Mar 09, 2024
Hey guys, welcome back to my channel, I'm your girl, Roxy. Today's project I will

transform

this

plastic

chair

into something beautiful, if you are interested keep watching, so I started by taking the measurements of my

plastic

chair

so I can know which one is correct. Measurements I need so that my cardboard covers the back of the plastic chair on all sides. I transferred the measurements to the cardboard. I had this cardboard at home, so I took my tape measure and converted the measurements on the cardboard and then used my scissors to cut the cardboard into the correct measurements I needed to cover the plastic chair.

I first tried attaching the cardboard to the plastic chair using my staple gun, but the pins didn't hold well to its plastic chair. My plastic chair seems to be very hard. the pins weren't working on these parts so I opted to use the pin on this part to hold my cardboard to the plastic chair so I had to use tape around the plastic chair to hold my cardboard tight and it was working fine Wonderful. I sure used enough tape on the cardboard just to make sure that the cardboard held onto the plastic chair well and came out so perfectly that the cardboard held onto the plastic chair well.

I then went ahead to cover the bottom of the plastic chair. Using cardboard to fit the design I needed for my

accent

chair, I used cello tape again to attach the cardboard to the plastic chair just like I did on the top of the plastic chair, lastly I went ahead to cover the back of the plastic chair using the cardboard I also wanted my legs to be a different color other than the normal color of the plastic chair, so I went out and gave my legs two coats of bright gold spray paint, once the spray paint was dry, I moved on.

The next part was taking the measurement of the plastic chair cardboard to know the correct measurements I need for the foam that will cover my plastic chair. I had to take the vertical and horizontal measurements and then I had to cut my foam to the correct measurement I used contact glue to stick a foam on top of the cardboard so I had to spread the glue everywhere to make sure the foam It would hold well to the cardboard once the glue was dry, I moved on to fix My foam on top of the cardboard it is advisable to let the contacts dry for about 10 minutes before gluing anything you are going to glue on top of the service, so You should let the glue dry for about 10 minutes beforehand.

Moving on to the next part, I added another foam that is a half inch on top of the one inch foam I had placed on the cardboard. I did the same on the bottom of the plastic chair, applied the contact glue and then took my half inch Foam and placed it on top of the cardboard after gluing the foam. This is how my plastic chair looked, so I proceeded to the next part which was drawing the lines for the tufts. After making the lines for the strands, I had to make the dots that will guide me in making my diamond caps.
I first started by getting the midpoint of my second line on the plastic chair, the dot will guide me on how to make the diamonds, from that point guided me to draw and draw the points I needed for my tafting, I will put the measurements in the description box in the one I used for my target, if you are interested, after making the points I took my chrome tube to make the holes that the needle will pass through while Once I finished making the holes, I made my locks. I continued adding the batting on top of the foam using the contact glue.
Then I moved on to the fun part which was pinning the fabric on top of my plastic chair. I had this fabric at Home, it was from a previous project where I made the lampshade, so I will use this fabric to make my beautiful chair and make my tuft look better. I had to use a long needle that is normally used to make the tuft a thread and also a button I had to tie the thread to the back of the button so I use the button to make the tuft first I started by locating where the hole is to guide me on where to place the needle then I took my needle and placed it in the hole it was easy as the back of my chair had some holes and also the needle penetrates the cardboard very well after penetrating the needle I had to leave the back of the needle and then place my thread on the back of the needle forward to pull it since I covered the back of my plastic chair with cardboard I had to make sure my thread held well on the back of the cardboard so I had to use some hot glued skewers.
I lowered the skewer, then took the string and tied it firmly to the skewer so that the skewer served as a support for my thread to prevent the thread from cutting into the cardboard. I went ahead to make my locks using my needle. I loved how the strands turned out. Compared to using pins, I preferred to use the needle as it gives a perfect shape to the strand. I would love to thank you very much for your support, thank you very much it can be a blessing. I went ahead to do the tufts on my plastic chair and really loved how they turned out. Let me know in the comments section what you think about this lock. Do you prefer to use that needle or not? I prefer to use the staple gun. I bought my needle at my local hardware store for only three dollars, so it's very cheap and easy to use and it's also strong enough to not break very easily like salon needles once I was done with my locks.
I continued gluing the excess fabric to the back of the plastic casing. It was easier to use hot glue on this part since the fabric adheres well to the cardboard side. I continued to glue the excess fabric on the bottom and then proceeded. The next part was to place the foam on the plastic chair in the middle part of the plastic chair, so I had to use contact glue to join the two foams together and then use the same fabric to cover the foam. I had to use hot glue as well to stick my fabric onto the foam to make sure the foam doesn't move on the plastic chair.
I had to use contact glue to stick it to the plastic chair and then continued gluing the excess fabric to the sides using my hot glue. so I had to squeeze the fabric and then use the hot glue to attach the fabric to the cardboard. I continued gluing the fabric around the chair using the hot glue on the front as it left excess fabric that I had to make up. a pattern that will secure the excess fabric on the front side and then on the other side I used hot glue to stick the fabric on and guys I loved how my chair was turning into a beautiful essence chair.
I really love the process and also the fabric, how it goes well with the gold color that had been sprayed on the plastic chair legs on the back of the chair. I continued using contact glue to stick my fabric onto the foam and then off I went. Go ahead to carefully place the fabric on top of my foam before gluing the excess fabric. I had to glue the excess fabric in a certain pattern just to give it a nice finish once the glue dried. I went ahead to pin the fabric on top of the other. fabric so I have to use a lot of hot glue on this part just to make sure the fabric adheres well to the other fabric, as you can see the glue left some whitish at the joint so I had to use some mesh sunflower. which I bought from aliexpress to cover the whitish part of the joints, so I had to cut them into a strip shape and then use horse glue to place the sunflower mesh one at a time on the patch that showed the whitish part of the glue.
I had to place the flamingo sun around the seam where the two fabrics met then I went ahead and lined the side parts using the sunflower mesh to prevent the glue from showing through. I loved how the plastic chair turned out. Then I went to the fun part again, which was adding some rhinestones to the silver buttons, so I just wanted to cover the silver button with some rhinestones that sparkle well compared to the silver button. I used my hot glue to stick the rhinestone on the silver button at once once I was done I kept removing the excess glue from my plastic shell and finally guys this is the final look of my beautiful plastic chair that I have
