I've gotten a couple of comments and questions and previous videos about tuning the truck and I thought the best way to answer those questions is to just do a quick video, so let's get started right now. If you're new to the channel, this is my truck, it's my oh wait six for the f450. The suction cup thing, but it's totally functional as is and then you just run this cable from the back of the monitor to the dash, you can just pull this weather stripping down and stick it back here, very easy, you know, like a job of five minutes. or less and the cable plugs directly into the obd2 port down here and this is where you would do all the code reading and all that so you stay connected 24/7 to run

monitor and all your powers also pass by now.

My truck has already been tuned with this hys minimax for about a year and a half, but I'm going to revert the truck back to stock and walk you through the process of tuning the truck for the first time and that. It should help you know the different little things that I've learned over the past year regarding what tunes to use and things of that nature, but it's all very simple and I'll walk you through it right now. like the unit is about to reset and then we should be 100% in stock again so the message here says you have returned your vehicle to stock please start the engine now press reset to start monitoring or you can unplug it to which is now rebooted.

I know. I just said start the engine, but I don't want to start it because obviously I've completely removed the EGR and DPF, and that could probably cause a lot of error codes, so I'm going to go ahead and take out the key, now I'll open the engine. door, make sure all the power is out and then we'll take it from there, so we're back to square one. It will start and you will see the HMS and minimax performance logo appear and you already have your gauges here, so the first thing we're going to do is go up here to the menu, we're going to install, download, hopefully, you can see this, turn the key to the position off, continue, check vehicle type, oh wait: 10 6 4 or the owner. of this vehicle yes, turn the key to the drive position and continue because this vehicle has an automatic transmission yes or no yes reading the engine press yes to change the speedometer or tire size or no to use the original tire size , we will not do it because my The truck is in stock Do you want to adjust the speed limiter?

No, I do not care. Is the emissions system still present on this vehicle or has it been removed or modified for Hisle fuel use? Now this is the key here when your EGR or DPF or both are removed, you mean removed, so we are here on removed and this part here, you know it would be amazing, this hd300 gives you options of 50 horsepower, 125, 225 or 300 soft you have an option on stock 80. 160 and 250 and then easy is the stock 60 120 and 175 when my truck was tuned previously I had it in this intermediate mode and that's where I'm going to keep it today because I really have no interest in being at these higher levels. numbers here so we're going to press select if you want to adjust low boost fuel yes or no this will affect all power levels we'll press yes and low boost fuel if you don't know what it is it affects how much fuel is injects into the engine at low revs so basically that's just going to control the amount of black smoke coming out of the exhaust and for the last year I've been driving this, I haven't touched it and if I actually got in the truck it would put out a nice plume of smoke so which I'm going to go ahead and turn it down a little bit to keep the black smoke from coming out too much from here, so using the up/down arrows select a feel level like this. it's at 3, that's where it comes preloaded, you can go up to 5, which is no limit and you know it's pretty aggressive.

I'm going to go down to 2 on this and then press select and now the engine file is loading, so once all of this is done, then we're going to make a stream file and we should be back to square one or back to square one. where I started today. While this initializes the melody, there are a couple of things I want to tell you first. One that I really thought was interesting was that this unit is called H&S minimax, but it turns out that the EPA found out that H&S as a company no longer existed basically exactly because of what we're doing here today, you know with respect to the emissions stuff, so which have actually disbanded, they don't exist anymore, but bully dog ​​is actually the one who plays these monitors, this compact little thing here and all the original H&S tunes from that era have been compiled by bully dog ​​and are preloaded on these monitors, so you still have the H and s tuning of yesteryear.

I think it was 2011-13 or something like that when HS had those emissions or problems with the EPA, another thing you should know. is that this H and s minimax will actually work on a variety of different trucks, I think from 2007 Cummins and possibly even Duramax to trucks like 2012 before the d EFs. I think Duramax might have had d EF. in 2011 to 12, but it will work for all those different trucks over a period of about four years and when you plug it in for the first time, H and s will register your VIN in the computer or programmer and it will stay locked to that VIN, so if You buy one second hand from a guy who installed it on a truck before, you'll be able to get a really good deal on this second hand stuff, but you'll have to ship it in and reset it. to accept a new truck VIN, that's something I read on the forums to take note of because it's not just plug-and-play after it's already been installed on a truck, so let's check this out now and see if it's finished loading, so we just got another question that says: do you want to adjust the transmission settings, shift modifiers and schedules?

I'm going to say no, this thing changed fine for me and we're going to move on and now it's copying the trans file into memory full notice, start the engine now so we're going to turn on, we're going to reset the screen so it turns off real quick and We will be shown our main screen again with all our indicators, as you can see here. the truck doesn't have the check engine lights on everything is exactly the same as before we started playing with the tuning and we go back to all of our menus here so I hope you can read that there is a power level that says Street on the down and you can go from the street, this says tip and then stock and then you can go up from stock to performance.

I keep it on the street, it's pretty smooth but it's a good level of power, we have all our gauges set from the factory. from H and s, which I leave the same all the time, we have a coolant temperature that is very cold since I just started the truck cold, it is 35 degrees, transmission temperature 32 goes up to zero and then the exhaust now, if you go back here, you can go into the performance tests, you can just 0 to 60s and stuff like that, you can set D fuel levels and that will basically reduce the fuel supply if the truck starts to overheat or something like that and other cooling and it's Diagnostic this basically since that's connected to the obd2 port there, if a check engine light ever comes on you can check your codes right through the screen here which makes it really easy, you're on the go, you can stop at any time. place and check a code and know what's wrong with your truck that falls down immediately?

You can also do a tire pressure calibration if you have a TPMS system, this truck doesn't and then you have a couple more user options as well, but that's basically what sums up the installation pretty well. and the tuning process of the H and s minimax so just good information to know if you're new to this and it may sound intimidating at first you know tuning your truck and playing with the computer system but it's actually not that bad the system.
