Apr 19, 2024
What I have here is a $350 carbon fiber composite Les Paul style

guitar

with some really cool electronics. Now how can you make a

guitar

like

this

for $350? Is it too good to be true? Well, let's find out. Yes, welcome back to the channel. I hope a super interesting guitar in the studio does very well today as I designed a carbon fiber composite so here's a quick look at the neck of course

this

is not woven carbon fiber those guitars cost thousands of dollars, but There are some advantages, namely in the weight, look how that neck joint can be placed on an asymmetrical neck, meaning it's rounded here for lacing, it's very comfortable and flattened here for solo and solo playing , so you can do all that molding with this compound. and of course it will have huge amounts of savings and of course humidity changes, temperature changes, this will withstand them all like normal carbon fiber, so what exactly is this mysterious carbon fiber?

They shoot well, this is from a company called Ana, now it is very unique. instrument has a zero fret, as you can see right there, you don't see that on guitars, I often really like the ENA headstock, it's a very clean classic, but it's something unique, it's like it has that asymmetrical, um, ya You know, it's in place. The join in the middle looks very good. The heel joint is very smooth. It's nice to play loud if you've played a lot of Les Pauls. You know, getting to the upper octave, especially up to the upper frets, is a challenge here, it's better. than most electric guitars on the market, so that's really cool, we've got a couple of humbuckers in there and there and if we look at the back we've got kind of a big cavity here and now you might be wondering why that's there. because there's one thing I haven't shown you yet on this guitar and that's right here, the model name of this guitar is novag go Sonic and I have to mention that I really like the 12th fret inlay, it's very clean. the front face except for the 12 fret marker and of course on the sides you have regular markers so you know where you are but yeah Novag Sonic you can use this guitar at least three ways of course we're going to to plug in. on an amplifier so we can listen to it, we're going to look and listen to the built-in amplifier and speaker and there's the jack, so yeah, you have your normal 1/4 inch jack, you have a headphone jack and I have USB for charging, etc., now other notable features include a truss rod adjuster right next to the neck.

More Interesting Facts About,

i can t believe this guitar is 350 a budget les paul that is surprising...

I always love when carbon fiber manufacturers put in a truss rod even though you don't technically need it because it allows the user to set the action height and relief on the neck to put the power in the player's hands, which It's really good and then once you have it set up it won't move which is really cool and the fret works for $350. guitar, each end of the frets are beautifully rounded, I love to see that on a guitar of this price level feels really great, other than that i will put all the specs of this guitar in the video description below, you can see all the detailed specs there, but those are the highlights, let's plug this in and see how it sounds .

Well, first, let's connect the novag go Sonic to the Rev 120 generator and then we will test the integrated amplifier, so We start with the magnetic pickups. I'm going to start with the neck pickup, uh, with a lead tone. That's a classic Les Paul move, for sure, let's see if we have, you know, a little bit of a creamy Les Paul tone that we have. I can get here, let's go next. I'm going to switch between uh, the push-pull pot here, so I'm going to pull it out and see if that makes a difference to our main tone, so just in my ear, um, when you pull it out. it takes away some of the treble and you get a creamier tone when it's out and when it's in you get a little bit more of that shine, let's go to the bridge right now, let's try some clean tones. on the neck pick up here the middle position and the bridge now one thing I'm interested in is if we can use the effects through the quarter inch jack, so let's say you just have a clean amp and you say, well, I can't afford the luxury. effects at this point, could this guitar fit the bill?

Because normally when you press like that and you can see it light up green, that means this speaker is on and you have your amp and you don't need an amp. You can just play it through the speaker. I want to see if it will play over here, which sounds like this because I can hear it well, so it's also a volume knob, so I have my magnetic pickup volume. I'm going to turn it off okay so you need to turn up the master volume and then turn up the effect volume as much as you want so yeah the effects now the distortion is coming straight from the guitar it's actually a pretty cool feature if you don't You don't have an amp or you just have a clean amp, go to the next one, great, so when you turn on the effects, that actually comes through the quarter inch as well, which is awesome, and the headphone jack, um, let's change to the internal speaker. and just look at how that sounds, okay, so let's go to Blue, which in this case I think is a light break.
I love that you still have your pickup positions although of course it's completely different, but you can still go to the neck of the bridge. and let's get different shades, let's try the next one, which is, oops, I kept it on too long, let's move on to the next one, which is yes. The green is a clean light break and then that teal color, I think that's our high gain and finally us. We have that kind of pinkish purple color and that's our main tone, so let's go ahead and go back to the neck pickup, yeah, it's really fun to have that delay there.
I could see myself sitting and fiddling with that one for hours and hours. So yeah, the built-in speakers really are great, so just tap and hold now it's offline. And if you want, yes, tap and hold to activate it. A very, very simple rope through the body. The magnetic pickups sound great and then there's like. a little rubber cover so to change the strings you just open it up and run the strings through the body and then yeah you charge via the USB port, pretty clever stuff so here are my final thoughts on the Enya Nova, go To Sonic, now first things first, uh.
On their website they say that each of these guitars will weigh 6lbs, which is extremely light, especially for the Les Paul style, and because they use a carbon fiber composite, they can live up to that claim - it's not like the wood, where some will be very heavy. It's going to be lightweight, all in the same guitar shape from the same manufacturer, so they're all six pounds, that's very, very light, very nice to play because of all the rounded corners, everything has smooth edges on this guitar, that's a carbon advantage. fiber and we talked about the heel joint, really beautiful, the fret ends very beautiful so it plays very easy now it doesn't feel like a wooden guitar obviously no carbon fiber guitar does but yeah this is It plays very well, that's the first thing.
To note, second, I use this guitar almost exclusively with the built-in speaker, that's how convenient it is, it's very convenient to plop down on the couch, press a button and start playing with some effects. Yes, you look at it and ask me: Would I ever use that? I am using it exclusively. It's very convenient and sounds good enough to enjoy. It doesn't sound tiny. It doesn't sound lazy. It just sounds pretty good. I know what it is, that it's in a very thin case, so all the tones that I recorded directly with this speaker were just through my lapel microphone, so I hope that turned out okay, but yeah, I thought, am I going to use it? ?
Is it ingenious, whatever it turns out to be? Yes, you can plug it into a regular guitar amp and people will like it, but only as a practice tool. This is the best. You just like, literally, grab your guitar and a pick, press the button and you can play. clean or overdrive or lead, that's awesome, so yeah, a lot more use of that built-in speaker than I thought I'd ever do, so as a practice tool like a practice guitar, something that can stand up to like being in the heat. Go out into the cold and get wet. and you know, it's really convenient, very, very good package for $350, yeah, I was looking at that.
I wonder, man, how can they do that? But it's a really good package, especially for a beginner or especially for a dedicated practice instrument, so it's possible. Disadvantages of this guitar overall, yes, I love this instrument. I think when I look at it I would probably like a normal plate. I don't know if it's the traditionalist in me because it's not really a traditional guitar in any sense, but For me and for my peace of mind, I would just like a proper metal plate with all the Jacks on there. I don't know how these Jacks will hold up, you know, in 3 years or whatever, so part of me is like, just go for it.
I have a plate with two screws. I can unscrew it and re-solder something if it comes off or whatever and this thing comes off, but you have to take off all the rubber feet and then unscrew them and stuff like that, so you're probably not going to want to go into that too much, but yeah, that's probably the only drawback, and I also wouldn't mind the tone control on this there's no tone control, you have your split and your volume and then you can mix into the effect using this volume, so really only two volumes on the selector.
Personally, I'd love a model with shade control just to give you a little more control over the exact shade you want, so yes, but as a package it's amazing. I don't know how they made it for $350, it's really fun to play. The compound has, you know, a sticky feel. Keep that in mind too. It won't feel like a wooden guitar. It has its own feel, but yeah. Durable magnetic pickups sound great Surprisingly useful on-board effects Thank you very much for watching. I love featuring guitars like this that are completely different than anything else out there and this guitar definitely fits the bill.
I'll link it in the video description. Below you can check the prices, specifications and all that, other than that, have a great day, take care.
