Note that they are quite large, 1.4 gigabytes, so if you are somewhere where you have a limit on how much you can download, you may have to go. to work or go to school, the library and downloading them, they will take a little time, but you need them first to get started.

The next question is what type of computer you need, a Mac or a PC, it doesn't matter, the software runs the same. For both, some of the shortcuts are different and I'll explain them throughout the course, but I'll just point them out. I'm using a Mac myself, but it's not difficult to follow it with the PC and just explain if there are small differences along the way, then what software do you need? You need premiere pro. There are a couple of other different types of premiere rush elements. Okay, but premiere pro is what we're going to use in this course. is the main type of question Adobe asks.

The other question I get is: can I use an older version of premiere pro? Not really. If you are using, say, cs6 premiere pro, it will be quite frustrating to do this course. We'll be able to do about 60 of what we're going to do together, but when the time comes, you'll be able to do the basic editing just like the newer version. We are using 2020 in this course. 2021 is just about to go well so anything above that kind of time period will work perfect, anything that's pretty old like cs6 you'll just get to the part where it says fix audio okay there's a button and you're not going to be able to do it, you'll have to figure out how to do it on the older version, so maybe an older course for CS6 might be better for you.
Well, let's talk about the hardware where you will need some minimum requirements. terms of your computer or desktop it's ok to run premiere pro it's quite stressful on computers ok so the best way to do it is to switch all the time so google the words premiere pro and

adobe

system requirements will tell you what the minimum and recommended requirements are. They are fine and the closer you are to what is recommended the better, the faster it will run, the minimum it will actually run, you won't have any problems, but it will be painfully slow. Now a frequently asked question is what happens if I am below the minimum.
I have a very old and poor quality laptop, what do I do? It probably still works. I don't know how old and crappy yours is, but I know I have a PC back there. My Lenovo. It's okay, it's very old. below the minimum requirements but it still loads premiere pro just fine, okay, I'll take it back, not only is it okay, it loads, it works, and I get a warning saying, "Hey, we don't support your video card, um, but you do I click OK and it still works, so the biggest problem is picking it up from the bottom once I throw it into the window, it's painfully slow, but it will work, so take a look at the requirements and don't skip any videos. note the irony of I put this at the end of this video because the patterns have probably already been skipped.
I say this because there are some sections that you might think I'm going to skip because they don't relate to me because I had to introduce all the different types of. parts that we are going to learn throughout the course at different levels of learning, so although I could say something like Instagram, you say I don't need to look that I have other parts that can be used, you know, techniques and tools that can be used. in general, among other different types of video editing, so try not to skip videos, uh, this is the end of this one, now you can skip it, okay, uh, yeah.
Let's get started, a question that frequently arises is what is the difference between Premiere Pro and After Effects. If you already know the answer, you can skip this video if you are not sure. Stay, basically, Premiere Pro is video editing and After Effects. special effects, so premiere pro would be something you would use if you're making a how-to video like this, okay, if you're making a commercial, a documentary, a feature film, I can't think of anything else, but that's all it has to do with taking images from a camera is generally fine and making cuts making transitions doing some basic color corrections fixing the audio and then sending it merrily after effects on the other hand it's about motion graphics and kinetic type and if your logo needs to spin and spin and catch on fire for no good reason, that's After Effects.
Let me show you a couple of examples just to make it very clear. A good example of what After Effects does is its own website. You can see in the background here the types of things that are used, you can see cool transitions and intro videos, there is a laser car with special effects, some interesting cases, visual effects, but I feel like there is another side after the effects in the place. what I do most are more like motion graphics check out this intro here's something similar to the beginning of these videos but there's a little bit of camera work and some zooming and some kind of motion graphics that you can see me interacting with is here that's After of the effects, okay, so I do more things, you can see motion graphics style elements and animated infographics.
That's what this course is about if you want to do after effects and check it out, but there are a lot of cool things you can do like this. in After Effects, other things that are quite interesting with more motion graphics, okay, yeah, there's more layout style animations, you can see all this kind of stuff, uh, yeah, so that's After Effects, Premiere Pro, let me show you some of let me show you an example, this is one of the examples of the course that we are going to do and it is a short documentary about parkour and basically you can see in the images here there are a bunch of mp4s that were recorded with a camera. some audio and we combine it to tell a story on the timeline here, okay, let's play when I started doing parkour five years ago and there's a little bit of interview, the background we cut between some different videos watching videos with others and me it blows your mind b-roll people can jump so far and wait for it i realize there are no limits all the limits fade into dramatic music oh look at that uh so yeah premiere documentaries professional commercial youtube videos how-to videos anything that have to do with videos uh premiere pro is really good at doing it quickly and outputting it quickly it gets scared by the special effects it does some things we're going to do special effects here um, but the after effects it gets scared by doing this type of editing in front of us, but I love doing all the special effects, so can you get away with using Premiere Pro without post effects?
Premiere Pro does a lot of the simple things you want to do in terms of special effects, it's just the more difficult things you might have to skip. In After Effects, okay, that's it, Premiere Pro, video editing, After Effects, special effects, let's start one of our projects. Hi, quick before we continue, I just want to remind you that this is like a small part of a bigger course, hopefully something. Good value here, but if you want to go a little further, enjoy this course. I love my teaching style in Premiere Pro. So far, check out the full course.
It's called Premiere Pro Essentials and there will be a link in the description. OK carry on. Hello, this will be our first project. Let's take a video captured with a camera and stitch it together here on our timeline. This handsome man is going to talk about the course he is taking. Let's fix the color. We're going to fix the audio, add some lower thirds and some background music. Let's listen a little. Hello, my name is daniel scott and I'm an Adobe certified instructor and some upbeat background music, uh, there will be some vignettes. The dots will also fade out at the end, okay, correcting the audio, correcting the colors, it's a nice simple project to start with, discover our way in Premiere Pro, okay, let's get started right, so open Premiere Pro and yours will be you will see something. so it won't look exactly like mine, what you can find is a bunch of intro videos that you can watch, you can skip them, that's my job, so we want to create our first project, okay, you can do it over here.
I can see the word new project or go to the file new project either way start, this new project window will open, let's give our project a name, this is like an introductory course xd and I like to give mine a date, it's okay, so let's put in the start date, okay, so the other thing you need to do is the location where you want this file to be. I'm going to click Browse, what we're going to do is place our exercise files now, let's go. to project one and just throw it in here, we don't need to worry about any of this other scary looking stuff, just click OK.
Now your Premiere Pro might look a little different than mine so what you do is go to the window, go to workspaces make sure editing is selected, if it's not click and then go to spaces of the window and we'll press this one that says reset to saved layout, click on that and it'll just re-adjust everything to get it back. at least so they all look the same, that's useful to remember when you accidentally go and scare this and everything flies to the wrong place and you're like, um, lust, go to the window, go to the workspaces, make sure it's on edit, just go. to reset save and get back to normal, okay, let's start by importing some images, let's go to the file, let's go to import and I want you to go to your exercise files, go to project 1, talking head and here let's enter 01 xd intro. mp4, click import now, let me introduce you to your project window, basically this is the entire set of files.
Okay, bring on your project. What we want to do now is convert it into something called sequence or timeline which means the same thing. The first thing I can recognize is that yours might look like this, okay, so I switch between list view and icon view quite a bit. You're probably in icon view. This is a really useful view and the nice thing about the icon view is that you can't do anything. I just hover the mouse over it, I'm like sliding it, I don't even slide it, I'm just moving the mouse back and forth, you can scroll through the footage, okay, footage is another word for the video that you've brought. so you can get an idea of what's in it, okay, so let's not all go to this icon view to get started, what we want to do now is create our sequence bar timeline by clicking hold and just dragging. in this area down here it just creates a sequence for us, so here in our project window, okay, I took my mp4 and created a sequence and the same name was used, which can be confusing, so this is the sequence, this is my video, how do I do it? you notice the difference, um, I see this little icon here, if you hover over, it says I'm a sequence and here it says I'm a little bit of video and a little bit of audio, sotime, so if you miss one and don't know where it is, use the media link and then use locate, okay, enough about file management, let's get back to some of the more interesting things about premiere pro.
