How To Make a Windows 10 USB Install Drive FREE!

May 30, 2021
Hello and welcome to my last live stream today is Saturday, it's January 4, 2020. Welcome and today I'm going to show you very quickly a shorter video on how to create a Windows 10 bootable USB

install

ation media. I've already shown how doing this before in a previous video, it changed slightly and in fact there are at least three completely different ways you can do this, the way I'm going to show you today will require you to have a Windows computer. The other way around, I've shown you that you can use anything connected to the Internet, but this will require you to have a Windows computer, so before we start I want to thank Michael Brooks.

Michael had a faulty CPU. He is funny. You don't need to have never heard of it for years and years and years and then boom boom twice after another, then Michael decided to upgrade his system, I think, and he didn't want the replacement CPU, it wouldn't do him any good anymore, but he just decided to send the CPU in for warranty and then when he came back he would send it to me so I could give it away in a future build, now combined with a h3 10 type mini-itx board that was contributed by Ryan in Nevada I think this will work there as well that maybe we can put something together.

We have many small solid state

I have a system to give away what Michael sent this just arrived in today's mail a few moments ago this is an i7 7700 it's 3.6 gigahertz definitely no slouch and again this is how Intel does their warranty replacement also on the counter behind me there's a power supply that arrived today from Corsair just like Intel you know they said just mail in the CPU and you'll end up getting a heatsink too of course Sarah did the same thing they said just mail in the power supply power, save all your cables and they sent it to you by mail.

We have 750m new in a sealed box, just like you would buy in the store, which means we will have a lot of extra cables, which is fantastic. I love it when companies do that. I really do it because you know older cables get dirty or lost and then something else came in the mail today. This is a product I will be reviewing, maybe later this week, the folks at Rico asked me if I would be interested in trying a 512 gig portable NB. state drive and you know we've done these tests before they usually get about a thousand megabytes or so per second the box says 9:40 here and it has a three year warranty and I like that it's smaller than what you can do it yourself and then we can compare the price, performance and everything in it, so hopefully it will appear later this week and my thanks to the people at Orrico or Eko for contacting me and asking if I would be interested in reviewing any hard drive type of memory storage.

install

ation media that you always see me use.
I have one, I keep it here. This is my Windows 10 flash drive. You see, I just took a small label

make

r and labeled it because that's all this flash drive can be used for now. These flash drives cost a little more money. SanDisk Extreme Pro USB flash drives cost three to four times more money than any other drive of the same size and that's because they are so fast, their speed doesn't matter, buy the cheapest, the cheapest flash drive. This needs a flash drive that is a minimum size of 8 gigabytes, so it needs to be an 8 gig flash drive, it can be larger than 8, however you won't be able to use the flash drive for anything else, so if If you use a 64 gig flash drive, you'll basically have 56 gigs unavailable for you to use, so it's a waste of money to buy a flash drive that big and then only be able to use that much, but you can if you want.
I'm just suggesting that you buy an 8 gig flash drive and if you can only find 16 that's fine too there are 16 or cheap ones and again if you want if speed is important to you when looking at the price of a flash drive look at also on its performance and not just what the manufacturer says, look at the reviews on Amazon and see which ones have the best reviews. They will usually have screenshots of evidence of glass disc marks. I love when reviewers do this and that. can help you calculate how much you want to spend for what you will receive in return.
Now for me, I do Windows 10 installations several times a week, you may only need to do it once a year, not even that, so the speed issue may not go away. be a problem for you, oh, and David Kane just contributed $15, says Carrie. I'm wondering what's the best version of Windows that you tend to turn to if you're using Windows 7 Ultimate and you're bringing me a Coke and giving the dogs that cookie that is. a very good question, you can upgrade to Windows 10 for

free

from Windows 7, if you have a legitimate legal license of Windows 7 Ultimate, you can use the same tool that I am about to show you and it should upgrade you for free, so you shouldn't have to.

make

any decision, it will decide for you and you should activate it for free when you use this tool.
This tool is completely free and completely legal, it is provided by Microsoft and it will install Windows 10 on a clean installation in what we call it trial mode or trial mode. It will work completely without expiration, but it will be a watermark on your screen and some personal options will not be available to you until you activate them. It is the activation that costs money. It's activation where we talk about hacking, so if you have a valid Windows 7 license it will work to activate Windows 10 and there is already a video on how to do it here on the channel and I will be sure to link to it later. in the video notes below, but essentially what I'm going to do is I have this computer behind me that I just built, so this is a nice clean install.
I don't have anything on it and I thought it would be a great machine to demo this because there's nothing unique about it, it's just a brand new build and I just have some test software, so let's go to the desktop here and I can walk you through this process very, very simple and again there is more than one. The way to achieve this I already showed you a completely different way about a year and two years ago and now I'm going to show you the way Microsoft wants you to do it, which is actually much easier, especially for those of you who are non-technical. . people so let me switch to this desktop now there it is and let's go to when we see I have to enlarge my screen there okay now I can see so what we're going to do is open our browser no It doesn't matter if you use Firefox or Chrome, this is a fresh install, so we've got the head start there and we're going to go to Google, which we've already gone to Google up here and I can save you this step with a link.
The place I'm going to go is already in the video notes, but it's that easy to do. You would do it with Windows Media and then I don't have to write anymore. You will see the first media creation option. tool that's there, that's the tool that we want, that's what makes this so easy and the first link that appears here and again, this link is in the notes of the video, right now we'll click on it and I'll do this full screen. To make sure you can see it big and bold, this was actually very easy to do now.
If you have Windows 7, want to upgrade to Windows 10, or want to perform a full clean install of Windows 10, follow these steps first. I'm going to click on Create Windows 10 Setup. To click, it says download tool. Now this is what we want here and of course that's the link so we'll click on it and then save it to our downloads. directory once it's saved, we'll click run down here, we click run, and of course it says, you know, you want to allow this device to make changes. Yes, the software is from Microsoft, that's fine and now we can close the directory. browser, we no longer need the browser to be open, so now the tool is running, this is the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool and whether you are running Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10, you can run this tool in it and you can do anything you want.
Watch me if you upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 or from Windows 8 to Windows 10. You won't lose any programs. You will not lose any data. Microsoft may tell you that your Windows security essentials are not supported when you perform the update you just performed. confirm and Microsoft will automatically uninstall it and reinstall the new version with Windows 10. You don't have to physically go to control panel and uninstall anything unless the update identifies something on your system that is not supported, which rarely happens, but you You'll often see things from Microsoft Security Essentials, but that's not the case.
You don't have to do anything other than click confirm, so let's create our media again. This is your type of end user license agreement and you know you can review it and read it. all this if you want, I certainly won't stop you, but my videos are already long enough to read all this out loud to you, so we'll leave it up to you and you only have one option to continue and that is click ok, like it or not, it is something irrelevant now it will be processed a little more. This is a new computer and it is very, very fast.
This may take a little longer on the machine you are using. Please be patient and we want to get our USB flash drive ready so good that it's running, let me go back to this screen that we see right now and it's asking us if we want to upgrade, so if you had Windows 7 or 8, you would just select upgrade this PC now. if you want to flash it, which has nothing to do with creating a USB media, okay, that's totally separate, but it's the same tool you see. Our second option is to create the installation media tool, you can use a USB DVD or even just save an ISO file, but To keep this super super simple for those of you who aren't, know geeks like me, just click create installation media and click Next.
Now this comes up and it says use the recommended options for this PC, which are probably these options here that I always use. I unchecked this just because I like to be in control, but I'm not going to change anything. We want English. We want Windows 10. It will be placed in both editions, Home and Pro. In fact, in all versions of Windows 10, that is why the specific version will not. listed here and of course we want it to be 64 bit, no one should be running 32 bit anymore, you won't be able to see more than 4 gigs of RAM if you have a 32 bit OS, whether it's Windows Linux Mac whatever, you definitely want 64 bit, then click Next down here and it says, do you want to create an ISO file and that's just a one image file, an image file or do you want to create a bootable USB flash drive and it needs to? to have at least 8 gigabytes, remember that you won't be able to use the flash drive for anything else, so yes, I want to create a USB flash drive and I press Next.
Now it says we can't find a USB flash drive right now. period, let me go back to my main camera so you can see me here right now. I have my flash drive, this is just a blank flash drive, if this flash drive has anything on it, I will lose everything on it when it starts. this process will erase this flash drive if it was not already erased and turned into Windows 10 installation media and I will not be able to use it for anything else unless I reformat it and then of course it will be back in the condition we have now it's blank, so I'm going to go ahead and plug this into any available USB port.
I want this to work quickly, so I'm going to choose a blue USB port because it's a fast flash drive and plug it in. on a black USB port would slow down that flash drive, defeating the purpose of why I paid more for it now that it's plugged in, if we go back to the main screen, the desktop of the computer, I mean now we'll see that the desktop flash drive is loaded here and it shows that its contents are empty, which again doesn't matter because I mean it will check for you if there is something in there that you thought was empty.
You'll notice, oh, wait a minute, it's not empty. better make a backup now if there's anything you want we'll close this because we don't need to see the void and we'll refresh the drive list and there it is this is a Corsair 64 gig not Corsair the flash drive I'm using , I thought I had taken a 16 gigabyte, I took a 64 gigabyte, which is fine for alleffects, it doesn't really matter, it's just and I want to keep remembering that you won't be able to use it. flash drive for anything else, so I could have gotten away with spending less money by buying a smaller flash drive, but I'm just going to use this for demo purposes or maybe you won't even keep it, maybe you just need have your Windows Media USB Tool use it and then delete it and use it for something else.
Maybe you only have a flash drive. That's fine too. You can always redo it in the future when you need it. Go back to this video and reuse it. your flash drive again however regardless of whether that's the driver you select here, you'll see any USB flash drive that we've installed so I recommend that you just put one in or you might get confused about which one you're using and then we'll click Next and that more or less. they think at this point we just wait, if the memory is working properly you just sit back and wait until it finishes and it will process and create an ISO image and then put it on your USB flash drive and when it's ready you can now boot your computer . to USB and start the Windows 10 installation process.
You can also use this if you have Windows 7 or Windows 8 and while you are on Windows 7 or Windows 8 run setup from the USB flash drive and it will offer to perform an update which you don't want perform the update from a clean boot if you are running Windows 7 or Windows 8 and want to perform the update, use the tool that I just showed you and select the option to update this PC now or you can do the media like I am showing you now and connect This media to your Windows 7 or Windows 8 computer and run the setup from your Windows 7 or Windows 8 desktop and you will see this move pretty quickly.
I want to emphasize For you, downloading Windows 10 and creating this multimedia tool is perfectly legal. Microsoft wants you to use it, they want you to have it, plus they want you to buy a product key, so what they are going to do is make Windows 10. A little annoying to use and until you buy a product key, but it will still work and if you don't mind the hassle, you'll never have to pay for it and it's perfectly legal, that said, when upgrading from Windows 7 or Windows. 8, you can upgrade to the same version, so Windows 7 main to Windows 10 main, Windows 7 pro to Windows 10 Pro when it comes to 32 bit or 64 bit, I'm not sure, I think you would have to do a clean install.
To go from 32-bit to 64-bit because nothing is compatible you have to completely reinstall the operating system from scratch and whether or not those product keys will work from Windows 7 and 8 in a 32-bit version to a 64-bit one, I have not been told. tested so I'm not sure so we're about 50% through this process now and this is all being done live in real time to give you an idea of what to expect if you were to go through this and try it. this yourself and while that happens I think I can put my camera back where is my camera?
There I am and I'll put myself here yes, that works for me. Fritz contributed $2. Thank you so much. Patrick left me. I know Asrock came. With a new BIOS for this system behind me, it's good to know we can do that too if times permit. We are at 99 percent progress. Now we're back to zero. So what you did was you downloaded Windows 10, which is over 4 gigs, about four and a half five gigs, so you checked the download and now you're taking the file and you're moving it to the flash drive, so if I look at the flash drive light, it's probably blinking there as the flash drive is now writing the file and that's why the flash drive should be a minimum of eight gigs because we're going to use about five and they don't sell five gigs, everything is on multiples of two 2 4 8 16 32 64 128 256 512 1024 2048 4096 90 128 yada yada yada yada yada I think those numbers are correct I don't know once it starts growing I need a calculator but anyway this only takes a few moments, It's really not a big deal and you can reuse this flash drive over and over again to install Windows 10 whenever a new version of Windows 10 comes out in the spring and fall.
I suggest you follow this process and make a new bootable installation media because if you don't you will have to download that big update to update it so this will save you a step if you do this about every 6 months if you are going to maintain one loaded otherwise, like I said, if you only have a flash drive, do this when you need it, erase it when you're done, use it for other things when you need it again, rinse and repeat so you don't have to keep it forever. You don't have to dedicate a flash drive to it forever, just dedicate it long enough for when you need it and be sure to update it;
You don't want to install an older version of Windows and then make updates that waste your time when you could have updated it for free and you will follow exactly the same method except that the file you download will be an updated file but it will be transparent to you, It's going to be the same process, it's going to look the same except when you install it, it's going to be a newer version, so I hope it's clear that now we're 90%, 99% done and that's it, so we can click finish, that's it. That's all there is to do now.
Many people are confused about how to get their computer to start booting from a USB flash drive and I wish I could tell them that there is only one way that everyone can follow, but unfortunately with some manufacturers you press F10, others you press F12 and others you press F8. others enter the BIOS by pressing delete or f2 or you know there are all kinds of different ways manufacturers will run that process. If you already have Windows 10 installed, you can tell Windows 10 to boot on the next boot from a bootable flash drive, but that doesn't make sense why you would do that, why you would install Windows 10 when you already have it.
Windows 10 has built in tools to handle all of this automatically without needing to do this so I can just show you on the hardware that I have here so this is an AZ rock board and what I'm going to do is tell it I want the ace rock board in the BIOS, but once you are in the BIOS and however you need to enter your BIOS, you will go to where it says boot or save and exit and somewhere in there there should be options for where you want your computer to boot for a single boot , so if I try it now I don't know how it will work.
Come on, but let's try it. I have fast boot enabled on the system, which is why it boots so fast and makes it almost impossible to get into the BIOS fast enough. You have to press the right key now for asrock and msi, asus and gigabyte, if you are a home builder and you have a desktop computer, you know this is the same process with a laptop, but when we talk about the process of entering the BIOS , all major motherboard manufacturers before me. I just mentioned that you can press Delete over and over again before the Windows logo appears.
What you have to do is keep pressing the Delete key until you enter that BIOS. I will try it now to make it successful, but to increase my chances. a little better, I'll choose a complete shutdown instead of a reboot because the reboot happens even faster once all these lights go off. I'll know the system is off, there it goes, now I can turn it back on and immediately start hitting delete. Right away you can hear that the hidden air conditioning repeatedly still didn't happen fast enough and this is where you can get into trouble because getting into the BIOS can be a little tricky now that Rock has a utility you can download. on your motherboard drivers page you have a small utility to restart the computer in UEFI mode and Windows 10 also has that option and I'm just going to show you how to do it with Windows 10, otherwise we just have to keep repeating this until we know that you can even hold down the button and try different things so you can get in.
If you turn off fastboot, it will be much easier to access the BIOS, but the point of fastboot is that it eliminates that delay in searching. for that BIOS key to speed up the boot time and as you can see it works very very well but what can I do if I go to the control panel in Windows 10 if I go to the gear if I click? on the home button click on this gear where it says settings and I'm going to go to update and security and then I want to go to recovery here on the left side then I want to reboot now into advanced startup reboot now now it won't reboot don't let Don't let this fool you, now we want to click on use a device, use a USB drive network connection or a Windows recovery DVD, so what do you want to use?
I want to use a UEFI removable device, we are not going to do that. we boot from the network and we are not going to boot from a CD or DVD, we want to boot from the UEFI USB flash drive and now it should reboot and boot automatically from that flash drive and we should see the Windows 10 installation options appear. Then you will see that It slowed down a bit and let's see if I'm right if it boots into Windows or boots now. Let's see how it boots into the Windows Media installation, which is our USB.
It's that simple now when it comes to how. Let's go into the BIOS another way, like let's say you have Windows 7, you can't do that, you don't have an Ace Rock board, so you don't have the option, let's say I'm downloading a piece of software to reboot into UEFI. I can hold down the power button until the machine turns off. Here it is, turn it back on. Remember I always do this from off and I'll just hold down the delete button and see. If that helps at all, I always try different things. You can see that the bottom right corner tells us to press F2.
I think that's what it says there or delete to enter the BIOS. By holding down the button that took us, I can now go. in the BIOS down here and again your BIOS will probably look different than this unless you have an AZ rock board, but they are all basically the same, you don't have to be a robot, you have to use your eyes and you have to read the options on your screen. If you are not willing to do it, you will send me an email saying I can't. I don't know how to do it and I can't help you because I can't see. the unique hardware you have and if you can't see it when it's right in front of you, I don't know how you think I can help you, what you can do is contact the manufacturer's email or call their support or Google. and find out how other people are booting on the same hardware as you.
I do not know what else to tell you. Every manufacturer does it a little differently and certainly with laptops it can be a lot more complicated, but at least if you have your own desktop that you built, not a pre-built machine, but when you built it it probably had a gigabyte Asus MSI or like rock is your motherboard and if you have it, it's going to be very, very similar to what I'm about to show you, so when you look at the screen, in fact, let me make this bigger so you see the full screen on my side, here we go, we look here, we are on a basic screen, we are not on the advanced screen and it shows because there are very few options. here for us and if you look in the top right corner up here, my mouse is going to work, there's my mouse, if you look up here, it says Advanced Mode f6 now, when the gigabyte boards are Asus boards that are normally made in the bottom of the screen, but whatever that means, we can click on that with the mouse or we can press f6 on the keyboard specifically with this motherboard, so I'm going to press f6 now, if we go all the way to the right, you'll see all these options at the top it says main OC Tweaker advanced tool hardware monitor security boot guess which one we want to boot and when booting there are these options there is the fast boot that's why everything boots so fast we can change our boot option here but that changes it permanently if we only want to do this once then this isn't even the section even though it should be.
I thought it would be here but this doesn't deter me. I just know I'm on the wrong screen so I'll go to exit and often you'll find this on the exit where the options are to save and exit your BIOS like you see here and usually at least on gigabyte asus and asrock boards and I think on msi you will see boot override listed. Here again, you would think it would be on boot, but it usually shows up in the save and exit area and now you can choose two different boot options: our Intel SSD and Vimy drive or our SanDisk, which is the USB flash drive, and if I click on SanDisk twice, the machine will now try to boot from there just this one time and I'll demonstrate it to you because once the Windows 10 media boots, which is there, I'll hold down the power button. it will turn off and then I will press the power button again leaving the flash drive on it, it won't boot now it will now boot to the internal drive and this is important because after installing

windows

it has to reboot to finish. installation, but if it continues, if you have set it to boot automatically in theunit, it will just go into a circle and start the whole installation again with the main screen, what language do you want?
It doesn't undo anything. at that time turn off the computer and remove your flash drive and then turn it back on and then the installation can be completed when you boot from the process from the internal drive you are installing it on or you can go into your BIOS and make that change to boot first on the other drive, so there's a difference between changing the boot order permanently and just a temporary boot override and again, if you remove the drive, that's another way to solve it, at least until you plug the drive in. I get back in at some point in the future and boot from there accidentally, but that's it, it's really super, super simple, perfectly, 100 percent legal every time, it's not complicated, it's not rocket surgery, it's like I just showed you, very, very. simple, now let's talk about how to update BIOS on Asrock motherboard again.
The way to update the BIOS varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Asrock has this tool where instead of going to the Asrock site, you download the BIOS and put it on a flash drive. The flash drive usually has to be formatted in fat32 or you won't see all this other stuff. You want to use a small flash drive because fat32 only sees up to four gigs anyway, they see it all gets complicated so asrock thought well how can we make this easier for our customers and this is what they did? Once again, let's start again in the BIOS and I'll repeat the same thing I did, which is go to settings to update in security to reboot recovery now and I want to troubleshoot Advanced Options and UEFI firmware settings, so it says that you want to reboot to change the UEFI firmware settings.
Yeah, I looked through it pretty quickly, but this is YouTube. They have a pause button and a rewind button and they can run it. Set your own speed as many times as needed, now it will reboot into the BIOS without me touching a button which is fantastic, super easy if I want to check for a new BIOS and if I have a standard internet connection like you have the people at home. all IP addresses and everything is automatically delivered by your router, so unless you're one of those people who knows you've done some customization, you probably don't need me to explain any of this to you.
You already know how to update your BIOS, so for the rest of us to update the BIOS, we'll go to f6 again, in the top right corner it says Advanced Mode and then we'll go to where it says tool, at the top right of the page. up here and we want the UEFI update utility, there's instant flash, meaning if we want to copy it to a flash drive and do it locally and then there's internet flash, then we're going to do internet flash and what that's going to do now is get a IP address of a wired Ethernet connection that is wireless, it has to be a wired Ethernet connection to your router.
This is normally something that happens in Windows, but we're not in Windows, we're in your BIOS, so we'll let the BIOS communicate and get an IP address from your router. This may take a couple of minutes again. It is not as fast as Windows. You will also see that there is a QR code in the lower right corner of the screen that you can use your smartphone to access. to the website directly. I don't use QR codes, but if that's something you want to do, that's why it's there, so we're going to wait for this to initialize and hopefully it won't take much longer.
I mean, this is taking longer. make the damn Windows 10 installation media, but what it does is remove all the guesswork, you don't need to find the right motherboard and the right BIOS for that board, not that it's very difficult, but this is even easier than that because I automatically go and recognize if there is a new update compared to the one you have, while I do it as a human being as a technician I use my brain and look at the version that I have and the version that is available and I can determine as a human being within a relatively short period of time, if the version available is new, that said for some people it's apparently asking too much, by doing this, this does all that for you, but you probably would have already done it.
Honestly, it would be over by now, so we'll let this go on a little longer and see if it's going to come in. I shouldn't take this. This is ridiculous, yes, it clearly has a problem, so let's try again, sometimes you just repeat it even though we haven't changed anything, we'll try it one more time, like doing anything now, yes, and I want to emphasize that Rock did This made it easier, but it requires a lot more patience. One of the things I like about the way I work is that I work at my speed and not at this speed, like sitting here watching how this works. 0% is crazy.
I know I'm connected to the network so this should work and if not we'll do it the old fashioned way which is just go to the Rocks website, search for Phantom Gaming 7 motherboard, click on the bio section , we have BIOS version 1.2. I understand that version 1.3 is already available, we will download it to the streaming computer it copies to the flash drive or in fact we could do everything on this machine now and I think about it because we have Windows, I usually do the BIOS update before to install Windows, which this machine already had. The latest version at that time was 1.2.
Every time you check your BIOS, you should see your current BIOS listed, so if you're looking at the BIOS and it says you're on version 80, that's like you might say a corner of Intel and your BIOS. the version is cff as if they don't even have the same format. What you want to do when you look at the latest bio will show you the previous bios and you will want to review the previous bios to see if a number matches the number you have. If not, you're probably looking at the wrong motherboard and you'll save yourself some time.
I'm done waiting for this. This is ridiculous. I'll try it one more time. Turn this off. Turn it back on. I'm going to hold down. Delete key pressed, let's go into the BIOS one more time, maybe if you let me, f6, go to the tool, go to the Internet, flash and see if maybe this time it will cooperate in one last chance for asrock to show it to us. its amazing technology here oh oh its moving so much better this time this is more what i expected to see the first time and it says my firmware version is up to date, is it or not?
This is what I don't like about automation, I keep telling them that automating things is a big mistake unless they are in a constantly audited and monitored place, I just don't have that faith. I don't think our firmware version is up to date. Not really. I think that's true, so I'll click OK and we'll get out of here and back to Windows. We don't have to save any changes here. We're just going to go back to Windows and I'll see how fast this machine boots up, it's incredibly fast okay so I'm going to check just to see if they're lying to me so I'm going to go back to Google again and type. the name, manufacturer and model of this motherboard, which is like a rock and is a Phantom Gaming Seven, that's all I have to write and the first link that appears, you see, will take us to Azra comm forward slash Intel z3 90 fan. and games on that's the link we want, that's why I like Google.
The first link is the one you want now up here you'll see it says support and I don't know why a suit and a gigabyte all these guys do this. that's not the support you want, that's generic support for asrock, we want specific support for this product, it's at the bottom, we click on support, then we go to BIOS and it says the current BIOS version is 1.3, well, What version of BIOS do I have? minimize this and we will open cpu-z now cpu-z is available for download just go to google type CPU Z and download the zip file it will run the 64 bit version it is portable there is nothing to install in the zip version and then when this starts , it will give us all the information of our hardware, so our CPU is our cache and then of course what we want is the motherboard under the motherboard, we look in the BIOS version, it is P 1.2, the site asrock website said it's 1.3 and the BIOS that went into the UEFI BIOS and checked it for us said we were updated with 1.2 so he lied so we'll just download the instant flash version, we can do it through Windows;
I usually don't do it. this, but let's try it because we can, you will see that you can update via flash internet, that is, we download the file, copy it to a flash drive, reset the BIOS and then manually point it to the file we downloaded and let it update. this requires less knowledge just download the

windows

file and run it inside windows so we can save it first then open it we will close the browser and run the executable file which is asrama XE oh first we have to extract everything. so we'll say extract all and it will put everything in the Downloads folder.
Now we run as rom exe and we can click YES. Now it says that before updating the BIOS, close all applications and make sure not to overclock your system. Do you want to continue well, we just did a clean installation running in the background. I don't have Word Excel or Outlook or the browser, there's nothing open, we have a couple of windows open, but that's okay, we can leave them open or we can close both. It doesn't matter, I can close CPU-Z, it's a good idea to close everything and then press OK. Now it will read the flash that we have basically in what appears to be a DOS window and say that the system is going to shut down.
Are you ready? Press Y for yes. Press n for no. We will press the letter Y. Now it is important that you keep your hands out of everything. do your thing, if you interrupt this process you can brick your machine and make it completely unusable, so it is very important, but if you are one of those people who ask to press buttons, you should walk away for a couple of minutes, otherwise, if Well behaved, sit on your hands and watch until you are ready. Now this can take longer on other boards than other motherboards and there are different processes like on most HP and Dell.
It will update your BIOS like this, it won't update it. the way I show on gigabyte and Asus where the file is placed on a flash drive because they are dealing with end users and they can't trust an end user to follow the instructions, as long as the end user downloads the correct file the file will check. why you read the BIOS before starting. I wanted to make sure we weren't trying to flash the wrong BIOS. If we had the wrong BIOS, it would have stopped and said no, you have the wrong files that are not compatible with your hardware.
Now in the old days I would have tried flashing it and that is why you will still hear people today saying "oh this is dangerous and you should be careful". Those are the people who existed in the past like me, and they haven't. We embrace technology today and the way it has evolved, it has come a long way so we are no longer running an 86 and if anyone tells you they would be careful updating your BIOS just let them know we are not running a 486 as well be. Okay, now the machine turned off automatically. I haven't touched anything.
I'm not panicking because I know this is what I'm supposed to do again. Don't intervene, leave it alone, it will start itself in a moment and you will probably like having it. a moment of oh but look look it came back now some systems can reboot once or twice or three times so you just did it again okay leave it alone it's normal for your system to make someone else's system It only reboots once it is written to the motherboard, the manufacturer and the way they implemented it according to some prejudices are more complicated than others, which completes the process now, many times a popup will appear once it is finished to boot and it will say Congratulations, the BIOS update was successful or not.
Not all manufacturers do that. I'm being patient here just to see if that shows up but I'm not saying so the way I can check is to go back to cpu-z again which is the right thing to do. here and we will just check the motherboard BIOS version now without running CPU CPU ID comm is where you get CPU Z without running you could hold down the delete key manually and go search in the BIOS to find the version. I just think this is faster and easier so we'll click on the motherboard tab and we should see version 1.3 instead of 1.2 and you can see the date is much closer to today than the previous one, that's right Since we know it is newer, it is a larger number. a more recent date is that easy later than that easy so this was all done live without a script.
I never know what's going to happen, but you can see it with the confidence I have in the number of times I've done this in the last almost 30 years. The big fuss people make on the Internet is not justified based on what you have seen with your own eyes right now. It's really that simple, so I'm going to address any questions that people have here in the chat room and then we're going to We're done with this for today, so let me go ahead and turn this off. We are done with this machine, so we will closethis and we will choose to turn off and go ahead and put your question in the chat.
I will do the best I can. to respond you will see how quickly it even turns off. You seem to click. I love it. I love it. I love it. He'll let me do that Benten Stout contributed $5 and says have a happy new year. I read a very interesting article in Forbes today about the latest Windows 10 update in November and there is always something to write about. Remember that journalists must have something to write about. That's how they make a living, so just because there's an article about Windows 10 doesn't mean it's anything special, it's just another day in the publishing business and tomorrow that guy, that journalist, is going to have to think about something else about it. to write, so keep that in mind.
I don't even know what the articles are about. I don't care because nothing important happens with Windows 10 with the previous update. Again, if I were a journalist who had to write about something, I guess it's something to talk about, but it's not. really critical or important in my opinion hello to all my friends in blue in the chat. Sorry I didn't recognize you before, we got stabbed and on the Hewitt minute Steve Larkin Trotman Charlie Chan Mitchell Morrison joins us. I know that guy Patrick. mannySheeran idle air there's a guys advantage Chris chases Shayne King Scott Hallinan and Carl Wilson Vern Mahoney and who else do we have here we have Oh Billy Xue contributed seven Australian dollars has seven says awesome tutorial hey Thanks Billy trying to keep things simple, keep it simple Jason Bomb and Randy ruff welcome guys John Craig of course welcome to Jon and DJ Matrix Jim eNOS contributed five dollars says Carrie can you use this Windows 10 media to reinstall Windows 10 without losing apps or data?
You don't have to do that if you want to fix your Windows 10. This is the traditional way to do it if you have Windows 10 now and are having any problems. Windows 10 has its own built-in tools that you can I don't need this, the only time you would need it is if your Windows 10 won't boot like your system won't boot but if it does boot you can use its own repair tools. Windows zone repair tools Windows 10 to fix it. We'll show you that this is only if your Windows won't start, so either you don't have a window or the Windows 10 you have won't access the desktop for some reason, then it will boot from this, that's why we're doing it, you might as well As I mentioned, use this to upgrade Windows 7 or 8 to the current version of Windows 10 and you will keep all your apps and all your data.
You won't lose anything unless something is not supported and it will. I tell you that before it starts and then you can decide I don't want to continue also if you install Windows 10 it has an upgrade to Windows 7 or 8 and you decide you don't like it you have 30 days to rewind it and put it back to how it was. I never do that. I would make an Acronis image or clone of my Windows 7 or 8 drive right before installing Windows 10, so instead of uninstalling Windows 10 I could restore my image much faster without any hesitation. of something breaking because sometimes it's rare, but it happens to fail, as long as you have your backup, which you should always have anyway, but make that backup right before and use that as your safety net and then forget about the 30 days you have. as long as you keep the backup to come back to it anytime you want, then this is something you know, what you need to do to protect yourself is up to you, well let's say we had a problem with Windows 10, but Windows 10 still starts correctly. so let's restart this one more time and say Windows 10 has some kind of strange problem, I don't know, I mean, we think maybe if we reinstall Windows 10 on top of itself it will fix it fine, it doesn't.
I need to do this all that needs to be done that is already part of Windows 10 this is how the operating system has evolved over time this is not Windows XP this is not Windows 7 this is not Windows 8 this is Windows 10 friends this works in a different way and a Many of the problems we have had over the last 25 years with Windows have been resolved or solved, not all, but many, and one of them was the idea that it had to be reinstalled. Very rarely does a reinstall fix a problem. The Windows problem these days with Windows 10 is very, very rare, plus the reliability of the motherboard, the reliable power supply, everything is much more reliable today than it was 10, 15, 20 years ago, so the The amount of repairs I have to do is much less, but what I do.
I have to do more is attack the configuration side of things, migrate data or address printers not working, computers not connecting to the network, those types of problems will always exist and will always be a job for an IT technician and Yes , I still have bad power supplies and bad motherboards, but it doesn't happen as often as it used to and there are a number of reasons for it that I'm not going to go into because I'm going to show you. now how to get Windows to fix itself if you go to the settings option here and go back to update and security and go back to recovery and then you can choose to reset this PC, that's the option I was ignoring because I didn't mean to.
To cover this, I was just going to show you how to create Windows 10 media, but what the heck? Let's show you everything. Put it all there to say that if your PC is not working well, restarting it can help. This allows you to choose. keep your personal files or delete them and then reinstall Windows, it starts, you say what you want to do, you want to keep your files, that will delete your programs, but it will keep your files and do a clean, fresh installation of Windows. when it's done, you're going to have to put back Word or Excel or whatever apps you use, you're going to have to put them back in, you're going to have to reinstall them afterwards, but all the data that you created with those apps, all your photos, all your music. all your Excel spreadsheets, whatever, will be left alone and that's the point.
Look, all that can't be replaced. You can always reinstall an app, even if you don't have it. Even if you have to buy it back, you can't buy your data back. Ideally you should always have a backup and this just means that I don't really want to restore my backup. This will be easier or your computer is so ruined and you are so convinced that you have a virus that it cannot be removed. was removed you just want to delete everything and start over as if the computer was new day one, wipe it completely and then install Windows 10 as if it were a fresh build, just completely erase all your data, all your files. all your apps, those are your two options here, you're going to have to reinstall your apps or you're going to have to reinstall your apps.
The only question is whether you want to keep your data and again whether you have a backup. you can choose accordingly, so let's say I want to keep my files and it says I'm getting things ready, this won't take much time, don't worry, actually I think it will confirm with us before proceeding and it will do so. it says we want to make sure you understand what you're about to do here it says I'm ready to reset this PC what we're going to do is put all the changes back to their defaults that means all those little problems in the registry with the one you played, everything goes back to normal again, moving your Documents subdirectory to a different drive or a different default location, all of that will go back to the way it was designed by the engineers who wrote this software.
It will keep your personal files and remove all your apps and programs and list the apps and programs to be removed. It will warn you in advance when you do this, these things will disappear, so these things I added, the Intel SSD toolbox, the Intel NVME controller and Microsoft OneDrive, you know, bye, I don't care, I didn't put it in, it came through from a Windows update I guess and then if you're okay with that hit the reset button if you're not okay with that hit cancel the same way if we do the other option which is delete everything it will say preparing things and says that the current setup will simply delete your files. this is faster but less secure, you can click change settings and you can see that with this option it will wipe your disk and that means that if you ever have to send the disk to recover data, it may not be possible.
This is like a Sakura run apparently I didn't even know was coming up, but anyway you can turn it on or off and then click confirm and that will take you through the complete clean with a new clean. Install Windows 10 as if you brought the computer home from the store or built it for the first time. All your sound history will be erased. All your data. All your programs. In the same way, you could do it from the creation of the tool. and booting from there you can erase the partitions on the drive and then start over if you want, so with a computer there are always several ways to accomplish the same task, but it seems like you are going out of your way and using a flash drive and create something when all you have to do is click a few buttons within Windows 10, if your Windows 10 won't boot then you will have no choice but to boot from a recovery or bootable media to do repairs or media. installation and you will see that Windows also has its own backup tools.
I mean, when you go here, all you don't need to buy a Cronus, you can use Windows backup. The problem with Windows backup is that it doesn't. I have no options for you, like Cronus does, there are no compression algorithms or encryption, you just run it and it's free and it's basic, but it's better than nothing and what else am I forgetting here? I think that's it, there are more recovery options. learn how to start over with a clean install of Windows we click that way to do it, okay, we'll let you do it again start over start over with a clean, updated installation of Windows start over, well, it's the same thing What this will keep is your personal files and some window settings and will remove most of your applications including Microsoft Office third party antivirus will be removed and the desktop applications that came pre-installed on your pre-built computer will also be removed if you click get more, it will take you to this web link that will explain all this.
You can read it if you want and again, if we click start and click yes, it says this will remove all applications and programs. except for those that come standard with Windows like Microsoft Paint, things like that, your device will be updated to the latest version of Windows and this could take twenty minutes or more depending on your device and we can click Next and it says this won't happen. It won't take long, I warn you that this is your last attempt to get out of this if this is not what you want to do, that's why I went ahead and clicked on this bar because I don't want to redo this, although it is a clean install and new. and I can do it again I don't want to and it says I just want to remind you of these other things that we're taking off and now you can press cancel or next, which in my opinion should continue, not next, but continue. okay, you hit cancel and just follow the screens to the end and bada-boom bada-bing, you're done, save yourself paying a technician or Geek Squad to do it when you can do it yourself.
Jim Innes, thanks for the question and contribution to the channel I want to remind you that the internet is a great place to answer any questions you have if I'm not around or if you don't get my attention in the chat room type your question into Google or even search from YouTube, there are other fantastic YouTube content creators that will have videos demonstrating how to remove certain types of viruses without reinstalling them or different ways to reinstall theirs, like I say at least three different ways right off the bat. off the top of my head to make a bootable flash drive for Windows 10 installations and there's probably more to it than that that I don't know, if I really wanted to know and looked for it I'd probably find some other ways to do it, so if you find a video that tells you how to do it, it doesn't look right or it doesn't feel right or it's not clear to you go back to the search results and click next and repeat until you find one that makes sense Try it and see how it works and see where each takes you Every time I do any work on a computer that is a client's computer.
Always make sure you have a backup or work with a temporary hard drive. Drives are so cheap these days that Many times I find myself working on a client's computer, like that black and white computer I had or the Corsair 780 in the big case. I disconnected all hard drives that belonged to the client and took a new, clean hard drive. or one that is what we call a temporary unit that I can use to experiment, plug it in. I loaded new, clean Windows 10 on it and then I can diagnose from that and know that there are no software related issues that the clientyou may have with some programs you have installed or viruses you may have, so I removed the client software from the equation and at the same time I am not messing with any client software and risking losing it if I was going to do that and then make a copy security with the Kronus and I would put it on one of my flash drives like I have a couple of these 256 gig flash drives, if the customer goes further than that, I have these homemade MDOT 2 SATA USB Drives, this one is 500 gigs if it's bigger than that, by the way, they're up to 2 terabytes in size, so you could buy a $200 or 2 terabyte drive to put there m2 santé, I mean, if the customers got more than 2 terabytes of data , then it would have to go to a mechanical drive and it would take a long time to backup; however, without that backup you are walking a tightrope without a network, so if I have to let it run overnight and then the repairs will wait until the backup is done and always check your backups.
It is essential that you check in a Cronus or any software that after making the backup there is usually a button that says verify or test my backup, always verify. which will add a few minutes to the time it takes, it's worth it Shayne King says hello friend, Merry Christmas and a happy belated New Year. Thanks Shane, again my friend Glyn Davies says I'll never be able to shake my worries about updating a BIOS. on a PC that has no problems, yeah, well that's wine, there's nothing wrong with that, look, the thing is, I don't have to support you, you're not going to call me when you have a problem with the computer, they could be 8 o'clock.
Monday morning that could be a great way to start my week and the problem is solved by updating your BIOS, let's say whether you choose to update your BIOS or not it has no effect on me and if you don't want to do it please don't do it . I do it because I'm trying to stay in business and I want my customers to have the best experience possible, so I have different motivations than you. I'm not telling you what to do, please don't think I'm telling you. what to do I'm explaining to you what I do and why I do it and if that doesn't sit well with you then you know with the information and I offer you a lot of information take what you want leave the rest it's all good Philip Drake contributed $2 says hi Keri and the little dog say Thanks Philip what cooler is it in this case this is the Silverstone PF 240 liquid cooler this is Silverstone's first introduction to liquid cooling it is an all in one cooler and it has really cool LED fans on They need better installation instructions as well They sent me another one of these.
It is available in size 140, 240 and 360. 240 is the most common size, it is the size most people buy and the question is making sure your case can accommodate a 240 millimeter or 360 or 140 radiator, whichever Whatever size you buy, the bigger the radiator the better it cools, the more expensive it will be and of course the bigger the case you'll have to put it in, so it's a fantastic cooler. I am very, very happy with him and with you. I will watch another video with this heatsink installed on another machine. In fact, it is the coldest heatsink I have ever seen.
I have never seen a CPU running as cold as the CPU running on this motherboard with this cooler and I can't. Beats how pretty it is, it's very uniform. The ram is changing color in the same sequence. I didn't even notice that the other day, but if you look at how it spins, this becomes like, right now, it's blue and this matches. exactly and then the RAM also matches but I can't understand if it is moving this way or this way in the RAM but I can see the same colors in the RAM appearing in sequence with the same colors in them that is this .
I didn't do that on purpose, it just so happens to speak the RGB language that this motherboard communicates with. I guess, for lack of a more technical term, I thought it was random, but it seems to be in sequence with everything else. that turned purple that turned purple that's green that's green that's blue that's blue that's purple again that's purple on the clock that corner over there and how it lines up with that cooler right there in fact you probably can't see it alright because the brightness is too high, let me zoom in a little bit closer and then let me lower the gain on the video and then you should be able to see those colors really pop, yeah, I didn't even realize that Ram was sequencing with everything else. that's great because I haven't installed any software and you can control the RGB through software with asrock software or you can go into BIOS with some preset modes and just change it in BIOS, you can make it flash or stay static or turn on. off or breathe or yeah, then it's fading from one color to another, you could have it, you know, bluntly changing colors, which I like, fading into different colors, I think it's cool, stupid, but it's like a lot of things Stupid people who are great, do you recommend changing a legacy?
BIOS to UEFI on a gigabyte motherboard if you are going to run windows 7 8 or 10 on it yes but the motherboard is a pretty old z77 chipset because we have had since d7 we have had z87 z97 z170 SZ 270 z3 70c 390, so there's your six generations behind it, which puts you on a system that's probably about 12 years old, maybe a little bit older than that and sometimes it's time to recycle them or put them on Linux and give them an easier life, so at this point it's really up to you if you want to go to UEFI to see if you can get a little more life out of it if you've been running it for the last 12 years without it.
I don't think you see it. It's a big improvement personally, but that's up to you, certain things you won't be able to do until you update UEFI. If I have to explain to you what those things are that you don't need them no matter how much RAM. modules you have, it doesn't matter if you have one or two, that has nothing to do with 32 bit versus 64 bit, there is false information in one of my moderators' chat room, that's not how Ram works, it's a mathematical question . 32 bits is 2 to the power of 2 32 times, which brings you to a mathematical limitation of over 4 million, that's your four gigabit limitation.
It's called mathematics. With 64 bits you can go from 2 to the power of 64, so 2 times 2 times 2 times. 2 times 2 64 times and that is your new RAM limit, whether it is one device or a hundred devices is irrelevant to RAM and that is why it has nothing to do with Linux or Apple, if they are 32 bit it is again 2 to the power of 32. do the math, tell me what number Leftwich gets, which you should know from your experience as Cronus given any issues with creating an image on a MDOT to nvme SSD from a SATA SSD. No, I have had no problems creating images on an internal SATA Thunderbolt USB. drives External SATA drives Drive bays Drive bases have never had any issues, which is again why you always want to check your backup after you make it.
Raphael says thanks for sharing your knowledge with us directly on Raphael, that guy gets it, thanks when Windows 11 comes out. there is no Windows 11, it will never come out. I already have a video on that, so let me show you how you can use my video, let me show you how to use YouTube, it's really cool, and you got it. What about buying on eBay? It is a good idea. It all goes on and on, in my opinion it's all great, fantastic content that many of you are missing and it's not the two hour marathons that I do, this has all been condensed, my sister does the editing she has to do. Sit there and listen to everything, listen to everything I say. She cuts out 99% of what she says to go there, she said something useful and then she edits it, puts an intro and an outro on it and then uploads it to my main channel and the computer quick tips channel now the quick tips channel for computer is your baby and we want to see it grow and become your own self-sustaining living beast, so if you are interested in the quick tips to get to the essence of please subscribe, share it with your friends and on social networks and let's grow that channel and that way we'll have something for everyone among my regular stuff as well as the quick tips, besides that there's still the Subaru repair videos, Mike and I, he's the Subaru guru, he and I will work together to show you how to completely rebuild a Subaru engine the same way I show you how to build a computer, every bolt, every wire.
I have never done it before, there is Subaru Mike, there are all the pistons, there is the block, the engine block and we will cover every bolt, every wire, if you have never done it before, you can follow us and you will have in this case, a short block , so a short block means he's not putting his heads into it and I'm doing all the filming in the editing and Mike is the guru. Mike is the knowledgeable guy here, he's been doing that for many years and Mike. It's the reason I drive a Subaru now. I still have the Mustangbut I also have a Subaru Forester and since Mike worked on it, bought it, used, had a bad engine, someone ran it dry, froze the engine, Mike fixed it, sold. for me and it has worked wonders.
I haven't even had to put tires on it, nothing and it's been over a year now, while my Chevy Blazer and my Hyundai Veloster went to a shop about every 45 days, so I'm very happy anyway. own a Subaru and I am even happier knowing that I have a person who I can trust, who knows what he is doing, who gets the job done quickly, does it well and is willing to share his knowledge with the world and, if If you're curious what the most popular videos are, you can go up here, you can go back to YouTube, you can type Carey Holzman, find a video, wow, I guess I didn't do it right, we'll type Carey Holzmann, we can click. on the main channel again down here it says home videos playlists community channel, we would click on the videos and you can go here and say I want to sort this by the most popular videos, directly by the MUNs that are most viewed, the most popular and here .
You see, I only have a couple of videos that have reached over a million views. I have how to fix a dead computer with 2.1 million hits, but you know how many years back I am, what's the difference? We need an MDOT to SATA vs NV drive that has 1.7 million hits. My scamming scammers video, which is funny if you've never seen it, has 1.2 million views and guess what's next to hit a million views? We're not there yet, but the video I just showed you from Subaru Mike shows how to go bolt by bolt, wire by wire, how to reassemble a Li Bru EJ 2.5 short block engine, will reach a million views on next, that's pretty cool and So you can get an idea of what other people are seeing, one of the videos I'm most proud of is this computer repair problem down here, it says here a computer problem, another text couldn't fix it when I made this video and posted it.
It didn't really work any different than other videos and about a year later the owner of that computer contacted me and was checking on me and whatever and I remembered we had this big video that needed to be edited and my sister recently came on board to help me with the editing the video and I called her while I was in the car and said, can you download that video, edit it and reduce it to a more reasonable time? And as soon as she did that and released it with a really nice thumbnail, it jumped to half a million views and then just Featured, but if you haven't seen it, check it out.
It's a very valuable lesson to learn about computer repair and I'm very, very proud of it and I was also very lucky. I admit that I was lucky. but the fact of the matter is that there is no reason why the video shouldn't have seventeen million views and besides, we just don't reach the people you know, people just don't find it, so that's how it is anyway how you use YouTube, this is how You can check out my video library if I'm not live, if you're wanting to spice up your life a little, there are probably a lot of videos that I made that would interest you and you just don't know how to find them. the way you do it and this will scroll over and over and this will continue.
I really heard that I'm making popcorn here. I'm showing a professional data recovery company and how they do their job and of course this is still sorted in order of popularity so everything from auto repair there's some cooking videos there's me and in Oregon I just create an intro, well he was going to make me watch the ad, no it's not there, we go sometimes, I go on vacation somewhere and I take a video on camera for a future intro like I didn't know what video I was going to go to attach. I just said. I told him I had the camera for my wife.
I'm here, hold the camera, let me do an introduction and then. and I'm just a generic, you know, hey, I'm Kerry Holzman and I'm here in Oregon and welcome to my latest video and then the titles come up, you know, I had no idea what video I was going to make, I just wanted to make it. something different, so you'll see that from time to time on my channel and you'll also get to see all the different exotic places that I visit once every three years, when I leave the house. Okay, we can close that, so there I have it.
I've wanted to talk about it for a long time. I'm glad I got it off my chest. I feel better now. David Griswolds contributed $10. She says hello. Kerry loved Saturday's live broadcast. I work all week and this is the only time I can see live. right on David, I'm glad I had this opportunity, you'll see L in the chat room. L is my sister, she's the one who does the editing and she makes all these really cool creative thumbnails, thanks Jimmy, thanks for knocking down my mic, boy look at this look. I understand now what your deal is, boy, what do you want?
Hmm, you're okay, there are videos of dogs walking and there are also videos of dogs on there just for people who enjoy the serenity and zen of watching a dog laying in the yard with the wind blowing through its fur I have your face no I got your face it's mine now it's my face you're so sad look at your eyes so you just shook my hand and then you put your head under even though Blaine's in jail I hear Blaine, I guess it's Blaine's and I shout good boy, good boy boy, okay, I'm going to name the dogs, click and bait, that's what I think I should do.
This is click, looks like okay, final questions or I'm going to wrap up. There, we've been at this for about an hour and a half and I have to go. David says he's saying it's cookie time, those are the only words he knows, so yeah, so L is in the chat room. L is my sister, if you want to congratulate. her or encourage her auden edits and thumbnails, you can talk, read to her right now in that chat room, a few people have asked me, Carrie, how do I get into your chat room when you watch my videos when they're actually live?
There is a chat room, right? there if you are not watching the chat room then you are not watching the live video after the videos are made live YouTube processes them and then makes them available like any other video so if you are watching a video titled live, okay. the beginning of the video I say the day I say hello, I'm Carrie Oldsman today and one of the reasons I do it is to help people determine if they're watching live or not, but ultimately, if they're not watching the chat room there, then you are not watching a live video, it is something that may have been recorded live that same day if it turns out to be the same, as I say today in January 2020, but right now it is 355 in the afternoon. and now you're watching this let's say at 10:00 p.m. my time in six hours I won't be live anymore you're watching something I recorded earlier in the day and you'll see the chat room replay but you won't be able to participate and that's the only secret there is to catching me live now I hope this year This is the year I hope to have a studio and I will have a regular work schedule so you know exactly what time I will be live at least two days a week.
I haven't figured out what the schedule will be, but there will be a schedule, so you won't have to guess now because I'm doing a lot of different things. I'm trying to balance everything and sorting, and through sorting I have to prioritize what needs my attention. Right now and when I can do a live video and I have to balance all of that and that's why they come and go, you know, one week I might do a video a day every day, another week I might have a cold. or I may have a situation with a client that takes up my time, that is my priority and I don't have time to go back and film after that, there are many reasons why videos are not made currently and again in 2020 I hope. to address that in a way in a way to eliminate the confusion, you know, while I'm watching a live video, well, I don't change the title, it was live, so I apologize because YouTube makes that so confusing.
Benj Trout contributed five dollars, Carey says. I'm glad you corrected me on things he was misinformed about. I appreciate your corrections. Thanks Ben, yeah, I just don't like it when people say things like facts that aren't facts and You're not an expert, it's okay to ask, it's okay to preface what you say by prefacing what you say, I understand you know that. and then of course follow it, but when you don't preface it with that, then it looks like you're an expert. and you're telling someone else who potentially knows less than you and that's why they admire you and believe you and it's dangerous, no matter how smart you think I am, there are guys much smarter than me who I admire. and there are times where I misspeak or mix up my facts because it's live and it's unscripted and I just hate it when I do that, but you know I'm my own worst critic because I'm like, oh, I have a, I have to fix it, I'm doing exactly what which sometimes I tell other people not to do because I work from the script, so I always advise all my viewers to verify all information, whether it comes from me or someone else, to find another source of that information . and ideally find an official source.
Someone say Microsoft will release Windows 11. Don't point me to a video on YouTube that's fake. Direct me to a Microsoft website with the product launch you know about, with the PR release and the PR. company that will be marketing this as well due to some generous contributions that have come in. I made what I will call a frivolous purchase. One of the things I want to do this year is start making videos for content that it seems like you want to see although it doesn't make any sense to me. For example, I just ordered an AMD 39 50 X 750 dollars plus VAT processor, I think that was one thing. like eight hundred and twenty eight hundred and thirty dollars for a chip and I need to choose a x5 70 board.
If you have a good x5 70 board, can you recommend it with a good RGB, let me know in the comments section below the video and I will consider it. I want a good chip. Plate x5 70, this will go into a Be Quiet Pure Bass 600 window box. I don't know what I'll do as a power supply yet, but I'll use that Trident Royals II glass-lit RAM and throw it in, you know, like a Samsung 970 Pro Plus or Evo plus and it's just ridiculous and stupid and overkill to the gills and then I'll probably I will offer it for sale to someone who wants to buy it for the cost of the parts and I know it. that that video will get more views than a how-to video that you would actually consider purchasing.
I don't understand why this works this way. I don't know why a review of a Ferrari that you can never have and can never afford. that you will never buy will get more views than a review of a Chevy Cruze that is affordable and that you know you would really benefit from having the information to consider when buying a car. The Chevy Cruze video which is practical will get so many views and the Ferrari video will get so many so in that sense I will build the xenos g3 with the Intel Core i 999 hundred KS with the Trident Z royal Ram.
I will fill all the weak ones, hold on to it, so stupid, oh and with that AMD 3950. We will use the same cooler here, we will use the Silverstone PF 240 cooler and I am also going to explain how to install in the south the Silverstone PF 240 rj liquid cooler RGB, which is all in one. It's all sealed, you don't have to do it and I'm going to speak well. I've already talked to the gentlemen I mentioned, who do custom mods, like extremely custom things, way beyond what I do as far as building computers. and he takes it to another level by making 3D prints and modifying cases to fit certain themes and let's say he and I are about the same age, he and I grew up with arcade machines and it would be great for him to investigate delving into his creative side and build something I can use is my new transmitter which has an 80's arcade theme the only question is can I afford it so him and I will talk more about that next and then I will have him film the making maybe we can run it in time lapse, you know, so it's not an instructional video, it's just going to be something to watch and I suspect that's going to generate a lot of views, so instead of doing all the educational stuff that I think.
It is beneficial, useful and practical when I get so many views. I'll have a video of a cat singing and I'll get a million views. Don't know. I will continue making the same videos I have always made. but I'm going to put more attention and effort into over-the-top, ridiculous builds at least two or three times a year if I can afford it and then I'll probably offer those builds for sale at cost to recoup the cost of what it's going to do and we'll see what kind of numbers. views and new subscribers I get. I don't really want to please, but at the same time, if that's what I have to do, if that's what people want, let's do it. you think about that festival.
The Elvis paint the case with art, no, no, he will completely customize the case, they will cut it, punch it, glue it, 3D print it and modify it, and he won't even do it if you watch some of the videos of him. Which I showed you in an editionformer. I'll show them to you again here. Let me show you the kind of work this guy does. I'm sure many of you have seen this before, but we probably have some new viewers here. Where is Carrie? here they are connected to the server. No, maybe I already deleted it.
It looks like Wade deleted it, but if you go to YouTube when you search for Metro Exodus here, I can put a link in the chat room for you guys and you can watch the video instead of me rebroadcasting it anyway, it would be better for him to get the viewing numbers, let's go to YouTube and then we'll do Metro Metro. I guess that's not enough of an invoice to build a computer, there it is, so I'll copy it. that link and metro, so that's the link to the well, he had my back. I couldn't see what I was typing, but Metro Exodus, the fork, is a custom build.
This is the kind of work this guy is capable of doing. He's amazing and his name is Bill. Owen and Bill are incredibly talented and I would really like to work with him on something sometime this year. I just hope I can afford it. That's my only concern. I don't know how many hours he will have to dedicate or how much he will charge. and I don't want to scam him. I don't want him to do something for nothing. You know, I insist on paying him, so we just have to figure that part out. Irving just contributed five euros.
He said this is for Thank you for your great work with quick tips, thank you all, that's very kind of you, thank you Irving Irving posted some shared computer settings of his on my Facebook page. It has a really nice setup. It is curved and watches us from Marseille in France. He said Hi Syd, we have a The global audience here knocks and coughs has contributed $4.99 he goes here it's for the bill 3950 yes it's 39 50x I haven't chosen the motherboard so I pretty much know in which case I'm going to use the power supply , it doesn't really matter, I'll find something for that it's no big deal whether or not we choose to release a graphics card.
I mean, I'll have to put a graphics card in it because it'll be weird if I don't, so we'll put it in like a nice high-end graphics card, the g.skill royal Rick, it'll probably be somewhere in the $3,000 range. I guess I'm not exactly sure, but I'll guess correctly in the $3,000 range and then when it's built. and it's pretty and all the cable management is done. I don't use it, so I'll offer it to any viewer in the US and ship it to them. I won't even charge for shipping. I just need to get it out and I need to recoup the investment so I can reinvest in the next thing, so I think I'll give it a try and see if it works.
Glyn Davies contributed ten Australian dollars. he says here is something for your new arcade machine or your yacht you choose just one yacht Jason Baum has contributed $4.99 says I would like to see a test of the new generation because you envy me the speed since you are using X 570 great point Jason and I consider That is my intention too. I completely forgot. I'll try the new one. I'll get a you know. I know Corsair has an NVME solid state drive that has the PCI 4 spec. I know we're very early on and it's not working as well as it will in a year, the hardware that's coming out now is first generation and, As SSD manufacturers evolve that technology over the next year, I think we'll see significant changes. speed increases I'm not suggesting anyone should buy PCIe 4.0 solid state drives right now because you'll probably spend the same amount of money 12 months from now for the same capacity and it will go at least a third faster than what they do.
What we're doing today just so you know, but we're doing it because it's the pinnacle of what we can do today and that's what gets views. David Kayden contributed $10, Carey says. I use a 2 terabyte Barracuda to store games. Would you recommend something like? a Western Digital Gold company or something like that would be good for game storage as those are good amounts of storage for games. You know, it's been very difficult for me to say that I've really moved away from mechanical units. I'll tell you one of the biggest mistakes I made. What I did was tune normal drives as devices, there are Nazz, Seagate Iron Wolf and Western Digital Red Line specific drives, which ends up happening.
I guess when you put a bunch of units next to each other, the vibration they create apparently creates other problems. for surrounding drives, so these NAS drives aren't just an excuse to increase the price of the drive, they generally have a better warranty and are designed to be next to other drives that vibrate for a long period of time. you won't have the problems that end up happening with desktop drives so I've experienced desktop drives that work for a couple of years in succession and they all start to fail and maybe that's why that happens, I don't know. but since I went with my son, I have an array of drives, you would just put it in a RAID so that one drive mirrors the other with two twelve terabyte drives.
That thing has been impeccable. It's been two years and it's no longer a problem. no problem everything is perfect perfect perfect perfect I can't recommend that enough when it comes to gaming storage, desktop storage, really look at the warranty on the drive, the better the warranty on the drive the better the drive will be, there is a reason why manufacturers have higher warranties on some units and lower warranties on others, and it tells you what that reliability is, so consider that and then read the reviews and choose what size is within budget with the warranty and the speed that suits your needs and thank you David for contributing to the channel I wish I could I wish I knew you well enough and I wish I understood what your needs were and what your hardware was so I could specifically give you a make and model, but the best thing that What I can do is show you how to do it. do your own research and they are just games anyway so if the drive goes off what can I just reinstall the game and replace the drive Brendan Mooney created contributed to the pounds?
I'm not sure I've covered that contribution and seen others. and friends in the chat room, if you have an answer to these questions, please shout them out by all means when someone asks a question and you know an answer or want to offer an answer, PLEASE offer it. David Martinez says Kari I just bought a solid state drive and upgraded my dad's PC to Windows 10 and it was easy of course it's easy that's what I'm trying to say man this is super easy there is no There's no reason to be intimidated by it, there's no reason to pay someone.
I like it if you're really busy and don't have time and you trust me, which is often why people ask me to build computers. It's not that they don't feel like they can do it, they just love me. do it because they're busy and they trust the quality of my work and that's very flattering to me, but absolutely if you have the time and the only reason you don't do it is because you're afraid of being able to do it. Don't believe me you can and there are many people who can help you if you have problems.
I see Luke Greenie when he says that harmonic vibrations can be devastating. Yeah, I guess he has something to do with that look. Don't know. I'm not. a I don't know about hard drives, the way I used to focus the last few years has been on solid state drives and if I get a 12 terabyte solid state drive on mine, as you know very well, I will but that day still hasn't arrived so I realize they are available as the big solid state drives that are the price of a car when affordable to the consumer. I loved upgrading one, but in the meantime, I Seagate iron.
The 12 terabyte Wolf drives are absolute flawless Ollis and what a big difference from a 4 terabyte Seagate Barracuda or the only one I had for 3 terabyte drives and a Seagate NAS and the Seagate NAS sucks compared to the Synology and all and each one of them. Those 3 terabyte drives died, I think within the first year, and then two of them ran dry at the same time, which is why Brian, with a $300 data recovery, helped me recover my data from one of them , which was not critical. one of those things like if I could get it back I'd like to but I'm not going to pay money to do it and I was dating Brian anyway and I swear it took Brian three minutes because he has, you know, he has this. hardware that costs fifteen thousand dollars combined with some software that's probably worth $2,000 and he plugs in the drive and does all the work for you it's like I'm this is here are all your directories what do you want to go back to he's there we're Carrie and I I just bring a small Drive and I thought, oh, I wish I had brought a larger capacity Drive.
I would take it all just to carry it, but I didn't know I didn't need it. I just have all the old ones. programs from Computer America and I just wanted to save them. I don't know why I'll probably never listen to it again, but that's what was there and they weren't really important, but they're part of me and my story. I would like to keep it and they are too big or were too big to affordably put in the cloud today, I could probably put them there, but again, it's nothing I'm probably ever going to hear about again, but it's part of my story Carrie, what do you use for backups?
I use. I'll show you what I mainly use. I have a couple of different things, it depends on what I'm backing up, so I don't put anything important on mine. on mine because I don't backup mine because it's just a raid and if I get ransomware and it infects it or if someone burns down, robs my house and steals it or anything like that, you know, the data is gone, bye, so I have a couple of different ways to backup here for local backups. I like to use some laptop drives. I have lots and lots of these, they are very cheap.
You can get them. You know, four terabytes, five terabytes, two and one. Half-inch drives are USB powered - there is no separate power cord. I've had these for years. It's very rare that I ever see them not break down and I don't leave them plugged in. I plug it in, do my backup and unplug them. that's why they last so long these are all one terabyte oh this one is 2 terabytes. I put a little label on it because they all look alike and I'll make system images of them, but I'm starting to phase them out and instead I'm switching to solid state drives 2 terabyte solid state drives are very affordable now they'll cost you about $200 , which is still three times more than one of these two terabyte drives, but it's much faster and much more, I would say. much more reliable but I don't have any reliability issues so here I have a couple of actual backup drives of mine that I'm currently using so on the streaming computer I backed this up yesterday and the reason why I am using solid state because they are very fast so I am backing up a ton of data and this gets very hot so this is the brint USB enclosure for MDOT to SATA drives and I have a two terabyte SATA. probably like a blue Western Digital in there or something and then I have one of these, this is a Samsung t5 and they're a little expensive so we just have one and you plug it into the USB and you'll see the size difference right here. and this is where I backup my desktop, this is what I backup the transmitter and these are saved at home now I also have an Acronis cloud account and then I will backup cloud security on my desktop and on the transmitter So if something happens around the house, I have a secure encrypted backup in the cloud that I can fall back on, but it will take longer to restore and then of course I have my little USB flash drive, so anything like, let's say. my OBS setup has about 13 megs to download and I can put it on a flash drive.
I'll put it under the nads so it's universally available on my network if I want you to know off the cuff. At the moment I use a different computer to stream. Can. I don't have to reconfigure OBS again and then I have, where is it when companies send me these products like the beans, like I mentioned earlier, they sent me this? This is a nvme. solid state drive that has 512 gigabytes. I'll be using this for some kind of backup somewhere, again they're a little expensive, they're very very fast and if I'm going to move 500 gigs this is what I want to move it to because it'll go five times faster than those hard drives those little hard drives that I had in my hand the Seagate passport in western digital elements there are six of half a dozen of the others both cost about the same warranty and work about the same those only move data through the USB port at about 20 megabytes per second , which is pathetic.
I'm moving data back and forth to mine at 110 megabytes per second and if I'm using one of these locally on a USB 3.1 or 3.2 port I should be able to move data accordingly at 940 megabytes per second soYou can do the math, that's almost six or seven times faster than my network and also a lot faster than the little mechanical drives I'm using, but if I'm going to go back I consume a lot of data and I want to do it cheap, no necessarily fast, so I use the mechanical drives and I do it at night and I go to bed and I always check my backups, I always check them as soon as I use any backup software.
When using it, there should be an option somewhere where you check a little box that says check my backup to compare it and make sure it was done correctly. Don't wait until you need it to find your backup, but it doesn't work. or files are missing or corrupted like you don't want to have a fire escape in your house to a window that doesn't open you know you need to check will this window open if I have to leave it? As? is open, you should know that before you need to know that someone is talking about the z77 chipset it was from 2012, not 12 years ago, it's seven years ago, it's old, it seems to me that someone mentioned the z77, when was it introduced in April 2012?
Fair enough, that's the old socket 1155 in my world, which would be obsolete, which would be, wouldn't even be a system you'd necessarily want to give to disabled veterans because of its age, it's too old, ideally you'd want to replace a computer about every 5 or 6 years at the latest, ideally you will do it every 3 or 4 or keep small updates every year, don't leave it as it is and anything that lasts forever is not a toaster, it is not a device, we are still evolving the Internet at fast pace, just like computer technology, there are so many things today that didn't exist in 2012 that that computer was never designed to do and will never be able to do, and that includes threats in the way hackers exploit the operating system like they have never done it before, the antivirus has to be more robust and requires more RAM and more CPU power to be able to deal with all these advanced threats and then of course I got new technologies different types of Wi-Fi and SATA USB SATA has improved up to SATA 3 I don't know 77 had SATA 3 now we're even phasing it out from MDOT to nvme which you'll never be able to do on that computer unless you have UEFI to boot from there and you'd have to put in an add-in card and now you're just patching, you're just putting band-aids and duct tape on it and to me that's not a sign of reliability and you're just prolonging the inevitable and the question I'm asking you is can you change that computer whenever you want based on your schedule or can you wait for it to fail and/or be exploited and have all your data stolen and forced to do it when it decides it's time so you can react or you can be proactive and do it on your schedule and your budget because when it happens and you're forced to deal with it, it's going to be in the worst possible time and it will not be ideal to be buying the best price at that time.
Most people will be in some sort of panic mode and it is my preference to handle everything calmly. on a schedule with research so I know what I'm getting, I know I'm getting a good price and then I'll phase it out because I have clients and they want to be reactive instead of proactive. I don't want those clients so again that's just my attitude do what's right for you just explain when you have a client and they won't take my advice and say well we'll wait until it breaks you have no idea how much stress it causes me that.
Glenn Livet contributed five Canadian dollars. He says great videos Kerry I hate ads. so here you have some money, regards. Thanks Glenn, yes I'm with you. I'm trying. I'm desperately trying to keep this channel as ad-free as possible, but I also want to grow the channel and if we have more contributors like you. and I see that Hugh Wong has contributed two dollars, he says good system Gary Thanks Hugh, we the viewers like you, chances of opportunities starting to appear instead of being limited with what I can do, that's why I can build that 39 50 I know you can't please everyone, but damn.
I'm going to try it anyway and to do it there's a lot of funding going on to pay for everything and then ideally someone will want to buy it and then with that money I get I can turn around and put it into the next project. and we can have some really interesting and amazing content, as well as the usual practical things that I normally do and maybe even some fancy productions, maybe someone like Mitch and I can get together and make some fancy edited video, you know, while we polish and edit it so that it looks good.
I'll be like everyone else, but that won't be a normal thing, it'll just be a fun little thing we do on the side, so I don't want to do the same thing. I want to keep experimenting and I want to keep doing. it's interesting to me keep it interesting to me and share my knowledge and hopefully we can laugh and have a little fun along the way so thank you thank you all David Kane says feel free to contact me on Facebook we can talk and obtain. to meet if you want, thanks David, thanks for your contribution, keep in mind that I don't really sit and talk to anyone on Facebook, someone could contact me and say hi and I'll say hi, and that's it. because I have eight million other things I have to do.
I have a client that I was supposed to invoice three weeks ago. They won't pay me until I give them an invoice and that invoice should have been due on January 1st. I haven't even had time to sit down and write the invoice when you send your contributions through PayPal. I always send them thanks, but sometimes those thanks don't arrive for three, four, or five days and that's because I can't just hit reply. I have to log in to PayPal which has two factor authentication, get my phone, get my code and then look for your contribution in the PayPal summary, then there I can see your email address which I can copy. and I paste from the email that PayPal sends me and then I can put the response, you know, thanks for your contribution, thanks for looking and I have to do that for each and every email, so I often cut and paste some answers, but I still do it all myself, everything is done by hand, there is no automation in it and sometimes it is discouraging to have to go through and do all that logging in for an email.
I could wait until there are ten or fifteen, it's a ton and Craig. All of that, so if someone says, “Hey, Carrie, what are you doing?”, you're probably not going to engage me in a conversation because it's going to take me away from other work that I have to do. Don't take it personally, but I will be polite and say hello, but if you are a customer and have a support issue or want to order a computer for me. I have all the time in the world. You know, we'll schedule a time. talk on the phone one hour two hours Mahdi knows this bill and Oregon knows that people know that when their customers have immediate priority, whether they are current customers or past customers, they are always customers and I want to make sure they know that as busy as I am, I'm busy thanks to them they are the ones that keep me busy so if you are a fan of the channel and you want to say like China that's great thank you I appreciate it but regarding participation. in a how to do it?
What I'll probably end up doing is some kind of meeting, we'll see. I saw that Harkins Cinemas will rent the theater for around $100 an hour, so we'll see what kind of response. We came to the Phoenix area for people who would be interested in going out. Maybe we can have Harkins show one of my quick tips or a video made just for the meeting on the movie screen. We can do live Q&As and just hang out and chat. that would be a lot of fun, so it's another item on the 20/20 wish list for this year.
Robert Cronin said he's a busy man, guys I'm happy he gets our line when you can even get on the channel. I respect the man for being As busy as he is as tight as we are, you're kind again, there's too much on my plate. I don't want to be rude to anyone, you know, but at the same time it's very flattering that people want to talk. For me, yeah, I grew up really friendless and people didn't want to talk to me. Now I have the opposite problem. A lot of people want to talk to me and I don't have enough time to do it, apart from.
I'm programming something specifically for that, but I hope you appreciate or at least understand that it's nothing more than time and Brendon Lindy contributed to the pounds. Hey thanks. Brendon the goat says, "Be careful, don't get burned Carrie. I've already gotten burned badly." a couple of times and when that happens I walk away for a while. I know that when that starts happening, the quality of my videos goes down, my views go down, the amount of money I make goes down. I'm getting more frustrated, it's a downward spiral, but I'm revitalized 2020 is here, we're here now and I have a lot of things I said I didn't want to do this is the year I'll do them all I don't expect them all to be successful but I'm not going to continue doing the same things I've always done; sometimes there will be a different approach and I want to see what the results are and I will keep experimenting with that until I find the right formula that works that include studying that includes exclusive content for paid subscribers that includes meetups and greets if there are enough people at the level local or willing to go out to justify it, possible sponsorship opportunities that don't make me a sellout, you know, just all this type. of the things that will be all and many more things that I want to explore throughout this year and of course the video content that I always do, these live videos, will remain the same as far as that goes.
Well, I'm doing that because again there is a lot more room on my plate. I'm going to add all these other things in an attempt to find something that pleases everyone in the sense that I get the views I want. getting subscribers to grow at a faster rate, I just don't have the answer yet, it's the same problem every business has, how do I do it? The business is growing, it's not growing fast enough for my YouTube channel to get to where I am. I want it to be that way if I don't change anything and I keep doing exactly what I've always done and I don't make any changes by the time I reach a million subscribers I'll be one hundred and forty-five years old.
I don't think that's possible, so I need to make the changes now. If I ever want to see a million subscribers, I have to take a different approach and at the same time, I have to be careful not to make it too different and call it a day. Going in the opposite direction would be bad, so there will be a lot of toes in the water as I feel out what works and what doesn't, and 2020 will turn out to be a very interesting year because of that, so I'm really invigorated I'm far from exhausted I'm really invigorated because there is so much potential here Carrie, do you have an email so people can transfer money?
Yes, I can show you that I talk a lot about this, but since I have this machine plugged in behind me. I'll show you if you go to your browser and type technology, or veterans like veteran and TSM, which will take you to Mike and I's website, we do our podcast on running a computer repair business we talk about the trials and tribulations, frustrations and challenges that we have to overcome, whether we are talking about taxes or billing or difficult clients, strange problems with computers, this is an audio podcast that you can listen to and your convenience, and we are on the show, the last show is 148 , so we've done 148 of these shows.
I know it at the top. I have to change this. It says it's a weekly podcast. We were kind of biennials at this point. We do a show every few months, but independently. Of that, all the programs are available and if you look to the right you will see that there is a donation button right here and you can click on it at any time to contribute. The donate button goes through PayPal and PayPal takes 3% of your contribution, but when you see the contributions in the YouTube super chat, those super chat contributions, YouTube takes 30% of what you contribute and for $1, $2, even $20 isn't a big deal, but with its $50 or more substantial, YouTube doesn't just take 30%. but then I have to wait for more than 60 days to be paid with PayPal.
I receive it instantly. I can refund it if you say: hey, I don't like you anymore, give me my money back. I'll give you your money. come back no problem I can't even do any of that with super check you know I get it instantly and I can send you a thank you with super chat I can't even send you a thank you because I have no idea who it is it came right underneath it says contact us and there's Mike Smith and Kerri Holzman. Now, if you have your email set up correctly in Windows, when you click on it, your email application will open, so see, I don't have anything set up here.
If thatdoesn't work for you, then you can mouse over the link. I think so, and if you look at the bottom left corner right now on the screen, right above my Home button, do you see that little window that just appeared? I'll bring it back when you hover over it, that's the email address that's there, it says mail to: and then, that's the command that has the email address and that's how you can contact me, though , if your request is not commercial. -related if you are not a past customer you are not interested in becoming a customer you just want to talk to me you just want to share a problem you are having with me I probably won't have time to engage you I will probably respond by saying you know you can go to tech guy dot org to get free support, so if you're looking, if you have a question and you want to solve it yourself and you just want to pick my brain and you have no intention of paying.
I just don't have time because there are other people paying and waiting, but you can go to technical dot o-r-g, which I am writing there and this is a free support site. I have to spell. you are correctly on CH GUI dot o-r-g and that is the type of technical support, this is free 24/7, it is all based on volunteers, there is no guarantee and the information you get may or may not be accurate, However, they cover all kinds of different topics, so if we go on the forums side, you can see that there is everything from how to remove viruses, security questions, questions about networking, we have problems with email, questions about web design, programming, business applications, games, other software, digital photography questions, multimedia hardware, software development, Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows.
XP Windows Server older versions of Windows Linux and UNIX Apple and Mac DOS Apple mobile devices Android mobile devices Windows Mobile devices other mobile devices. You can see this is all broken down into all these different categories. There is no limit to the number of questions you can ask and people there are simply doing it to help others, so please be nice to them. No one gets paid for this, so the fact that someone responds shouldn't result in an argument or fight. Just say thank you whether you think their information was helpful or not. This is all based on a community of people who want to help each other and everyone has the best intentions.
I will say that I have made a lot of money. It comes from people with the best of intentions who completely ruined someone else's computer to the point where they had to pay me to fix it, but the help here is that this website has been around for 20 years, they've been doing this for free. I have a long history of being a place that I feel comfortable recommending, but that will answer those questions as well and let's see if I can close that now and let's get back to chamber one now. I'm also excited for those of you who maybe I meet a lot of skeptical people online and some people think that when I tell them I have these cameras, they think I'm showing them the same camera twice, so just to show them that I don't I have put. action once again.
I've been really busy and I have all these big plans, but these are the two new XF 400 cameras and of course what you're seeing me is identical to these two, so these are a few. There are big monsters here, so these are the XF 400 Dave camera and the Peter camera and this camera, the main camera hmm, maybe it's the John camera, I'm not sure yet, but it's kind of a tribute to the people who They have generously contributed to the channel so that I can pay for these, they cost two thousand five hundred dollars each, each one has a 256 gigabyte memory card, they cost like 80 dollars each and then they have a tripod head that costs about thirty dollars apiece. tripod.
Another hundred dollars and we can't start on microphones, so for now I only have the microphones I've had before and that's all I need. These should be extra for different angle close-ups and things like that. and they exist, they are here and I just have to put a plan of action and use them efficiently, which is why I am explaining why I am so excited about 20/20. I have seven hundred and five hundred dollars worth of cameras that I never had before and plus they still have the old cameras and that means that if I want to do something a little risky like drive my car on a camera, I'll use one of those that doesn't go under the car, but again, It's the community contributions that have made it possible, I mean, look for me to have one of these, it's amazing, you know, I don't come from a place of money, I'm not a trust fund, honey, my last name is not Kardashian, like that that I have one of these like wow, it's like well, if I had everything I wanted, then I wouldn't want three of these.
I wouldn't want a more expensive camera. I wouldn't want a different model of camera. This is exactly the camera I need. I would like to, but if I could have everything I wanted, I would want three of them, well I have three, now is the time to use them, so we will do it this year too and I'm really excited because they're the same camera model, all the color lighting as I move, you know, from camera one, camera two, to camera three years, or from camera John to camera, Peter dinh, camera Dave, which you won't see. different lighting conditions and colors, that's what's been happening because none of my cameras are the same.
This is the first time I have multiple cameras of the same model and they are 4k cameras, but I am not streaming in 4k yet. I hope to do it in 2020 as well, so Dwight. I sound like I'm very excited about this year. I'm far from exhausted by the way this computer has been running the whole time behind me, we have this fan running these two fans running and the be quiet direct power supply is running and I'm standing right next to it. I'll even take them. It's silent like I can feel the breeze, so I don't know if it's like that, but don't listen to it, it's the fans, they're completely silent, the person who's going to buy this computer, they're going to love it, what time is twenty-two five? my time is fine so you only have about twenty minutes here David Keynes contributed two dollars he says business is business I understand it's more than a business it's about trying to make this community bigger if I allow a individual as a consumer monopolize my time and then I voluntarily give my consent to allow them to prevent me from using that same time to grow a larger community, including Involve more people to try to go out and promote myself or come up with other video ideas that maybe win a audience that I have not yet acquired well and, at the same time, not lose the audience that I have and continue. grow and I can't do it, I can't be in two places at the same time, so it's really about the community, it's the best thing to take this to the next level, where we are is fantastic and I've been working on it. since 2012, so this isn't an overnight success, although I wouldn't even call it successful at this point, it's still a side job for me.
I want it to be my full-time job and I want this community to be three or four times bigger. than it is now before we die, so it's time to take this momentum and keep pushing it forward and just strike while the iron is hot and see what we can do together and to be able to do it, then the time will come. I step away from the camera, I need to continually focus on my clients, my future clients, locating a studio. Remember, I still have all the other things that people have to do. I don't have a maid.
I don't have a butler. I still have to carry. I take out the trash, I do the dishes, I do the laundry, and I mop the floors, and you know, I do all the ordinary things that everyone else has to do, but I don't clock in or out. t I don't have a 40-hour-a-week job I wake up I work until I go to bed with very few exceptions I relax and watch a little TV or go out to see a movie occasionally I stop to eat sometimes I go Sometimes I go out to eat, I just eat something here because I'm the only employee, so if I don't do what needs to be done, it just doesn't get done, so me time is very, very valuable and I have an overload of items on my plate. so I wouldn't say it's so much a business as much as it's an attempt by us to make a dream come true and now I've got enough taste in my mouth because the channel is this size where it's like, oh, this is it.
It's actually possible now, when the channel is smaller and you have a few thousand subscribers or whatever they might start to feel a little bit and it's just a little side thing that I do for fun, but then when it starts, you know , it gets to a certain size and starts to gain some momentum like, oh, there might be something here, let's find out and that takes a new concentration that will take a little bit of experimentation to figure out, but I'm excited about it and I'm only allowed Facebook only allows 5000 friends, so if you try to friend me on Facebook and it doesn't let you it's because I've reached that limit, but almost every day someone unfriends me with 5,000 friends who know they could have had friends years ago and forgotten. about that or whatever and if you try it a couple of times during the week you will probably succeed.
I always confirm all friend requests, I mean, unless someone has a profane name or something, but otherwise I just confirmed them. and you are welcome to be my friend on Facebook, but if it doesn't let you, try again the next day and the next day some days three people want to be my friend and other days no one unfriends me, but it's a constant flow of people who come. and come on so don't be discouraged if you don't pass the first time good writer 2009 says good job Carrie I like your video since I found you here on YouTube right on good writer and my goal is that there are others like you out there who don't know that I exist, we can communicate with them and let me know that I am here.
DHR Street speed says camera Dave, yeah I haven't tagged them yet. Finally I was able to put labels on the batteries because all Canon camera batteries are physically the same, so I labeled them as XF 400 batteries with the date to have an idea if it's time to replace the batteries and then I'll put a label, one of these It will be Dave. one of these will be Peter and I think the others will be John, but DHR Street speed is Dave for those of you who want to know one nine one times seven says that all the Seagate Fire CUDA SSDs in our super micro servers have died in this company.
SSDs that are only a few months old seem to be just as bad as their drives. I can not talk about that. I don't know about data centers. I don't know if wood units are more reliable than others. There have been other problems, that's a very unique scenario where you know things at the business level are usually not covered in YouTube videos, that's why you hire employees who are supposed to know these things and hold them accountable for the decisions you make. they take and I'm not an expert on that so I couldn't tell you if you have a bad batch or if someone didn't know what they were doing and they weren't set up correctly.
I don't know, maybe they weren't cooling properly. There are a lot of variables where people using them with the reasons why they failed prematurely and in other cases there is a manufacturing problem, but if it's just you and other people using the same SSDs and your business environments without problems, I wouldn't rush to say that it is a problem with SSDs. I don't know enough to say one way or another, it's interesting, anyway, camera Mitch, okay, no, Mitch, we'll hold the camera. Mitch's contributions come from being here to help me. Mitch doesn't send me money and I wouldn't want him to either.
On the contrary, I try to repay Mitch in some way for his time here. He has to drive around the city. You know, gas alone will probably cost you $10 just to come here and go home, so we'll definitely have that. one of these cameras in Mitch's hands very, very soon we'll see if he complains that it's too heavy Mitch, you're there today Kevin wants to know if my family members support all my stuff in the kitchen here, let's say I'm looking to get into a study let's put it that way Bearpaws contributed 2 pounds he says keep up the good work hey thanks Bearpaw Shaun Baxter contributes 2 pounds thanks Shaun thanks everyone 1 9 1x7 says I'm in a NIT hospital we have a external company that takes care of our servers, yes, okay, so here is the problem: these service providers are looking to make profits, they are not necessarily and I look, I don't know who your service provider is, but they are not all the same. some of them have no idea what they are doing, others like the ones I have seen at the Hospital, it was a story of an entire school system infected with ransomware because the contracted service provider basically made the system unsecured, which It allowed hackers to get in. and have remote access to everything the service provider accessed remotely, which included the entire school system.
School district service providersThey have gone crazy. The service providers in medical billing for blood lab work here in the United States did not secure their stuff properly and as a result, they were sued because all of this clients' private medical information was exposed and released, so the companies who hire service providers sued them for the damage caused to their company and that company responded by filing for bankruptcy and going out of business. So just because you have a service provider doesn't mean you have the best service provider or are making the best decisions and ultimately it should be the service provider's responsibility when the things they suggested fail. responsible for replacing, repairing, etc.
If they are not doing it, they will seem like a very good service provider, but I don't know, I'm not there. I only hear it from you. I just hear that you know every coin. It has two sides, every front has a back, I don't know what its side is, but something someone has a certain motivation to do what they have done and we just don't know if that motivation was purely lucrative or if they were sincere for what was best for them. the client I don't know, I bet Carrie has a second kitchen for the actual meals, yeah, yeah, it's on my yacht.
Glyn Davies has contributed five Australian dollars and said he would be very happy to work with the chamber. with you every day if I didn't live exactly 8221 point three six miles away, yeah, you know, Kimmy from Mitch, it's really not that bad when you put it that way, it's nice of you to offer the same, is the thought what counts, okay? I'm done in five minutes, guys, five minutes, last questions, let's do it, let's get to the last five minutes. Brett Hibbs says thanks to you Carrie. I'm interested in computers again. They actually upgraded my mom's old computer with a new power supply and graphics card. right on Brett and let's turn you blue here, let's turn Brett blue, I love it, I love the positivity, I like the support and the kindness, those three things will make you turn blue here not just once, although you have to do it, I have to do it.
I see you and recognize you in Good Writer 2009, very good job, oh, I already read that, thank you. Karina says whoever finds you, Carrie will definitely stay, you are the best, that's right, thank you. I wish it were true, it's okay. just the fact that they have a lot of channels on YouTube, there are a lot of competing videos, not necessarily about the topics that I cover, but there's a lot to choose from, so for anyone to click on mine, that's the first hurdle to overcome once that they're here, then the second thing is to create content that I hope they can relate to and want to come back oh, I see Mitch there ready to go.
Mitch says I won't complain. I'm just kidding. I'm the one who complains, that's my job. I'm very good at that. Mitch says I've been working out, so I'm up for it. Well, let's try it. I will say that this camera probably weighs about 4 4 to 6 pounds, let's call it 5 pounds, that doesn't seem like a lot, but if you have to hold it like that, you know what to say. I'm installing the motherboard into the case or whatever. Mitch has to weigh like that and I'm sitting there chatting and so-and-so contributed to the check and Mitch says you know you're going to need to move this next to Carey and he starts holding her arm and then maybe the camera which Mitch doesn't has.
He hadn't shaken it yet, but you get to a point where he starts to feel really heavy, so we'll see how you've been training. Ok, go ahead, does your YouTube channel speak to your audience? This is what I see all day. this is what you look like to me you have one eye and you're very stoic okay three minutes three minutes left last questions three minutes Thomas Robinson says there's another great show Carrie have a good night says Steve says state stay safe Thank you Thomas delivers Thomas blue how about a 360 degree camera for 20 21?videos I already had that idea I thought hmm, it would be really cool if you could look around the classroom, the classroom, my kitchen and when you know, you can put a virtual reality viewer and you can look around you at any time.
You looked far enough away that the counter was no longer in the shot, the video would stop and my voice would say we'll continue when you pay attention and then when you look back at the counter the video would assume you know continue on the resume. Thank goodness I'm teaching like a real teacher would, that's all I want to do with this, so, be cool, that's how nerdy I am. Abdul Azim Patel contributed $2. He says what do you think about this? CISSP or CISA certificates. I don't know what they are, what industry they are for, if in general, any certification is not important unless you have an employer or a potential employer that requires them;
Otherwise, I see them as a waste of time and money. I'm just talking about certificates in general, not specific certificates, some industries require certifications for FINRA or HIPPA compliance requirements, but again, if a job doesn't require it, what's the point of having it? Patrick Doyle says it's a great program. Carrie loves the channel, thanks guys. I will reach everywhere with flattery. I really appreciate the kindness. I haven't seen any trolls today, which is strange. How about a chest camera? I recently bought a GoPro and there is a harness you can use, but when I did that.
A couple of years ago I made a GoPro computer that made people nauseous, in fact, maybe I can show you if we go back to this desk and go back to YouTube and let's do Carey Holzman, throw it in there. Now this was done a few years ago, it was what it was 2015 2014, it was July 2014 and I used the GoPro to try to give you a wider view of what I'm seeing and you can see the tint was very yellow and there's no Steadicam so which is like it was constantly swinging and made people dizzy, so it was a good idea now this wasn't on my chest, it was on my head and I was never quite sure where the camera was. he was pointing out that he had no way of monitoring the video.
I just filmed it and hope for the best. I now have a more modern GoPro that will allow me to monitor the video output, but I don't know if it will fix the motion sickness. problem and hopefully the lighting will be better, you'll see how everything has a yellow tint and it's drastic when I switch from my main camera to the GoPro and vice versa, you'll see that yes, so there's me with the main camera, there's the main camera. Notice there's no more yellow tint and then we go to the GoPro and into the lighting and the color, that's what I'm saying.
Oh, it's important that all the cameras are the same so you know the shot looks pretty good, the colors are pretty clear and pretty. okay and then I'll come back to using the GoPro here in a moment. I think well regardless, you can see and there's my shitty old floor, goodbye to that old floor, you can see the yellow look, look how yellow the countertop looks. Yeah anyway, they already have, be careful what you ask for so I can tell you about that and that's the title of the video if you want to look it up, that's the compilation video from July 2014, well that was fun, a lot Thank you all. for joining me today it was great hanging out with you I hope you enjoyed today's video I trolled my trolling tintin you look so young in 2014 I look young now who said I can't see you because I'm too old Anyway, I can't see it's a bad joke, yes, thank you all so much for joining all the contributors during today's video, helping me stay sponsor-free.

Well thank you George, thank you for your support, your kindness and generosity, Fritz er contributed and David Caine again, David's partner today, Michael B Eddie - egg Brendan Looney and the first contribution was Mattie yo L, so thank you guys, very much thanks for continuing again. is a free sponsor, keeping us free sponsors and for all the work you guys in blue do in the chat to pass the time, staying civil and leading by example to the new people who come showing that we are polite, we are courteous about all. otherwise and we don't tolerate people being idiots, right, that's all we care about here, we don't care how old you are, how young you are, we don't care about race, gender, religion, we don't care.
It matters, we just want to know that if you are an idiot, hit the bricks and when you decide that you don't want to be an idiot anymore, you are welcome to come back and with that for everyone who is not dressed in blue. It's super easy to make and really is its own reward, so thanks again. I'll see you all probably on Monday. I'll try. and broadcast on Monday.
I have the new Corsair 750m power supply to put in Martin's computer or if you remember that repair a couple of days ago, like I said, Corsair sent me a new power supply sealed in a box like I just went and bought a new one and the benefit of that is that all your pre-existing cable management will connect to the same sockets and I only have to know to run the cable management on the two non-modular cables, which is the 24-pin motherboard power and 8 pin so it will probably be Monday and then I have to finish the cable management here on this beast.
I'll do it off camera from now on I hope I can do it I show you the final view you know the final view of what it looks like and then my sister can edit everything you know this build removes all the chatter and now she has an ending when I do that, the black and white computer I fixed. I have to send it on Monday. I couldn't get it out yesterday because I was hoping to do that build again there. I have to finish that and I have two new builds next week, one of which is It will be for a piece of software called Blender, so if you are interested in that, check out the build coming up on Tuesday or Wednesday.
I think I'll finish with that. Thank you all again for joining. I will see you all again. soon until then goodbye for now you you you
