Damn, that's a dangerous dick, we're obviously two different people, we have two different experiences, would you like to start or would you like me to start? I can start. I'll start it off right, so I was

diagnosed

with ADHD when I was. I believe in the seventh. grade, so I was like 11 or 12 years old. Wow, yeah, I'm kind of a unique case because I know a lot of women aren't always necessarily

diagnosed

until a little bit later, but I think my ADHD kind of manifested itself. ways that were kind of easy to spot, especially because I have trouble sitting still, I can get a little fidgety, I have trouble paying attention and stuff like that before I met you, I had the worst ADHD of anyone I knew personally, yeah, so when i met you i was nice to pass the torch to chen right now chen is the queen of not paying attention i stopped paying attention it's time to take my meds and i wanted to show people what it's like to take my meds because i have to take three of them this is my ADHD pill, it's like a 27 milligram pill, it's time-released, so I take it and the medication is released throughout the day.

This is an anti-anxiety pill that I take along with my ADHD medication and these are all my antidepressants. at the same time so obviously we are very different jen was diagnosed as a child I was diagnosed as an adult this is the thing about my ADHD story it will be a bit of a humble brag and I am so sorry I was like one of those kids who had a combination of high functioning ADHD and I was also very smart when I combined those two together. I was basically able to fake my way through school. He had no behavioral problems.
My problem was that I couldn't commit to any guy. homework, I didn't pay attention to the class either, I just clung to things like what people said and I could pretend that it was false, like my knowledge of the topics that I would like could basically hide the fact that you had ADHD because We were able to do decently well in high school. I was to a higher degree where they wouldn't realize that maybe you were struggling. Yes, I was one of those women who ran away because she is very smart and everyone assumes that I am.
I couldn't do it, but the truth is I was faking it and it wasn't until I got to grad school that faking it started to catch up with me and I got my master's degree in screenwriting and the thing about writing screenplays is that they're long and they take a lot of work. and that's the other thing about ADHD, it affects your ability to manipulate information inside your brain, I just couldn't understand the three and four act story structure I couldn't do. it was like I could understand what it looked like and I could identify parts of it when I watched movies, for the life of me I couldn't do it myself like you know something wasn't right, I knew something wasn't right, it was like why don't I understand this? and I started doing it a little wrong?
My teachers, who were all men, I don't think were adequately equipped to understand what was going on. I think they thought I was just lazy. I mean that's what Tell most people with ADHD my whole life they called me lazy, yeah it's like people with ADHD are often called lazy and it's like I'm not lazy. I'm trying very hard. I'm trying so hard I'm firing on all cylinders. I just want to talk to you right now about my ADHD because I really want to look at that cat over there and that picture on that wall and I want to hang out with you and be like boop boop and then I want to touch this little medicine.
Basically, what was he talking about? Basically, you were diagnosed and it took a while, there were no supports to spot you and realize that you needed help, no, honestly, it wasn't until my last semester of graduation. In school, all my advisors said you need to figure out what's going on with you. Honestly, we don't know if we can approve you and give you your master's degree. And I was like I was an A, so I'm very used to not liking to fail and I was like, What's wrong with me? Why can't I do this? You know, failing is like a card that's as bad as you think it's going to be.
I know, but I have never failed. It's always so good at being like a step, that's so awesome you never feel like feeling it, that's so cool anyway, unless there's actually a person at the door, oh, there it is, it's just dropping off a package, okay, a man, so I did a test that measured. My IQ likes to use different forms and one was with the information I had in my head and the other was with the information I got on the page and if there is a difference between those apparently with ADHD, I also took this test.
I'm just going to say this right now 13 years ago, so please don't yell at me if things have moved on or if I say it wrong. I don't remember what test they gave me when I was a child. I like it I clearly remember liking it. They're like they're here, we're doing the test today, today's test and I was like, "Okay, I feel like we know a lot of people with ADHD, yeah, but I feel like we don't, it's funny having other people with ADHD around." . friends because I feel like for some reason I like to attract a lot of people who are really looking for a friend who can tell what to do and I am that friend like most of my friends and a lot of your friends are also very nice and we are the friends that we are.
Listen, we're a lot of fun. You're going to tell us what the plans are and then we'll show up. Yes, we are not going to do it. make the plans that maybe we're not going to drive but we're going to be there but in this dynamic I'm the friend type you're the friend type yes, the other thing about ADHD is that it makes it difficult to make decisions that That's why we'd like to talk to you. about our friend Brett Sellers. Why do we like wine? I think wine is super beautiful and alive and it's the perfect accent to food and it's always like a fun little adventure in your mouth.
The whole video has been about how we don't like to make decisions and the brilliant salespeople just made a bunch of decisions for us. Yes, they sent us delicious wine. Bright Cellar sends you wine from all over the world, so we did a little test where we responded. Seven questions about our likes and dislikes and a brilliant cellar gave us insight into the things we like to eat and smell and turned it into a personalized box of six wines. Plus, they have great customer service and focus on wine education. Are you ready to unpack it I'm so excited let's try it let's unpack it so we got this chardonnay ooh from possible pasta roblox roblace is one of my favorite wine regions in california wow what's this her and heim heart and home oh This is from Austria, have I never done it?
I tried a wine like this, actually, oh we have to try it, that's wild, oh this is ball, I love Mobex, I'm a big mafia fan, ooh, we have a shiraz from Australia, okay, this one It's a 2017 merlot from where, from California, yeah and then the final wine is called pet name, it's a cabernet, a 2019 taxi from Santa Rosa, oh, Santa Rosa, yeah, California, so we've got some things from California. , we have some things from all over the world, these are all wines I hadn't heard of before. What I'm most excited about is, based on these little notes based on the match card, I would say I'm very excited about probably the meat, the nice merlot.
I really like a good merlot because it has notes of plum, raspberry, black cherry, chocolate and chocolate, so I'm excited. Trying this Hersenheim because it has baking spices, cherry earth, I like earthier things and I've actually never tried any Austrian wine before. Great, oh wow, I don't know if you'd like to try brilliant wineries and try some new wine. You can sign up at our link Brightsellers is giving our followers 50 off their first case of six bottles of wine, so check it out. It's a little adventure in a box. Now let's get back to our adventure, which is the adventure in our head.
It wasn't victory. That? If you didn't, I wasn't paying attention. I started taking extended release Adderall. It also sucks because it's a drug that's so commonly abused by college students and others. Yes, which means that getting the recipes is very difficult. used to treat ADHD is high abuse, high potential for abuse and that means that people with ADHD generally receive a lot of scrutiny when trying to get their medications. It's hell, it's horrible if your medication goes off when you have severe ADHD and you have It's not that you're not prepared to fix it very quickly, it can take weeks and months of horrible calls to your insurance trying to get someone to fill it.
Also at university people constantly said: I don't know what people are like. I found out I had ADHD, but it quickly came out that it was someone who had a prescription for Ritalin and people would like to get my number somehow and I was getting random texts saying, Hi Jen, do you know where I am? get some Adderall or where I could buy some medications it's like there's already a stigma with the medication and then it's especially annoying when you're dealing with the fact that people think you're just doing party drugs, people think that's not are you taking yourself seriously people don't believe your diagnosis is real our diagnosis is very real this often comes up in jobs we have yeah it's hard to explain to people that my brain just works a little bit differently than yours and like I know, things seem simple to you, but things that seem simple to you actually require a Herculean amount of effort to me, yes, it's really hard to describe how ADHD affects your daily life because it's really hard to describe as a brain dysfunction. executive and what that means.
You can also become overly obsessed with things, so people may think that you can pay attention because you are obsessed with a specific thing. It also affects your love life a little. because they see you as weird, yeah that's something I've had to talk to peers about in the past where I've been like hey so I have ADHD and that means sometimes I open text messages and read them and forget to respond. . or I will tell you that I might need a little extra time to confirm plans. You know, some people like, well, if she doesn't respond to my message right away, she doesn't like me, but it's like, yeah, that might. be true or he just has very severe ADHD, for example, give him 30 minutes.
Now I know that if I need an immediate response from Jen, I have to call, I just have totalk to you, yeah, I'm personally someone who, unless I can physically do it. like seeing your face, it's very hard for me to pay attention, this is an example of the strange chaos of my bedroom, it's messy, like it's all kinds of messy piles, but it's organized, like I have everything arranged the way I want. like. Although it's not particularly pretty to see what you notice most about ADHD in me, when you feel like you need to do something, you'll get caught up in one task at the expense of several other tasks around you, so you'll be like I have to take care of this like an accountant, like a money bill, and you'd like to feel like burning yourself with your curling iron and tripping over wires while you turn on the lights because it's kind of like there are other tasks that might be more urgent, like if you decide that You need to do a task first and even if there are other tasks that seem more urgent, they simply don't exist for you if your brain is like what you need to do.
This is one thing that's hard to get you out of, yeah, probably what I notice most about ADHD in you is that in conversations you have a seven-minute window and that's if you're on medication, if you haven't been on medication, May be. 15 seconds, what I think the obvious ways that people can tell that I have ADHD is that yes, sometimes I have a hard time sitting still and I can be a little unstable, as you know, if someone likes it, usually, if Someone's schedule breaks, their life doesn't change, but For me, if my schedule breaks, everything seems to fall apart and the next thing I know I'm naked, I have no clothes to wash, I've shit everywhere, everything is in runes, we are in a pandemic, I have not left.
I'm home in eight months I have long hair again I'm losing my mind This is good information for people who don't know about ADHD because I think it's not that obvious but many times with ADHD you can be very sensitive to touch and sound , so Kristin is someone who is very sensitive to sound, whereas if there is a rhythmic sound, someone without ADHD can ignore that stimulus and can overcome it, whereas if there is a rhythmic sound that comes. from somewhere her brain will drive her absolutely crazy like zeros out of zeros I feel a sensation of paralysis and for me it is that I am also very sensitive to sounds but I am also very sensitive to touch and it is as if I cannot wear certain fabrics because they do not suit me.
I like how they feel on my skin I always have the tags cut out of my clothes I have all my I can't really I don't like people touching me unless I know when it's coming and I can control it, these are things that people don't really necessarily associate with ADHD, but they are common, but yeah, this is just one that he's the one Christian I share, yeah, it's really funny, you don't really like to be touched. I don't know, not even with those people that you know very well, yeah, like jen, it's not like being hugged or anything like that, my prickly cactus, you're a prickly cactus, I mean, I love to be touched, so that doesn't really bother me but I'm very sensitive to similar textures yeah I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't have ADHD who will watch this video and say you haven't really made a good case for what this is I don't get it . but the thing is, I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of you who have ADHD who watch this video and say, "Oh, ADHD is basically a disorder where you have chronically bad executive function dysfunction, I mean, just you can not". take care of your life you can't concentrate enough to do the basics so you can live a life in this world if you have ADHD like your life isn't terrible clearly you can figure it out clearly if this is something you may be struggling with don't just talk to an adult keep talking to adults until you find the adult that will help you if you are an adult, same advice, okay, that's our ADHD video, thanks for watching, we will be Making videos together will be fun.
