loop

stitches. I'm switching to blue yarn for the row of loops. Chain three. This chain of three counts as one double crochet stitch.

Make four more double crochets for a total of five double crochets. Three, four and five. Now chain ten. 9 and 10. Slip stitch at the top of the last double crochet. Then make five double crochets. One two three four and five. Chain ten again. 9 and 10. Make a slip stitch again in the double crochet. Continue this process throughout the row. Chain one. We are going to make single crochets in groups of five along the row. One two three four and five. Remove the loop and single crochet the next five stitches. One two three four and five. Work a single crochet in the next five stitches. You may have to really look at your previous high points to see exactly where to place those five points. And five. Continue this throughout the row. I'm switching to pink yarn now. We're just going to repeat the row from the previous loop. Chain three counts as a double crochet as before. Double crochet the next four stitches. Three, four and five. 10 chains and slip stitch. Continue the same process throughout the row. Once this row of loops is completed, you will chain one and proceed with a single crochet again.

One two three four and five. Take out the loop and work the next five stitches with single crochets. Continue making and alternating rows of double crochets with rows of single crochets for as long as you want. Now it's time to connect the chain loops. Start from the bottom and knit the loops like this. You are basically chaining with the chains. Continue up until the last loop. And leave that last loop hanging. Continue with all other columns of loops. Feel free to use a hook or just your fingers to do this. Once you're done with the rows of loops, I like to do a row of single double crochet without loops.

Chain one and spin. Now think in groups of five for this row. Make five single crochets. In the fifth stitch, we will take that chain loop from behind and then we will finish the single crochet. Then start counting the next five single crochets again. And the first one will catch the same chain loop. Two. Three. Four. And in this fifth point take the next chain loop. And in the first set of five stitches pick up the loop again. Continue this process down the row, catching the chain loop with stitches number five and stitches number one. You can see what this looks like.
In the end I like to finish this with one more row of plain double crochets. You can see what this looks like on the back and the front. And so I make Jacob's Ladder with chain links.
