I Finally Got a New Ford Maverick and Here's What I Really Think of It

May 22, 2024
Rev your engines, today I am going to talk about the Ford Maverick, not the car, the truck, they are just starting to roll them out and as usual I will tell you the truth, this is not some Dealer demo they sent and paid me money to say all kinds of wonderful things about them. This is a real guy in Virginia who bought it and we're going to get the truth, not lies from some company, but the truth about me reviewing it and he tells his experience so far if you get the base model it's cheaper than a Model T Ford when you add in today's inflation, a model T Ford will cost around 25 thousand dollars and they start at 20.
i finally got a new ford maverick and here s what i really think of it
They are definitely lower priced, they are made in Mexico. They are not full frame, they are unibody construction, as are many of the smaller vehicles today, almost all SUVs today are unibody, they are not body on frame, now I must say they are a nice truck. an xlt, this is a high-end model, this is an all-wheel drive version that most people will like for a reason: it's a full-time all-wheel drive system with computers, so you'll get the best handling now, Interestingly, cheaper Mavericks only have front-wheel drive and you would

think

that front-wheel drive pickup trucks are all rear-wheel drive.

More Interesting Facts About,

i finally got a new ford maverick and here s what i really think of it...

No, his theory is completely different. Gasoline modifications much better with front wheel drive than with front wheel drive. It's more efficient. t

here

is less power loss between the transmission and the wheels and two handle much better, you get an average rear wheel drive pickup truck, they turn all over the place, especially on snowy and wet roads, front wheel drive is better, these things

really

handle a Much better with front wheel drive only and of course this is all wheel drive so it handles even better now that the choice is up to you. Want to spend more on all-wheel drive?
i finally got a new ford maverick and here s what i really think of it
Are you happy with front-wheel drive? You are one of those guys who goes to the forest in the country on dirt and mud roads, maybe you live w

here

it snows and sleets a lot. All-wheel drive will be more for you. All-wheel drive. Front-wheel drive. It doesn't matter in the snow, the most important thing is your tires, if you are

really

going to snow, you have to get rid of these tires and put them more aggressive, there are no tires, they are all old tires, continental tires are good tires, but realize. Another thing, let's say you brought the front wheel drive version, you can get away with buying front wheel drive snow tires and drive them perfectly fine if you have an all wheel drive system, all four wheels must have the exact same tires.
i finally got a new ford maverick and here s what i really think of it
Due to the design of the all-wheel drive system or it will wear out faster if you are considering all-wheel drive,

think

that you should also buy four snow tires in the winter, where you could get away with just snow tires on the front, if you choose Because of front-wheel drive, it will be much cheaper in the long run with front-wheel drive. Now these things come with a bunch of different engines, but this is the XLT, so for some strange reason you have to pull it twice, I know, maybe. They think the clientele is stupid and they're going to pull it driving down the road, so they have to do it twice right,

what

ever it is, it's a four-cylinder engine and, as you can see, there's a high-pressure pump here , it is an ecoboost engine. gasoline direct injection produces some decent horsepower now it does not produce the combined 191 horsepower if you had purchased the hybrid version because it has a gasoline engine and an electric motor one generates 191 horsepower and one motor generates 250 horsepower of strength. a lot more horsepower, that's where you have to decide

what

you want to buy: do you want a conventional four-cylinder engine with 250 horsepower or do you want a hybrid that has an Atkinson cycle engine that is more complex, no one knows. how to work with them and an electric motor that is much more complex to obtain a total of 191 horsepower.
Honestly, I would probably choose this engine. You'll get better gas mileage from the hybrid, of course, averaging over 30 miles per hour. gallon, this particular one on the trip he said he got about 25 miles per gallon, not bad for a truck that has 250 horsepower. You know there is nothing wrong with that, but if you are the person who consumes more fuel, then "I would like to go for the hybrid version because you will get better gasoline modifications with the hybrid. There is no doubt that now, as it stands today, at least at the list price, you would pay $2,000 2,500 more for the hybrid than you would, but let's face it, it's a truck Americans want a little power in their trucks Most people will probably be a lot.
You'd be happier with a 250 horsepower and you'll lose a little bit of gas mileage because you're going to be able to pull more realistically in the real world, you know ratings don't mean anything, you can rate things all the way. Possible ways with 250 horsepower, you'll be able to haul more and pull more, that's how it is in the real world the real world is pretty well designed, it's easy to work there are the spark plugs, there's the fuel pump, there's a lot of room to. work if you need to do something in the future and as you can see when we go underneath we can't really see anything because it has all this plastic wrap but it's all wheel drive there's the driveshaft for the front and when we go to the At the rear is the differential and you can see that there is a lot of Ford technology in this, we have a lot of aluminum parts. for less weight, it also has a decent suspension system in the rear, it is modernized, it is not just a plain old solid axle, it is independent suspension and a CV axle that comes out from both sides, it is not rough and turns like an axle old solid that goes straight to the wheels they don't move very well and you can see, like I said, it's a unibody construction, it's a single piece welded together, kind of like a frame, you know, but it's all connected and welded together, no in both and yes.
Your truck lovers everywhere still have a spare tire (a real spare tire, not a baby spare tire), something you can actually use in an emergency. It's a low priced truck, but it still has discs in the rear and discs in the front, they have a reasonable amount. of space with four doors it's a smart man it has a fire extinguisher here plenty of space now it's an economy car so it doesn't have the old Ford sliding window you know you'd have to add that extra yourself it started above it's a little shorter than me so now they are self driving cars so you have a manual slider what the heck it works as good as anything else and it doesn't break either so check it out it actually has a key.
I like keys. They are harder to steal, easier to work on, sure it has a smaller screen but it is a budget vehicle and it still has a lot of crazy stuff on it, none of these electronic transmissions but what can you do? This is how they make them today. Well, first we have Remove the parking brake because they are electronic parking brakes. I'm not a fan of this either, but the first thing I notice is that I got it going. It doesn't shake at all. It has a pretty good rearview camera. It's going to stop me from running to the neighbor's mailbox again, put it back in gear and take off.
The first thing you notice is a small truck, but it is reasonably high in the air and yes, they are made in Mexico, but on this particular one I have to say that I am quite impressed by the quality because when we take a turn here I don't hear any creaks or rattles and it actually drives pretty smooth. I've read all about these, but this is the first one I've driven and I have to do it. I say it handles much better than any small truck I've ever been in. This is an all-wheel drive version that is set up to handle pretty well, but from what I read about the front-wheel drive ones, they handle pretty well too.
There is one with front wheel drive. Hey, I'd like to compare it. This is the Ford two-liter four-cylinder. He's been making it for quite some time. We approach the stop sign. Let's stop. It stops perfectly well. There is no problem, we will take you to the country where the trucks belong, step on the accelerator, you have a truck with an ecoboost engine, now yes, it will change a little strange, these transmissions are always a little late, that's how they are, but let's get to our little girl drag race here ready, we have it in normal conditions, come on, it's starting to go pretty well, it's not a racing truck, but hey, it's all-wheel drive and all-wheel drive vehicles are not made to take off and stuff.
They are made for control and handling, quite well designed, I must say for a small truck, it is one of the best handling ones I have tested, as you can see here, this particular one has 3,600 miles, it is built now and as a position that impresses me a little, nobody knows what is going to happen with these things over time because they just came out, they realize that and everyone made Mexico realize that too. I have seen Toyota Tacomas that were built in Mexico. They were 12 years old, had 250,000 miles on them and still ran like clockwork so you never know, it actually handles pretty well and rides on this bumpy road, it rides pretty smooth for a small truck, they have the suspension this.
Everything worked out pretty well here comes some corners we'll try them out we'll speed up a bit even though we're supposed to slow down and see how it handles in the corners I have to say you know it's not particularly on or under dry pavement I wish it would It's pouring rain now so we can see what it does in the pouring rain. I would assume it would run pretty well and again could be a four cylinder truck, but hey, slam on the brakes. to shut down I don't like the auto shut off but they do it to save fuel it's not a fan it's not a fan I'll step on the accelerator it starts itself again I just find that bothers me because contrary to what someone says , if you keep starting and stopping the engine you are going to wear things out the battery will wear out the starter motor will wear out the engine bearings which will wear out the timing chain wearing out is not a smart idea I don't like that start and stop technology but a lot of companies are looking for that to get epa ratings blah blah blah so what can you do about it?
I just don't like it. I'm not a fan of new vehicles made from scratch because who knows what kind of problems. They will have it, but I have to say it has some good designs. It has a nice powerful engine. It has decent gas mileage for a truck. Drove about 25 miles per gallon from Virginia to Tennessee. It has enough speed and is very sensitive. Driving for a small truck, that's what so far, suspension and handling, let's just hope it doesn't end up like the mid-engine Corvettes that I reviewed and said, boy, these are cool cars, but you know, it's a new car. .
Let's see if they have any problems, so the wheels were breaking and the automatic transmissions were broken on all those corvettes and they are trying to fix them all on the positive side of the Ford transmission, which has been out of business for a while, so that's not it's new to the suspension on the body, i think they fixed it pretty well, i don't see why the bushings would break and the wheels would fall off or anything else, it looks solid, it did that look, i have to say it was once i got on it and I drove it, I'm impressed, you have to realize it's a cheap truck.
When you stop with the accelerator, it sounds more like a boat engine, it doesn't make big noises, it's an economical truck, although I guess the Americans will start ripping out the exhaust systems. and put louder ones, Americans always like to do that kind of thing, I mean, actually, with my Triumph motorcycle, the truth is that when I bought it, it was from 2011, it sounded like a lawn mower because it had the mufflers complete, so in the store where I bought it I said. Hey, about a used one, I said. I see the new one has those short little mufflers.
Take them off and put them in this used one. I'll buy it, so he won't. I bought it and I like the sound. You can always modify that kind of thing if you want, if you like it, it's an ecoboost engine, the purity of your oil is the most important thing. You want to change your oil a lot in one of these interesting things. See, they want these things to last, so they suggest 5w30. Now they weren't stupid with that suggestion. You see a lot of cars these days. They say zero very light W10 oil. They know this is a truck.
They know people are going to abuse it. They designed it to use a little heavier oil. Now my advice is to get the fully synthetic 5w30, GF6 oil. Now some of the GF6 oils are only for zero W16. You don't buy it, but they also make the 5W30 use the GF60 it was designed for. these ecoboost engines so that the turbocharger, which is lubricated by engine oil, does not wear out and so that the valve train does not wear out, the variable timingof valves that you have clean oil the most important thing in these is to change the oil that doesn't I don't care what they say, I bought one of these, I would change the oil every 5,000 miles or once a year, I wouldn't care unless you drove everything type of highway, which is like 10 percent of city driving, so if you did nothing. but driving on the highway you could easily change it every 10 or once a year and you wouldn't have to worry about it, but driving in a normal city you'll want to change it about every 5,000.
Oil is cheap, engines cost a fortune and like you I can see all modern engines with a lot of plastic, you don't want to have the chance to ruin things just because your oil was dirty, so what do I think? Well, I'm not a fortune teller, only time will tell if these things hold you back. I don't know, hey, they could just all fall apart when they're three years old, I don't know who the hell knows, but if this is successful, it could be another model T for Ford, since the base model is cheaper than the model T with inflation, a radical idea. truck that actually gets good gas mileage but drives pretty well and I really have to emphasize that this thing drives pretty well for a truck, even a car.
I'll tell you right now that it drives 10 times better than this matrix. it's an old matrix seven it has a motorcycle type suspension in the back it turns like a dream this is a much faster corner for sure but the smooth ride of that truck most people like a smooth ride and this thing It certainly has it and it also has four doors, they fit a group of people regularly, people can sit in the back and look out, they've made a nice big window so you have a decent view too, you can carry quite a bit of course, it's a small bed, it's a small truck it's not a full size bed but you can still carry quite a few things they're not made especially for towing and he's waiting for a hitch they still don't have them now with the tow package the two liter ecoboost engine can pulling four thousand pounds that's what they're rated for, you can do more if you go slow or something, but that's a reasonable amount for a small truck just for hauling stuff.
Let's face it, you don't buy a small truck to pull around. All that now, the owner just informed me that he has no complaints and I have to say that if I got on this, I would have serious complaints, like I said, I don't like electronic transmission controls and all that. electronic crap electronic parking brakes I just don't like that stuff because I'm the guy that has to fix them in his pain and ass to fix in terms of gas mileage how it looks how it stops trips, I must say Now I'm impressed, such Maybe time makes a fool of me, we'll find out that, wow, those things they made in Mexico, what a piece of junk they were, time will tell, time will tell on the Model T Ford, when they first came out, they had flaws here and there . but they worked it out and sold millions of them, so if they end up selling millions of these things, it will show that they had a really good idea to turn the Maverick into my favorite old car.
I had a 70's Maverick with a three in the tree and then a little truck that drives about 10,000 times better than my old

maverick

car it was no use in the snow it was rear wheel drive it just turned it could be a really cool thing Ford invented if They last a while, so stay tuned and see what old time has to say about it in the future, so if you never want to miss another one of my new car repair videos, remember to ring that bell.
