Okay, so we talked a little about the company it came from, but what are the dangers? Okay, the dangers are the eyes, breathing through the nose, the skin and then also ingesting it. That's why we want to be careful with those four things. What's inside? Well, the main ingredient is 2-butoxyethanol, which belongs to the glycol ether family. Now, it is a relatively non-volatile, economical and low-toxic solvent. And it is used in many household and industrial products due to its properties as a surfactant. And then it's also associated with a trade secret that we don't know what it is, but what we do know is that it's a Ph scale at the high end of the alkalinity scale, with a 12 1/2 to 13, which puts it in the family of bleaches and ammonias.
That's why we want to treat this with the utmost chemical respect. Well, now if for some reason it is necessary to have first aid measures, what do you do? If it gets into your eyes, you should rinse it with water. If it comes into contact with your skin, it should be rinsed with water. If you breathe it in and inhale it and the fumes start to bother you, you'll want to get outdoors. And if for some reason you must ingest it, there is a number on the back of the bottle, and it is for poison control.
If you want to drink a glass or two of water to dilute what you have ingested, you will need to call the poison control number on the back of the bottle. Now, fire hazards. There are no known explosive fire hazards associated with this product. But if for some reason your bathroom catches on fire while you're using it, or your kitchen or whatever, a regular household fire extinguisher should suffice. Accidental spills, what happens if you accidentally spill it? Well, for a jug this size, you would rinse it with water and then clean it. Handling and storage. You want to keep it in its original container.
This container is made of a special plastic that is a little heavier than a normal plastic jug. And since this is a strong chemical, we want to keep it inside this jar. Now when it's empty, we want to rinse it before putting it in the recycling bin. Alright, next up are the exposure controls. How do we protect ourselves when using the product? First, in the case of inhalation, we want to make sure we have adequate ventilation. That means opening the windows and turning on the ceiling fan. We also want to use our personal protective equipment, which in this case will be a mask.
And then we want to wear our eye protection gear to protect ourselves from any splashes that get in our faces. And we also want to use our disposable gloves for our skin. The physical and chemical properties. This is a clear liquid, looks a lot like water and has a lemon smell with a butyl fragrance. And the reactivity is that this does not mix with anything. It's okay, you can dilute it with water but don't mix this with anything. The toxicological information is that this is acute oral toxicity. And that is trade secret 762. Green information. It is toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects.
Disposal considerations, we talk about rinsing it before recycling it. And transportation information. It is listed by IATA and IMDG as a corrosive liquid and contains sodium hydroxide. And shipping by air is not recommended. Very good, the regulatory information. According to OSHA, this material is hazardous under the criteria of the OSHA Federal Hazard Communication Standard as an acute health hazard. That's why we want to take extra precautions when using this product. I don't want you to be afraid of chemicals, I want you to be aware so that you have options later. Alright, now that we've seen it, let's give it a try and see exactly how it works.
For those of you who are listening to the podcast and are in your car in rush hour traffic and can't see what we're seeing, we're looking at our work on smart, not difficult, tools for today's shower cleaning. What we have is a roll of paper towels. We have a normal hand-held scrubbing brush. We have our 2 oxo deep cleaning brushes. And we have our Greased Lightning Super Strength. These are the tools we will use today to clean dirt from the bottom of the shower floor. Moving on to the shower, what we're seeing are the ridges and edges around the fiberglass floor.
You have mold starting to build up in the corners and crevices of the grout. Now, it's not really unpleasant, I've seen much worse, but this is a great opportunity to see how it works. So we have some mold in the corners and some nasty black stuff in all the corners around where the floor meets the grout. And then the floor has some nasty black stuff on it. And we're going to be able to eliminate that with Greased Lightning. Now there are some things on the sides of the ceramic tile walls. There is some yuck on the ridges and edges of the doors where the door seals.
And then there's also some dirt that we're just going to clean up with our scrub brushes and our Greased Lightning. So let's see if we can do a really good job on this floor. Very well, now that we have put on our personal protective equipment, we are going to ventilate the room so that we have adequate air and adequate ventilation. Let's go to the next room and open all the windows. This is an opportunity to simply protect our breathing because we don't know how strong the smell will be. We want to be safe, not regret it.
Let's turn on the ceiling air fan. Another safety precaution that Greased Lightning has provided us with is a safety screw cap on the top of the mouthpiece. This allows us to turn it off to spray it before use. Next, to protect our floor, we are going to remove the carpet from the floor that is in the bathroom next to the shower. This way, if something spills or drips from the glass, it won't spill on the mat and we won't have to replace it for the customer. Alright, now we're going to spray Greased Lightning in all the corners.
We'll spray it on top of anything that looks like mold or mildew. We will spray it around the ridges and edges where the shower door meets the shower and all the seals. Let's spray it on the glass of the shower door, the shower pan that has nasty black marks and grime. I don't know if this is from the hair dye or if it's mold or what exactly it is, but we're going to spray this degreaser in there and see if this will remove any of that or help break it up. above. We're going to re-spray the corners and around the edges of the exterior where the fiberglass panel meets the grout and tile.
Now, using our Oxo Deep Cleaning Brush, we'll scrub all the edges of the doors and the door trim, and wherever any yuck has built up. And we're going to scrub the grout lines and watch, you can see how it comes off, after we've soaked it for just a couple of minutes. Now we'll use a regular hand brush and scrub the floor to remove any of those dark marks. And you see that it has arisen. Now we still have to rinse it, but at first glance it looks like it's doing a great job. Now it takes a bit of effort and on a scale of one to ten, with one being easy and ten being the most effort, this is probably around a four or five.
We're using some proper work here to really work on this and get rid of the mold and mildew. But this is in the grout lines and the shower itself. Now we're going to rinse it off with water using the handheld shower head with a hose, and we're just going to move carefully here so we don't get wet in the shower. But let's spray that. And then we're going to clean it with just a paper towel, we're going to clean the doors and the glass. And we're going to be especially careful to go around the edges where there is often buildup, like if you use a squeegee, for example, there will be buildup around the edges and the floor.
So we're just going to wipe it off with a paper towel, because we've already loosened it up with Greased Lightning. This is an overview of the finished product. How clean and bright this is. And we're actually seeing this through the closed shower door. You can see how clean the grout was and how clean the floor plate was. And if you go into the curves, that came out like magic. You can't even tell there was mold there. Going through the entire shower, let's take a look at the corner. Boom, this is amazing. It's like

greased

magic. So this is Greased Lightning working for you.
