The 2012-13 season was its best, as he averaged around 10 points and 10 rebounds with almost 3 blocks per game. Sanders wasn't just your typical defensive big man, he was fast and versatile, he could move his feet very well during a game. A guy his size was on track to make some defensive teams if he continued this trajectory. In the summer of 2013 he was rewarded with a four-year contract worth $44 million, but in the following season he first began to have some problems. was a thumb injury he suffered in a nightclub where he was accused of assault that same year he was accused of animal cruelty on multiple occasions then he fractured his orbital bone which forced him to sit out for the rest of the year he was also suspended for violating the NBA drug policy after all these things, by the end of 2014 he just wasn't feeling it anymore, he didn't want to play basketball anymore and he lost all the motivation he ever had.

Sanders would return for a time, but his career was over. but it's a little sad, it would have been interesting to see him and giannis develop together. I'm not sure they would have been a better fit, but having such a dominant defensive backcourt is certainly a No. 6 thing. Andre Roberson, a

second team all-around. defender in 2017, if you watch the thunder any time in the last decade, you should know who this guy is. He's always been criticized for the terrible shooting he did, but defensively he was a monster on all those stacked Thunder teams. Roberson was the go-to defender.
They trusted him, however, on January 27, 2018, he suffered a devastating injury, a complete rupture of the left patella tendon, the worst type of knee injury you could have. His timeline to return was originally about a year, but he had numerous setbacks and so far he still hasn't fully recovered in three years since the injury from 2019 to 2021, appearing in 12 games total and looking like a shell of his former self. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like he'll ever get back into shape. I'm supporting him. but it may already be too late at this point the injury was worse than everyone thought number 5 kenneth fareed what the hell happened to this guy remember back in the day on the nuggets after the soft trade farid emerged as a surprising young prospect full of incredibly athletic and fast energy, although he didn't have a super diverse skill set, he was a breath of fresh air from the typical iso style of play they were accustomed to for so long;
However, it was his limited skill set that ultimately caused his downfall. fareed never suffered any. any major injuries or any setbacks or anything like that it's just that he never improved the player you saw in Denver as a rookie was the same player you saw for the rest of his career he was a great pick-and-roll finisher a great hustle and energy guy , but that was literally it for a power forward, he was undersized and couldn't play small forward because he couldn't shoot, he wasn't a good defender or had quality post moves and he couldn't get you off the field. dribbling when the nuggets acquired paul millsap fareed they moved him to the bench, which bothered him but, frankly, was no longer necessary.
He had plenty of time to develop his skills, but never did after a few stops in Brooklyn and Houston. Farid has been away. of the league since 2019. He was good for his time, but as the NBA has advanced, teams want their big men to be more versatile, not just a one-trick pony like Roy Hibbert's number four, to go from be a totally defensive player with two. -star time to exit the league in just a few years, that's crazy, especially since Hibbert was only 29 when his career ended, how could a guy who was a critical part of a championship contender like the pacers become completely? irrelevant in such a short time a guy who once anchored the best defense in the league with the old verticality rule that Hibbert popularized.
There has been a lot of speculation as to why Hibbard went down but the most logical reason is that he was in the perfect situation with the Pacers they had a traditional lineup with a traditional playing style almost like the playing style of the 1990s, it was rare in At the time the league was moving small, he wouldn't have fit well with any other team besides the Pacers, Hibert could hold his own against a normal lineup, but he was routinely abused against smaller, faster teams, it was also evident in the playoffs against the often underdog Hawks or Heat, he had very similar problems to Fareed Hibbert's, Fareed Hibbert's skills were no longer valuable according to his former coach, Frank Vogel, he stated.
It's surprising to me that I talked to Roy about this, but he might still be playing in the league right now, but the league has adapted both generally speaking and in terms of what he was doing for us in Indiana, there's been a severe evolution in how. the league plays and he has been a victim of it. Larry Bird also told Hibbert right to his face that he wasn't athletic enough to keep up with the up-tempo style of play he wanted the pacers to move toward instead of his outdated offense. Basically, Hibbert was too slow to adapt and with his limited defensive prowess against smaller teams, he struggled to stay on the court in 2017.
He finished as the No. 3 pick on Tai Laws, another former Denver Nugget who faded away, unlike Fareed Lawson , went through numerous exits. on-court issues that greatly affected his basketball career in 2015, he was one of the best point guards in the league, probably a top 10 point guard, but by 2017 he had already gone through the years when Lawson battled an addiction to alcohol for which he was arrested so many times. driving under the influence of alcohol and even after rehabilitation he relapsed, it was a real struggle for him and the difficulties carried over to the field. Lawson was not himself and his game deteriorated.
Once known as a bright young star in Denver he led the charge in the post-melo. Era Lawson used to be very popular with his short stature and his fast, flashy playing style. There was a lot to cheer for everyone who supported him, but after his off-field problems, Denver thought of him as too much of a burden, they dropped him and soon after the rest of the league gave up on him No. 2 , Andrew Bynum, it's been a while since we've heard anything about Bynum to give you a rundown, here's what happened in 2012, Bynum was considered the second best center in the NBA behind Dwight.
In fact, Howard When it comes to offensive versatility and scoring in the paint, Bynum was arguably the best post scorer in the entire NBA on a championship-contending team, the Lakers, which he dominated at just 24 years old, he was also very young However, the Lakers saw an opportunity to acquire Dwight Howard in a trade that involved four different teams, they accepted the offer. Bynum was sent to Philadelphia, where he did not play a single game over the years. He had his fair share of injury problems, but it was never that serious or at least that's it. What the Sixers thought when they traded for him turns out that right before training camp started, Bynum received multiple injections in both knees to try to cure his arthritis.
This forced him to sit for a few weeks to recover from the pain, but few. Weeks turned into a few months during the All-Star break. Bynum reportedly developed a degenerative knee condition similar to what Brandon Roy had, so his knees became increasingly worse with no hope of reversing this condition. It also didn't help that Bynum was pretty sloppy. With his rehabilitation he went bowling and re-injured his knee. He attempted a comeback with brief stints in Cleveland and Indiana, but his knees were too sore to stay on the court, forcing him to retire since then. He hasn't done it. he played some professional basketball and at number one isaiah thomas to give him credit he is still in the nba most recently signed a 10 day contract with the new orleans pelicans in april 2021 but he went from being an mvp caliber player to one. from the highest scoring seasons in NBA history to a 10-day contract, it's sad that in 2017 Thomas was ready to sign a massive 100+ million contract after that incredible season in Boston, unfortunately, it was a moment horrible as it was revealed he had a hip.
Injury The Celtics knew he was a wanted player but the injury was a major concern so they traded him. It was later confirmed that this hip injury was a persistent problem that he had been struggling with and you wouldn't think that hitting problems are a big problem in basketball. compared to knee or foot problems, but for smaller players it is a big problem, they rely much more on their hips for balance and shooting. For Thomas before the hitting issues, he was phenomenal at finishing at the rim due to his offseason body control and MVP caliber. player turned journeyman a tragic story of a man who was the last draft pick, worked hard to prove everyone wrong but ultimately succumbed to the fate of injury anyway, that's it folks, that was seven former studs of the NBA that fell off the face of the earth in such a short time for many of them it was a devastating fall, hopes and dreams were shattered for everyone in this video, only Roberson and Thomas played in 2021, but for everyone The rest I can't see ever coming back.
They may have a chance here and there to train with a certain team, but their time is up. Thank you all so much for watching, let me know your thoughts in the comments section if you can think of any other players. I know Chandler Parsons should too.
