How to turn off work thoughts during your free time | Guy Winch
Jun 05, 2021Sally's constant refrain was, "I have too much
work
to do." It is one of the most common musings. Like any moment of rumination, it is useless and harmful, because we never invoke it while we arework
ing doing what we have to do. We only invoke it when we are away from work, when we are trying to relax or do something meaningful, like playing with our children or while spending the afternoons with our partner. Toturn
ruminations into positivethoughts
, you must see it as a problem that needs to be solved. Work to find a solution to the statement, "I have too much work to do." It is a call to organization and programming. For example, "Where are the spaces in my calendar where I can schedule annoying tasks?" or "How can I be flexible with my schedule to make room for this urgent matter?" Or even, "When will I find 15 minutes to go beyond my schedule?" These are all issues that need to be worked on. No to that statement: “I have a lot of work to do.” Facing rumination is difficult, but if you lean on the barriers. If you make the transition from home to work a spiritual ritual and if you commit to transforming rumination into positive ways of thinking, you will succeed.
Eliminating rumination
time
has improved the efficiency of my personal life, but what has improved even more is the joy and satisfaction I experience in my work. Ground zero for creating a healthy work-life balance is not in the physical world. It's in our imagination. It's about dealing with rumination. If you want to reduceyour
stress and improve the efficiency ofyour
life, you don't necessarily have to change the type or hours of your work. You just have to change your thinking pattern. Thank you all. (applause)If you have any copyright issue, please Contact
