How I Made My Own Android Phone - in China
May 29, 2021Take apart the
phone
and work from the bottom up Despite having a name that begins with a lowercase "I", there is more to it than the iPhone. They have several teardown instructions for the hardware, equipment, and parts needed, fromphone
s to drones and even televisions. I was using one of their pro kits for this project, but they also sent me one of their pro tech tools which is very helpful. Sometimes for things like repairing cameras where I don't always have the right tool. If you want your own kit, click the link in the description and let them know what I sent you.I wanted to add some thoughts at the end about how this compares to the iPhone build process. Honestly, this was easier than building an iPhone. I was very surprised, maybe it's because I have more experience, but I felt like I didn't know that there are a lot less parts or a lot less, like sheet metal brackets and stuff, that there's only one size of screw, which is amazing and those parts. The center frame are black plastic with all the screws working. These are a replacement for all the metal plate clips that the iPhone uses and there are only 3 of them instead of the 10 or I don't know 15.
Apple has so many randomly. clips, it's very difficult to determine where they all go and how they fit into what doesn't. I was very surprised that it worked the first time I tried it. I didn't have any problems with oddly coupled components like the iPhone's Touch ID. Face ID buttons or cameras. It was a matter of putting it all together and a few screws and it was ready to go. There are far fewer Samsung parts on the market. It's much more confusing. I don't know, the parts of the iPhone seem very different and my theory was that there are at least more iPhones per model in the world, since there are more units in the world than Samsung units, but I did a little research and so far.
As I can tell, that's not really true, I don't know. It seems to me that there are more iPhone parts here in Shenzhen, at least it is as if between 50% and 75% of the market is iPhone by number of parts and that the rest are Samsung, Huawei, Vivo, Oppo and all the others make up the others, you know, 25 to 50 percent, so you have to look for more. This may be a result of the fact that iPhones are
made
here in China but Samsung phones are not, but you would think there would be a lot of Vivo and Oppo parts available and there are OK but nothing like the iPhone so I don't know , I don't fully understand it, but do you do this right now?I'm Scotty from Strange Parts.
