How to Paint Brake Calipers in the CLEANEST and EASIEST Way! (Brush On)

Jun 06, 2021
What's up guys, welcome back to my channel. It's been a couple of weeks since we made a video about the corvette. The reason is we're actually detailing this, so it's been out for a couple of weeks. But it looks pretty bright now today. I actually wanted to finally

paint

the

brake

calipers

. I found this

brake

system on Amazon. Basically this is a brake

brush

kit so you basically have to unbox this so basically what they give you 50 bucks for is this brake caliper

paint

system and this is. the reactor in the kit also comes this brake cleaner which I'll save you some money there and somewhere here there's actually a

brush

now the color we're going to use today is blue the reason is I wanted this car to have a pair at least one more color to accentuate it, so what we did here was we made this corvette text in blue, we made this logo in blue, uh, blue license plate cover and then little details like this logo is blue on all the wheels and the main logo is also blue.

Um so I thought I'd add to it that it would look cool if we had blue brake

calipers

so anyway I think like I said this is the

easiest

way to do it no need to get messy with it and start really spraying everything . what you have is just a brush and you carefully brush it where you need it, so yeah, let's start right, the first step is to jack up the car and remove the wheels, you have the car in the air, here are our brakes , so The first step is to spray on some brake cleaner, let it sit there and drip and then wipe it off, okay, that's how it cleans.

I'm going to do everything in the mirror, so I'll do this side. and then that side, um, each side will need about three coats of paint and ten minutes between each coat to test, so my idea is to do this side while it dries, do the other side, this side, that side and so on. So we sprayed this a couple of times, now we're going to clean it up really good with the cloth and start painting. Here's our paint and this is the reactor that actually makes the paint dry and adhere really well, so let's open this up there. let's go okay, we pour that in there now, once you pour it in here, you have about four to six hours of this paint, it's not actually dry yet, so you want to work, I mean, you don't have to go very fast, I think they are four. six hours is enough, but I think you have to do it in one go, okay, they will pay us, so this is just the first layer that we did and the first impression is that, first of all, applying this stuff is very nice , it just feels like you.

You're just painting, you know, on a canvas or something, it's very relaxing, you know, there's no overspray anywhere and you could really get into all the fine details on the front and the back and actually have Be careful with the paint, it is already much prettier. Instead of spray painting it, I was going to try to go around these corvette letters, but that's too hard with this brush, it's not very precise, so what I'm going to do is cover it completely and I'm going to sand it later, but the First impression is amazing, it's already pretty well covered.

I think we might be fine with just two coats, but we'll see how it goes. I'm going to do the other side and then. We'll come back here and do the second layer and see what the first layer looks like on the other side off camera for you with the exact same routine, but now we're going to do our second layer on this side. I went ahead and actually applied a third coat off camera on both sides and it already looks great now there are some unevenness in the paint but it does smooth out over time and the manufacturer says it actually needs a full 24 hours to cure for complete and I do not recommend driving your car for 20 hours.
Fortunately, I don't really need to drive anywhere for the next 24 hours, but if you do, you might want to time this so that you don't need the car for 24 hours. hours before doing it, yeah the front is done, I love the way it looks, it's a really nice bright color, let's go ahead and do the rear parts, so pretty much the same goes for the rear brakes, they'll probably be a lot smaller. to make it easier, faster, do the same thing, remove the mask, clean the brakes, clean and then start painting here is easier and we finish our brake calipers, there we go, you can't really see much here, like this So let me take the car out a little bit and I'll show you more details and that's it.
I think it turned out really great and it's not fully cured yet, so it's a little wavy in some spots, but as it cures, it actually gets smoother and flatter, and I think that's it. It looks great, probably not as noticeable on camera, but in person I really love it and this is definitely the

easiest

brake caliper paint job I've ever had. It doesn't get very dirty. You know, I didn't get paint on myself. it really goes into all the fine details of everything and it's very quick, it probably took an hour and 15 minutes maybe and just make sure you do it all at once so the paint doesn't dry out and there's still a lot of paint left.
I could probably make another car if I wanted to, but yeah, that's it. I'll leave a link in the description. They have a ton of different colors, probably like 20, for you guys to choose from, so if you want to do this. your car feel free to check it that's all thanks for seeing the peace
