how to project mora knife mods and survival sheath
We're starting the course with the Mora knife, this is the heavy duty mg, it's the mg buddy a little bit heavier a little bit heavier than your standard Mora it's carbon steel which I really like and then the

sheath

, which a lot of times the blades can be a little negative the more the knife, but with this little mg it sits here the retention is really solid. I think that has something to do with it. I mean, you have to really grab it to get it out. It has a rubber embossing over the mold on the handle and I think that has a little bit to do with holding it and then we're going to put some electrical tape on it and we're going to wrap this around the case and underneath we're going to have some tablets of water purification and then we are going to place a firesteel. and I'm going to show you how we're going to do that and then on the outside we're going to use paracord, but this is not just a normal paracord, it's a 550 fire cord and it's actually used for laying or you can use it for rigging, so It's the best of both worlds, but one of the big problems with carbon steel is that it's not really treated.

I mean, there's a treatment here that applies more, but it wears off quickly and this will start to corrode. and even rust, so let's put a mustard patina, a forced mustard patina here and I'll show you how to do it. I already made a video on how to make hot vinegar and how it worked really great. I mean it was a beautiful knife, but we're going to try this and we're also going to go through and do a 90 degree angle on the spine here because right at this point this knife is not going to hit a refractory steel, so here are the elements that we're going to What you will need to complete the mustard

project

you will need a file, paper towels, this is from an old bottle or oil container, motor oil and I just cut this piece, this will be what holds our fire resistant steel and also some denatured.

You need to make alcohol and a little bit of water first to rinse things off the angle of the knife before doing any treatment on the blade, so I'm going to put this in a vice, it's not necessary, you can probably do it by hand. but it sure will make it a lot easier and I have some protective pads here for my vise to hold the knife in. You could probably use some leather or even cloth if you wanted or you could use the straight blade or the handle, but I want to protect that handle now we're just going to take and make an even cut across the top of this blade.

Now this can be done with a dremel tool or it can be done with a grinder. I wouldn't really suggest the grinder. It may take off too much, but I wanted to make something that everyone can do quite easily in one file, it's something we all normally have. Well, we have our advantage. Now let's start with the patina if you already have one. Mora and you have some corrosion and some things, you can get one of these little knife erasers, this really works well, this was a new one that I used that striker on so I'm going to clean it up. up a little bit, what we're going to do next is take the isopropyl alcohol and the main thing we're going to do is just clean, remove the oils from your hands and other things from that sheet, be careful with this. things are very crisp right out of the box now there are a lot of different ways to do this and a lot of people put designs on theirs and one of the things I'm going to do is just put it here and then we're going to do some effects with it on a side of time now I'm just going to cover mine with my fingers.
I don't really care about all the scribbled lines but you can do that but this makes it pretty much a cool design where the mustard sticker has a different effect you just want to make sure you cover every area now I'm going to grab my paper towel I'm just going to do some touches to remove some of that let me go the spine too because that's where you removed that metal. Now we're going to do the other side making sure we don't mess up the side we've done using our finger, it just gives it a cool effect. but you can make some wavy lines, you can use cotton swabs which also create an attractive design.
I'm going to take my paper towel and just rub it a little bit, you don't want the mustard put on the paper towel and wring it out, so I just grab a clamp, put it on, you can set it to something if you want, just to keep the blade from touching , we'll let this sit for about an hour. I still have about 15 minutes left, but I just wanted to show you that the color is coming out under the mustard. Looking at it a little closer, it almost looks like it's been rested and it's kind of an oxidation process that just helps protect. okay, we've had them here for an hour and we're going to go ahead and clean this up just part of the first part.
Wow, that's a really cool look and we'll take some water, just wipe it off. up a little bit, you can see it. I think it's a little stained and I probably took too much off when I was wiping it with the paper towel, so we'll do it one more time, just get a little bit darker finish. I'm not really going to go through the whole process, we'll just see what it looks like afterwards. Well, here it is after round 2, it's a little darker and has a pretty good design, but I think what I'm going to do.
What I do is I wrap it in vinegar and see if I can really get that darker patina. Now I'm going to use some of this apple cider vinegar, it's the same vinegar that we used for the original red knife that actually came out. dark I'm not going to heat it but we're just going to soak it in these napkins and we're going to try it. I'm going to use this plastic bag also I think I'm just going to put it in. there, once you have this vinegar, okay, let's take the knife and just wrap it with this vinegar this way, we won't waste a lot of vinegar and we'll also completely cover that blade, okay, stick it here and let it sit nice, guys, They ended up leaving this overnight.
I wanted to go back and check it out, but let's find out what's going on here. Very curious. I put a little more vinegar in there before I left, let's see what we do. I know it's got a nice patina on it so it's still dark enough and then it's got a lot of pattern on it, but it's not just completely black so let's clean this up look better guys I just put a light coat of oil on here just to highlight the color and I like it here, it compares to a standard blade and there is quite a difference of course the reflection will prevent everything from being seen but you can see here that there is quite a bit of patina and here is the knife in which We take out the vinegar and then we immerse it definitely much darker and with a more matte finish.
I think this is actually a little more decorative, so it gives you a couple different ways forward, but I think they're both really cool. Now we are going to place our refractory steel and I have folded this card to find the right place. What I'm going to do is bend it a little. A little bit because we want it to fit on the side. The important thing is to be able to put this in and take it out. One of the things is when you put a lot of electrical tape in here it can really close this up and make it very tight. salt, so keep that in mind, especially when you go up, because if you tighten it too much, it's going to hit this little bump and it's going to be hard to get it out, so we're going to try to get it. where it has some retention but it's not too tight, so we'll start from the bottom mainly just to secure a little bit cheaper for your refractory steel.
I will tell you guys that if you stretch it too much it will be tight, but One of the things also is that you will have paracord over this so it will be secure so you don't have to tighten it too much, also make sure you don't get too close to your fire steel . where it hits the card because you don't want the tape to stick check my refractory steel yeah it's still fine I can get it in and out but it still has retention now let's take the water tablets put them here again We're going to add a lot of tension once you do it a little bit, although we're going to use the paracord so it should protect it and these are waterproof, they're sealed, so it's not necessarily water, it won't affect. that closes the end here we're going to cut our tape now let's check the fire steel and yes it has some retention but it comes out pretty easily guys you get the fire cable in live fire gear don't worry and this to me is just a great way to achieve a dual purpose now, this will allow you to burn the end a little bit and we want to achieve this so that we can have a nice solid, make sure that it doesn't come apart, okay, now we're going to show This is a very simple paracord braid and I actually found it in the best survival tips.
He does a great job. He has a great channel. A large channel. I was looking at a lot of different ideas for paracord and I just don't care. too ornamental, but you can check out some different shapes. There are a ton of different ways on YouTube, so check them out. I think you'll find bugs that suit you, but if you're like me and want something simple, this is definitely what you need. So the first thing I do is I open this loop and you have a short end right here and then the longer end is attached to the rest of the paracord, you bring it in, start twisting it and you just want to flip it over and repeat like I do.
Let's say it's very simple, you want to make sure it's nice and tight, but we're going to tighten it again in just a minute. Nice and tight makes it look good now once you get it up here near where the fire is still okay. here and then we're going to pull it out through this little hole here and when we do that we're going to pull it down right here and you can see it's locking it in place, it's also going to tighten everything and it's going to do it. Pull the knot like this so you have the knot here and then this is just the extra piece, so it's a really simple design, but man, this works well.
You can see some black electrical tape, but I can't. I don't care because I want to be able to get to my first seal, now what we can do is tie this and we can tie the bottom in one simple night. It's okay, you can be as ornate as you want, maybe I'd like to keep it. simple, now we're going to trim and we're going to trim, we're going to shape our edges, we want to keep it off the sheet, melt them together, form that knot into a little dough, that way it's not going to unravel it, so we have our cover pretty much ready, we put out the heat yet, so here we go, we have everything attached and it looks very nice and solid.
My fire has steel here and I can still shoot. this can be done without too much trouble and I have paracord or fire cord, I have electrical tape and then I have water purification and I can make a fire and we have the fire apparatus, a very good unit right here, okay, and here we have our La Complete sheath and knife with patina are a nice little package. Now one thing, if you want to use some type of retainer, I found that sometimes you can take a hair tie and there are a couple different sizes, but what you do is go up and back twice. then you can use double or single and that just gives you a little bit of extra retention and you can just take it off and take out your knife.
I don't really think I'm going to need that, but it's given the situation, so just a quick way to hold it in now here's one I made earlier, it already has the patina. This is one where I used apple cider vinegar. It really came out beautifully and I actually heated it up, put it in a bowl and then dipped it about four times. it has a good solid retention here I have the tape on and I have a standard paracord or 550 cord and then I have a smaller fire resistant steel this one is very thin and fits very well in there to retain it. because you had this little loop right here that connects the sheaves, if you know how to work and you need several knives, this is just for a hair tie and I ran it through there and it seems to work really well, but I really don't think so.
This is just going to fly out, but it was just an extra holding measure, but this was a really good project here. I guess if I did it again I'd probably put in a fire cable, but it would still be a useful little knife system. then here we have one with the duct tape underneath and I have some water purifying tablets, the fire wire, but instead of having fire steel here we can take out our knife and the fire is still stuck in the top. I love this and it is stainless steel. So you don't have tofinish it, but I like to do it too.but this will hit fire, contrary to what some people say, fire steel will hit stainless steel, it's not just carbon steel, it's the edge that counts, so that is simply hidden here, it is here.
I have my offer here. I've got stringing, I've got duct tape and I've got water purification, this is a cool little package right here guys, the sky is the limit on what you can do with these and there are so many different options, and I'm telling you. There are so many videos on YouTube about this that you can do a little research and find some cool stuff that might tear you apart. You know, this is just what I like and I think these are three completely separate types of kits, but still. they all serve the same purpose so guys we have other projects coming up so stay tuned for these more knives they are a lot of fun and I want to thank Marshall from Go Gear for sending them and offering a 10% discount when you order anything on communication team using suits soo TCH er0 check it out and he offers free shipping over $49 so check out these knives and I'll tell you they are very affordable for the quality you get and when you can make all these different ones.

mods

and really make this your knife.
I think it's really cool but there are other types of knives you can also do similar things but the knife most seems to be one that you can do a lot of testing with and still have a good solid knife be strong be brave God bless America long live the Republic great source but there are many different types of these knives and I think you can find something now the first thing we're going to do is... now the first thing we're going to do is: okay, now we're going to tip this knife like this, like this, like this, just bring it to turn it around and bring it around this cool little compact survival knife for tomorrow, you know, ten more bucks. one hundred dollars
