Holley Sniper EFI: How to Set Idle

Jun 04, 2021
and everyone, just wanted to make a quick video for anyone working on their Paulie

sniper

EFI and trying to set their

idle

speed. I know I've reset my stuff a couple of times and I'm actually going to do it. Now I'm not very happy with the way it's running and I think it can be much better so I'll go through the process of setting the

idle

air control and altering the idle screw. It's all pretty simple stuff, but you know, sometimes. the video helps. I'm going to try to keep this under five minutes and do a short little series on a bunch of different things, so stay tuned for those videos, but let's get started.

I want standard food right there, okay? now you're in the main menu here and you want to go to your assistants here now you have a ton of options and it all depends on what you have what kind of

holley

sniper

you have for me it's just the 4150 or the 555 ten so you go you select the next number of cylinders, engine displacement, mines of 350, save the following at your target idle speed. I'm going to start with just nine hundred, it's high, but it's just getting started. Save the next one to your camera. write mine is a street strip, it's nothing, although that can change some parameters and we can change this later, but we'll start with that power adder, none for me and then for me, I'm running Hyper Spark, there's a Lots of different selections. right here and I'm going to do some more videos on the hyper spark, but that's what I'm running right, so now you're wide open on ignition timing, you can set this up.

More Interesting Facts About,

I'll just do 30 six for now okay now there's your file you can start it and now it's running and resetting all the parameters of your sniper so do that and then now right there on the last screen they want to cycle on, so we'll do it right now, okay, now let's loop it. the ignition and now we can come in here and just look at the basic stuff real quick before we start, so the basic fuel we can go to IFRS and we can see, yeah, it's all pretty much basic stuff, nothing special, it hasn't been touched nothing, it hasn't been edited let's see the basic idle 900 right where we set it up and then I'm going to go monitor the multi meter and I like to use this vital signs tab and this shows a lot of information here, now there's a bunch of different ones that you can use.

I can set up totally different control panels and this panel actually sets up and shows my power on timing and stuff like that, so I'm going to use this one for now so I can monitor the power on timing and make sure nothing gets out of control, but in this point we're ready to start the engine and we need to let it warm up to at least 160 degrees before we can change any of these parameters within the settings here, so let's get to work, ready, getting ready to start this, there there is the initial. settings, go to the monitor, go to the vitals, we can see this all happening, so if you're freezing pretty bad now, okay guys, so the engine went up to 175.

There I'll show you the idle air control screw. , actually just the idle screw. Honestly, it's like a carburetor, so I'm going to remove this top part to show you that and show you how to adjust it, so I had to remove my air filter from the fourth position, but you can see it's here, this guy, so, what? what You can get it in or out and that will change the throttle paddles inside, which in turn your idle air control valve back here will adjust while the engine is running. Now don't do this while the engines are off because it's just guesswork. that point, but have the engine running and then start slowly turning that screw up to that percentage.
This is important for idle air control percentages between two and ten percent, that's where Holley recommends your idle air control valve be. I had to open the accelerator, wait. It's a great bed to achieve this, the console is at 0%, so now we have to close these blades a little bit well, it's almost there, like 10 12 percent, open it just a little bit and see how the throttle response seems good, really like that, bad. Okay guys, it's that easy, basically all you have to do is heat it up to 160 degrees, go to your Hawley sniper and adjust the idle screw like you would on a carburetor and then adjust it until the idle control valve idle air to show somewhere. between 2 and 10 percent if it doesn't go your way, press the accelerator from time to time and I found it almost like resets so you can start it, go down and make sure you're in the right place. area, but other than that, if your throttle position shows something strange, make sure to turn the key on and off and let the system find out that you adjusted the idle screw and it should reset the TPS or throttle position sensor apart from that guys, thanks again.
To watch, subscribe, if you want to see more videos on this, I'll do some very slick stuff about static timing and play with the settings there, but thanks again for watching guys, later.
