How to Be Happy Again (1/3): 4 Habits to be Happier in 1 Month
Apr 22, 202421 years old (we lived in an apartment full of mosquitoes, cockroaches and large spiders): “Things are very good here today I don't have much time, but thanks to everyone who wrote to me, first, business: me. I forgot to tell you how to catch mosquitoes. Go to your closet and look through your clothes for something other than a skirt to wear, and breathing will definitely put a few dozen flies in your nose, too. One day she was in the kitchen (we don't have a kitchen table) and a cockroach crawled up Amber's leg, up her skirt, and into her clothes. "If that's not funny, I don't know what is." The stories aren't that good, but I had to find something funny to get through this painful situation.
This is one way I try to find joy even when life seems difficult. So, some
month
s, I made it a rule to laugh more every day. I turn it into a checklist. I'm a big fan of setting one or two small one-minutemonth
ly goals that I mark on the days I do it. So I try to find a way to laugh with my friends. And if not, I just try to watch funny videos with my husband. This really seems to help when the days seem tough sometimes. And at this point, of course, the YouTube and Instagram algorithm is like your brain. So the videos that you engage with, any content on Instagram or YouTube, if you watch it, share it, like it, comment on it, that tells YouTube or Instagram to send you more of the same. So I try to make an effort to watch all the funny videos on Instagram and then save them so I can watch them
again
later. And that shows Instagram what I like, so it shows me more funny videos. Your brain works the same way. What you emphasize, you get more of. So anything you can do to emphasize the good in your life tells your brain what's most important, and then your brain allocates more resources to making you feel more of that.So anything good, anything
happy
, if you write it down, think about it, remember it, tell it to others, it all says to your brain, "Create more neural pathways for happiness, please." OK. That's why I've been using this little habit builder with my family to track our success. Every day we check to see if we hugged each other, if we prayed, if we said positive things at dinner, or if we cleaned the dishes. These are the goals we have been working on for this month. And to be honest, with those small goals, one or two minutes each day, I have noticed a big difference in our house. We have something comforting to talk about over dinner and we seem more connected and
happy
. So I hope you can find the sources of lasting happiness and find the happiness that makes you feel alive and aliveagain
. So this is not an equation for an immediate feeling of happiness, but I think over time it promotes a greater feeling of happiness. So thanks for watching, love you all and take care.If you have any copyright issue, please Contact
