Apr 08, 2024
Hello everyone, welcome back to the

pieces

of

furniture

throughout the

month

of December and I'll tell you exactly how I

made

them in

this

video, we'll go over the process and the profits, let's get into it on the first day of litmus. I

flipped

this beat-up dresser I found at Goodwill for $45 overseas. What I did was take out the hardware and gave it a good cleaning.

This is really important to make sure you get all that dust and dirt off the surface and then I took my surf prep sander with some 80 grit sandpaper and removed the original finish, then I started cutting out the lattice

to frame each drawer. I found a curtain at Goodwill and repurposed it into drawer fronts. I painted it. and cut it to size to glue to the fronts while it dried. I went ahead and painted the entire dresser with boss, which is a stain blocking primer, since this piece was definitely going to bleed through, then I went ahead and cut out the curtain. custom and did a paint wash on the lattice pieces to remove some of the yellowing usually found in pine wood.

More Interesting Facts About,

i flipped 12 pieces of furniture in 1 month this is how much i made...

I washed it with Dixie Bell paint company's burlap color and then cleaned it. I did this for the top and sides of the dresser, after gluing the curtain to the front of the drawers I used a nailer to attach the lattice and filled the holes with wood filler in a foreign natural color. I used a satin top coat to protect the surface of the entire dresser including the drawer fronts to make sure they were also protected I sanded the wood filler and then used my hardware jig to drill new holes for the hardware in the drawers.

I got some hardware on Amazon and then put it together and here is the end result for this dresser. I had originally seen a picture of a dresser online that could be bought for eighteen hundred dollars and I really wasn't willing to pay that

much

and my whole philosophy is that if you can do it for cheaper, why not try it? I was able to spend a hundred and twenty dollars total, including the dresser and all the materials, to make and recreate the same very similar look of the same dresser and I was able to do it for 120 dollars and then I was able to sell that dresser. and in fact my best friend was the one who ended up buying it.

I sold it for five hundred and fifty dollars giving me a total profit of four hundred and thirty dollars. The second day of flipmas I grabbed these green chairs I found at Goodwill for fifteen dollars each. I wanted to go ahead and rip off my skirts because those legs underneath are dying to be revealed. I used my scissors and pliers to tear off that skirt. This is one of the quickest slips I've ever encountered on a velvet chair. what you can find is that it is in good condition, definitely pick it up, remove the skirt, clean it and sell it after tearing the skirts off of both chairs.
I took my little green Bissell vacuum and cleaned all the upholstery. This is really an important step in these changes because you need to be safe and remove all that dust from the surface of those overseas chairs. It is also important to include this in your listing when selling them that way the new owner knows what will happen. To get them really nice and clean after those chairs finished drying, it was time to list them on Facebook Marketplace and the same day I listed them, someone was interested, they came that same day and I was able to sell these chairs for three hundred dollars, like this That's a total profit of $270 for really minimal work.
It took me about two hours to flip those two chairs. It's a pretty good return on investment, if you ask me, on the third day of flipmas I picked up this 60's chest of drawers that I had bought several. Months ago on Facebook Marketplace I cleaned the surface of the drawers to remove all the dust and make sure the paint adhered well to the surface. This is one of the most important steps in flipping furniture. Also make sure you get inside the drawer. dresser I also marked the drawers so I could put them back in their respective places once everything was painted.
I grabbed my surf prep sander and started sanding with the professional foam pads that can contour any curvature you may have in your Furniture, all information is below in the description of any of the products I mentioned today. I sanded the top of the dresser because for this piece I went for a dipped furniture look, meaning I needed to tape the top. and then I used a top coat to make sure I got a very precise line. I used the color Wilderness in the opulent all-in-one formula of the Lily Moon paints. This painting is just a dream and if you haven't tried it, be sure to try it very soon, stick around because there will be a gift at the end.
I also sanded the top three drawers down to raw wood and then gave the rest of the painted areas one more coat of this deep emerald green. I removed the tape and looked. on that sharp line, this is exactly why you want to put that top coat on before you paint anything against some masking tape, then I put the drawers back in and covered the raw wood areas so no oil would seep through and Here is the final result. I really liked this dresser. I really liked the submerged look, but there have been a lot of mixed feelings both here on YouTube and on my Instagram.
We posted a reel on there and you know, okay, people have different tastes. of furniture, but apparently my market is not really in their favor. I currently have them listed at 450 on Facebook Marketplace, so I'll probably lower the price maybe in a few weeks or so, but I also want to know your opinion, how would you change it? the look of this dresser without doing

much

more work. Should I paint it all over again? Should I add some furniture legs? I don't really want to add hardware because I think there's already a lot going on on the front of the dresser, but I would.
I would love to know your opinion Below in the comments of the fourth day of flipmas. I grabbed this French provincial dresser from my storage unit and brought it home to go straight to work. I love French Provincial Dress Officers so when I found this one on Facebook. Marketplace and was right down the road. I had to buy it for 75 dollars. I removed all the hardware and set it aside for later because I like to keep the hardware on these French Provincial pieces original. This is just part of the look of these. types of vanities I cleaned the entire vanity with Dixie Belle's White Lightning Cleaner, this is a degreaser and just removes all that dust, dirt and grime from the surface, then since this was a beginner friendly flip I grabbed my prep pad for surfing and I simply hand sanded the surface of the entire dresser, you don't always need to have a big honking sander, sometimes all you need is a brief handstand to roughen the surface.
I removed all the drawers and also cleaned the inside and behind them, then I took Dixie Bell silk paint in the color Black Sands and painted on the first coat. I'm using the Dixie Bell Scarlet brush which actually fits in your hand and the silk paint is so easy to work with when you use silk paint. I want to make sure you're not going over the same spot with the paint over and over too many times or else it won't level out like it's supposed to. I went ahead and lightly sanded the surface where I had painted.
Just to remove any texture, I then applied a second coat with the same color for full coverage and this paint has a built-in top coat so I didn't have to worry about doing that. I grabbed the hardware and used Dixie gold wax. Hood to renew the hardware. I put all the drawers back and here is the final result. I am very satisfied with the result of this French provincial chest of drawers, as I said at the beginning of this tour. I love French provincial dressers, you can literally walk in. any color and it looks great, hasn't had any issues yet, but I have it listed at 450 on Facebook Marketplace so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that now that the holiday season is over I'll get some showings on that dresser. because I don't want it to stay in my storage unit for much longer.
I think someone really needs it in their home. Let me know what you think of that dresser. Down in the comments also on the fifth day of flipmas. I

flipped

these really trashed dressers. I got them for free from a follower and they needed a little cleaning, so the first thing I did was remove the hardware and got straight to cleaning. I used Dixie Bell's White Lightning to go deeper into the surface and cleaned up all the dirt and grime, these were used for a kids craft room so there were also a lot of paint splatters all over the surface.
I took my surf prep sander and removed the top of the dressers as there were several indentations. and the finish of the furniture was really failing. I took my wood filler and filled the gaps in the veneer and then taped around the drawers where I didn't want any black paint left, then primed with Dixie Belle boss which is a stain blocker and Sanded the wood filler on the bases of the dresser. I also printed the dresser bases to block any bleeding that might occur. I painted with Dixie Bell silk paint in the anchor color and also painted the drawers with anchor.
After painting the drawers, I sanded the legs down to raw wood, gave the dresser bases one more coat of black, and then tried saving the wood in the middle of the drawers, but in the end you'll see that it really just didn't work the way I expected, I was planning on staining the middle of the drawers, but in the end they just looked like soccer balls. I dyed the legs with Lily Moon's Smoky Gel Stain Tennessee Whiskey color. I also stained the drawers, put the legs back on and then put the drawers in the dresser, this is where I thought "OMG those footballs on the front of the drawers are not right so I went ahead and painted them black to match the rest of the On the drawers, I sprayed the hardware gold and let it dry, then replaced the original hardware and had to drill a couple of new holes for the bottom drawers since the original pieces were missing. the end result.
Foreigners, guys, I'm very excited about the The way they turned out, I think they definitely went from the bin to the treasure and I listed them on Facebook Marketplace for $750 for the pair. I asked someone to contact me. Kansas City and they said, you know, I don't know, this might be a long shot, but how would you feel about making a delivery? So I talked to Neiman and we ended up delivering this set for an extra $250 to Kansas City, which is. only two and a half hours from us, so not too bad. On one trip, we just went on a day trip, I sold them for a total of a thousand dollars and after getting them for free from a follower and spending some time and materials on it, and then also the round trip we spent about 150 . dollars, which gave us a total profit of eight hundred and fifty dollars on the sixth day of flipmas.
I bought this tall dresser from Goodwill for sixty dollars. I wanted to see if white furniture was still in style, so I got to work and removed the hardware. Then I cleaned the drawers with my old Dawn dish soap and dried the surface as well. I took my surf prep sander with 120 grit and roughened the surface of the entire dresser so the paint could really adhere to the weird dust that was created and got out my tent and my Wagner sprayer to spray the first coat of primer for primer. I used the Dixie Belle white boss.
This is a stain blocking primer and will really help ensure it doesn't bleed from there. There were some spaces that I had sanded down to raw wood. Sprayers make the process much faster, so definitely check the description for more information on the sprayer. The next day, once it was dry, I took my surf prep pad and smoothed it out where it was. I had primed both coats of primer then used Dixie Bell silk paint in the color salt water which is just a bright white and then sprayed this too, this took two coats for full coverage so in total we got about four coats of primer. and painting in this comfortable white paint will definitely require more applications than other colors that I taped on top so I can do my classic look on top here, which is the smoke glaze, so I used Baja Gray in the paint of coated silk. from Dixie Bell and then while it dried I went ahead and

made

sure to paint the edges of the drawers that I had missed the first time outside.
I grabbed my smokey polish, painted it on top, and cleaned it with a lint-free cleaner. I love the wayin that this smoky polish makes the top look. I re-attached the hardware to each drawer and here is the final result. When I painted this dresser, I was trying to see if white furniture is still in style and apparently it's going out of style. Well, at least in my market many of you said that you still sell white furniture like hotcakes, which is great, so maybe do a little experiment in your area. Mine is still listed on Facebook Marketplace for $410, so again I may be dropping the price. price here in a couple of weeks or you could wait a little longer since the holidays are over, we'll see if you're interested in any of the profits on the pieces I haven't sold yet, be sure to stop by. to Instagram and we will inform you there in real time when we sell everything on the seventh day of flipmas.
I put together some furniture from Ikea, there were two nightstands and then the Ikea chest of drawers. This took about four and a half hours of assembly, but once. It was already assembled. I was ready to get to work. This is solid pine furniture, so I took my sander and smoothed the surface a little so the paint would really adhere well. I cut the wallpaper I was going to put on the front of the drawers to size and then put it on the outside, it was prepasted wallpaper so I threw it in a bucket of water and then glued it to the front of each drawer.
It was a bit of a tedious job, but once I got the hang of it it was pretty simple, they ended up having to dry overnight. it takes a little time but it's definitely necessary while they dried, I taped the inside of the dresser and prepped the areas that were going to be painted with Lily Moon's Eclipse primer again. This is raw wood so I wanted to make sure there were no stains. would come off as that can happen from the tannins in the wood thanks once the wallpaper was dry the next day I took my sander and simply trimmed off the extra wallpaper that was hanging over the edge of each drawer then grabbed my sprayer and I used Lily Moon's Cades Cove color in their opulent all-in-one paint line.
I used my Wagner spray which really allowed me to get great coverage and a very smooth finish. I needed two coats of this green and in between coats I sanded the flat surfaces very lightly so I could smooth everything out. I applied a water-based gel stain to the top and legs of the dresser and nightstands, that way I was able to remove some of the yellow tones. of the pine, but I wanted to keep it a natural color, so I used the natural cork color in Smoky Gel Stain by Lily Moon and drilled some holes for the new hardware I found on Amazon and then put in all the drawers and attached the new hardware.
Here is the end result. I couldn't be happier with the way this set turned out. This was definitely a passion project, so I wasn't really looking to make a lot of money with this set once I sold it on Facebook Marketplace. In total, the furniture cost me about five hundred dollars and all the materials added up to about 50. So after being at 550 I ended up selling the entire set for 725 dollars, giving me a total profit of 175 dollars on the eighth day. From flipmas, I picked up this Lane Cedar Chest for 35 on Facebook Marketplace and cleaned the surface to remove any grease or grime, then took my surf prep sander and sanded the top down to raw wood with a grit sandpaper 80.
I removed the base of the Cedar Chest using my Ryobi electric screwdriver and then removed the rest of the way. I had a look in mind that didn't include this outdated foundation. I filled the holes in the original hardware with Bondo and then started cutting them out. molding pieces I was going to place in front of the odd chest once I cut all the pieces I went to attach some new legs to the bottom of the cedar chest to raise it off the ground just a little. I got these legs on Amazon and installed the brackets for the four legs in the corners.
If you are interested in knowing exactly how I installed these legs, be sure to check out the link in the description to the original playlist containing the original video, it was time to sand. Return the Bondo and glue on the trim pieces which I also used my nailer for to get a little extra adhesion. I sanded the wood filler I had used to fill the nailer holes and then attached one. More piece of molding around the bottom edge here it is before I painted it and then of course I taped the cedar so there was no paint on the edges.
I used Lily Moon Eclipse Primer in white just to make sure I wouldn't get any stains since it was going to be a lighter color. So I took Ivory Coast from their opulent paint line and whitewashed the top of the cedar chest. I really liked how this lightened the wood, but you could still see it. the wood grain needed to fill the hardware holes a little more and then I sanded the Bondo one more time and primed one more time. Last but not least, I painted the entire chest with Ivory Coast once again, all the information.
Products will be listed below in the description. Foreign coats from the Ivory Coast I removed the tape and looked at that sharp line. I replaced the top cover and hinges and then also went ahead and removed the latch locking mechanism as those have been recalled for safety reasons. Here is a final result. I love this cedar chest and think it was really modernized by simply lightening the color of the wood and also raising it up off the ground a bit. I sold this piece on Facebook Marketplace. Within hours of listing it for $225, after spending about eighty dollars on this chest and all the materials, I was able to make a total profit of $145 on the ninth day of flipmas.
I bought this table at a thrift store for only fifteen. dollars was pretty worn out and definitely needed some love. I wasn't 100 percent on the type of table it was, but I thought it could use a little makeover. I started by cleaning the surface with simple green and removed all the dust and dirt, then took my surf prep sander with 80 grit and removed the bad finish on the table top. It was a little time consuming, but the end result was worth it. I decided I was going to turn this into a cafe. table as it was quite uncomfortable with the height it currently was, so I went ahead and cut 10 inches off the legs using my Ryobi circular saw.
It was the perfect height after cutting off the legs, so I decided I wanted to go full length. Send remove finish from entire table. I used 80 grit sandpaper for this job, once I removed all the original finish I used Lily Moon's Saddle Up color in Smoky Gel Stain, sprayed it with water first and then added the saddle. I then lifted Gel Stain and then wiped it with a lint-free cloth. I did this on the legs, drawer fronts, and table sides for the table top. I used the white oak barrel color and did the same process. I like the contrast that the top has on the bottom.
I taped the reed area to the drawer fronts and then painted it with Dixie Bell sand stick and here's a finished look. I really love how this table turned out and I'm so glad I decided to cut off those legs like you suggested on Instagram. I had this listed on Facebook Marketplace for $225 and after a few days of being listed I ended up selling it for full price, giving me a grand total. two hundred dollar profit on the tenth day of flipmas I found this mid century modern dresser at Goodwill for thirty dollars, it was really beat up and definitely needed some work so I got to work and removed the hardware from the dresser , then I sprayed it with simple green and wiped it down.
I simply removed all the dirt and dust so I was ready to complete the makeover. I sprayed qcs which is a stripper in the top drawer to remove furniture finish I really like this stripper for certain pieces and it doesn't have harsh chemicals so you don't even have to use a mask and you can use it indoors then the Bottom drawer slide needed some attention. I removed it with the large screwdriver and then replaced it with a drawer slide I found on Amazon. I used some wood glue and my nail gun and the drawer looked like new.
I removed some of the stickers and sanded the finish. For the bottom three drawers, I just used 120 grit and it seemed to work fine. I also sanded the rest of the dresser and removed the legs as I would be removing those as well after spraying another coat. from qcs in the top drawer I was able to remove that finish and it looked great, then I used Lily Moon's Ocean Shore color, the opulent all in one paint line, this paint goes on very smooth and has virtually no brush. scuff marks once the coat was on and drying I took my 80 grit sandpaper and sanded the legs back as they were pretty scuffed then I used Tennessee whiskey gel stain and gave those legs a new color.
I also stained the top drawer a little. To get the legs to match, I sanded some of the spots I had filled with wood filler and then applied a second coat of Ocean Shore. Each drawer had the same contact paper, so I removed it and ended up sticky. the bottom of the drawer, so I took my sander and sanded down all the sticky bits so it was all nice and fresh. I reattached the legs and also put in new hardware and here is the final result, it was a very simple turn that only took me three or four hours to complete in case you were wondering, because I received a lot of comments on the original video.
The top drawer is very easy to open even though it has no handle, all you have to do is slide it. your fingers underneath and there's a little bit of space and you just pull it out if it was supposed to have hardware. I definitely would have put it in, but there were no original hardware holes so I didn't put any hardware in there. I listed that piece on Facebook Marketplace for three hundred dollars and that same day I ended up selling it for the full selling price of three hundred dollars and after the cost of the material and the cost of the dresser I made a total profit of $255.
On the 11th of Flipmas, I grabbed this dresser that I bought for a hundred dollars on Facebook Marketplace. It was in pretty good shape, but really needed some work. I got to work removing the hardware and labeling each drawer so I couldn't mix them up when I put them back later, then I cleaned the entire surface and interior of the dresser using plain green to remove all the dirt, grease and grime, then rinsed too and removed some of the coating that was peeling off the side. I filled the gaps with Bondo, which is a two-part epoxy and is a hardening substance, so once you apply it it will harden in a matter of minutes.
You have to work a little fast while it hardens. I worked on one of the drawer slides that was giving me some problems. I replaced the slide and slide to make the drawer work well out of the original hardware with some Bondo as well and then the Bondo on the dresser had dried and hardened. very good, so I grabbed my surf prep sander and sanded it smooth. Bondo will usually need a couple of coats, so I applied one more coat before sanding the hardware holes and sanding the finish of the drawers on the outside as well once everything was sanded.
As for Bondo, I sanded the entire surface of the dresser and cleaned the dust. I prepared the dresser to block any bleeding. I made two layers, the first was white and the second was gray. Thanks, then I wrapped the drawers. in plastic and I painted the base of the dresser with the Iceberg green color of Lily Moon paint. It's a nice soft green that I love. Now it's time to pour it. I poured six different colors of Lily Moon paint and thinned them out a bit. a little bit with a little bit of water and then decided to pour them directly onto the drawer fronts in any random order.
I took my hair dryer on a cool setting and blew out the paint, I just let it do its own thing adding colors where I thought I needed to dry this for about 24 hours before removing the plastic and applying a second coat of Iceberg Green on the base of the dresser into the middle three drawers, then I sanded the edges of the drawers so they could slide. inside and out very well, I drilled new hardware holes for all the drawers and covered them everywhere with satin clear coat. I ended up choosing hardware piece number three and I really love the way they enhance the look of this piece after all.
It was attached and reassembled here is the final result, this is by far my favorite flip to date. I'm not kidding, this one definitely has a special place in my heart and I really hope someone in my market makes it very soon. I also have the same feelings about this dresser. I've had it listed for about a week and the holiday season is over, so I'm hoping now that the holidays are over again I'll be able to sell this dresser I listed. 175 dollars of work in thedresser, so I have it listed for nine hundred dollars on Facebook Marketplace, so I'll let you know when it sells and for how much, on the 12th of flipmas, I bought this orange oak dining set from Facebook.
Marketplace for sixty dollars I cleaned the top of the table and chairs and then sanded the top of the table. I sanded all that orange finish because it's pretty dated and I personally don't like that wood tone. I used 80 grit to sand the finish and then smoothed it once more with 120 grit. I cleaned the chairs and then sanded the surface with a foam abrasive pad and my surf prep sander so I could roughen it up. I raise the surface of the chairs and the paint will adhere very well. I also did this on the base of the table.
Just an ambitious proletarian wondering what it means. I set up my Wagner tent and used Dixie Bell's Deep Sea color in her silk. Mineral paint line to cover all surfaces except the table. I ended up applying two full coats and it turned out absolutely flawless. I will never stop using my sprayer when it comes to painting tables and chairs if you haven't invested in a sprayer. I highly recommend doing it now and you can learn how to do it. I have several beginner sprayer videos for you, so check out my channel to see them. I taped the top of the table so it wouldn't turn blue.
I painted over it and then sprayed the table base for the table top as well. I mixed up a couple of Lily Moon's Smoky gel stains, which are water-based stains. I prefer them to oil-based stains. I use natural cork and saddle. to complement each other and create some depth with the darker color I really wanted to remove a little more of that yellowish-orange tone from the wood so I first applied the natural cork and then the chair with a brush and wiped it off with a clean cloth. fluff, after letting it dry, I sprayed it on top. coated with a satin clear coat I did three coats total of the top coat so that way they could get the most protection possible since it's going to be in someone's house and it's going to be a high traffic place, here's the end result somewhat larger. that I until you wish it were true and I am so excited because I was able to donate this table to a family in need this holiday season.
I connected with a local organization that had a family already in need of a dining set, future Lauren here. We interrupt her show because, as you can see, we still have the dining set here.
