How I Used DOLLAR TREE Mugs To Make BRILLIANT NEW DIYS!?! 2024 Krafts by Katelyn

Mar 12, 2024
Hello dear friends and welcome back to my channel, so for today's project we will use the transparent cup from Dollar Tree. I shared a lot of projects, especially a lot of seasonal Fall, Halloween, and Christmas projects, using the classic Dollar Tree mug they have for everyday use, so I wanted to use it in a Valentine's themed video so you can still use that fun mug with some projects that will work for this season. Please give me a big thumbs up and let's move on to the project platform. For the first one I wanted to turn it into a beautiful candle.

This is one of my favorite things to do with these large

mugs

. They are the perfect shape for this, so I go ahead and melt my candles. I do this using the stove and an older pot by simply filling it with about four to five liters of water and then I put the candles in and on medium to high heat I let it melt completely, then I take the wick out of the glass container, put it in the cup and Holding it in place with a small skewer or brush would work, let it cool completely to harden and then for the whipped wax on top, you can see I lined a bowl with aluminum foil so that do not go. it turns out super messy and then you want this to cool until it starts to create a similar border around the edges and you can see it's starting to turn into regular wax and then I'm going to put this in a piping bag after I beat it until it's enough cold to maintain its shape.

You can actually test this by just making sure it doesn't fall over again and then just putting this in there. I didn't even worry about it being perfect. I just wanted to complete. the space and then I add a little bit more on top and the wick goes through this so you can burn this if you wanted to. I'm adding a little bit of glitter, so now it's not safe to burn it anymore, so I'm just going to use this. For decorative purposes, I go ahead and use a little more of my pink wax to create some fun little hearts.

This silicone mold comes from Dollar Tree. They are the perfect size to add to the top of this candle and then also from Dollar Tree I have these. mini small heart shaped pieces. I think it was sold for similar resin purposes but I just sprinkle this on top to create a little faux confetti and let it set completely, it's absolutely adorable and I love making candles which speaks most of all about melting. wax I want to remind you that you can find these little packets of wax melts at Dollar Tree, where you don't even have to boil the glass containers, but you can microwave them in a microwave-safe container and melt them. these I just put in 1 minute and

sure it's completely melted, poured into the mold and they

amazing gifts for Valentine's Day or if you just want to use them yourself I like to make a couple different colors and then mix them together, put these in some little cellophane bags that I bought mine at Walmart and then tied them with a ribbon, very cute gift idea, you could even combine it as a wax melter if you are giving something to someone for Valentine's Day or such Maybe you have a birthday around Valentine's Day. but I thought it was a really cute idea and I love even using them for myself.

I love how many new craft products Dollar Tree released last year and they are even releasing more this year. I love picking up the premixed paints and I seem to even like to change the colors for each season so I found a lot of pinks, purples and whites the last time I went so you just want to bring a disposable cup or a plastic cup because it will be difficult clean it up but you want to stack your paint so I stacked the white and the light pink and then I wanted a third color H just to add some contrast so in a separate cup I mixed the light pink that is already premixed with some normal . acrylic paint which was a little brighter and prettier.
I actually put this in an old paint bottle upside down and then poured paint on top. It was very light, so I took a little more of the brighter pink and that was it. on top and then you want to let this dry completely, but I was worried about the drips on the bottom, so I took a skewer stick and gave it some time and kept an eye on it to see if it dripped. Starting from the bottom, I went ahead and just brushed them aside or rubbed them off. I added a little window border to the front of this and just filled it in for a little candy decoration piece.
All these projects are just for core purposes, but I thought. This was a really cute idea to dress it up and not just have a clear cup. Well, to dress the next cup I wanted to do something similar to the previous candle we made but without using wax if you don't want. to melt any candle, um, this is another fun way to do it. I'm making a fun little coffee drink, but for this one I go ahead and mix in a better color than just a super light pink, go ahead and paint the mug in a couple coats and then let it dry completely before moving on to the next step.
I've mentioned several times that I love how this little cupcake-shaped piece of Styrofoam fits inside these large cups, no need to cut it or anything. I like to secure it in place with hot glue, but for this I wanted to completely cover the styrofoam texture as much as I could, so I go ahead and try to fill it in with a layer of hot glue and then add a ton. of paint because I want this to dry and I can't tell it's styrofoam. I cover it completely and let the paint dry. I liked a mocha color and then using some putty from Dollar Tree I'm mixing it with just a few drops of water at a time adding a little at a time to make sure I don't get it too wet to the point that it doesn't hold its shape , but then put this in a piping bag and go to pipe on top of the cup.
I glue on a Styrofoam ball just to make sure I don't have to add so much caulk that it doesn't dry out and then I put this on top. I love using glazing putty this way, it just seems to work. really great, it holds its shape, dries really well and you can continue to work with it for a while before it sets, so you can see I added a straw on top, cut it out and glued it on. I stick it to the side of the styrofoam and then decorate it with some glitter. I love how the glitter hides all the imperfections by placing it there and then adding these little sparkly hearts that I found in a package from Dollar Tree, as well as another small one. sticks to the window in the front, this really dresses it up, it would look absolutely beautiful on a valentine's chocolate bar, but I love making fake treats like this bouquet of flowers which is one of my favorite things to decorate in the Valentine's Day just brings fun flowers and lots of colors so for this I wanted a white mug because there was going to be a lot of intense colors in the flowers inside of this so go ahead and paint it white and I didn't love how boring it was.
I saw, so go ahead and have some more of my glitter. I obviously loved this in this video because I guess Valentine's Day is a season where I can get away with wearing so much glitter and it doesn't look tacky, but go ahead and sprinkle this. throughout the cup. I love that this specific glitter has different sized pieces, so there is fine glitter and chunky glitter together. All in one I find them at Walmart in several different colors and then I'm gluing on some of my favorite flowers. and just arrange them and then add a ribbon to the side.
I've been sharing this trick for years, but I love taking a couple of eyelashes from the Dollar Tree and putting them in a cup, so I remember the first one I ever made and it turned out really cute, all you have to do is grab one of these cups, paint it a solid color, add the little eyelashes, I painted some lips here and would love the 3D effect and then you can fill these with anything you want, this is a great idea, if you are looking for another gift idea you can use the

mugs

transparent ones from Dollar Tree for this or I share that you can choose any decorative mug you find. one specific one actually came from Dollar General and then using several different things I found these little sequential hearts at the Dollar Tree so I wanted to add one to the front but I tried to disguise them before filling them and then you can feel You can use anything you like You want, most of these products come from Dollar Tree.
I think the straws came from Walmart, but Dollar Tree has some heart ones right now, but I took a pair of socks and rolled them up so it looked like a little shaken drink. I put a straw in there and then thought this little heart shaped bath bomb was perfect to put in the center. It really fills the space. I added this little sparkly heart to it and it makes it a little taller, if you want to upgrade them you can add a Starbucks gift card if you're giving them to someone else, but if you just want to keep them nice, simple and inexpensive they are great as is and I love after you.
They pulled out everything they had, like a pair of socks and a bath bomb, and it turned out really cute. Thank you all very much for watching today's video. Give me a big thumbs up and make sure you're subscribed.
