Shiseido was kind enough to send me all the shades of this new foundation. of them, but after doing some swatches I discovered that the shade was perfect for our model Shanice because it matched her neck, chest and shoulders perfectly and since her face is a little lighter than the rest of her body, we will illuminate specific areas with lights later. In this tutorial, now let's talk about the sponge because it really is the main character in today's video. If you've been watching my YouTube videos since day one, you know that I can't live without a makeup sponge.

I have been using this one. in particular from she glam over the last few weeks and I have to say a huge thank you to them because they have been very patient with me before I was able to commit to this video and share my thoughts on it. I really wanted to spend time using it. I'm putting it to work, testing it thoroughly both off and on camera. I've been using it in my last few videos without thinking anyone would notice, but I was wrong. I literally can't get away with it without some of you. I noticed that I read a good handful of comments asking what sponge I was using, who made it and I didn't say anything about it because I still didn't want to endorse it without actually trying it first and now the cat.
Out of the bag, this is the new sponge that I've been using and as I go through the next steps, I'll explain how I use it and why I love it for certain reasons and all that good stuff except for foundation. As you see, I'm using the large flat side of the sponge to really press the foundation in and get perfect coverage. Once we've applied this, I'll start contouring using the born this way concealer in the shade coconut. and I'm using this smaller flat side of the sponge to apply this just like I did with the foundation.
I applied the product first with the back of my hand dipped the sponge in it and then started applying it to the areas where I want it to create dimension with the illusion of shadows because ultimately that is what contouring is and it's important to say here that Every face is different and where I place the contour on our Chinese model may not work for you and vice versa, so play with it, practice and have fun. with it it's just makeup guys, it comes off if it doesn't work, but this is really the way I like to apply the contour, just putting it on the areas where I want to create that shadow, in this case the perimeter of the forehead and the hollows of the cheekbones the jawline and the sides of the nose for the sides of the nose I really like to use this more precise side of the sponge here to apply it is the perfect width for an area like this that's another reason why The reason I love this sponge is because it has so many different sides, so many different facets, even when you buy it in the package it gives you a guide on how you can use different sides for different purposes, you could literally do a full face of makeup using just this tool, but really blending is what works for me and keep in mind that when I apply contour I'm not too worried about being too perfect with the placement, my goal here is to simply apply the product. general areas of the face and then once applied, you'll see me here, blend it all out in just a second.
One of my biggest tips for contouring is to take your precious time to blend everything out, that's where the magic happens when in doubt, blend it out. and you can see here, I'm blending it using one big flat side of the sponge, the side we haven't used yet, if you remember, we used the other big flat side to apply the foundation and you'll see me. Every once in a while I'll go back to that side if I want to fade out some of that contour because there's still some of that foundation left on that side of the sponge or you'll even see me switch which side of the sponge we usually apply the contour to if I need to apply a little bit. more somewhere.
I know you've heard me say in the past, but I never switch between sponges for different steps. I have always used the same sponge for foundation. contour highlights and so on because it allows me to blend all the products and shades we've used up to this point and that's why I've always used a sponge to blend cream and liquid contour. it gives me the most flawless finish and since I know some of you are going to ask me, I will mention that the sponge is hyperallergenic, it is not made with toxic dyes, it is latex-free and at least the most important part for me is that it is super affordable, everything I'm going to tell you may make you fall to the ground.
This sponge, including the case, and everything costs three dollars, 50 cents, 350. Sit back and take that in for a second, because I don't. I don't know about you, but I've been spending I don't know like 20 on a sponge my entire makeup career, what's wrong with this picture? And plus, the brand gave us a site-wide code of 15 to use. I think the code is Spencer. I'll link it below along with the link to your site and all but 350. Alright, I need to move on, so what I'm doing here is applying the highlighting. Using the same concealer born this way but this time it's in the golden beige shade and I'm applying it to my under eye area, upper eyelids and even my brow bone just to accentuate it.
This goes back to what I was saying. I was previously using this concealer to highlight the center of her face, which further emphasizes the dimension we're creating and while this tutorial isn't necessarily about highlighting, blushing, baking and all, it's important for me to include it. Some of these images are here so you can see how they all work together to create the beautiful result that we are going to get and I know I've been rambling a lot in today's video so I'm going to give it a break while you watch in these next few seconds the footage of blending, so now that we have the contour and the highlights blended, I'm going to use the soft liquid blush in the shadow, thankful for the rare beauty, I'm going to apply this to the back of my hand.
As you can see here, press the sponge and then apply it to the apples of your cheeks. This blush shade is one of those that is definitely underrated, but I get it, it is a little intimidating because it is a deep and vibrant coral red, but when applied correctly. It looks incredibly beautiful and you'll even see it here after I've polished it, I'm going to go back to the side of the sponge that we had used for the base to diffuse the edges, so basically I almost used the side of the base as an eraser or a diffuser throughout. applying makeup before setting it powder by powder, I am mixing this translucent setting powder in a beauty size along with the pinch of Beauty Bakery flower powder in the shade banana. and now I'm applying it with the big flat side of the sponge.
Before using the sponge for this, I wrapped it in a clean paper towel to squeeze out any excess foundation that was there before dipping it into the powder and setting it down. I put it on my under eye area for the baking process. Our model told me that she has an oily skin type, so today I'm going to use the powder. Anyway, we'll clean it all up here in a minute, but I just wanted to show you the different ways you can use a sponge that I mixed with some beauty baking powder to get a light yellow tint that will complement the area underneath nicely. of the eyes and the rest of the face.
I am using the same powder but of course in a much lighter dosage just to slightly set the products we use and remove shine in that T-zone area. A common question I get is how do I clean my sponges and in a few words, for me It's my own personal sponge that I use on myself. I find the easiest way to clean it is with an antibacterial bar of soap. I find that it really breaks down the makeup in it and once I set it aside to dry, I spritz it with i. I think about 70 alcohol to really make sure it's sanitized.
Now the sponges I use with my clients are another story. I use a new sponge every time I work with someone, which is why I love the price of this sponge. I can still do it. I'm not going to top it three dollars 50 cents oh my gosh okay I'm lightly baking the jawline with the same powder to refine the contour that we created earlier and I'm just going to leave this on for a few minutes before I wipe it off also just to mention. The outline we did today is more usable than what you may have seen me do in the past.
I wanted to make it more attainable for the everyday boy or girl who wants to learn how to do it but still wants to get professional results if you want me. to create another tutorial on more intense and transformative contouring, let me know or even a tutorial that shows you how to contour on different skin tones. I'm totally willing to do it too. Okay, to add a little glow to the skin, I'm using the iconic London highlighter. drops in your original shade to add a little glow to the skin. I applied it to the back of my hand just like I did with all the previous products we've used up to this point, pressing the sponge and then patting it lightly.
I put it on the high points of her face, including her cheekbones, down to the center of her face. nose, cupid's bow and just a little bit on the forehead, and since today's video is about complexion and contouring, I did the eyebrows, eyes and lips off camera, so all in all, this concludes the tutorial on how to contour like a pro on our naturally beautiful model Shanice and there we have it kids, I hope you enjoyed today's video, if you did make sure to give this video a big thumbs up and subscribe.
