your

overall

beauty

? I mean, makeup has come a long way and maybe it can hide the fact that you were on Twitter until 2:30 last night. That was me. So this week, Kristen and I are going to conduct a little experiment to see how eight, six, and four hours of

sleep

affect

our overall

beauty

how much does sleep affect your beauty ladylike
No. - It's about sleep and sleep patterns. Absolutely not. When I don't get enough sleep, my face looks like an old dog. I have a sagging jowl and I think... Every time I feel like I haven't gotten enough sleep, I feel like I turn into a chipmunk. I end up rubbing my face a lot more. It's very difficult to do a cat eye because my eyelids are like sunken grocery bags full of cans. (hysterical laughter) You know, when you have a bag full of cans and you think, oh that bag, it's definitely lumpy and droopy. That's my eyelid when I don't sleep.

More Interesting Facts About,

how much does sleep affect your beauty ladylike...

That's why I normally sleep about seven hours. I normally sleep between six and a half and seven hours. If I go to sleep before midnight, I sleep seven hours. If I don't go to sleep at 1:30, I'm awake until 5:30 in the morning. I love the morning. I wake up pretty early. I wake up at 6:15 every morning and like to go to bed between 10:30 and 11:30 in that time frame. Because if I don't get a lot of sleep, I get very emotional. I'm having a diva moment right now. (groans) It's going to be pretty interesting this week when I'm six and four.

I'm a light, light, light sleeper. If there is a loud noise outside, I will wake up. I am a very peaceful sleeper and I know that is a blessing because it is very difficult for many people to sleep well and soundly at night. When you tell a woman that she looks tired, what you usually tell her is that you are not wearing makeup. Which is nonsense. Do not do that! People often tell me that I look tired when I'm not. That's why it always confuses me because sometimes when I haven't slept enough, no one says you look tired.

It's always when I'm having an emotional moment. They say, are you tired? And then I say, no. Since I'm not going to change my makeup routine because I do the same routine all week, I don't think makeup will make me look any less tired this week. I don't know, I think he won't hide anything. I think makeup definitely makes you look more awake than you really are. But I don't think makeup is a magician, so I don't know how awake it will make me look. For three nights this week, Kristen and I will sleep eight hours, six hours, and four hours.
Then we will take selfies with makeup to see how our face changes with that amount of sleep. Also, just to clarify, when we say, "How

much

does

sleep affect your beauty?", I'm not talking about overall beauty, nor inner beauty. Because you are still beautiful, no matter how many hours you sleep. So this video is about how makeup settles on your face when you sleep different amounts of sleep. Alright, this is a terrible idea. Alright, this should be a fun day or week. Whatever we're doing. I don't even remember it. It's time to get ready for bed.
I'll wash my face, brush my teeth and get settled, here I go. So I have an early call time. I'll try putting some green tea packets on my eyes and taking a shower and maybe some Advil to bring down the facial puffiness. I am not a morning person. I am a nocturnal person. My natural rhythm is to go to bed at 1:00 a.m. m., which is a problem because I have to get up again at 7:30 a.m. m. It's very, very difficult for me to sleep eight hours because that's not my natural rhythm. This is the side I was sleeping on.
You can tell because it's crushed. - True or False: Certain studies find that reducing sleep over a period of 3 weeks shows significant results on the subjects' faces. TRUE. (Buzzer) - False. That? - Certain studies find that sleep is reduced over a 3-day period! Hope for? I mean, I feel like I never get enough sleep, so I'm curious what my baseline is. How do I look when I'm well rested for a whole week? That morning I woke up, looked at my face and was alarmed. When I looked at it, my eyes looked puffy and my pores looked big.
I just looked sad. I think I fell asleep at 2:00 and then woke up at 5:30. Good yes. Pretty similar. I look like shit. Same. Look at these eyes. I look like a fucking ass, I look like something I ate. Why are you eating ass? Well, because it was the only thing available, Devin! Over time, throughout the day, with a little caffeine and a little room to breathe, I feel my face calm down a little bit, but people definitely notice that I'm tired. Do you have really dark circles under your eyes that you're hiding with makeup right now?
It's funny you ask that, because I slept four hours last night. Because! I did it for a video. But honestly... Can you tell? Honestly, even in the shadows, I can see... Look! Look at yourself. There is definitely discoloration... You usually have pretty flawless looking skin. And it's a little dark down there. When my makeup... When it seemed like I was overcompensating with makeup, it just highlighted the fact that I was even more tired. The day after I had slept four hours the night before, there was baseball playoffs, I had two and a half beers and I was warm.
Because I hadn't slept so I was like, (scat singing) I had two and a half beers, because I slept three and a half hours. I am so tired! True or False: Poor sleepers have the same neutral evaluation as normal sleepers when it comes to their own facial appearance. I'm going to say no, just because when I'm in a really bad mood I think I look like trash. So at least I got that right. I know I need to slow down and rest sometimes, most of the time... But I didn't know that was immediately reflected in the body.
My skin looks a little sad today. It makes me think I need to go home, I need to take a damn nap, because I don't want to look like a raccoon. A racoon! It was more swollen and like all the crags were ready to play. It was like the grand canyon was making a day-long stop in my face. So yes, that day was very hard. I felt like my makeup didn't even look that good on my face. I feel like when I was tired, the makeup didn't even penetrate my pores. It was like everyone was sitting on it.
I'll never do that again. I learned how horrible that idea was. I can't do that before a big session. I have to force myself to go to sleep. Last night I slept about six hours. I have bags under my eyes. Swollen upper eyelid. My cheeks feel swollen too. The next thing we did was sleep for six hours and I think I felt more normal that day. I slept six hours! I'm going to put on makeup. I don't know, I don't look too bad for having slept six hours, but that may be because I'm still young and my face still has a lot of elasticity.
I mean, my eyelids are a little puffy, honestly. This is stupid, I feel bad, I really want to sleep. Well, I had some steam, I'm going to have some caffeine and my skin is starting to look a little less puffy and a little clearer. I know this is all very tiny and the internet will probably say, Devin, what are you talking about? Your face is completely the same every day. I feel a difference, especially in my eyes and cheeks, depending on how much I sleep. I feel like my makeup sets differently depending on how much I sleep, so today is an example of a day where I just feel like... and I have this feeling like I'm going to put on makeup, and it just goes to something like randomly oily. here. - True or false: Lack of sleep can worsen inflammatory skin conditions.
TRUE. - Yeah! Inflammation is caused because your immune system is imbalanced and if you don't get enough sleep, then your immune system doesn't have enough time to regenerate properly. This morning my whole body felt like tender meat. And I think my face reflects that. Again, don't worry about the hair. Although... I don't know, it's kind of cute. I'm so tired I put primer on my hair. I don't know if I look more tired today than any other day, because I look tired all the time. I have like 75% of my eyebrows done. I don't know if I'm going to go back and finish the eyebrow.
Although apparently I have to because of my job. So for me, sleeping six hours a day is a normal day. I felt the usual amount of, like, I haven't slept enough but I've gotten enough sleep to live life. Time to put makeup on a face that has only slept six hours. I hope it's okay. True or False: Without deep enough sleep, your skin's repair process will slow down but will eventually adapt to your new sleeping habits. Okay, I'm going to tell the truth, because I feel like the body adapts to whatever you're doing. FAKE!? That's crazy to me, what!
I mean, as I get older, I feel like I sleep less and less. Your body needs to rest. I've already put on my makeup completely, and since my makeup and skills are quite effective, I don't look that tired. But I feel exhausted. I also know that in a few hours all this will be here. My makeup was pretty normal. It usually sits on top of my skin, I have very large pores, so about halfway through the day, my makeup starts to hibernate in my pores. I'm not going to apologize for the fact that my brain is awake during a certain hour that is not compatible with the sun.
For me, the part of my face that betrays me the most are my eyes. You can definitely tell if I've gotten enough sleep or if my eyes have had a good rest, because my eyes are half-closed, and when I'm sleepy, my mascara stays on the top of my eyelids. But I definitely miss a lot more makeup when I'm tired. I notice that happened a couple of times during the six hour attempt. I felt like that was a basic example of my face, the six-hour day. I've slept eight hours and my eyes are definitely bigger. Normally, when I've slept for four hours, my eyes are like little pistachios.
But in this case, they are the whole shelled nut. So yesterday I slept eight hours and, man, my skin looked good! The eight-hour day felt incredible. This is like a typical makeup day for me. Every time I get enough sleep, I feel hydrated. My skin seems hydrated. If I don't get enough sleep, I feel dehydrated and bloated. Just little things I'm noticing as I focus on my sleep and how the makeup is settling on my face. - True or false: Sleep-deprived women show signs of premature skin aging and a decrease in their skin's ability to recover after sun exposure.
TRUE! I don't think that exact fact has caught my attention before, but it makes a lot of sense. For example, sleep is when your body recovers, and in order for your body to regenerate skin cells to heal damage, you need more sleep to give yourself more recovery time. Well, I'm putting on my makeup and I can already tell that my foundation is getting a little smoother, a little less runny, a little less flaky, my skin is a little less angry today. I couldn't explain it, my skin was soft, it was super, not rough. Usually when I'm asleep my eyes are like this, and then when I'm awake it's like my nautral state is just eyes open, big, ready for the day!
I feel like the mascara portion is like a good test to see if I'm tired or not, because if I'm tired, the mascara smears on my upper eyelid because my eyes are puffy. But if I'm well rested, everything suits me very well. So my makeup is almost ready, this is my look of the day, my look for eight hours of rest. So, yeah, we'll see how long this lasts. Do I look rested to you? You actually seem pretty rested. Oh really? If you look good! Oh thanks! Baby skin. Oh, it's so soft! Oh, thanks, I grew it myself.
Good job! Your skin looks great, it looks like it normally does to me. Did you do anything different? Yes, I slept two hours more than usual. Oh, great, yeah, that'll do it. I think it's really interesting to have Kirsten and I in this video. I can't imagine staying up all night. But then again, I'm sure she's saying to herself, "Fuck, Devin, I can't believe I'm doing that." I really didn't think it would matter how much she slept. I think I look the same with makeup. But actually, yes. At least in my opinion, that's how it is.
I look at my face all the time. True or false: The skin functions as an important barrier against external stressors, such as environmental toxins and sun-induced DNA. It is true that the skin is the largest organ in the body. I am a busy and working woman. A woman! Woman, I am a busy, hard-working woman and I never sleep. No you don't! Now we're taking selfies, that's the problem. We are taking selfies. All of these things are probably very small, the change is probably very small for the viewers watching the video, but for us to feel our skin and our face wasjust...
It was crazy. I had no idea that sleep could really affect your face and the way you see it so much. Because in my eight-hour day I felt very good. My makeup sat pretty well on my skin. Also, when I'm tired, because my eyes water, I have a lot of transfer on my eyelids and a lot of mascara snowing under my eyes, there wasn't much of that. It's the end of the day and there is no red cone situation down here. I think you will sleep a miracle. A small, tiny, invisible miracle. As I get older, I realize how important sleep is.
I think when I was younger I thought, yeah, I could spend two nights in a row! Wow, I'm a cowboy! But now I think no, I need to be at my best. I don't need to stay up until the East Coast wakes up on Twitter. Everyone can benefit from sleeping eight hours even a couple of nights a week, it would be very, very healthy. I feel like even your entire view of yourself would be very different. I think a problem we have is that a lot of the work we do in companies, especially in our company, is collaborative and therefore means you have to be on a team schedule.
So it's very, very difficult when someone has kind of their circadian rhythm off, to be at their best. My face is part of team Kristen, so that's another team I have to support with the dream. Find out how much sleep affects your skin, tested by women and sleepers. No one yells at vampires for being productive at night. They yell at vampires for other things! Logic! Yeah!
