How bad is the CHEAPEST AMD Ryzen based Alienware gaming PC?

you can get. I bought it just to see what the other end of the spectrum is like and this definitely has nothing to do with the fact that I can't afford a more expensive version in this box.

I have a pre-built alienware

gaming

system and I really can't wait to get into this now. The first big disappointment was the fact that it was just delivered by the postal service and was not transmitted to my consciousness from the mothership and then the other big disappointment was that this system took almost a while. Month to get here, although I visited the Alienware website today and the estimated shipping time for most configurations right now is three to five business days, so I'm guessing they were running out of stock, but keep in mind the shipment. The dates fluctuate wildly depending on when you buy them, so let's open it up and take a look at this pre-made alienware.

Oh look, it's a very nice box, it's definitely worth at least 200 box you have here and the moment of truth is, oh, it looks like there's another box here, is it a third box? oh no no it's like a bag of accessories and underneath you have an alienware computer with textured plastic which is actually it's surprisingly difficult to do it yourself but here we go we have an alienware oh yeah now before I comment on how it looks let's do this , the first thing I think when I see it is that it looks a lot like a Dyson.

Isn't that right, but that's not the worst thing because Dysons are fans that like to get the airflow right, so that means this system has to have good airflow. There's a vent on the top here and then two more vent cutouts on the side and then when you move to the front, there's a Dyson fan that looks like a vent and you take a quick look at the back. It's actually surprisingly good. You get 6 USB ports, 2 ports, 4 USB ports, 3 ports, a USB 3.1 Type C port, and plenty of audio jacks. display outputs, you have three display ports and one hdmi port, it's pretty impressive and then on the front we have three usb ports and then a type c port and a microphone and headphone jack which is actually a very good front input , although the build quality is not amazing, it is very sticky and as you can see here there is definitely a panel separating action, but with that, let's open it up and see what it looks like inside, okay, it's like a little lever that you pull and then that comes off so that's not bad it's a pretty good implementation and then we have what looks like the inside of an office PC frankly now the first thing you'll notice is that you can't actually see a amount Huge because as I mentioned above the PSU blocks the entire CPU cooler area so it doesn't look promising for airflow over here.

The graphics card is a very interesting OEM version of the RX 5700. Hmm, that graphics card is discrete. Sexy cooler yeah I don't know how the cooling will work as it has a fan blowing directly on it so maybe it's ok and then this is actually the boot hard drive so this is a boot system thousand dollars that it doesn't have an SSD, there are a couple of glaring problems with this peasant spec aside from the fact that it has a pretty decent graphics card, but we'll talk about all that a little later first. let's dig a little deeper, that doesn't seem consensual on any level oh it's just very tight so now we have a decent look inside the system and I'm immediately concerned about the CPU this system has a

I really hope it has a smothering fetish, at least the motherboard power delivery has some pretty thick looking heatsinks. He put a pretty herculean looking fan on top of all these components so I hope that helps with the airflow situation and then here's another really big problem with this setup, it only has one bar of RAM, yes it's 26 66 megahertz and that is mixed with the The fact that it is on a single channel is a big no-no when it comes to Ryzen, so it can affect system performance quite a bit and let's finally get this gpu out and take a look more of near.

Very interesting OEM version of this graphics card, the standard reference design has a metal fan that looks great but doesn't cool very well. 5 3500 which is a pretty strange CPU because it's 3600 x but without hyperthreading so you only have six cores and six threads instead of six cores and 12 threads.

Definitely not a good startup temperature, we're just downloading some games 27 odd percent CPU utilization and we've been averaging 73 degrees celsius on the CPU so oh no that was a lot worse than I thought it was going To be here, you can see the system trying desperately and unsuccessfully to run Battlefield 5. That's appalling, it's only on high 1080p settings with an rx 5700 on the system, it shouldn't be running like a polio victim, which it is even worse is watching him try to escape from tarkov, look at that frame drop, it was working so badly that the anti-softer hack actually kicked in and timed out the server connection because I couldn't figure out why the system was behaving the way it did. so strange way.

Now my first thought was that it's definitely overheating because well, it sounds like it's trying to recreate the Hinenburg disaster right next to me. Listen a bit but after running msi afterburner the temps are actually fine so it's very noisy because the system is trying so hard to maintain those temps and to be fair to the PC the ambient temp in the room in which I did the test. it was 30 degrees celsius, so yeah, it's a bit of a difficult use case. I played a bunch again the next day with the ambient temperature in the room at about 26 degrees Celsius and it was much quieter afterwards, but it's all CPU. making that noise and I would definitely recommend going for the liquid cooling option because I think that would make a big difference, on the other hand the graphics card temperatures are really good, we are sitting at just over 60 degrees Celsius in a room with a high ambient temperature on a rx 5700, that cooler is really impressive so it doesn't overheat so the strange performance can only be caused by one thing: this single device 8 gigs of ram and sure enough after putting this 16 gig ddr4 3200 megahertz kit there, the performance was Much better, it became a really good little

You can see here that Battlefield 5 runs as smooth as a cucumber and even Escape from Tarkov runs very well on this system when you upgrade the RAM and then there is another issue on the performance front. Initially I was very indignant. about the whole RAM issue and the terrible gaming performance right out of the box and I filmed the whole part where he was ranting about how we should burn Dell to the ground for selling these terrible configurations, but then I thought to myself The thing is, the RAM kit only costs around $58 on Amazon and Dell makes it very easy for you to upgrade these systems.

They don't have any weird warranties that will be voided if you remove the stickers, and you have easy access to RAM, SSDs, and all sorts of stuff. Now on Dell's website you can get 16 gigs instead of eight, but you have to pay an extra hundred bucks for that, so yeah, I would definitely buy my own RAM and leave it here when it comes to the noise issues that there is. It's also very easy to solve, all you need to do is specify the all-in-one liquid cooler option for the CPU, which is like 20 or 30 extra on the website and I highly recommend doing that because it will improve the CPU. runs significantly cooler and quieter and to get an ssd here you only need to pay an extra 50 for a 256 gig boot drive, you still keep the one terabyte storage drive, you only get an extra ssd for the actual OS if you specify one of these systems incorrectly you get this experience, which is a computer that works as if you had recently had a frontal lobotomy, which considering the fact that this setup cost me the Canadian equivalent of eleven hundred US dollars, making it the Cheapest upstream setup I could.

Getting Dell Canada is outrageous at that price, it should have at least had 16 gigs of RAM and an SSD and honestly a lot of these Alienware builds are complete rubbish but you can spec some pretty decent systems that don't cost anything. That's a lot more than just building your own system now, there are a couple of secrets to purchasing these alienware prebuilds. I thought it was pretty flashy, but is it really any flashier than a rainbow vomit gaming system you build yourself, although some of the images on Dell's website make it look a bit like a robot lady's garden and the build quality is not amazing but when it is on the desk next to you this way it looks great and when it is in a dimly lit room this little rgb ring in the middle as if floating in nothingness inside the machine, I'm really starting to like it now. I'm not saying we should all run out and go buy alienware prebuilds, but for someone who wants to buy a prebuild. game system built for any reason, you can do a hell of a lot worse than an alienware system with the right specs bought at the right time.
