i bought decorative "aesthetic books" on etsy... and actually read them

Jun 02, 2021
It sounds great but where am I going to get squid? So by process of elimination, since I didn't want to cook anything else, I'm going to make chicken satay which does sound delicious. It's quite complicated - it seems to have a lot of ingredients and I feel like my maximum is seven, but I'll go to the store and buy these ingredients and then we'll see what happens. Food is usually what gets me through the day, so we'll try that. Okay, I al

Okay, so the ingredients are here and then this is the kind of instruction that I had to make some little adjustments to. For example, it said to get the highest quality peanut butter, but I have Aldi's own brand, so we're working with what we have and if I can do it. It will prove to be idiot-proof, so let's give it a try and see what happens. Okay, I'm trying to do a little DIY with the almonds, but I don't think it will work. I'm just taking out my anger on the other

books

. I've decided to put

them

in the blender and I think this might be a good way to blend

them

, so listen, don't be afraid to call me. a genius.

More Interesting Facts About,

Okay, okay, here we go. Oh my god, it's not plugged in. Remember what I said about calling myself a genius? Oh, I'm a genius! Nobody... oh! By the way, no one is more surprised that this is going well than me. Look at me weighing everything. This is character development   if I have ever seen it. Gordon Ramsay, I'm going for the crown and now we let this chicken marinate in the spices and coconut milk for about two hours and,

actually

, this doesn't look bad... still, it's always good to clarify -- it doesn't look horrible still. But I'm sure that time will come.

While I was waiting for my chicken to marinate, I was

ing the f--- what's it called? The Pilgrim's Way! I think my brain completely failed...maybe this isn't so good for me. But the section on Durham was really interesting because I learned a lot more about the area I lived in for about three years. I say "like three years" because... oops, pandemic! In fact, look, look at that photo of Durham Cathedral. That's where I should have graduated and instead my last semester was Zoom University. This is Bede's tomb in Durham Cathedral and when I was in my first year of university I studied Bede's work, so we were reading Bede's Ecclesiastical History of England while Bede was literally buried about 100 meters from where I was sitting.

That's cool in a morbid way, so it was really nice to remember because in my first year of university I literally lived next to Durham Cathedral. As for the rest of the book... I skimmed it, I'm not going to lie. This part is sweet too, um, on the front there's a message that says "to John on your very special birthday, with all the good wishes..." and then it looks like it says Stalin, but I'm going to guess... - I'm going to assume that it was not from Stalin. Also, it's a little strange to think that that person gave away the book that someone else gave them or... died.
Either way, I now have the book and am treasuring it, thanks, perhaps, Stalin. And now I hope the chicken is marinated and I can follow the next steps. So there's the chicken and here we have peanut butter, oil, lemon juice, soy sauce, all that good stuff and chili powder, and I think we're going to mix the two together and you know, we got the best of both worlds. . Did you know? I don't think it's gone too much, it

looks like something edible... and I'll choose something edible. In my opinion, the type of edible is an advantage.
I completely burned my finger on that pan, so this better be good. I mean, it really smells like peanut butter. Well, there's nothing here, except maybe food poisoning. Wait a damn minute, my God! My congratulations to the chef... that's me! It's delicious. Well, I have to say that I am now available to attend weddings or funerals. I may cause the funerals. I'll let you know in about 24 hours if I survived this, but I think it's actually a job well done. So I'm reading an Introduction to Oriental Art and look at this! Isn't it just awesome? I mean, that's amazing.
Like the art here is obviously beautiful. This part is especially interesting because when I went to China I had to go to Beijing and see the Summer Palace, so it's great to learn about the architecture and designs behind them. Overall, this art guide was quite lovely. I learned a lot more about Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism, which I think is very helpful when reading Asian literature. I know it's very nerdy, but I actually got a lot of value from this because it talked about what the different colors symbolize and what the different images would mean and, um, I think it's pretty useful when you read literature inspired by These Religions too, so I didn't hate it even though it was pretty dense, like it really could have used some subtitles.
What's a guy gotta do to get some subtitles around here? You know, but that's a small qualm in the grand scheme of things. So here's the last one: Maybe I should rank them from best to absolutely shit. Okay, I was tearing up my house trying to find these

books

and it turned out that my camera was balanced on one of them and that's why I couldn't find it, so take these recommendations with a pinch of salt because I clearly am. Stupid, but I'm basically going to rank these books by level, so first up, God Level: The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole.
Of course this book was amazing, big fan, would wholeheartedly recommend it and I've also seen that there is a really good audiobook on Youtube so if you're interested, check it out! Next we have the good level: this is the book on Asian art that I enjoyed. Then we'll skip the correct level because there's nothing in it and just go straight to the normal level. Oh no, that's actually quite unfair. I'll put on the Pilgrims' Way and the Victorian Christmas Book Christmas Special...what's it called? The Victorian Christmas Book! Those two books will fall into the "okay" category, quite informative but ultimately not that interesting. "Meh" is a cook for hire.
Aside from the chicken thing, everything sounded disgusting and I think the whole reason cookbooks exist is to make good food. And then finally we have the "I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole" level and that one has How to Paint with Watercolors because it didn't teach me anything other than that rule: "to be good at art is to have a natural ability in art" and then The Batsford Color Book of Vintage Cars, which loses points just for being racist. Obviously, if we're talking about purely

aesthetic

value, then I think they're doing pretty well because they all have this gorgeous gold print and I like it.
She is beauty, she is grace. And what do we achieve here? I'm not entirely sure, but the deed is done. Now I feel like I should address the elephant in the room... or the

aesthetic

pile of books in the room. I think a lot of you might expect me to hate this concept because "books are meant to be read and not just used for

decorative

value" but... but I'm not mad about it, like I don't care. I think a lot of books every year get removed and probably all of these books come from a charity shop, right?
I imagine what this Etsy seller does is just go to charity shops and then pick out loads of aesthetically pleasing books, which basically saves you a job if that's what you're into, and that means money for charities, plus space on the charity's shelves. stores other books that might interest other people, so I don't see any harm in that. As long as there are books available (you know, these books can still be read and enjoyed by anyone), I will support it, I will support it because it means more money in the book industry. Also, the Etsy seller is definitely not responsible for the quality of the literature contained in the books or whether they have questionable themes because you can't expect them to like reading them all... like I just did.
So ultimately, if you came to this video expecting me to call up this Etsy seller and, you know, suggest that he should descend into hell on a pole like Lil Nas X, then I'm sorry I can't do that. I won't give it to you. So if you enjoyed watching this video and you enjoyed watching me suffer, then you can give this video a big, juicy thumbs up and you can also subscribe below.
