If you have Windows 7, want to upgrade to Windows 10, or want to perform a full clean install of Windows 10, follow these steps first. I'm going to click on Create Windows 10 Setup. I unchecked this just because I like to be in control, but I'm not going to change anything. We want English. We want Windows 10. It will be placed in both editions, Home and Pro. In fact, in all versions of Windows 10, that is why the specific version will not. listed here and of course we want it to be 64 bit, no one should be running 32 bit anymore, you won't be able to see more than 4 gigs of RAM if you have a 32 bit OS, whether it's Windows Linux Mac whatever, you definitely want 64 bit, then click Next down here and it says, do you want to create an ISO file and that's just a one image file, an image file or do you want to create a bootable USB flash drive and it needs to? to have at least 8 gigabytes, remember that you won't be able to use the flash drive for anything else, so yes, I want to create a USB flash drive and I press Next.

Now it says we can't find a USB flash drive right now. period, let me go back to my main camera so you can see me here right now. I have my flash drive, this is just a blank flash drive, if this flash drive has anything on it, I will lose everything on it when it starts. this process will erase this flash drive if it was not already erased and turned into Windows 10 installation media and I will not be able to use it for anything else unless I reformat it and then of course it will be back in the condition we have now it's blank, so I'm going to go ahead and plug this into any available USB port.

I want this to work quickly, so I'm going to choose a blue USB port because it's a fast flash drive and plug it in. on a black USB port would slow down that flash drive, defeating the purpose of why I paid more for it now that it's plugged in, if we go back to the main screen, the desktop of the computer, I mean now we'll see that the desktop flash drive is loaded here and it shows that its contents are empty, which again doesn't matter because I mean it will check for you if there is something in there that you thought was empty.

You'll notice, oh, wait a minute, it's not empty. better make a backup now if there's anything you want we'll close this because we don't need to see the void and we'll refresh the drive list and there it is this is a Corsair 64 gig not Corsair the flash drive I'm using , I thought I had taken a 16 gigabyte, I took a 64 gigabyte, which is fine for alleffects, it doesn't really matter, it's just and I want to keep remembering that you won't be able to use it. flash drive for anything else, so I could have gotten away with spending less money by buying a smaller flash drive, but I'm just going to use this for demo purposes or maybe you won't even keep it, maybe you just need have your Windows Media USB Tool use it and then delete it and use it for something else.

Maybe you only have a flash drive. That's fine too. You can always redo it in the future when you need it. I want to emphasize For you, downloading Windows 10 and creating this multimedia tool is perfectly legal. Microsoft wants you to use it, they want you to have it, plus they want you to buy a product key, so what they are going to do is make Windows 10. A little annoying to use and until you buy a product key, but it will still work and if you don't mind the hassle, you'll never have to pay for it and it's perfectly legal, that said, when upgrading from Windows 7 or Windows. 8, you can upgrade to the same version, so Windows 7 main to Windows 10 main, Windows 7 pro to Windows 10 Pro when it comes to 32 bit or 64 bit, I'm not sure, I think you would have to do a clean install.

I suggest you follow this process and make a new bootable installation media because if you don't you will have to download that big update to update it so this will save you a step if you do this about every 6 months if you are going to maintain one loaded otherwise, like I said, if you only have a flash drive, do this when you need it, erase it when you're done, use it for other things when you need it again, rinse and repeat so you don't have to keep it forever. You don't have to dedicate a flash drive to it forever, just dedicate it long enough for when you need it and be sure to update it;

You don't want to install an older version of Windows and then make updates that waste your time when you could have updated it for free and you will follow exactly the same method except that the file you download will be an updated file but it will be transparent to you, It's going to be the same process, it's going to look the same except when you install it, it's going to be a newer version, so I hope it's clear that now we're 90%, 99% done and that's it, so we can click finish, that's it. That's all there is to do now.

Many people are confused about how to get their computer to start booting from a USB flash drive and I wish I could tell them that there is only one way that everyone can follow, but unfortunately with some manufacturers you press F10, others you press F12 and others you press F8. others enter the BIOS by pressing delete or f2 or you know there are all kinds of different ways manufacturers will run that process. If you already have Windows 10 installed, you can tell Windows 10 to boot on the next boot from a bootable flash drive, but that doesn't make sense why you would do that, why you would install Windows 10 when you already have it.

Windows 10 has built in tools to handle all of this automatically without needing to do this so I can just show you on the hardware that I have here so this is an AZ rock board and what I'm going to do is tell it I want the ace rock board in the BIOS, but once you are in the BIOS and however you need to enter your BIOS, you will go to where it says boot or save and exit and somewhere in there there should be options for where you want your computer to boot for a single boot , so if I try it now I don't know how it will work.

Come on, but let's try it. I have fast boot enabled on the system, which is why it boots so fast and makes it almost impossible to get into the BIOS fast enough. You have to press the right key now for asrock and msi, asus and gigabyte, if you are a home builder and you have a desktop computer, you know this is the same process with a laptop, but when we talk about the process of entering the BIOS , all major motherboard manufacturers before me. I just mentioned that you can press Delete over and over again before the Windows logo appears.

What you have to do is keep pressing the Delete key until you enter that BIOS. If you turn off fastboot, it will be much easier to access the BIOS, but the point of fastboot is that it eliminates that delay in searching. for that BIOS key to speed up the boot time and as you can see it works very very well but what can I do if I go to the control panel in Windows 10 if I go to the gear if I click? on the home button click on this gear where it says settings and I'm going to go to update and security and then I want to go to recovery here on the left side then I want to reboot now into advanced startup reboot now now it won't reboot don't let Don't let this fool you, now we want to click on use a device, use a USB drive network connection or a Windows recovery DVD, so what do you want to use?

I want to use a UEFI removable device, we are not going to do that. we boot from the network and we are not going to boot from a CD or DVD, we want to boot from the UEFI USB flash drive and now it should reboot and boot automatically from that flash drive and we should see the Windows 10 installation options appear. Then you will see that It slowed down a bit and let's see if I'm right if it boots into Windows or boots now. Let's see how it boots into the Windows Media installation, which is our USB.

It's that simple now when it comes to how. Let's go into the BIOS another way, like let's say you have Windows 7, you can't do that, you don't have an Ace Rock board, so you don't have the option, let's say I'm downloading a piece of software to reboot into UEFI. I can hold down the power button until the machine turns off. Here it is, turn it back on. Remember I always do this from off and I'll just hold down the delete button and see. If that helps at all, I always try different things. You can see that the bottom right corner tells us to press F2.

I think that's what it says there or delete to enter the BIOS. By holding down the button that took us, I can now go. in the BIOS down here and again your BIOS will probably look different than this unless you have an AZ rock board, but they are all basically the same, you don't have to be a robot, you have to use your eyes and you have to read the options on your screen. I thought it would be here but this doesn't deter me. I just know I'm on the wrong screen so I'll go to exit and often you'll find this on the exit where the options are to save and exit your BIOS like you see here and usually at least on gigabyte asus and asrock boards and I think on msi you will see boot override listed. Here again, you would think it would be on boot, but it usually shows up in the save and exit area and now you can choose two different boot options: our Intel SSD and Vimy drive or our SanDisk, which is the USB flash drive, and if I click on SanDisk twice, the machine will now try to boot from there just this one time and I'll demonstrate it to you because once the Windows 10 media boots, which is there, I'll hold down the power button. it will turn off and then I will press the power button again leaving the flash drive on it, it won't boot now it will now boot to the internal drive and this is important because after installing

It doesn't undo anything. at that time turn off the computer and remove your flash drive and then turn it back on and then the installation can be completed when you boot from the process from the internal drive you are installing it on or you can go into your BIOS and make that change to boot first on the other drive, so there's a difference between changing the boot order permanently and just a temporary boot override and again, if you remove the drive, that's another way to solve it, at least until you plug the drive in. I get back in at some point in the future and boot from there accidentally, but that's it, it's really super, super simple, perfectly, 100 percent legal every time, it's not complicated, it's not rocket surgery, it's like I just showed you, very, very. simple, now let's talk about how to update BIOS on Asrock motherboard again.

The way to update the BIOS varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Asrock has this tool where instead of going to the Asrock site, you download the BIOS and put it on a flash drive. The flash drive usually has to be formatted in fat32 or you won't see all this other stuff. You want to use a small flash drive because fat32 only sees up to four gigs anyway, they see it all gets complicated so asrock thought well how can we make this easier for our customers and this is what they did? Once again, let's start again in the BIOS and I'll repeat the same thing I did, which is go to settings to update in security to reboot recovery now and I want to troubleshoot Advanced Options and UEFI firmware settings, so it says that you want to reboot to change the UEFI firmware settings.

You already know how to update your BIOS, so for the rest of us to update the BIOS, we'll go to f6 again, in the top right corner it says Advanced Mode and then we'll go to where it says tool, at the top right of the page. up here and we want the UEFI update utility, there's instant flash, meaning if we want to copy it to a flash drive and do it locally and then there's internet flash, then we're going to do internet flash and what that's going to do now is get a IP address of a wired Ethernet connection that is wireless, it has to be a wired Ethernet connection to your router.

This is normally something that happens in Windows, but we're not in Windows, we're in your BIOS, so we'll let the BIOS communicate and get an IP address from your router. This may take a couple of minutes again. It is not as fast as Windows. You will also see that there is a QR code in the lower right corner of the screen that you can use your smartphone to access. to the website directly. I don't use QR codes, but if that's something you want to do, that's why it's there, so we're going to wait for this to initialize and hopefully it won't take much longer.

I mean, this is taking longer. make the damn Windows 10 installation media, but what it does is remove all the guesswork, you don't need to find the right motherboard and the right BIOS for that board, not that it's very difficult, but this is even easier than that because I automatically go and recognize if there is a new update compared to the one you have, while I do it as a human being as a technician I use my brain and look at the version that I have and the version that is available and I can determine as a human being within a relatively short period of time, if the version available is new, that said for some people it's apparently asking too much, by doing this, this does all that for you, but you probably would have already done it.

Honestly, it would be over by now, so we'll let this go on a little longer and see if it's going to come in. I shouldn't take this. This is ridiculous, yes, it clearly has a problem, so let's try again, sometimes you just repeat it even though we haven't changed anything, we'll try it one more time, like doing anything now, yes, and I want to emphasize that Rock did This made it easier, but it requires a lot more patience. Every time you check your BIOS, you should see your current BIOS listed, so if you're looking at the BIOS and it says you're on version 80, that's like you might say a corner of Intel and your BIOS. the version is cff as if they don't even have the same format. What you want to do when you look at the latest bio will show you the previous bios and you will want to review the previous bios to see if a number matches the number you have. If not, you're probably looking at the wrong motherboard and you'll save yourself some time.

This is what I don't like about automation, I keep telling them that automating things is a big mistake unless they are in a constantly audited and monitored place, I just don't have that faith. I don't think our firmware version is up to date. Not really. I think that's true, so I'll click OK and we'll get out of here and back to Windows. We don't have to save any changes here. I like to use some laptop drives. I have lots and lots of these, they are very cheap.

You can get them. You know, four terabytes, five terabytes, two and one. Half-inch drives are USB powered - there is no separate power cord. I've had these for years. It's very rare that I ever see them not break down and I don't leave them plugged in. I plug it in, do my backup and unplug them. that's why they last so long these are all one terabyte oh this one is 2 terabytes. I put a little label on it because they all look alike and I'll make system images of them, but I'm starting to phase them out and instead I'm switching to solid state drives 2 terabyte solid state drives are very affordable now they'll cost you about $200 , which is still three times more than one of these two terabyte drives, but it's much faster and much more, I would say. much more reliable but I don't have any reliability issues so here I have a couple of actual backup drives of mine that I'm currently using so on the streaming computer I backed this up yesterday and the reason why I am using solid state because they are very fast so I am backing up a ton of data and this gets very hot so this is the brint USB enclosure for MDOT to SATA drives and I have a two terabyte SATA. probably like a blue Western Digital in there or something and then I have one of these, this is a Samsung t5 and they're a little expensive so we just have one and you plug it into the USB and you'll see the size difference right here. and this is where I backup my desktop, this is what I backup the transmitter and these are saved at home now I also have an Acronis cloud account and then I will backup cloud security on my desktop and on the transmitter So if something happens around the house, I have a secure encrypted backup in the cloud that I can fall back on, but it will take longer to restore and then of course I have my little USB flash drive, so anything like, let's say. my OBS setup has about 13 megs to download and I can put it on a flash drive.

I'll put it under the nads so it's universally available on my network if I want you to know off the cuff. At the moment I use a different computer to stream. Can. I'm moving data back and forth to mine at 110 megabytes per second and if I'm using one of these locally on a USB 3.1 or 3.2 port I should be able to move data accordingly at 940 megabytes per second soYou can do the math, that's almost six or seven times faster than my network and also a lot faster than the little mechanical drives I'm using, but if I'm going to go back I consume a lot of data and I want to do it cheap, no necessarily fast, so I use the mechanical drives and I do it at night and I go to bed and I always check my backups, I always check them as soon as I use any backup software.

When using it, there should be an option somewhere where you check a little box that says check my backup to compare it and make sure it was done correctly. Don't wait until you need it to find your backup, but it doesn't work. or files are missing or corrupted like you don't want to have a fire escape in your house to a window that doesn't open you know you need to check will this window open if I have to leave it? Most people will be in some sort of panic mode and it is my preference to handle everything calmly. on a schedule with research so I know what I'm getting, I know I'm getting a good price and then I'll phase it out because I have clients and they want to be reactive instead of proactive. I don't want those clients so again that's just my attitude do what's right for you just explain when you have a client and they won't take my advice and say well we'll wait until it breaks you have no idea how much stress it causes me that.
