You know, I grew up with a very famous grandfather and there was a kind of ritual in our house.People came to talk to my grandfather or my grandmother. After they left, Amy would come up to us and say, "Do you know who he was?" She was a Miss America finalist. He was mayor of Sacramento. He won the Pulitzer Prize. He is a Russian ballet dancer. And so I grew up assuming that everyone had something hidden and wonderful in them. And honestly, that's what makes me a better host. I try to stay as quiet as possible. I keep an open mind, I'm always up for something that surprises me and I've never been disappointed. Do the same.
Go talk to people. Listen and listen to the people. And most importantly, be willing to be surprised.
