Before the two fatal crashes involving the MAX 8 in 2018 and 2019, Pierson also recommended Boeing leaders shut down production, but he says he was ignored.

Pierson is now the Executive Director of the Aviation Safety Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to informing the public about critical issues related to aviation safety.
