and I love the end result. They will see how easy it is for them. To do this you now need to know a little basic sewing. I've never seen anyone do it without a sewing machine, but it's so easy. You don't need to be an expert. Hey, I'm not even an expert, but you. I have this, I believe in you and I can't wait until you try it, look how beautiful it looks and look how fluffy they are.

ribbon

, many yards is ribbon. I recommend purchasing 50 yards or more of ribbon. You can also find tapes on Amazon. You can find them cheaper online. I'm not sure if there are any crafts. stores that sell many meters of ribbon, but you can also find my bb craft.

I love that bb craft website for lots of tape too and then from here I also use my cutting mat if you don't have one that's perfectly fine. Measure something in your house that is a yard so you can use that, but I bought this at Walmart. I think it was about 30 and this is what I'm going to use to measure my tool and you're going to need too. sewing machine and a matching ribbon for the matching thread for the ribbon, sorry I'm using a pink ribbon so I'm going to use pink thread and then you'll also need matching thread for your tool if that's necessary.

It makes sense, but you'll see the after and the scissors, of course, and I think that's all for now. I'm going to make a 4t22, so for 422 I need to cut 14 yards. I'll see if I attach the measurements below. in the description box go ahead and check there but again for a 422 I'm going to use 14 yards of tulle okay now I have my daughter and one end of the table and then I don't separate it. I leave it exactly as she comes on the bolt and then I'm going to have her hold it at the end of the cutting mat.
how to make a ribbon trim tutu
She's going to clip it to the end of the cutting mat and I know it's at the end of this cutting mat. one yard because my maximum is 36 inches so that's one yard so I know here at the ends of the mines it's one yard so what I'm going to do is I'm going to hold it here and then I'm going to take it all the way to the end. start of the mat for my daughter and I know it was one yard and I'm going to continue doing it until I have 14 yards so I finished cutting the 14 yards well done counting the 14 years and now I'm I'm going to count now make sure before you start cutting your tool have the floor perfectly clean because tulle tends to pick up everything, any little debris, any thread that you have on the floor, your tool will pick up all of that too because I'm just making a one color

tutu

.
I cut all my 14 meters of rose. If I were making a multi-color tutu, you have to divide those colors between them, so let's say I'm making two colors. I would make seven meters of each color, but. So no, I wouldn't want all of my um as just a blue side and then a pink side, so those seven meters I'm going to split them up as well and I hope that makes sense, so let's say you're doing two colors. and it would have been 14 yards, so I would do two yards of pink, two yards of blue, two yards of pink, two yards of blue, so you could alternate colors.
It all depends on how many colors you are going to add. Simply alternate your colors. yards between colors and it's going to be that easy, don't think about it too much again. I'm making 14 yards of pink tutu so I'm done cutting my 14 yards my next step is to take all my tools and start folding them so this was the longest I cut it now I'm going to start folding it because we have to start, we're going to cut the length of your tutu, okay, so for a 40 I wanted about 10 yards long, that means I'll need my tutu to cut double, so if I wanted 10 inches long, I'd cut my tool. 20 um inches will be half of what you want it to be now when you're folding. your tool tries to be as perfect as possible, don't worry if you don't, make it as perfect because remember we are going to

trim

the length so you can be as perfect as you want, but sometimes it depends.
The way you roll the tool on the boat is not going to be exact, just do your best to keep rolling as best you can because we're going to

trim

from both sides again anyway, like I said, this is going to be a four. t two two and I want it to be 10 inches long, so I'm going to cut my length so it's 20 inches. I'm going to keep rolling and then I'll be right back. Okay, I'm done folding. This is this way. Now I'm going to turn it this way because I want to trim my length, so I'm going to have my daughter hold it at the one inch mark and I'm going to trim it from both sides. making it 20 inches because remember I want my tool on my skirt to end up at 10 inches and I'm actually going to come from here, this is what you have to do.
I'm going to turn this around because I want to start from one point. I'm going to trim it right now, the length is 30 inches so I'm going to cut maybe about 25 here and then the rest there or maybe 26 right here and then I'm just going to follow the lines on my cutting mat and cut and I cut from both sides to make sure both sides are straight and I still cut a little bit on this side, I'm going to turn it over to my inch and then here I'm going to cut the rest, which again I want to be at the 20 inch mark. , so when you fold your skirt or it could be 40, I'm going to make another 20 inches right here, okay, so you're going to throw this in the trash, now I have 14 yards of tulle lengthwise and it's 20 inches long when I fold it down half, it will be a 10 inch tooling skirt, now your next step will be to start sewing. your ribbon, so where you gon' sew your ribbon butt?
You're going to sew it right here the long way around until you get to 14 yards of ribbon that you're going to sew on this side, so when you start to open your tool You're going to have two pieces of tulle, so when you open it you're going to have two pieces. Some people just start sewing one and pull it apart. I like my tool to be spongy and thick, so I leave these two pieces together. This is it and that's it, you won't even see his underwear or diaper underneath. I like, I don't like my tutus to be see-through, so when you open this you'll have two pieces, that is, when you fold this. in half when it's done because you're going to fold this in half like this, you're going to sew a ribbon on this and you're going to sew a ribbon here, so when you fold it in half technically you're going to have four pieces of tulle, two hot , two here and two on this end, but I hope I don't confuse you, okay?
So what you have to do is go and put the corresponding thread of your ribbon into your sewing machine, okay? Basically, I'll put pink thread. I'm going to start sewing along the 14 yards here and then when I'm done, I'm going to sew 14 yards here. Now some people will save the ribbon because remember if I'm sewing 14 yards of ribbon there and 14 yards of ribbon here, that will be 28 yards of ribbon. Some people, to save on ribbon, will just fold this in half and then you'll have four pieces of tulle together like this and then we're going to sew this ribbon all the way around the edge and that way you'll save ribbon and you'll only sew 14 yards of ribbon, not the 28 full, so it's up to you how much volume you want at the bottom of your tutu.
It will still look good at only 14 yards because you are saving tape and it will still look fluffy because it is a lot of tape or you could go the extra mile and be more like me and do both sides and that will also be 28 yards. that will work if you use two colors of ribbon, you can sew a pink ribbon here and you can sew a blue ribbon on top or black and white, whatever you want. Again, one particular client just wants pink on pink. I'm going to go put my matching thread in my sewing machine and then we'll start sewing and I'll show you how it all looks.
I'm going to set everything up right, in case you want to know what kind of sewing machine. I have a Singer Fashion Matte 5560 now again, I'm not a pro so I literally started sewing in November so I've only been sewing for a couple of months again. You are going to put the matching thread in your sewing. machine If you don't know how to use a sewing machine I recommend that you watch several videos about the sewing machine that you have and how to thread it and things like that again I will use pink thread to match my ribbon, okay?
If you see this piece there this piece came with my sewing machine I'm not sure what it's called I guess it's so you can stand up straight and this is wonderful because like I said I don't know how to sew so everything I have What to do is align my fabric here and I could continue sewing and straightening it just by keeping my fabric aligned with this. Okay, I don't know if I said it at the beginning, but I'll wear a size 1.5 or a size and a half. ribbon and I like to use the satin ribbon I see it more fluid I have also done it with the coarse grain ribbon but I will use size one and a half satin ribbon and then you have to put your ribbon here first Now, if you are using a double grain ribbon face, it doesn't matter, but if you're using a pattern tape, make sure your pattern is face down, so I'm going to put it here and now I'm going to line it up here with my piece at the end because when I like to sew I like my thread to be right at the edge of my tape.
I don't like my tutu to show the ribbon in the middle. I like sewing. right here on the edge, so I'm going to line it up here and it's also like my sewing machine has a red line here, so I know that's the beginning where my sewing machine is going to start sewing. I put my foot down. press down and then I have my tape on the floor so while I'm sewing it's going to keep going through there now grab your tool remember it's bent make sure you have two pieces together and you're going to put it on top of your ribbon again no don't get traumatized that everything has to be perfect everyone makes mistakes now you are going to place your tool on the floor you are going to have your two pieces and you are going to put your tool for your two pieces this is the longest way 14 yards remember that we are going to sew 14 yards go to place your tool on top of the tape make sure it's both pieces guys, you need your two pieces I'm going to place it right here and I'm going to line it here now I'm also going to start sewing right here, so I'm going to lift this up, get it there and make sure it sticks.
I'm going to start sewing there and as you sew you're going to line everything up so make sure you hold the two pieces, it's going to be a little difficult because the tool is pink and my ribbon is pink but make sure you have the two pieces and I'm going to hold it and I want to sew right here on the edge, now my daughter is sitting behind me and what she does is she starts cutting the excess tool from here because I don't like having all this. excess, remember I'm going to start sewing right here at the edge, so all this excess tool will be there, she sits behind me with a pair of scissors and starts cutting now, don't forget to lock your stitch, that is , when you start sewing, you're going to go back and forth, back and forth to secure your stitch when you first start and I'm right at the edge of my tape and as you're sewing, make sure you place your two tools. together lining it up with your tape and making sure to try to stay straight and you will continue to do the same process until you are done 14 yards so we are almost at the end when you get to the end of the tool don't forget to do a back stitch to secure your stitch, okay, when you're all the way to the end, then you're just going to take that out, cut the thread and then cut the tape right there and Because it's tape, don't forget to heat seal it with a lighter.
Okay, the 14 yards on one side are done, so now what I'm going to do is pull it all the way, all 14 yards my way and then it was like this the other way around. This is the part that I sold well, so it was backwards like this when I was sewing. Correct approach, it was like this backwards, so now what I'm going to do is I'm going to turn it like this to the right side, this is what it's going to look like to the right side and then this is going to turn to the right side and I'm going to start sew here my ribbon again on this side so this is going to be facing up now I sewed it backwards this is how I was sewing but now I'm going to put it right side up and then I'm going to put my ribbon first on the sewing machine and then my tool and I'm going to start sewing these 14 yards okay same process place the first ribbon design down but like I said mine says it's already double face satin so it will be upside down no matter what both sides are the same, then you're going to put your tool on top remember this is the first one we sold it, it was upside down, then I turned it right side up and you're going to look, I mean, put your two pieces of tulle on, make sure you grab it, place it on top and then you'll start sewing this whole side.
Don't forget to heat seal the ribbon when you first start and then sew back here when you start this. I like to hold this side and just hold these two pieces of tape. I mean, sorry guys, it's late at night when I am. recording this hold ithere hold the hair and I'm holding it here and I'm holding it so I can cut it try to stay straight and I'll start sewing okay so I hold this and make sure I have everything. This together and I'm sewing, then I'll continue 14 yards and again you see my daughter in the background because she's cutting the extra tool and that's what she does for me so I don't have to do it. when it's done, I hold it back here and then I just sew right at the end, don't forget to sew back to secure it, so sew to the end of your tool and you're going to sew back, come back to the front like three times to secure your stitch, then you're going to cut the thread, you're going to cut the tape and you're going to heat seal it with a lighter and then you're done. sew all the ribbon and now our next step is going to be making the little tunnel, the channel whatever you want to call it to put our elastic through, okay, so what I'm going to do is remove all the tools next to me and then this is where you're going to decide if you want them to overlap on top of each other or if you want them to overlap like this so you can see two of them or if you want them like this or like that.
This is up to you wherever you decide to put it, make sure you fold it in half really nicely, arrange all your tools, make sure you have the corresponding thread on your machine for your tool, because this is where you're going to put your uh. Tunnel the elastic through here now, depending on the size of elastic you're using, that's how big you're going to make your stuff. I'm going to mine about 1 inch of the tunnel I'm going into. To use 3 4 elastics that don't roll up, I'll get mine at Walmart, you can get them on eBay and stuff like that, so make sure you fold yours up.
I'll have mine like this and then you go. to place it back under your machine depending on lining it up where you want it and then don't forget to sew back to lock your stitch when you first start so make sure that as you sew you're going to fix how you want this to look and at the same time you're going to make sure it's folded in half nicely, you're going to hold both sides and you're going to sew and as you're sewing make sure that we're arranging everything so you're arranging this how you want it to look and also making sure it's folded in half and you're going to do this until the end and at the end don't forget to go back. stitch to close the stitch, okay, at the end, don't forget to topstitch and then that's it, you're going to cut the spandex and the thread and then you can put away your sewing machine and things like that, clean up your area and then we.
Let's get ready to put on our elastic, okay, I'm going to use three quarter elastic that is not a row. I usually buy them on Warmer or Amazon, like I said now for a 40 year old girl, her waist is usually 20 inches, so I know a lot. of people cut exactly 20 inches of elastic, now I don't do that if your waist is 20 inches I'll cut 4 inches off that so I'll cut my elastic 16 inches or 16 and a half because at the end of the day this will go away to stretch, it's just me personally and that's been working for me and I've been making two tools, maybe nine or ten years, well, not ribbon trim tutus, but I've been making regular fluffy tutus and I always use.
I am the elastic one. I also have a separate video on how to make a no-sew tutu. I'll link it below and that's how I always do it. I'll take three to four inches off again. This is for a 40. I'm usually sorry, I hear that little bell that's my new baby cat. Usually 40 weighs 20 inches, so I'm going to cut this one 16 and a half. Well, now I'm also going to use two safety pins. I'm going to put one on one end and this will help me get the elastic through my tunnel, so one there and then this one, what I always do is I clip this end somewhere, it could be on your couch. be in your pants somewhere that doesn't allow you to completely pass through when you're running the tool.
Now I have this table from Walmart and it has like a little handle here, so I'm just going to clip it on. my table and then it's going to be like this, look now this end I'm going to start running it through my tunnel and then you're going to run this all the way to the end, that's why I have this here so I don't let it fall while I'm doing this. , okay, so I'll go to the end, okay, we're almost done and then your next step is going to be to get some needle and thread which I like to use now. tapestry thread, I bought mine at tapestry thread from Walmart, then thread the needle and then you're just going to overlap these two and you're going to sew them right, you're just going to overlap them a little bit like this and then you're just going to sew this, sew it together, make sure that when you start you tie a knot and then you'll go up and down making sure you secure it tight then you'll be at the end and you'll also tie a knot or pull it through and make sure it's completely secured that's why I like upholstery thread because it's a very, very strong thread , no matter how much you pull on it, it is very well secured, once you are done, you need to fix your tool to get started. around the top, spread it out to cover all of that.
Now your next step is to get some hot glue or fabric glue and get the ends, both ends, grab the bottom ones and put some glue on. I'm going to use fabric glue, you can get this at Walmart Amazon, even at your fabric store, and you're going to grab it, this is facing up, just put a little bit of glue on it and then you're going to grab the other end and I'm going to like turn it over. and paste it. It will look like this. Press it until dry. Now you're going to grab the top one.
Do the same thing again if you don't have fabric glue, just use hot glue. I'm going to grab the other side, turn it over, line it up and hold it until it dries, okay, once it's dry again, fix your waist and now I'll show you the final result once I put it on the mannequin, okay, okay , here is the end. As you see, the result of the tutu will be very, very fluffy and I'm outside because I usually take my photos outside, but this is it and you can find your mannequin on Amazon. I have a link below.
