I don't hate her. I do not love her. her and her writers and anyone else she works with. They know exactly what kind of melody to make with the songs, what kind of melody, all that kind of stuff. Things that work for what she created her brand for. So I respect her success and all that, but I'm not like a lover. Forme, she is like that food that I like, I don't dislike this food and I don't love this food. As if it wasn't my favorite.
It's like in the middle, like, maybe I'll eat this once in a while, but it's not like I'm not going to say, let's go get this. You know, I'm saying. The last question is: do you consider yourself a speedster? The short answer is no. If there was like a meter or something like that. I don't hate Taylor Swift and I'm not fast. So I'm kind of in the middle. Like it's 50%, you've got your guy. Actually? So, I mean, you can learn from this video. You can do whatever you want with it. But lastly, I'd just say give people a chance musically, unless they're just terrible.
Give people a chance to listen before you judge them. I mean, that's a life lesson, not just for music. On Sunday morning, viewers quickly switched to the afternoons. It's like that. I can barely go catch it. Something like how I feel when you.
