design

space

to be open. your Cricut obviously and then I'm using some Cricut vinyl that I had lying around this is the non permanent vinyl so let's start right so the first thing we want to do when we

make

To make a template, we first have to figure out what we wanted to say, so I'm going to make letters, but you can make sense of almost anything, so let's make a template and say, let's see, we'll do it, so we'll say they come together in the top and then at the bottom we will have says together okay so the reason I put them in two different text boxes is because I want them to be two different fonts so for this collection I'm going to want this one to be a good font that I like, let's make this one. it's good so this is our description and I found this in font packs.

More Interesting Facts About,

how to make a vinyl stencil with cricut design space...

I really really like this one, so we can see this one says gather and this one says together, let's see what font we want it to be. I like to mix sources. I like, I like cement, you know, if I'm making two different fonts, I have to mix them up a little bit, so the first one is a Cursive II font, so the second one I want to make it a little bolder and simpler. one that I really like is no, as well as Baskerville Bill, forgive me old face, I really really like this one, so I'm going to put this together, so first, before we start making our template, we want to make sure that these letters are all soldered together, so one of the things I see a lot with people is that they forget to solder their writing fonts, so when soldering, I see that all these letters here have this little tail at the end or most of them do this one, not this one.

Not so much, but basically what that means since they're all supposed to be connected to each other and if most of the fonts don't have them already connected because they're just individual letters, to do that we'll need to ungroup them so there's an ungroup button up here. , so we're going to want to ungroup these letters so now I can move these letters individually, whereas before when they were all grouped together you could move them all together, so I couldn't move the letters one by one, so I'm going to ungroup them, so now what I want to do is move my letters so that they're all connected, so look, I want this a to touch the G and then the T.

I want to touch right there and so that the T here doesn't really have a natural tail where it should connect to age, so I'm just going to put the H right here. I think it looks good just like the e. I want to put the e completely down here. I'm just going to put it where it should naturally go, which is right there, and then this R will connect sitting here, okay, once I have all the letters where I want them, you're going to want to solder them now, so to do that. you select all the letters that you want to solder, I actually want to move this a little bit more, so select all the letters and then down here, this solder button, you're going to want to press solder, so now our letters are all connected and now it's a word pretty, so now we need to figure out what we're going to do with this one down here and notice that with these types of fonts, this is not a script, so I don't need to solder these letters.
It's actually kind of like the spacing, if you want the spacing to be closer, you can always go up here to the letter spacing and you can put them a little bit closer together or farther apart, it's really your preference, so we'll put these in, yeah, that you can see it well. Okay, so what I want this sign to look like is: I want the gathering to be big and then I wanted them together to be a little bit smaller. Now I want this to be a little bit. Yes, like that. Yes, so I like it.
It looks like now we have to see how big we want this um for our piece of wood that's going to continue. So how I like to do this, this is just a personal preference for me, but how I like to do this is I like to throw UM. I take out my shape button and choose a square because this is going to go on a piece of wood, so I want to stretch it out to see how big I should make my letters, so I'm going to move them out of the way a little bit. my piece of wood is 12 by 24, okay, now I can put my handwriting on it.
I have to move it to the front so I can measure and get an idea of what it's going to look like, move this to the front so I don't I'm not going behind so maybe we want to do this yeah okay I like how it looks so now We have a good idea of what our sign will look like, maybe it should be lowered a little, yeah, I think it looks good, okay? We're ready to make our actual template, so first what we're going to do is weld these two phrases together so they're cut into one piece of vinyl, so to do that, we're going to highlight both phrases so we can see them.
They're both selected and we're going to go here until well, I think you can solder or join. I just solder, but you can join it to solder, so now this is a sentence here, okay, now we can. Take the same form we used before to make sense. Also, we don't need the stencil to be that big because that will waste a ton of vinyl, so what we can do is make it that big. I think it's good. We're just going to make a square or a rectangle around it, okay, so now we still have our letters and our phrase separate from our rectangle, so now this is the fun part, I think now we need to cut out the actual template from this. rectangle here because if we just cut this out it wouldn't give us a nice sticky rectangle that we could then stick on our wood and paint over it, so what I like to do is throw this over the rectangle and then We're going to want to select the phrase and we're also going to want to select the rectangle so you can hold down this and then you can hold down the shift key on your laptop or on your computer and press and click on the rectangle so now everything is selected okay, so another way to do it is just highlight everything, so that will select the phrase and the rectangle itself, so once you have all of that selected, you're going to go here and click on the split button so I can see when I go out when I deselect everything, the button split goes away, but then once I highlight it, the split button turns on again and the reason is because it knows you have two layers. here and you have the ability to cut one of these layers off the rectangle, so I'm going to show you what I mean because I think it's getting a little confusing, so we're just going to press this place button, so now you're I'm going to move the first layer to second layer and now you have a nice adhesive stencil that you can cut out on your vinyl, so let's remove this bad boy now, so I'm going to get rid of these for now because I don't need them and I'm going to click "Make It" so now you can see in the design space that my sticker is ready to go so let's make this bad boy okay so let's start making our stencils so I cut out a piece of vinyl um. to match the length and width of my stencil, so for this I'm just using the regular Cricut purchase, you can use vinyl stencil, you can use Oracle 6:3, one that I also really like, this is just the thing that I have on hand, so I cut it out. and now we're going to glue it to the map and remember that if you're doing this particular template that I'm making, you're going to need a 12 by 24 mat, but remember that they also have the 12 by 12 one so you can always make it smaller if you want, so Let's stick this to our mat and make sure we get most of the air bubbles out.
I don't know where my scraper went, so I'm going to do this. My hand is fine, so here we are. We're going to be pretty much ready to make our template, so for me I have to get my cricket out a little bit just because my tables aren't that big, but it's actually nice because now you can actually see it and make sure you mark it. Change your settings to vinyl. so we're going to want to set it to the vinyl setting and I need to do something, but if so, sometimes it helps if you put a sticker here that says remember to change the settings because I've cut a lot of things wrong on the fly. setup above and I've wasted a lot of material so anyway let's start cutting this so now we're going to go back to design space and we have our template up here so now we just press continue and we're going to wait for it to connect to my Cricut machine, hopefully you'll see that the blue button is the member that feels the best, that means you're ready to go, so let's cut this bad boy out, so make sure the ends are all glued together, so we'll load our loading mat. your mat, all you need to do is put it under these two little teeth here and this flashes, which is good, so you're going to click on that and then while it's loading, I'll help you.
I like to help push it in a little bit so click OK so our mat is all loaded so now all we have to do is press cut we should probably invest in a bigger table okay so our template will be ready to serve as a motor mat, so now we can weed our simple, okay, to weed. your template, you'll need your weeding tool here. I can turn this off now and first I like to start getting rid of this excess that we have around the edges, then we can see what we're working with, so this is going to be our nice decal, so now we can start leading this.
I love using script fonts because you can get it all out in one piece almost if it cooperates like I said if it cooperates that's fine so you're done and now we have a nice sticker that we can throw on a piece of wood or a tile or whatever you want and you can put the stencil in and paint or do whatever you want so now you know how to make a stencil with the Cricut machine and space design software. so happy making
