I Found A Super Rare Cast Iron Skillet at Estate Sale - Did I Buy It? Cast Iron Haul Results!

May 30, 2020
Hey guys Lady Liberty Stacker, it's Friday October 18, 2019 and in this video I want to show you a couple of finds I made at an

estate

sale

and the story behind one of these is really a

rare

piece and was very lucky. to find it, so there is an interesting story behind it. I also wanted to give you an update on the pans I bought around Labor Day weekend and remember I went on that

haul

and bought all that

cast

iron

. Well, this is the result. It's number two, it's actually closer to the size of a number three frying pan, this is the one made in Taiwan.

I haven't cooked with it yet, but it now has three layers of seasoning and this is what it looks like on the cooking surface. very very smooth it has some mill work in fact it doesn't look like a bad pan now it has a bit of abuse on the back. I'm not sure how old it is, probably needs to do some research on it's an eight and a half inch pan and hmm that's weird, they call it an eight and a half inch pan and Rinna's nut is maybe a six, yeah , it's six and a half inches okay so that's the one that's made in Taiwan and I pick it up for my own use so we'll go ahead and leave that here and then the next one is this one that I bought at an antique store nearby from Erie PA and this is the one that gave me so many cleaning fits I had to go back and forth between the live tank between the vinegar soap and just a note about when you do it it will work but you have to be patient and when you take it out you have to rinse it very, very well. before it goes into vinegar once it comes out of the vinegar you will wash it you can use soap at this stage of the game you are cleaning it you have to remove all that vinegar and all the old carbon and if you think that what is left underneath needs to be softened again put it again in bleach, it will soften what's left and then put it back in vinegar, but make sure to rinse very well every time you use gloves, you want to keep your hands safe and the hands you know careful.

More Interesting Facts About,

It cleans when you do that, so this was the pan that gave me such a hard road. I didn't know it had a lot of rust, but I didn't know if there was fire damage or not, you can see some of the carbon that wasn't removed was very stubborn, but you can see it looks a lot better, so that's what it looks like, four or five coats of seasoning, now we're going to turn it over and I sanded the surface a little bit to smooth it out a little bit, but yeah, it's very smooth. I think it would be a good pot to cook in as it retains seasoning so you see fire damaged pans don't retain seasoning but they do. it's the Wagner, we're number eight, so I would go ahead and leave that, let me see, I'll go ahead and put it here and then the next one is this one that I took, I think I had it a little bit earlier. a garage

sale

I think it was now that I'm trying to become a member when I got this it was if it wasn't Labor Day it was a garage sale in town.

I showed it in a recent video, although this is the one with a ghost in it. mark it, you can see that Wagner's W looks like that W and they wanted to do this with the Wagner mold. They are both eights. You can see the handle on this one unmarked here, you can see the handle on this one marked and I've never

found

one like this, so it's pretty weird that this one has a little warping, but it's really very well made. This one that gave me such a difficult path to follow doesn't have the milling. the frying pan here does, so it's a pretty interesting specimen, look it's just shiny, it tends to spin a little bit, but there it is, you can see that very smooth surface, very shiny, you can see the joinery all over it and it was from the mold there other than I don't know if they milled the one on the right, but they certainly did on this one, so when I paid the five bucks for this one, I paid a little too much.

There were about twenty-two and one antique store. I thought I was getting a bargain because I didn't see all the rust underneath but anyway once it's completely flat there is no spin it moves my hot pad all the way if you push the handle it has no spin so it would be a good one kitchen, let me keep it, but I think I can sell it. I'm not sure this one here has a bit of a twist to it, but it was cleaned up. really good, it also has about four or five layers of seasoning and it's nice and bright.
I think the more layers they have, the longer you bake them, the quicker you'll get the desired effect, I'm not sure what's wrong with my lens there and then finally, this is the huge unmarked one, but it's a Wagner, that's it maker's mark, this is a number 10, their 11 3/4 inch pans have the same font, there are no ghost marks on this, it is just an unmarked Wagner, but there are telltale signs of Wagner. You've got the sidewall with the rim there and then you flip it over and you've got the poor sports pretty defined, not as big as the Griswold or the aerated versions, but you see the milling where you see this one had a lot of it. of use, but I finished it with that, it's about three three layers of seasoning.
I'm probably going to go back to a fourth, fourth or fifth, I think to make it look the way I want, I'm probably going to sell it. This one and this one were purchased for about $10 but I'm going to give it a fourth layer of seasoning. This is a Wagner number ten that you can see on the handle and we go ahead and put it back in and it's nice the bigger it is. they are more valuable only for the time and effort and the fact is that the larger ones don't seem to survive while the smaller ones like number three here, well, now in four, which I

found

at the

estate

sale. sale I went there and I got there a couple hours early because they had a bunch of pans right in the basement area and I asked as soon as I got there, I was number three to get in and I got there early because I wanted to get priority on this, those pans , I said where are those pans and he said downstairs, I went down, I checked that one was number one, it was actually number 12, it was a little bigger than this, but it was an unmarked Wagner and there was a concrete floor on the basement and I checked it and it was actually a spinner and they wanted $25 for it.
I don't believe it. They had a little frying pan like this, but it was Griswald with the big Griswold logo and they won 235 for it. and I'm thinking, wow, these prices are high and then they had two other nondescript pans and I don't need any more nondescript pans to deal with right now, so I started looking for other things I could pick up. I found some other things I won't go into them in the video here I get into old paper cookbooks etc. but here I found these in the corner of the kitchen. I just left the price here so you could see it and it's not bad. price for what it is, it's actually pretty dirty, but I want to throw it out, I want to get it out there because what I'm doing in the video now is stupid and it's number five, it has the heat ring inserted.
I have one of the oldest. I have one like that. It's probably the old mountain. I believe it's called. They are not the Red Mountain, but the old mountain. I don't remember exactly something. The series of mountains makes it a bit. More valuable made in the 30's and 40's, but you can see all the dirt that got into this, so we definitely need to smooth it out in a light tank. There's some rest here that we can see on camera that I couldn't. to see before, hopefully, we can remove it in the vinegar bath, it is patience back and forth.
I thought about picking it up just so I wouldn't have anything but another one to redo and once it looks great we'll probably end up giving it away. and/or sell it, so here we go, it was a nice fine, but it doesn't mean anything really weird, but I can't find it. BSN is so much in my area now that this one was also at the bottom of the pile. several other cheap frying pans, they are modern, worthless and I found this one priced at 12 and you see the handle and it looks like a number looks like an 8, but it's hard to notice a lot of scabs, there is a teardrop shaped handle that doesn't look like the A Wagner does not like the Wagner and then the well-defined pouring spouts are very thin, although very thin compared to the B SNR.
It's another good comparison. We'll put a Wagner next to it. Look at the Wagner. Watch this. Okay, so we have that one now. let's flip it the other way, this is an old Erie pan and no, it doesn't have any twist, maybe a little bit of warping here, but in this pan from my research you got the quotes about Erie. you have a star maker mark you have a number 8 on the pan with no number and OB for it and it looks like it could also be a maker mark it's hard to tell because it needs to be removed it has the initial heat ring so this It's a pre-Griswold Erie, it's a Griswold, but it's when they weren't called Griswolds, it's a pre-Griswold Erie made by the same Griswold company from 1870 to 18, darling, on Ceres number two, it has the same definitive handling as you can see there and twelve dollars.
I thought you know what I'm going to risk to see how it cleans because if this cleans up really well, there were a couple that were sold at auction on eBay. for a hundred and sixty-three, one that sold for close to two hundred, buy it now, there's one on Etsy right now for two hundred and forty dollars, so this was the score, the score, the score, we'll see how it turned out, but let's get into it . We also need to soak the light tank. It's starting to get hot today, so why does it work better when it's hot?
We'll see how it goes guys, but I wanted to at least give you an overview. This is extremely

rare

, extremely rare. the one with the spider logo in the center is even rarer. I've seen them sell for $400 up to probably 1500. They think the prices are crazy, so anyway it's very light, very easy to use, it's just amazing, so I'm going to have a hard time. time to sell it but i went there for my business so we'll see what happens well guys this is creepy it's a psnr number five this is an unmarked number ten wagner with three layers of seasoning layers this is a go unchecked.
The number two Wagner number eight pan from Taiwan for my collection and a number eight Wagner that is marked just had some issues, but you probably know we'll see. I'll keep this one and sell it or vice versa. I'm not sure because I can always use a number eight. Well, guys, I've talked enough. I appreciate you seeing me.
